Morning! make sure all you newbies find us again on next month's thread. Our fearless leader barbie will post the new September thread later tonight.
Glad that it's Friday, DH and I have plans to run errands together (we both have a 1/2 day of work) and then settle up on the bills to pay for the trip, time to pay the piper

Katla - Have you got a photo of your grandson? If you don't want to post one because of privacy, that's fine.

OK girls, just got a phone call to say that our buyer's buyer has pulled out of the chain. ...........................!¡!¡!¡
Silver lining is that our buyer is prepared to refinance and take out a new mortgage so they can buy ours without selling theirs. This will take around two weeks to arrange they think. #×+÷%=~<▪
I'm just hoping the onward chain will hold ok.
To say I'm fed up is an understatement.
I had a feeling about the buyer's buyer. I'm usually right about these things.
Can't do anything but roll with it. Hope the patience stretches down the chain.
Haven't told DH who is hopefully enjoying himself at the cricket. Tonight will be soon enough.

Merry Christmas! lol Happy Friday, all! Tim was out when I began my decorating last night, so when he walked into the living room all decorated for Christmas, he just looked at me. Then he said, "You don't do this for the kids, do you?" lol I was definitely in my happy place last night with a mini tree with lights standing in the corner surrounded by presents, a few Christmas decorations on the mantle and above the tv. Jingle bells on the door knob and a wreath hanging on the door. I baked a small ham last night for the kids lunch today, and made a dozen sugar cookies for decorating. When he walked in I had a Christmas movie playing and a cup of hot cocoa in my hand (not on my meal plan; but worth the splurge). Bliss!
I have decided that the robins egg blue of my living room is going to look really nice at Christmas time. I wasn't sure, but it's going to be fine. (My walls used to be yellow)
About the gratitude journals/thankful books for the kiddos. YOu all give me too much credit. IF you worked with small children for many years, you would notice quickly how self absorbed they are (they are kids and haven't learned to think about others yet, so not really their fault) and the holidays bring on "the gimmies" for those over age three. Years ago, I started having the kids make thankful books at Thanksgiving. I also do monthly "trees". For instance, September will have an apple tree hanging on my wall. Each day I will ask the kids what they like about fall and write their answer on an apple cut out and hang it on the tree. October is "what do you like about October", November is "What are you thankful for?", December is "What do you want to GIVE for Christmas?". For my own sanity, I had to get them to start thinking of others because I couldn't handle hearing "I want, I want, I want..." anymore!
Which brings to mind, I am in the process for forming a partnership with one of our local assisted living centers. I have organized three other daycare homes and what we are proposing is having each daycare home visit the center once a month for a multi generational craft, activity, music time (probably a one and a half-two hour visit). I am really excited about this, because this was one of the things I wanted to accomplish with our provider network that started last November! Sorry...babbling...but really a multi-generational experience...!!!!
I can't believe August is almost done! This summer flew by; but I am ready for fall.
Hugs to all that need them! I have a busy day ahead, so I better scoot! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)7 -
Ugh! Heather! My hats off to you. That chain would drive me crazy! BUT, it sounds as if your buyers really want your place! Fingers crossed for you!1
-
Heather - hope it all works out, and the rest of your chain holds... bless your heart, what a frustrating experience!
KJ - My hat stays off to you. I'd be hiding in the closet at the end of the day hoping the littles wouldn't find me.
Family is headed this-a-way from over in Oklahoma this morning, got a four-day weekend of accomplishing stuff ahead of me... Can't wait!
In the meantime, I've got to sit down and get the plan of work sorted for the next fiscal year, so it won't leap up and bite me next week. Gonna be an interesting week or two ahead of us.
Love y'all,
Seeya in September!
Lisa in AR4 -
Had a call from our vendor's agent today to say the vendors are willing to hold on for us "because they've been so nice". Of course they are just as frustrated as we are.
I've just posted a side/hall table on Freecycle and someone is coming to collect it right now. Had two applicants. It's a great upcycling project.

Heather, how frustrating for you.
Allie, what good news about your umbrella
Kelly, I admire your energy and creativity. Watch for some more books in the mail.
Starting the new thread for September is on my "to do" list so I'll have it posted before I go to bed.

Good morning and Happy Friday!
Allie - so glad your umbrella is being replaced! Loved that photo of you and your friend on the boat. And glad your paycheck came through. Geeze. Hope the sale of your dad's house goes through quickly and you can close the door on that chapter.
Lisa - glad you came back lighter from your trip. What great progress for the year!! How perturbing to deal with that insurance company. Have a great weekend working on the Mountain House.
Heather - I'm sure you and your DH will pinch yourselves once you finally get moved.
Karen in VA - Cute photo of Olivia! What a sweetie! So sorry to hear about your fridge kicking the bucket. Ours was three years old - top of the line Amana - when it croaked a month after the extended warranty expired. We paid to have it fixed which lasted 6 months then something else broke. So we bought an el-cheapo one and had them haul the nice one out, destined for the dump. The interior light went out in the new one after a year, but we can live with that. VERY aggravating!!!! Waste of hard earned money. GGRR.
Sending healing thoughts and hugs to Suebdew and Barbie and Oregon Coast Barbara and Rebecca and anyone else who needs them right now.

The guy who came to take the table was going to take it to Spain for his new house and upcycle it. He said it was perfect. We had a chat about grandchildren. Don't know what I did before Freecycle! In London I put stuff out on the pavement. It always disappeared!
I went for my run. Nothing better for getting rid of adrenaline. I listened to MAKE ME A CHANNEL OF YOUR PEACE and DON'T LEAVE ME THIS WAY. Both fabulous podcasts. I did pipe my eye.
Going to make chicken, lentil and spinach curry for dinner. With green beans. I will put a few potatoes in it for DH. The IP keeps stuff warm, so it will be ready after I collect him from cricket. I will make a raita with my IP yoghurt.
India are having a good innings.
My DSIL, who brought my brother over, was telling me about my niece, who is 19. She has a uni place, but is postponing it for the second year running. Mental health problems, including cutting herself, suicidal thoughts and morbid obesity. So very sad. There seems to be a lot of it about.

Heather you'll wow 'em in your new sexy black dress. pics, pls! email wouldn't get it out of my system, I'd camp out on the solicitor's doorstep and personally walk the doggoned papers through every doggoned step. Enough! Buyer's buyer pulled out? Heart goes out to your neice and her family.

Allie "forgot to pay" you? "noway" Glad the umbrella company will replace the defective one.
KJ you are one of the angels amongst us. Finding ways to teach the little ones to think about others? Organizing daycare/assisted living for multi generational activities! What gifts of love!
Lisa, scootch over, I'm hiding with YOU!

Lisa in AR - I think you deserve a vacation after the work weeks you have had lately.
Allie - Good for the company to send you a replacement umbrella. Sometimes all it takes is to ask.
Heather - That house chain business is sure frustrating. I don't know how I would do with that.
Rebecca - I hope your maneuvers keep working and you feel better soon. That cake looks scrumptious!
Kelly - Merry Christmas! - I would be doing it for me too if I could get away with it! I love the idea of the multi-generational visiting. I have read studies that say that it is healthy for both the children and the seniors. I wish the manor my Mom was in would do something like that. My Mom is the youngest most mobile resident, I think she probably feels alone at times and could use some brightness in her days.
We received word last night that my wonderful MIL had a heart attack. She had one in June 2016 and they actually had to revive her, she had 5 stents put in at that time. Truthfully I don't think she has ever fully recovered from that one. She will be 73 in December. She still works and refuses to rest. She delivers flyers every Wednesday to about 500 homes. 5 other days a week she goes and sits with an elderly neighbour who has Alzheimers and cooks her meals. She also takes her great grandchildren quite regularly for sleepovers at her insistence. I don't think she knows how to rest and relax properly.
I have talked to my SIL this morning to see how she is doing. They will be sending her to a bigger hospital to have more tests that the local hospital is not capable of doing. In the meantime, they are concerned that her kidneys seem to be shutting down. They will be keeping her in the hospital for a while.
When I talked to my MIL the last time about a month ago, she had told me that she had lost weight and was wearing a size 12. About a month before that she had told me she was wearing a size 14. Last night we when we were talking to my SIL she said she is wearing a size 10 now. My husband didn't know what that meant and wasn't concerned. I am very concerned about it. This morning when my SIL and I were talking she has agreed to make sure the doctors look into the rapid weight loss as well. She said, and my MIL told me, she just doesn't have an appetite anymore. She is not even drinking coffee, which was her staple. She would drink probably 2 pots of coffee a day by herself, if not more.
I think I need to figure out a way to come up with a couple thousand dollars. I have been trying to figure out how to get home to see my own Mom who is in the manor, but now I think we need to get home for his mother as well. Not sure how I'll make this a reality. If we didn't have to pay any bills, we could actually do it!
Tracey in Edmonton, wishing she was in New Brunswick6 -
Tracey - that does sound worrying. 73 is no age at all for all that to be going on! Hope they find out what's up.
KJ - The senior/youngster mix has received quite a lot of news recently over here. Nurseries are being set up on the same site as elderly homes and they have regular get together sessions. Wonderful! I join with the others in praising your great efforts. I hope you get a good rest this weekend.
Had a nice nap.

Heather: I’ll see if I can post a photo of baby. My kids are very protective, and I’ll ask DDIL if it is okay. :flowerforyou: I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you are able to go ahead with the move.
DS and his family are heading back to their home today. I’ll be driving them to the airport and coming home alone. :ohwell: The visit has been fabulous and we had a great time with them. We went to the Portland Zoo, the Oregon coast, and Saturday Market. All of those are fun. DS’s best friend since 2nd grade came out for a sail and a meal along with his family, and we attended two concerts in the park while they’ve been here. We have been very happy.
