Happy Saturday. This is my weekend to work so here today and tomorrow for 10 hours each. Then starting Thursday I am off for a week. We are going to Boulder, CO next Saturday as our grandson is getting married there on Monday evening. Planning to take our time going out and coming back Tuesday morning. Planning to go thru Imperial as have not been there since mom passed away 2 years next month.
Meg--sending hugs, realize it is not the same. You are such a strong woman. I enjoied the birthday wish for DH.
Had my 6 month checkup with the doctor yesterday and he is very happy with my AC1, it's 5.3. Then I had to get the new shingles shot. I said I got one when I turned 60 a year ago and he said that one is not good and now they have this one and it is 2 shots. One now and one in 3 months. Also going to try antinflamties for my knees. See how this works and if not better steriod shot will be next. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Barbie--Hope you feel better with each passing day. Time is the best with back problems. I am sure the couple understands.
Terry VT--Welcome back, One day at a time. Very nice necklaces and love the fur baby. They can be the best cuddle buddies.
Machka--Good for you sticking up for yourself. I admire you with all you are dealing with. Keeping you all in my prayers.
Out of time for today. Blessings, Vicki GI NE4 -
Barbara The silly trivia question I posed was in reference to MINUS 40 degress Celsius...1

Trish - the Freecycle site is done all by email not phone and if you don't want to see people you just put it out on the porch. I'm amazed at the stuff people go for. You can usually get an idea of what the people are like by their emails. I only answer the ones I like.
I'm a bit sorry to get rid of my boys' stuff as it's very nostalgic, but I feel it's their stuff, not mine. My elder son was delighted last year to have his toy dog back! I might copy one of the photos of his very best girlfriend at primary school. She was Finnish and I became friends with her mum and we all visited them in Finland. My elder son always got on with girls better than boys from a very young age. He is heterosexual, and very macho in his interests, (wargaming etc), but he has a really gentle and emotionally intelligent side to him. I'm pleased he at last has a male best friend at the age of 41.

Terry in VT, your pup pictures reminded me of a Rat Terrier we had that was a comic. His name was Kosmo he is gone now, we really miss him.

Dealing with a migraine for the last 3 days. I am supposed to be sensitive to chocolate and peanuts, but didn’t think of that and had a couple of Dove dark chocolates with peanut butter in them. I think that might be the cause.
Question: if you are on disability with Medicare and a supplemental insurance, does anything change when you turn 65?

Machka I wish the people you are trying to coordinate could be easier to work with. You have so many balls in the air that it is more than enough. The fact you even were able to give them three dates to chose from is amazing. Maybe they typically deal with only retired people who are not busy. I would like to know where they are too. It is frustrating they didn't just pick a date without having you to explain yourself.
I Know when I try to coordinate with more than one friend and sometimes just with one friend how difficult that can be. I had one retired friend who had to pencil me in a month and a half in advance. When the day came she said she had to babysit. Then she changed her mind and we got together for 45 minutes before she had to go. Amazingly we are still friends. She is one who has a hard time saying NO! We now go to exercise 2-3 days a week. She doesn't drive so I pick her up. She is right on the way so it works out just fine. She has had me over for brunches and tea so it is a give and take relationship.
Being respectful of yours and others time is a hallmark of being a good friend. It is something I work on because I am one who does have trouble pacing myself, too.

Hi friends. Things are ok here. Yesterday was summer graduation which took up the whole afternoon then DD#2 and I went out to dinner. Today her best friend invited both of us to lunch, and now we are going to dinner at some friends'. Good grief. I will have to get back on the wagon...TOMORROW. Our friends usually cook healthy, low fat meals, so I'm not too worried but holy cow I think I've eaten buckets of food in just 2 days!
I am loving the pictures, especially the pets and the creative creations!
DH said he laughed so hard when he read my birthday jingle his coffee came out his nose. Someone asked where I found a card like that, I made it up and sent it as an email. But you started me thinking...I may have to get a side gig creating cards for inmates and their special occasions! Wouldn't that be a hoot? We are now down to 29 months left! I can't wait to see him Friday!!!
Sending healing thoughts to those who need them! Seems like we have had a fair number of health concerns lately.
I'll stay and chat longer tomorrow! Everyone, thank you for all your support. Take care, Meg from Omaha7 -
Meg Oh my gosh I think your idea of creating cards for inmates is fabulous. Fun and perhaps profitable, too!1

Karen VA- as usual, when I read your celsius/farenheit riddle, my eyes crossed and my brain floated out of my head. Math does that to me. But curiosity got the better of me after I saw others posting and guessing. I googled it once, twice (because I thought I did it wrong the first time). If Google is right, it is a very strange problem. lol Geez I hate math.2

Home. Wiped out. Son's all moved in, wi-fi on (he's paying) at the stone house. I keep falling asleep every time I sit down. Looking forward to sleeping in my bed.
Love y'all,

Finally got a bird to stand still on the birdbath long enough for me to take a picture.9 -
Terry ... Hi! I remember you (you haven't been gone THAT long) and your lovely jewelry as well as the fact that you have been successful in the past with healthy eating habits ... which means you can do it again!
Re ... I fell 700 posts behind in July but understand that you lost your mother ... my deepest sympathy.
Kelly ... the sunset photography with the coast guard ships reminded me of the old saying "red skies at night, sailor's delight" ...
Dana ... your photo is lovely ... I see a difference.
Heather ... I keep "uplifting" notes and letters as well. There was an author, Barbara Johnson I think ... who used to talk about having a box full of "happy-es" that you could pull from when needing a lift.
MFP sent me a notice celebrating 5 years of being with MFP. I've been very heavy ... made amazing progress ... put it all back on ... lost some ... and am now about 40 pounds over my lowest weight which means I have 80 to lose. But it's a new month and I've resolved to begin again.
Decluttering ... I can tell you that without a doubt, if my house is in disarray ... if the piles of paper are becoming overwhelming ... then my weight is probably out of control as well. If I can keep the major areas of my house maintained, I find my weight loss efforts more successful too ... it takes on a symbiotic relationship.
It has been a chaotic summer so far and this month will be a difficult one. In 12 days we take my YS back to school in Nashville. Helping him get his things together ... he is my major source of chaos and clutter ... I'll miss him but not his stuff.
My OS continues to have health problems. It seems the medicinal pump he had implanted in December is migrating outwards ... trying to push through the skin actually. Won't try to describe this to you all as it's a rather disturbing situation and dangerous as the medicine is pumped through a catheter to his spinal fluid. He is slated to have surgery to remove and relocate the pump the day after we return from taking his brother back to school. We are praying it does not require emergency surgery before then. In the midst of that he is being moved from his current house to a temporary lodging as renovations are made to his home in preparation of being certified. He's not happy about this at all. On a positive note, he's been eating better and showing consistency in hydration which is making a significant difference in his physical and mental health. But I have work to do with his care aides. YS found one of the aides sprinkling sugar on his brother's ice-cream because the blueberries topping wasn't sweet enough?!? Sugar on ice-cream ...
My goals for August are to follow through on medical appointments/referrals. Focus on healthy eating and calorie goals .. not my weight (although I will weigh daily as this has helped me stay accountable ... I just won't let the number dictate my joy for the day). Seriously clean one room per week (have not deep cleaned in ages). And have my backyard deck area weeded by September ... it's a disgrace .. the gardeners on here would be appalled.

Hi ladies,
Re, sorry to hear that your mom passed. That’s so hard. (((Hugs)))
Dana, what a great picture. You look fantastic.
Barbie, hope you are feeling better soon. What kind of bird is that?
Lisa, glad you are home safe and sound.
Meg, glad your DH loved the card. You might be on to something with your card business idea. Start researching girl!
Machka, good for you standing your ground. Good to remind them what’s it’s like on the other side of an appointment.
Rita, yes, Tony is a rat terrier. We inherited him when my daughter moved backwards and to VT and couldn’t keep him in an apt. We just love him. Unfortunately, he can be skidish because of her last boyfriend who was abusive.
Good day today. Actually got outside and we went out for lunch and then did groceries. I was wizzing around on my scooter. Got a lot of looks and smiles. Felt so good. I hadn’t been out of the house in 8 days. I even made it out and back in without falling. DH says he’s going to build me a little ramp so I can get outside during the day. He has to help lift me up steps and it isn’t good for his back problems. He also just had a heart monitor put in so that it will take readings of any misfiring episodes he has. They need to identify where in his heart it’s happening. He has little ones daily and one that sends him to the emergency room about once a year so it may take awhile before they get a good enough reading. It’s all sent to the dr by his cellphone. Amazing.
Thunderstorm late this afternoon. I just love the listen to one and usually sit on the porch so I can watch it. Didn’t go outside but still enjoyed it.
Well I’m tucked in bed and ready to do my nightly reading.
Terry very tired from my trip out and about today.6 -

Rori, love your "be lighter" goal. So apt, for more than just the physical, ok if I borrow "lighter" for my word of the month?
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.
60 g protein 3/3, meditate 3/3, walk one more step 0/3, knee exercises 3/3, core 3/4, walk Tumble 1/4 times, SWSY 0/4, hang up or purge art 0/1
[/quote]
Barbara: I co-opted "be lighter" from our brilliant friend, Lisa. So, sure, you can certainly use it.
Hurt my back today lifting heavy concrete blocks that I use to hold some planters on my deck. Didn't think anything of it until DH and I came back from the farmer's market, and I had difficulty walking. Rested today. Will use ointment and healing thoughts tonight. BTW: The golden beets I've been getting every weekend have been fabulous. I clean, chop and roast them with olive oil, salt and pepper. Delicious either cold or warm.
Take care. We can do this.
