That happened to me this morning too

Every year about this time my husband and I housesit for a lady with a pool while she goes on vacation. We're heading out today. 2016: size 4x tankini, would not be caught dead in it, glad the yard has a high fence. 2017: size 1x "retro" one piece with shirring, still fat but hey, a lot of people who swim are fat, did not freak out when pool maintenance people saw me. 2018: size medium high waisted two piece, with the high waist hiding the loose skin on my tummy, I think I look pretty good!

Still hoping to see some of the skin on my lower abdomen tighten up, not gonna be rocking a low cut bikini with it, but the improvement year to year is pretty noticeable. I'm curious about one thing, though. In 2016 I could float without even moving. In 2017 I wasn't nearly as buoyant and had to make an effort to tread water. I wonder what it will be like this year!

My resting heart rate has gone from 73 to 63 in just a month! Can’t believe I didn’t start this journey sooner!

What are you doing with them?” Your kids are seeing their mum making the choice to get up and go (even when it would be seen as acceptable to sit down and stop, like on holiday) and it’s changing the way they view movement. You’re moving your family’s story to one of health and fitness and I think that’s AMAZING.

I do have to say, that the "ripples" (or maybe my children would say tidal waves) of my efforts rubbing off on my children is THE most satisfying part of my journey. Every time my children choose to do something, like going for a walk/run/anything physical, or make a better food choice, it sends a small frisson of happiness through my soul. It means so much to me knowing that my children will grow into adults who understand how to be healthy and fit and what that means for them in the long term.

One of my favorite places o earth

So, update, I was wondering what swimming would be like since I've lost weight. Wow, it's so much easier! I was surprised. I expected to feel less buoyant and have to work harder to stay afloat, but it seems like that isn't true. I can still float comfortably on my back with my face out of water. But more surprising is that it seems like the cardio benefits of being a regular runner translate into being a much stronger swimmer. I haven't been in a pool since this time last year, and compared to then I can fly across a pool! I even tried a butterfly stroke just to be silly. Last year this wasn't even possible, I didn't have the force necessary for lift or the stamina to keep going, it was just a tragic splash fest. This year I can do it respectably.

Dead tired, on about 4.5 hours sleep, a frustrating 1.5 hour drive home and no food since 11am, it was 4pm and I stepped inside my house to my fluffy kitty and wanting to relax with what was left of what was supposed to be a half-day. I had taken last week off from Stronglifts cuz traveling, I knew I had to get back into it, couldn't give in. Did the damned workout and it was one of my best ever, no excuses! Feels amazing cuz now it's 9 and I am indeed relaxing

I guess this is technically a scale victory, but not bodyweight scale.

Got home tonight and was still a little short of my protein goal, which I try hard to hit or exceed every day. Fortunately, I still had a couple of hundred calories left to make it easy, so I decide to have a bigger-side snack I've been enjoying lately, 2 whole wheat mini-pitas with whole-grain mustard, a lighter calorie cheese plus string cheese (just barely melted), with raw sauerkraut - so tasty!

Figuring it out, I pre-logged 7g mustard and 14g cheese, knowing I had a little wiggle room. Put the mustard on the scale, tared, squirted it, returned to scale . . . 7 grams exactly. Put the block of cheese on the scale, tared, eyeballed/cut a hunk and removed it . . . 15 grams - close enough.

Over my protein goal, under my calories: Experienced eyeballing FTW! (Sometimes it's the small stuff.)

Twenty-five years ago when I was fit and in much better shape, nurses and phlebotomist would say "Oh I love your veins, they are large, and easy to find." Over the years I gained weight and the nurses and phlebotomist would feel around looking for the vein or look for alternatives to the median cubital (inner elbow vein). The other day I had to have blood drawn and although the vein was not as visible as it was years ago, she looked at my arm, pressed it twice and said "oh good your veins are easy to find."

Know all about this one. Also, the one where you don't feel completely appalled by the mirrors in the fitting rooms - in spite of the horrid lighting which accentuates every bump amd dimple

i went on a holiday. Splurged a bit on the beer side and had a really hard time to get back on track. but...

- i took my running shoes and clothes and made sure to excersise
- i went back on track in the weeks following
- the splurging now was way different then we would have done before. We did not eat a lot of garbage, bought fresh produce everyday.
- i thoroughly enjoyed the beers without the normal guilt

That chair at work is getting really hard!
