If You Eat Cookies, Cakes, Ice Cream Daily Do You Consider Yourself Dieting?

You have to be able to eat in a way that is sustainable for you. If you only eat “clean” or think of it as a diet it will backfire on you. I eat healthy Whole Foods most of the time but I sure love my chocolate and have it every day. It’s the only way I can eat at a deficit without feeling deprived.12

I'm not a fan of creeping diaries. It's none of my business. And it's none of yours. Public slagging of people's diaries is exactly why this thread was started, so I guess it seems we've come full circle.
At least we know who's wearing the superior slacks.
People look at other diaries and make judgments all the time on here. Just because it's not what you want to hear or don't like it doesn't automatically mean she's coming from a mean place doesn't seem like that at all. If you take offence to it or feel some kind of way, that's a personal issue within yourself.
People may look at other diaries; someone dragging them into a public conversation to slag off another person who said something they didn't like is another thing altogether. It was completely unnecessary. If you can't see that, then I suggest that's a personal issue within *yourself*. You've been passive aggressive and downright rude. You're coming off as an immature teenager just because some people disagreed with your rather narrow views of how you think people ought to manage their weight, which, incidentally, is none of your business. if you want to defend this person's weak attempt at public humiliation that's your lookout, but it's a pretty poor showing on your part.

OK, caught up. The food-shaming is ridiculous. What makes people think "junk food" is completely devoid of nutrition? Let alone the number of us who calculate our calories and nutrition on a weekly basis? Although I have to say I believe some of the *kitten* stirring is more along the lines of baiting rather than actual discussion points.
I just had vegan hot dogs for dinner. They gave me about 25% of my daily protein and about 30% of my iron. They also had more sodium than I would usually have in a meal, and I'm guessing they don't count as "clean." I enjoyed them and plan to have them again soon. They fit my daily calorie goal. Are they "junk food" or not? Wearing the judgypants is tough.
How many ingredients did they have? And could you pronounce all of them? We can't judge without all the information.
17 and I can pronounce them all, but I got a biology degree. I don't know what people eat if they don't have science degrees. Taking chemistry classes means you get to eat more foods since you know what all the ingredients are, right?
I wouldn't eat it though - it was for an electrical insulator part.

I am waiting on my annual restocking order right now! Should be here any day now
I admire your restraint in placing only one order a year. I go through Fox Point, smoked paprika, minced and granulated garlic, and granulated and minced toasted onion ridiculously fast.
The highlight of a recent trip for me was getting to go to an actual Penzeys store. I fangirled so much that they gave me four bumper stickers for all the people who have seen mine and wanted one, and they asked if I also wanted one of the employee aprons. They were REALLY fast to clarify that they were joking about the apron--I might have taken them up on it otherwise.
I order big bags! We go through a ton of smoked paprika, too. Also ancho chili, French thyme, cumin, pizza seasoning, and Maharaja
There's a store about 90 miles from me. Smells. So. Good!! I could just wander around sniffing things for hours.2 -

Not because of losing weight more to do with the other health problems you may end up with.
I dont think anyone was seriously suggesting making chocolate cake or 'things like that' your only source of food, were they??dragonghost wrote: »@paperpudding i guess i touched on a sensitive subject.

If I understand @dragonghost correctly, he made two points in his first post:
1) There's nothing wrong with eating things like those in the thread title once in a while if they fit into your calorie goal.
2) It would not be a good idea to make things like those in the thread title one's only source of food, because of other health problems one might end up with.
@paperpudding responded to say that no one had suggested making chocolate cake or things like those in the thread title one's only source of food, implying that @dragonghost's second point was moot.
@dragonghost replied that he appeared to have touched on a sensitive subject, on the grounds that @paperpudding's food diary shows that:
1) the caloric value of her snacks was almost equal to the sum caloric values of two of her other meals, and
2) the caloric value of her largest meal was almost equal to the caloric value of her junk food (presumably meaning her snacks).
So, @dragonghost -
Did you mean to say that @paperpudding seems defensive about chocolate cake and things like those in the thread title being her "only source of food"?
Because either I misunderstood her response to your first post, or that's the complete opposite of what she said.
Also, having creeped her food diary myself, I found that her snacks added up to less than 31% of her caloric intake for September 4th. And what she ate on September 4th is not representative of how she ate on any other days in September (I got tired of creeping before I got as far as August).
(My guess is that having 31% of her calories come from tasty calorie-dense snacks could mean that @paperpudding was either having a very good day, or a very bad one. And my opinion is that in either case, the polite and decent thing would be to leave her alone about it.)

Interesting.
I point out that nobody has suggested eating chocolate cake and similar as their only source of food and you respond by looking at my diary and making a snarky comment.
No I don't think I am sensitive about this subject and not sure how my comment led to that conclusion.
I have also said many times that I make no claim to eating clean by any definition and that I follow lazy logging, just enough accountability to myself to keep in maitenance.
One lazy thing I do is record something wherever it has been recorded before - so if it is in,for example, my breakfast list but I eat it for dinner, I log it as breakfast.
So what you think was my biggest meal may or may not have been.
( not sure why size of meals is relevant)
Nor why anyone wants to comment on my personal diary at all - how is that relevant when I have made no claims about my personal intake or request for input on it ????

I haven't posted in forums for ages, but this thread caught my eye. I eat cookies, cake, ice cream or potato chips daily. Not all of them every day. But at least one of them almost every day. I have maintained my weight loss for over a year. Because portion control is a thing.
To be blunt, I'd go nuts if all I ate was lean protein and green vegetables (and I don't even want to think about how much of them I'd have to consume to hit my calorie target!). I have higher cal days and lower cal days, and I log them all. Because, at the end of the day, all that matters are the averages. Bodies need fat, and if I want to have a lettuce-wrapped burger and yam fries for lunch, that's actually a pretty decent choice all things considered. If I want to have chocolate every day, that helps with the fat intake too (which is something I've always struggled with).
Why do I log if I'm not "dieting"? Because logging gives me awareness. It lets me know how many calories I can or can't afford on an evening snack. It lets me know if I have lots of calories to spend at dinner or if I should be a little more frugal. And because if I don't log, I'll probably experience portion creep and see my weight start to climb again. To prevent that, I log.17 -
