My internet has been splotchy so I got way behind. I think I’m caught up.
I just want to mention a couple of good books on decluttering. The absolute best, most practical advice I’ve ever read is “Decluttering at the Speed of Life” by Dana White. It is wonderful for those so overwhelmed they don’t know where to start. The most interesting thing I’ve been reading is the clutterbug stuff by Cassandra Aarssen. I haven’t actually spent the money to buy her book because I get the gist of it from her videos. She classifies you into one of four different “bugs” based on whether you like to see your stuff or have it hidden away and whether micro- or macro- organizing works best for you. Although I don’t fit perfectly into one box, I most identify with the bee. Her theories make perfect sense as to why we need to find an organizing style that works for us, not some Pinterest ideal that you can’t maintain. These two are a refreshing change from FlyLady and Marie Kondo, although I like them, too.6 -
Lanette FBS? Allergy shots are every 10 days while we are traveling. Once we land back in New Mexico, we will get back to the every other day routine. Unless that is we find an allergy group office in our travels that will let us continue with the original plan.
RV Rita in Cathedral Gorge Nevada for one more night.
Rita - oops, I thought it was you who mentioned your blood sugar (I call it FBS - fasting blood sugar?) was down in the 80's? Well, whoever it was, way to go, lol.

My FBS is at 120, I want to get it down to 80.

Sorry, I misread! Good luck on the 80 I look back at old records and see a decade ago, having a FBS of 90 was the norm for me without having to do anything special like walk more or cut out sweet stuff. Hoping now that I've straightened up it will fall back in line.

Did the pilates portion of Bernadette Giorgi’s Just B Live DVD and the abs portion of the Kathy Smith DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do some hula hooping, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class
Lisa – very insightful about our addiction to overeating. Welcome home! Maybe you can make a folder for 2014 and one for 2015?
Penny – lovely photo, just like all of yours
Vince wants to cut the grass today. We’re just waiting for one part to dry out from the morning dew
Took my car to the Mazda dealer yesterday. They do have the TCM in but their computer is down. So I took the car in case they had time to put the TCM in, then when the computer is up and running all they have to do is check it out. Tomorrow, bowling then ceramics then mahjongg.
Kim – happy birthday. Good for you speaking up for yourself. You deserve what YOU want. A friend was telling me that she used to be in the fashion industry and what they did to keep clothes from bleeding was they’d soak the item in vinegar and then wash it.
I just saw where Loki peed on the rug in front of the bathtub in Shadow’s bathroom. If he objects to Shadow being here, why does he keep going in her room? Well, I washed the rug (admitted, I just got it at Aldi’s), and when it dries I’m going to spray it with that repellant spray stuff. I guess we shall see if it’s effective or not. Jackson Galaxy, where are you?????
Cut the grass (weeds) today. Vince used to use the weedwacker on part of the hill on the side of the house, but now he uses the walk behind mower so I start rolling up the extension cords for the weedwacker. Then I went in the pool. Made brownies for us to have when Jess is here. Made them before we started cutting the “grass”, baked them while we were eating dinner.

Michele, did you say Loki was an older cat? Cats don’t usually pee outside the litter box unless there is something wrong. When our cat started doing it, it was because of renal disease. It was like he couldn’t make it to the box in time so he just peed wherever he was.2

This has been a stressful time for us. Jake is very tired from his treatments and my leg is hurting a lot. He can walk enough to take the dogs out but doesn't have much energy. I have a ton of energy but it hurts to be on my feet too long. We decided that together we equal one whole person. I did the laundry today which is usually his job which allowed him to walk the dogs and have time for a super long nap. When it looked like the dogs might need to be walked while he was still asleep, I went out to the yard with them and sat in my chair on the patio and let them run around in the yard. When he got up, he took them for a real walk. I'll be calling the doctor tomorrow to find out what she wants me to do next.
One good thing that has come from this time of enforced rest is that I've made some good progress with my photo scanning project.

Penny Lovely to see your post; gorgeous photo. You've been very busy! Thanks for catching us up!
Kim I had to smile over your birthday post (Happy Birthday, by the way!). It's so much more fun to figure out what will make a good gift for someone, rather than what you would like yourself. My daughter-in-law is ecstatic with 3 luscious pears, a bouquet of Oriental lilies & a day at the spa. My son wants a gourmet meal at a restaurant with fine wine and then a cigar & cognac or chocolate & port afterwards. My partner loves a 2-3 day trip, preferably to the seaside. Me? I want to spend the day doing a quiet, relaxed pre-planned activity with one or two of my grandchildren, & DO NOT enjoy a big family gathering at a restaurant with singing and a birthday cake. Torture! And no gifts, please, except perhaps a refill on my favorite soap.

Hi friends. I had internet woes all day, so this will be just a quick hello. I had a nice visit with DD#2 and have set up both desk pedalers . I don't remember who was talking about them, but I got two and took one to work. They are kind of fun but harder than you'd think.
Rori and Barbie: get better soon!

Kim - So happy to hear about your birthday determination. You have worked very hard over the years on being more assertive and it is paying off! Also, I do think we get to be more "ourselves" as we get older and less afraid of what other people think. I intend to be a very difficult old lady! Mind you, I'm more than half way there already.
I am 70 next year and I've already booked a cruise for myself and DH for that day. I hate parties and I'm surprisingly anti social, though I don't come over that way. Like Karen, I would like to see the grandchildren and have them help me to blow some candles out on a carrot cake, but I really don't want presents, unless there is something I really want from DH. I had been planning to go to Montreal, or Buenos Aires, , but then I thought, why do I want to give myself all that organising hassle (no one can do it properly but me ) when it's my birthday. Mind you, I have already put a "70" tiara from Amazon on my wish list. I am looking forward to the waiters serenading me already!
It's wonderful that you have so many people who want to give you a great time. That says a lot about you.
I'm hoping that the paperwork on the house will move forward this week. We both woke up in the early morning with indigestion from worry.

If you're on a phone, and you shift the phone slightly, you'll lose your post. Long ones are best typed on a computer (laptop, desktop, etc.).2 -

Painted rocks yesterday. When they're dry I'll post pics.👍
Yesterday I had a nice chat with middle son. He and his wife live in Vancouver WA and seems content and happy. His wife is studying to be a nurse, but will take a semester off to take ENT classes so she can part-time work as one, instead of part-timing at Home Depot. Smart on her part. They seem happy, but sometimes their interactions seem more like roommates than husband and wife.
Later in the day I then received a call from youngest son. He's starting week 4 of his 8 weeks of Operations Specialist school. He seemed perfectly jolly! He said most of his classmates are so young and wet behind the ears! Funny, my son feels so weathered and seasoned sailor because he was in Nuclear school for a time! Failing Nuclear school might have been the best thing that has happened to him. He got a 100% on first week exam, 92% 2nd week, and 100% on 3rd week! Grasping material, and not on the verge of failing, has done wonders for his moral👍💗. But I miss that sweet boy of mine!
Pics of them so you can know them too💗.

Youngest son last Christmas when he had leave! 8 months of not seeing him. Hopefully he'll have leave again this next Christmas.
Well each of them seem like they are going down the road (of life), so all I can do watch and pay attention. Appreciate the moments when they do call and connect. Not wallow in the time between them.💗
Happy Sunday all!

My eldest son's cute Japanese truck at a Hot wheels car meet yesterday! It still needs a lot of work, but hopefully it will be drivable before it gets too cold here. He rides his bike, in his uniform, which has to be uncomfortable!
Love reading your posts, Rebecca! They make me smile and sometimes cry! Reading about not seeing your youngest son for 8 months reminded me of the time my eldest daughter went travelling for a year. It was the longest time apart we'd ever spent. I'm very fortunate that all my three daughters live very close to me.
Love the photo's of your dear family.
All the best

Morning, my BP is improving, so fortunate at this point in my life I can shift choices and behavior and correct course. Just can’t let it slide or take my good health for granted. Will remain very mindful of food choices, tiny steps
Kim happy birthday love your self care and standing up for what you want! Also, great haul from the thrift store.
I’m heading to the discount store to return 5 shirts, I’m keeping 6! Shirts that are appropriate for the trip and a neater/professional wardrobe refresh for start of the school year.
Just read this and can so relate as a teacher: August is the Sunday of summer, so true!

On Sunday my village organized a café to raise money to maintain the old one-room schoolhouse so many of my neighbors went to when they were kids. In addition to coffee and soda we sold sandwiches and various kinds of cake. We prepared a MOUNTAIN of sandwiches and I was worried we would end up with leftovers. (200 sandwiches is a lot when the entire island has a permanent population of only 62!) We did have leftovers, but not as much as I feared. 85 people signed the guest book! I think we did pretty well financially, and only a few of us had to take sandwiches home.
The café ran from 12 to 4, and in the evening those of us who live in the village got together for a barbecue, eating indoors because it had started raining. As we were sitting around chatting, one of the kids took it into his head to guess people's age. He looked at Bjørn, seated on my right, and estimated him to be 71. Bjørn protested that he was much younger than that, and after some "warmer-colder" hints, the 10-year-old finally landed at the correct number, which was 64.
Then the kid turned to me and asked rhetorically "So how old are you?" His mother, seated across from me, warned "Whoa, asking a woman her age, that's dangerous," but he persisted. No problem, though, because his first guess was 53. :flowerforyou:

No workout this weekend, slowly getting into the groove again. Still weak. Glad I got sick now instead of later. MS ride is next month on the 8th and 9th, then the 1/2 marathon in November7
