Happy Birthday, Carol. New hair, new you? Hope it's your healthiest year ever.
Wendy: Your imagination is off the charts. Love it, and envy you.
Barbie: Sorry to hear the backache continues. Hope there is an answer and you find healing soon.
I took a page out of Barbie's book and installed a used recumbent bike in our living room today. DH likes it, and since he currently does his exercises in the living room, he promises to be a frequent user. For me, it's where I expect to be sitting in the evenings while watching news and sports. Hoping to generate what Heather terms "bonus" calories in addition to what I do in the mornings.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

Regarding breakfast ... I have the same thing every weekday:
A cup of black coffee
A tall glass of cold water
Machka in Oz1 -
Rebecca, I have had almost exactly the same breakfast every day for years. I have about a dozen simple meals that I rotate for lunch and dinner. The less I have to think about what to eat, the better. It is a system that works for me. My life continues to get simpler and I love it that way.
Carol, Happy Birthday. I've never colored my hair. As it started to get gray, I liked it and let it change colors on its own. it's one less thing I have to think about.

Did a spinning workout today. Boy, it’s been a while since I’ve done that! The plan for tomorrow is to go to the deep water class
M – please don’t send those winds to the US. Stay safe
Katla – I don’t think we’d leave Newcomers. Too many good friends. And I know Vince enjoys shooting and I enjoy bowling. If we left, I’m willing to bet that no one takes that over. Same with Rummikub. I stop in to Facebook probably every day, but mainly to play Words with Friends. I don’t care for a lot of the posts
Tracey – awesome loss
Went to the Mazda dealer to get my garage door opener out of the car and a few coupons. I didn’t think it would take this long for them to fix it! While I was there the guy told me that they put in a new TCM but the computer still says there are problems. I bet they’re going to be REAL careful before they give it back to me. I honestly don’t care. I have a loaner car. I’m just trying to figure out some of the features. After exercising, bought gas. Now doing a load of laundry then will probably go in the pool. Vince has shooting tonight.
Mnewell – so sorry about your friend. Hope your son heals fast
Rebecca – a whole head of cabbage is sure better than a whole carton of ice cream, look at it that way. I usually don’t have the same thing for breakfast. But then again, my breakfasts are weird. Like tomorrow I’m planning to have peas, protein powder, blueberries, and chicken broth.
Barbie – I wish you could use exercise, too. I’m a bit surprised that the p.t. didn’t suggest exercises for you to do in the meantime
My carbs are always high. It’s the fruit that kills me. I love my fruit.
Groundlocked – welcome! What sort of job do you have? Congrats on that loss!
Margaret – way to go girl on having that peach instead of the peach pie! I always find it so interesting that I’d rather have the fruit than a pie/muffin/whatever.
Carol – happy birthday
My facebook comments are mostly “congratulations” “happy birthday” or “happy anniversary”
Lenora – didn’t you recently fall and now again you did! Take care, girlfriend!
Rori – soon you’ll need side-by-side recumbant bikes in your living room, one for you and one for dh!

Flight was cancelled on Monday, and the airline booked us for Very Early today. We had to get up at 3:30 A.M. to make the flights. Here I am, far too early in the morning
When we got here, my brother was off to take his young puppy to the emergency vet, so we did not go over to see him and papa. We will spend all day tomorrow together.
So, we stopped by my sister’s work place - did I mention that she works for a cat rescue and placement agency? We met some of the feline long term residents.
Before we went to our room for the evening, we stopped at a grocery and found ourselves across the street from one of the greatest things about downtown Chicago: on days with a gentle breeze in the right direction , this chocolate factory sends heavenly smells wafting through the west part of downtown. I always knew about the factory, but it is tricky to locate - so I never saw it in all the years I lived there. Today, I laid eyes on this place that gave me so many instances of unexpected joy.
So, papa tomorrow. (Yes, my brother’s puppy will be fine.)

Wendy Oh! The lamp-post in the forest!!!
Carol Happy Birthday, belatedly. Many many happy returns!
SueBDew in TX congrats on DGD's graduation.
Welcome groundlocked, let us know what to call you and generally where you are.
Continued excavating the hole for the dwarf apple tree, it's wide enough now and looks like a hole instead of a mine field.
A few more days' digging should have it deep enough to transplant. Then a rest before digging holes for the mulberry bush, dwarf peach and dwarf cherry tree. What WAS I thinking???
There was more but I'm pooped . . .zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yes, Janet, that is really what the book I am reading is about. And how true! So many of us drag around with us dead relationships, dead friendships, obligations, etc and the physical clutter is a representation of that. The clutter tells us something and we need to listen to it. It is easy for us to get stuck with old ideas, habits and limitations to our growth.
Rori - Yes, bonus calories have really helped me. I count the 600 I do in the morning and more or less eat them back, giving me 1800 to play with. That gives me a lot of leeway in my eating and stops me feeling deprived or that I am "dieting". That amount only just maintained my weight at 140 lbs and it had a habit of creeping up very slowly. I have found adding a 200 or so bonus exercise into the mix, which I don't log, or eat back, means that I can easily maintain, or even very slowly lose. Today I will be doing an hour on the recumbent bike after lunch while catching up on some great tv.
Love it!

Odessa to El Paso today... Meeting my new partner today, replacing the fund development manager in El Paso that I've worked with for the last year so successfully. Then Carlsbad and Artesia tomorrow, bouncing all over southeast New Mexico the rest of the week. All is going well... Happy birthday, Carol!

Yo peeps
I finally lowered my weight on my profile 1-1/2lbs. I still can’t get myself to lower it what it really is even tho I have been at this weight for more than 2 weeks. It’s really should b 5lbs lower5 -

Yeah Carol! Frozen margaritas sounds amazing! :drinker: I'll be 70 next year, so I'll be joining you.
DH has been having anxiety attacks recently, along with IBS. It's mainly at night, so he's not sleeping. I suggested we take ourselves off to the local pub tonight so he can have fish and chips and a pint of beer. There is usually something for me on the menu. Last time I had duck and watermelon salad. We rarely go out just for us, normally with friends, so it will be a nice change. It's a very informal space, but quite "country pub" like. I have put my face on and will wear my blue tasselled earrings.
Must do a short declutter session after my afternoon avocado and homemade Greek yoghurt. With tabasco.

Carol: Happy Belated Birthday!!!!!!! :flowerfroyou:
Barbie: I lightened my hair once in my 20's. It wasn't worth the trouble so I never did it again. I did have a perm in my early 30's. It was not a good job. A neighbor claimed to be a beautician, but she certainly did me no favor. That was a lesson that I never forgot. I never had another perm, and doubt that I ever will. :noway:
Michele: I am happy for you that the Newcomer's group is still something you value and enjoy.
I nearly missed a city meeting last night and although I studied diligently, I felt unprepared for parts of the discussion. The meeting was very long & DH was already in bed when I got home. The dog got me up repeatedly in the night, too. :grumble: I hope that today is less stressful..

It's Wednesday ladies!
Pip - one of the neatest things about your "before" pictures was the look of love on Kirby's face. I am so thrilled you two found each other. Glad you are feeling better and enjoy the ride up on Whidbey.
Barbara AHMOD - I am totally impressed by your trail carving/hacking skills. There's something very special about little clearings in the forest like that. Oh, and hole digging! Hope it's cool and unsmokey down your way.
Katla - that's right, you had that city planning meeting. Our area also needs affordable housing. Before I retired I was the admin for our engineering department and we dealt a lot with traffic issues and upgrades to existing roadways, stormwater, etc. We were the thorn in the side of the developers, lol. Brings back old memories - that was one of my favorite jobs.
Barbie - good luck at your doc's and hope they can find what's up with your back. It's encouraging that you are able to move more but disappointing the PT didn't have good news. Sending healing thoughts!
Ok ladies, short and sweet. Back out to water before that red sun starts heating us up.

How do I join this group?
I am turning 60 in December, currently 173.5 and 5'5" tall. I have been tracking on MFP for 27 days and have lost 6# so far. I have my calories set at 1200 and my macros set at 50% carbs (seasonal veggies, berries and whole grains), 20% fat (olive oil, avocado, some cheese, etc) and 30% (lean) protein. I've been on pretty much on target with calories and seem to go over on fats so I'm decreasing red meats.4 -
Stunning day on tabletop mountain in capetown. The air was so clean and crisp. We spent hours just walking around the perimeter. So gorgeous !!!
Then we wandered back to hotel by way of citi bus (including transfers) which we prefer to taxi or private tour, just to see how folks really navigate their own city. Lovely lovely day
NYKAREN9 -
Lanette: We have brown air this morning. Yuck. Our planning meeting last night was productive from my perspective, but the developer has to redo some things and wasn't thrilled with that news. They're in a hurry so I'm guessing they'll be back with the revisions by next month. The residential neighborhood across the street was well represented with people who are not happy with a major apartment complex so close to their homes. We have a serious housing shortage here & the project will help with that issue. I enjoy participating in the planning process.
galinazo: Welcome to a wonderful group! You can find us again easily by clicking on the blank star at the to of the page. It will turn yellow. From then on, you can find us by clicking on the yellow star. As to nutrition, we all have different strategies. I have a higher protein & fat proportion in my diet than some people choose. It suits me well and I feel energetic and healthy this way. It took me a while to find my balance, and I'm happy with it. Be patient with yourself and stick with the calorie goal that MFP sets for you. They will gradually lower your allowed calories as you lose weight. :flowerforyou:
Have a great day, everyone!
