Hello everyone My laptop is needing to be replaced & trying to type on my 7" tablet is VERY annoying. I've been dragging my heels on replacing my dying laptop because it keeps making a comeback, but I don't think it's going to this time. Usually when I'd be annoyed by something (like AUTOCORRECT ) OR someone I'd say, it's "driving me to drink." I need a new saying!!!
It just took me 10 min to type that sentence!!! Mostly correcting the auto correct!!!!!!!
BUT I'm HERE for another month for sure.9 -
Happy Thursday, all!
Just thinking this morning about some of the physical/beauty benefits of cutting down or abstaining from alcohol.
When I was drinking just about every day, my skin had gotten to this desperate state of always looking dull, dry, and red. I'd look at myself in the mirror and I just looked a bit more, rough, you know what I mean? And I've never had problems with my skin or anything. A big wake-up call was when I went to Ulta Beauty store to get essentially a makeover by one of the employees. I needed new skin products and was looking for suggestions. Based on my skin, she ended up recommending two products that ended up being big eye openers for me. One was literally called "Hangover RX Replenishing Face Primer" - a primer infused with coconut water, probiotics, and skin revivers that works to "boost skin's radiance, promote elasticity and help hydrate..." The other product was a 5 in 1 skin perfector that contained turmeric, and among other things, was meant to neutralize redness and inflammation.
I walked out of there feeling crappy and knowing the cause of all of this, but it took me a little while to do something about it.
Definitely noticing a change in my skin now... which is more evenly pigmented, hydrated, and radiant-looking than it's been in awhile.
Just some thoughts I had this morning. Hope everyone has a great day!14 -
Hangover primer? I wonder how many beauty store employees have been cussed out for recommending that product.3

@ErynVee thank you for sharing! One thing I'm hoping to get out of abstinence (aside from, ya know, the many other benefits) is some improvement in my skin. Don't get me wrong, it's always been moody, but I know that my regular overindulgence wasn't helping me any

When this group first got going earlier in the year I recall one of the members (not sure which one) who posted before and after selfies of drinking and not drinking - the difference was startling and frightening to see how much of an impact alcohol has on our outward appearance.5 -
I am in for an AF August. My boyfriend and I are doing a whole30 and no alcohol is a part of that. But even if we weren't I'd be trying to cut down. I notice that I tend to overindulge and of course that leads to poor food choices, a lack of exercise, and feeling horrible the next day. Also recently I had an increase in my medications (I have an anxiety disorder) and I think they definitely impact how alcohol feels for me. So I'm looking forwards to abstinence for awhile.9

Day 1 8/2/1812

Today will be day 4 for me. It's been fairly easy so far to resist (weekends are always the hardest for me anyway), but I haven't been sleeping that great. Every single night this week I have woken up around 2 am and just laid there for at least an hour, then dosing off and on until my alarm goes off around 5. It's really annoying me because I haven't planned my normal early morning work outs this week at all because I wanted to catch up on sleep and start fresh with my work outs next week (perhaps not working out is part of the issue too?).
Anyway, I'm sure it'll get better but I'm going to stop by the store after work today and get some benadryl to help me out for a few nights, lol.3 -
AF since 7/29, which means I had zero on my b-day as well. I consider myself a successful moderator but am aiming for AF for August and most of September. At the moment, I'm sick of the taste of any alcohol. Restoring my taste-buds for the upcoming Oktoberfest brews.
Question for the hard liquor connoisseurs.. How long do bottles of unopened Tanqueray gin last? It used to be my favorite but then I lost my taste for 100% hard liquor about 12+ years ago. I have a couple of unopened bottles that people gave me as gifts way back then that have been sitting in a box since they were handed to me.
Are they worth passing along or more worth dumping?

If it has been stored inside your home, it will still be good! If it's been in extreme heat then it's probably fine to drink but may not be as good tasting.3 -

I remember a few people saying at first their sleep was not that good. Then after a week or two, it gets better. I always take one Benadryl before bed, because I’m convinced it helps me fall back asleep quicker. Have a great weekend!2 -

Lorraine, I use to have a password for one of my websites that was , "I love wine!". After having that password for about 6 months, I noticed that I was drinking more than average. I had to ditch the password. I am a true believer in the words. The words that you tell yourself can become your reality. ... That just gave me a new thought. My next password should be ... "I just won a million dollars!" Take care!8 -
