Name something that was easy for you to give up

Is there anything you guys struggled with but was able to give it up easily?
For me, it was alcohol. I was a heavy drinker but refused to be called an alcoholic because I could go days, weeks and months without a drink but my real problem was I didn't know how to stop once I started drinking. I would have to drink the whole damn bottle before I felt enough was enough. On July 7, I quit drinking cold turkey and changed my diet completely. I have since lost a total of 22 lbs and got my A1C back below 6.50.
If you are a drinking alcohol and you're struggling losing weight, I can almost guarantee that if you quit drinking, you'll see a huge difference immediately.

Sugary soda. Just couldn't afford 200 calories per can a few times a day and realistically thing I was going to lose weight. Gonzo.15

Oh man.. there wasn't just one thing. Honestly, I was so done with that lifestyle that I found a few things that I love/loved easier than I thought to give up- at least until I could control myself around them.
Regular pop.. instead going for Coke Zero Sugar-no cal, but even this is very very very seldom, as now the carbonation upsets my stomach after more than 6 oz or so.
Alcohol, never drank heavy before, but did drink.. almost never now.
Candy. Especially peanut butter cups. Such things are special treats now.
Chips and salty snacks.
But for me, I never overindulged much with these things.. for me it was regular food that may have been nutritious and healthy, but I ate ridiculous portions. I also came to the realization that I had some emotional issues regarding wasting of food which often came up when it was time to clean the fridge out, that caused me to eat +1000 calories while tossing that food out (it was still edible, just time for it to go); all of that stemmed from some mistreatment regarding food that I got from my dad way back as a kid. I just didn't realize it until recently.
But most of all, the easiest thing to give up was the way I was thinking about eating. Food now fuels my activities and is something I do to power my other loves in life, and not the center of it.11 -

Food fear. Surprisingly easy once I found MFP.15

Canned sodas, mainly Coca Cola.
Routinely drank 4-6 cans a day and sometimes even more. Always had an 18 pack in the frig w/at least 2-3 more 18 packs in the pantry.
No struggle to stop drinking it. Just cut it out cold turkey and quickly dropped weight by eliminating 560-840 cals/day when it did.
Also cut out drinking canned beers, mainly Budweiser.
Usually drank 2-3 cans of Bud on top of the 4-6 cans of Coke. Had a 12 pack in the frig next to the Coke and extra 12 packs in the pantry as well.
No problem stopping that either but I still have a draft beer (only 1) when eating out. Cuttiong out the canned,beer saved me another 290-435 cals/day.
Total cals/day saved by cutting out canned sodas and beer was about 850-1275/day.
No wonder I was fat and quickly lost weight when I stopped drinking them.
I had no idea how many cals I was drinking until I started tracking my food/drink intake and added it up. It was a surprise but only because I never thought about it before.
Lesson learned.9 -
Granola. Not worth the calories for the amount. Substituted some slivered almonds and strawberries for yogurt, so much better.7

I used to smoke shisha every night a few years ago. I decided one day I didn't want to do it anymore and stopped cold turkey.6

Congratulations on being sober!
I didn't give up any foods that I didn't want to give up. I did cut back on plenty of portion sizes once I learned just how many calories I was taking in. However, for me we're talking about sweets and starchy foods rather than alcohol.3 -
For me like others it was sodas. Now I drink water or tea.3

Surprisingly fast food was easy to give up. Almost all my food used to come from a drive thru (Taco Bell and Jack in the Box being my go to places) but I haven't been to a fast food restaurant since 1/1/17 and I dont miss it. I honestly though it would be more difficult to break that one.3

Ginger ale, by accident.
I drank a couple of cans a day.
In 2009 I was close to my weight loss goal and we went on a trip to Italy and a med cruise.
It was hot, it was hard carrying a can of warm fizzy pop around, so my SO and sister taught me how to say 'agua minirali con gas'.
I was thrilled as I don't pick up languages, even phrases, well and just kept ordering 'agua minirali con gas'.
By the time we got home I didn't like the taste of ginger ale, or other pops anymore they were too sweet.
I finally dropped those last few lbs, and, 9years later, still don't drink pop, unless mixed with alcohol

The easiest thing I gave up was pasta and bread. I decided to go low (almost NO) carb, and within a matter of just a few days, it had no appeal to me whatsoever. I was so surprised at how easy it was to go without it, and still feel like I was making meals that my son and I could really enjoy!4

same here, before i quit I told myself there was no way I could quit cold turkey, surprisingly it wasn't hard at all0

Bread and noodles. The toppings are the best part, IMO.4

I'm not a "never, ever, can I have it again" person, so there's nothing I've completely given up.
I have, however, nearly eliminated soda, which used to be a pretty much daily thing for me, or at least a few times a week. Now it's a couple times a month (if that) when I'm on the road for a race weekend, occasionally with a dinner out with friends (which is pretty rare).
Sparkling water was the cure for my soda addiction. Bubbles were the key to giving that up!3 -

Giving up soda and juice was easy.
I've eliminated coffee for a variety of reasons. I'm not a happy camper. I'm not even a slightly disgruntled camper. More of "I will kill you for that mug if you turn your back on me" camper. I have issues.6 -
It was so easy to give up giving stuff up; in fact, as soon as I stopped giving things up I knew I would make it to goal xx15

gave up eating jazmine rice every day, only have it once in a while. I actually started eating a lot more things that I didn't before rather than give up things1

Soda.
I was out on my own for the first time buying groceries. I saw the sale price on soda and said something like, "Well, I guess I don't drink soda anymore."
If only mom had pointed that out to me when I was younger, we could have saved tons on the grocery bill...2 -
I used to eat ice cream quite frequently but noticed I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would when I served up a bowl. So, one day, about 10+ years ago, I just decided to stop eating it. I have had the odd frozen treat, ie., ice cream on a stick, but I never really missed ice cream. My wife loves it and I am OK with her eating it because I really have no interest in it.
I switched to black coffee decades ago and never missed cream or sugar in my coffee.
I never drank a lot of soda anyway and, at one time, I thought diet cola was a good thing to drink while I managed my calories but have since learned how bad diet drinks are, so, like ice cream, I never think about soda. I will have a gin and tonic occasionally but that's the only soda-like drink I ever have.3 -
Soda - I like the bubbles so I often drink sparkling water now.1

I gave up guilt, self-punishment, and regret. I immediately felt healthier and thinner. Best thing I ever did.23

Is there anything you guys struggled with but was able to give it up easily?
Demonizing specific foods, demonizing particular macros, doing things I don't enjoy just to lose weight or eating things I don't enjoy to get so-called good nutrition, "superfoods", clickbait blogs and their stupid e-newsletters, the tedious trendy fitness craze of the moment, expensive highly-processed supplements (especially MLM) . . . .

I was surprised I gave these things up easily and I think it is what made me lose weight easily this time.
1. sodium (no adding salt, no processed foods, or condiments).
2. no artificial sweeteners
3. no sugar
4. no diet sodas or sodas
4. gave up alcohol (this took effort, but mattered).4 -
Over stuffing myself. Somewhere in my brain feeling full was connected to emotional well-being. But it actually feels pretty bad. So it was easier to stop than expected for something I thought was deeply ingrained.11
