What nobody tells you about losing weight

That you get drunk faster then you would expect...
I poured myself a drink that I normally would have been okay with at 155 lbs. I was not intending of drinking enough to get "drunk". And yet, there I was completely schnockered on just 1 drink! It went straight to my head! I wouldn't think that 17 lbs. would make that much of a difference. But as a short statured woman apparently it does. Lesson learned.25 -
- How upsetting it is to prepare a lunch that not only fits perfectly into your diet but is actually good and then forget said lunch on your counter.
- How annoying it is to have friends/loved ones keep offering you junk food even after explaining that your on a diet. I know I'm not the only one wondering if my friends and family have secret meetings on how to sabotage my progress.18 -

Oh, man! The bolded will wreck my whole day. I hate when I do that!!!8 -
As long as it's something that won't immediately go bad, I'll just think of it as something to look forward to when I get home.

This happened to me after a pint of cider one sunny afternoon (I discovered it was 14%!). Now any cider is limited to a half and I look for lower strength4 -

I left my breakfast and lunch at home one day last week. Luckily my boss told me to go home and get it. 15 minutes each way wasn't too bad.5 -
what is your secret? i’m new to this site and i lost 15 pounds my first month following low carb and now on a week long plateau! i want to lose 50 more pounds and it’s frustrating me that things aren’t budging. intermittent fasting seemed to stall thing out so i’m back to just low carb and 1200 calories a day.1

No secret. Just eat what you like, and make sure it fits in your calorie budget. Use MFP's guided set up to figure out your calorie goal.13 -
Everybody has a plateau, mine last for about two weeks. I start to get loose in my logging, and that slows down weight loss.8

One week is not a plateau. Not budging for a month is. Also, 15 pounds a month is a bit excessive. Take things slow and think long term.18 -
I run a tight ship. Lost 80 lbs and have maintained it over 2 years by logging every day and logging my weight daily in Happy Scale.
I've noticed a trend... over-the counter painkillers like paracetamol and NSAIDs make my scale weight jump about 1 kg (2 lbs) the next day.
Yet another of the many things causing day-to-day fluctuations.17 -

I had this last weekend. I had two pints of cider (one 6% one 5%) and I felt definitely more than a little tipsy. Very unexpected!4 -

Hey, even as someone tall I noticed a difference! ;D But I'm pretty happy with it. Drinks are EXPENSIVE. And I'm cheap, so if weighing less means I don't have to shell out as much dough, that's just one more benefit!7 -

Same here. I've recently found myself getting slightly merry on tiny quantities of
Wine. Never was a big drinker, but I never seemed to ever feel drunk. It's quite odd.4 -

Very true! I've always been kind of a lightweight though, so now I'll have to be a little more conscious about how fast I drink. Back in my 20's 1 drink every 2(or more) hours was more then enough to keep the buzz going without going into overly drunk/trashed territory. (I really hate being actually drunk.) 2 is usually my max anyways. I was also lighter then. 21 year old me never realized there was a correlation between my weight and the limit on what I could drink.3 -
Yup, I noticed I've become a lightweight, too. Used to be, beer and wine basically did nothing for me. I'd need a quarter of a bottle of liquor just to get a buzz. Now, two glasses of wine and I'm done for the night!5

Nope, not everybody. I lost 65 pounds, all the way to goal and a little beyond. with no plateaus.16 -
How adamant some people are about their weight loss method. As if x worked for me, that means this is the only valid way to lose weight.
