Cherie - hope you made it thru your tests OK and get things resolved!
Rebecca - crossing fingers your DH's cute little truck is ready to go by the time the monsoons hit. I am thinking of them today, lol.
Meg - which stationary peddler did you get? Did you order the one Janetr gave us the link to? I'll be curious to see how you like it as you get more used to it. Nifty idea with the inmate cards!
Heather - wanted to mention how neat you found your grandfather's house. And to think of you were able to see what he saw through your eyes.
Barbie - hope your doc had some good news - is your PT scheduled yet? Nice to have a fenced back area to let your dogs run until Jake or you can let them stretch their legs.
Katla - Dr. Cate discusses lactose intolerance and advises cheese and whole milk (unsweetened) yogurt - she claims the lactose is digested through the fermentation process. Neat they sell actual lactose free milk at the stores now - gives a lot of folks relief!
Going to be a hot week here - we'll see upper 90's before it breaks I reckon. Will be OK as long as our neighborhood doesn't catch on fire. Even mowing can light a spark and they have banned target practice which might also get a spark going.
Before I forget, I am on the last Episode of Rosemary & Thyme. Loved it! Watched DI Banks before I started this series so will be looking for a new one to get hooked on, lol.
OK, time to feed the dogs and boil water for spaghetti for DH and heat the kitchen up still more. UGH!
Have a good week ladies!

Lizards are a great pest cobtrol! In California we had gecko lizards in the foundation and inside the stucco walls. I would see evidence of them, a tail hanging from here or there, but I had no ants, no nothing! So think of it as nature's way of pest control!

Happy Birthday Kim!!!
Cherie hope all went well.

Thanks for all the warms wishes.
Today tried my patience. Waiting. Sitting. Lying down. Waiting. Sitting. Lying down. All and all a relatively easy procedure. An injection of radioactive stuff. Waiting a bit for it to enter blood system. Lying on a very skinny table for three - 5 min scans of my neck. Center, left side and right side. Lying still and trying to shallow breath and not swallow was the hard part. Plus it was freezing in that room. I got a heated blankie! I had an hour to go home and eat and drink lots of water. Good thing hospital is only 5 min away. Went back and repeated the procedure but without an additional injection. Should know results of scans this week. All in all it was 945 am till 2 pm.
Thanks for being with me ladies. Some of you are going thru so much more than I experienced today and I'm so appreciative of this group of wonderfully supportive women! 😁 💓

Don't mind the lizard. But I kinda mind the lizard parts...5 -

Hi ladies we are having a thunderstorm, so I'm not going to stay on long. Just wanted to check in and say hi.
The two peddlers I got were 1) VIVE exercise peddler, and 2) EnMotion. The VIVE was about half the price of the other one, folds up nicely and it fairly light. I took that one to work. The EnMotion in more of an elliptical peddler. Or however you spell it LOL. You can use the EnMotion one sitting or standing. I like the both. The VIVE requires you to sit up pretty straight and the other one you can kind of sit back.
OK, must run I see lightening! Take care Meg from stormy Omaha5 -

Dana - you look great! And happy...
Penny - so good to see you, as well, glad you had a terrific summer.
Re - if you're checking in, my deepest sympathy. My mother's been gone nearly 20 years, and still, there are edges on the memories of losing her.
Rori and Barbara - you're welcome... Still trying to be lighter myself.
Frankiesgirl - I remember you... and have great sympathy. We have all used food as a coping mechanism when our troubles seem too large to bear any other way. It changes the way we're feeling, if only for moments. It was literally my drug of choice, to try to blunt the pain I was going through in my personal life, and to make me feel loved, even if only for a few moments. I also ate too much as punishment, for being too pretty, for being too needy, to wrap a blanket around myself so I didn't get hurt too much. Please note, this is in hindsight--I didn't make it to that realization until I was over 300 pounds. We invest far, far too much emotion into food. This does not make you a bad person. That feeling of eating until you are full, if not over-full, is sometimes the one thing that stays the same in lives that are chaotic, painful, and stressful. Until I figured out that food did not love me back, and that the feeling of over-satiation wasn't love, and it wasn't punishment, it was just overeating, I didn't start to change things. We don't have a food addiction (everybody does, without food, we die), we have an addiction to how overeating makes us feel. I don't have a magic bullet to make that different, as everyone's path to that particular truth is individual. But the truth is there, if you reach for it, and you're the only one who can... you have that power, and you have that possibility.
Sorry, didn't mean to go all philosophical on the subject, but I think it's really important. Food is not love, it is fuel for the engine that is your brain and your body. Until we pull emotion out of it, we can't address it rationally, and we can't start treating ourselves well. Building a new relationship with food is key, however you choose to make that happen.

Feeling more myself this morning, after getting nearly 7 hours sleep last night. Egg was purring on my lap, kneading my tummy, nipping my elbows as I was trying to type, and now checking my entire office for anything that she can slide around on my chair mat to make noise, as well as checking my bag to see if I brought anything back for her. Corey's asleep, washer and dryer are both going, and I'm feeling like I'm where I'm supposed to be for a few more days.
Someone said I sounded a bit stressed. I was honestly doing OK with all my upcoming travel, with my boss leaving, and then my counterpart in El Paso leaving, but then I was given access to the departing manager's email to make sure nothing got missed on her current workload. When I went to look at it, I found that her inbox was a) so full it was throwing warnings out that deletions were necessary or no mail could be received shortly and b) it was so full because she kept emails back to 2014, the year she started with the organization.
In her inbox. My head exploded, pretty much on the spot.
I keep my inbox super clean, with all emails either filed or deleted, minimum once a week, sometimes daily. It's part of how I handle my workload, and helps me build my own to-do list, as I go through it. The thought of going through THOUSANDS of e-mails to try to make some sense of things added a burden that suddenly made everything bigger. Thank you to whoever said that I sounded stressed, because for whatever reason, it made me ask myself "why?" and that led me to identify the final straw that made that burden too heavy. Now that I know that, I can quit avoiding her email, go clean it up, and quit feeling this way. The rest I can handle... much like eating an elephant, one bite at a time.
So, while the world is asleep, I'm about to go over and get all savage on that inbox. Everything from 2014 to 2016 is going to get deleted out of hand. That will help a LOT. Then I can deal with the rest.
Love y'all,

I would die! I can’t have emails in my inbox that have been dealt with. It drives me insane. No wonder you got stressed.
Have fun with that electric chainsaw!

My doctor is out of the office all week so I won't see her until next week. I have physical therapy scheduled for August 14, 21, 28. This is clearly an opportunity for growth. I am learning a lot about patience.
Kim, Happy birthday and congrats on speaking up about how you want to celebrate. It took me a long time to make it clear to my loved ones that I don't like to go out to eat and I don't want gifts.
Pip, glad you are back to being active.
Cheri, glad you got through the test

Did 5 minutes hula hooping, held my plank for 3 minutes then took the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Prevention 400 Calorie Burn DVD.
Went to bowling then picked up my car. As I was driving up to ceramics, that AT light came back on. Grrrrr….. I’m supposed to take it in tomorrow. The original exercise plan was to do a downloadable spinning routine, but now I’ll do something at home. Went to ceramics then mahjongg. Found out that if we purchase bisq somewhere else, we’re supposed to pay them a few dollars for the paint. This is the first we’ve ever heard of this. Really, that’s not a big problem, and it’s not like you pay every time you paint. You pay for the use of the paint and for them to fire it.
Katie – Loki isn’t real old, I’d guess him to only be about 7 or 8. What we’re thinking is the he might be somewhat jealous of the fact that I’m spending time with Shadow so I’m trying spending less time with her. I guess we shall see how this works.
As far as gifts go: I would rather someone give me something I need and will use rather than something they think I might like because many times it turns out that I really don’t like it and just wind up donating it.
Before we left for bowling, I called about my car and they said it would be a few hours. Well, when we got home I called again & was told that it was ready. Really, Vince wasn’t planning to call until later. Glad I did call when I did
Cheri – glad the test is out of the way for you. Now it’s just waiting for the results
Meg – as we were going to pick up my car, it was misting by our house but, boy, did we go thru a downpour! I actually had to wait in the car before going into the dealership. But by the time I’d paid, it was just misting out.

Done my run. Talked to the milkman, who stopped his electric van to talk to me, about the illegal dumping in laybyes that is so common around here. Car parts, fridges, rubble, etc. The council has to come and pick it up and we, the tax payers, have to pay for it. If I could catch the b×÷+@×÷# I don't know what I'd do to them.
It's nice that milk in glass bottles is coming back into fashion because of the plastics awareness. We haven't signed up for it because we are moving, but we will do so in Hove. My DDIL is super anti plastic, anti nitrates, anti this and that.
Another day at the coalface of decluttering. I spent a happy hour looking at storage and display ideas on Amazon last night. Found some fabulous brightly coloured, shiny boxes for my docs. And some stands to display my children's books. Plus a pull out thing on wheels to go next to the fridge. Happy me!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
Just to clarify - I haven't actually bought the organising stuff, just put it on my wishlist. I will wait to move before I decide exactly what I need and what colours.
DH is going to ring the solicitors today to check how far they have got with the docs they need to send on to us.

Heather Did you find major appliances to fit your kitchen space? Curious about how you solved that dilemma.0

Regarding email ...
I'm with you!! I don't like anything in my Inbox or Sent Items. It makes me feel uncomfortable.
I've got a filing system I've used on all my computers (work and home) since sometime in the 1990s. Obviously my folders at work are somewhat different than my folders at home, and folders between one job and another are slightly different, but the basic setup is pretty much the same.
Usually, the only time there's something in my Inbox is when it's something I've got to deal with soon. And the minute it is dealt with, it gets filed.
Even then, if it involves a project I'm working on, all the emails for that will go into a designated folder whether I've dealt with them or not so that everything is all together in one place without being cluttered up with anything unrelated.
I like Outlook ... I just wish it would allow me to colour code/categorise my folders.
Anyway, I was able to get into my husband's email accounts so I could monitor online bills etc. and discovered that he had NO folders created. Everything was either in the Inbox or Sent items. I almost had to reach for a paper bag to hyperventilate into!!
I've fixed it now. I just couldn't leave it like that!

Good Tuesday!
I am caught up again reading, but didn't take notes. I am trying to stay busy with home and work. Time is flying by so fast that September and travel will be here faster than I anticipate. I am encouraged by all the decluttering occurring! I too took the declutter quiz. It said I was also a lady bug. As long as the visual stuffs are cleaned and organized, I can overlook the other for a while. One step at a time. Last night after dinner and cleaning the kitchen back up, I tackled the stuff I have been throwing into the guest room onto the bed. I spent 1.5 hours, shredding, and putting away stuffs. That closet and those drawers are a MESS! Again, have to wait on those until November. My stuffs, but hits panic button on husband. Currently still working on deep cleaning visual stuffs.
Had a great weekend. Enjoyed the car show, won a top 80 trophy, and spent time with friends. Even managed to get some laundry done. I bought a small notebook to keep track of goals for work and home. Will see if it works;)
Actually had over an hour active minutes yesterday, including dancing to 2 songs while cooking dinner.
Healing thoughts to those struggling with health issues!
Safe travels and great memories to those traveling!
Welcome to the New Ladies! This group is so inspirational!
Have a blessed day!

This up coming week is my birthday (Wednesday) and I’ll be 60, I am finding it to be interesting as for what ever reason this year, I am being a bit opinionated about what I want to do, I am not accepting what others decide what I want to do or get for my birthday. ... It seems I have had to correct everyone who wanted to get me something or take me somewhere… and it’s working I am going places I like and getting things I’ll enjoy, but my friends and family are all a bit shocked at finding out what I like – about time! And it’s weird that everyone has been we are going… I’m getting you… no one has voluntarily said what/where would you like for your birthday.. I am bending a bit with my mom, so came up with a compromise that is much closer to what I want then her idea. I am not sure if it has always been me going along or if things have shifted…
Happy Birthday and Good for you!!KetoneKaren wrote: »Kim I had to smile over your birthday post (Happy Birthday, by the way!). It's so much more fun to figure out what will make a good gift for someone, rather than what you would like yourself. My daughter-in-law is ecstatic with 3 luscious pears, a bouquet of Oriental lilies & a day at the spa. My son wants a gourmet meal at a restaurant with fine wine and then a cigar & cognac or chocolate & port afterwards. My partner loves a 2-3 day trip, preferably to the seaside. Me? I want to spend the day doing a quiet, relaxed pre-planned activity with one or two of my grandchildren, & DO NOT enjoy a big family gathering at a restaurant with singing and a birthday cake. Torture! And no gifts, please, except perhaps a refill on my favorite soap.
My birthday in March was exactly what I wanted ... a 300 km bicycle ride on the Saturday, followed by dinner at a Mexican restaurant the next day, then the evening at our favourite Speedway in Tasmania.
It seems to me that there was chocolate involved somewhere in the weekend as well.
My birthday falls on (or near) a long weekend here in Australia, so that's even better.
My birthday has been made all the more special because it's one of the last things my husband can remember before his accident. It's a bit patchy, but he does remember elements of it. After that, it would appear that he has no memory.

My doctor is out of the office all week so I won't see her until next week. I have physical therapy scheduled for August 14, 21, 28. This is clearly an opportunity for growth. I am learning a lot about patience.
I've skimmed through the old posts - I was way behind, having missed ALL of July - and have caught up on developments, both positive and negative. Way to go on finding your forever home, Lisa! I checked out your blog and you sure have your work cut out for you! To those of you who have homes on wheels: congratulations and commiserations as appropriate (flash floods and fireworks and old friends and rejuvenated husbands and all). I won't mention certain other people who are in the process of relocating. I don't want to jinx anything!
I've had a couple entrancing interactions with birds this summer. In New Hampshire, I was out early one morning picking blueberries to make muffins. As I stood there, a female ruby-throated hummingbird flew up and inspected me for half a minute. She hovered so near my face that I had to tilt my head back to get her in focus. Seen that close, she had beautiful filigree patterns in her feathers.
The other interaction was back in Norway, at our island paradise. We have no fans or AC, so during the heat wave, I slept with open both bedroom windows slightly open on their hinges. We also don't have screens. (Not needed! No mosquitos here!) The windows were only open about three inches, but it was enough that a curious great tit hopped in from the windowsill. I woke to the sound of chirping and fluttering. There's something magical about having a small bird flying around your bedroom! I threw both windows wide open and he flew away unharmed. But I had goosebumps of delight for some time after.
Here's a photo from Sunday's fundraiser café at the village's old one-room schoolhouse.
The kids had two weeks of school then two weeks off. In the off weeks, the teacher would be at another school on another part of the island. This was before there were any roads to speak of. Some kids would walk several miles along rough paths to get to school, or be taken there by boat. They tended to board with relatives during the week and only go home over the weekend (and during off-weeks, of course). The balding man in the white teeshirt in the center of the picture is our farmer neighbor who keeps sheep and goats. He attended this school himself.

Hey ladies! Happy Tuesday! Nursing a headache this morning. Not sure why I have one. Maybe due to the air pressure? It has been a rainy couple of days (we need it, badly). Anyway, it is making my brain extra fuzzy this morning. I will have to run out a little before 7am so I can cast my vote in the primaries. Maybe hubby will come with me to negate my vote...
Pip-Cute pup pics! Is that Floyd with the Rubber chicken?! And I love the pic of Yogi, smiling! Such a happy boy!
Heather-So excited and frustrated for you as your move gets closer to happening!
BArbie-I hope the past few days of meds and rest will give your doc an idea of the next step on the road to recovery for you!
Kim- Ooops! I missed your birthday?! So sorry but sending you the best wishes for another wonderful year!
Penny- So happy to hear from you! Glad to hear you are running again! Thought of you the other day when one of my three year olds showed up with a Map of the World T-shirt and it showed "the Svalbard Islands" Waaaaaay up by the neck of the shirt! lol
Allie- So sorry to hear about your job stresses! Take care! Sending hugs!
Dana- You look fantastic! So happy! You are just glowing!
I will leave this here for Pip's pup; but it's a good one and gets me laughing everytime I think of someone marching down the aisle to this! lol Please invite me to this wedding!

Happy Birthday, Kim! I hope your day/week are all you want.
I had that "fight" with DH's friends this year about "surprise" party. I don't do parties and "silly" gifts. I have enough stuff already. It was a huge issue. I am currently saving $ to go on a trip with my girlfriends when I turn 60. It will avoid all the drama, AND I get to spend time with people I really like I am amazed at how something as simple as listening to people has become so hard for folks. My daughters both had my back though

And speaking of birthdays ... it's my husband's birthday today.
There was a time I wondered if he'd make it to this birthday, so it was great to see him smiling and baking his own birthday cake this morning before I left for work.
We had some of it when I returned from work, and it's good. He made it from scratch, following a recipe. I'm so pleased it worked for him!
