Today shall be a good eating day. Having some leftover aujus gravy, with rice and dipping some Wasa crisp bread in it. I hate to waste leftovers!
My momma deer and baby were in the backyard from morning to dusk, just chilling, sleeping and eating. I go out to the sun room and sit and watch. When I pass the windows I wave and smile. I want them to not be startled when they see me. Husband wants to scare them outta the yard! Nooo I tell him!
Made banana bread mini loaves last night. I will have 75 grams of one today!
Here's what they look like. Drool city huh!!!
Well time to get ready for gym.

Thank you Barbie!
I really could do with some motivation to be consistent with my fitness. Good luck everyone...2 -
Day 4 no pop. I decided I had to do something. My son works for coke so he was getting me 3 cases of 20oz bottles every 2 weeks plus I would get fountain pop when going anywhere. Yes it was diet but that is a lot of pop. Today the headache is letting up some, but edging.
Lanette--Interesting posters, thanks for sharing. I have done that before with the wash. To many things on the mind.
Tracy-Fall is my best time of year. I hope all works out so you get the washer and dryer. My DH and DBIL replaced our washer a couple weeks ago. I can tell a diffenerce in the clothes
NYKaren--Sorry to hear about your friend, hopefully she will let you be there for her.
Heather--What a Blessing you and DH can work together as a team. My DH and I try and it does work most the time.
Lisa--Hugs and prayers. You are a strong lady and I am proud to be your friend. Asking for a cart at the airport is just another way to take care of yourself. It is not like it will be forever, you knee will be replaced and then you can do all the airport running, until then take care of yourself. (is that not what you would tell any of us)
Janetr--Thanks for the update on DJ. Keeping all those in the path of the storm in prayer. My youngest sister lives in SC and so far they are not in the area to leave.
Time to get some work done. Blessings, Vicki GI NE4 -
Is anyone here an emotional overeater? I was in an abusive marriage years ago, and put on my weight at that time. I have been divorced now for 18 years...raised my two daughters alone and now that they are in college, I feel it is way past time to deal with my own struggle of this 100 extra pounds...maybe more like 140 extra pounds. I have managed to keep it on for the past 18 years no problem! I ask myself if I have kept the weight on for security? for protection from being hurt in a relationship?
I do need to set myself free from this weight mentally. I have read many self help books and have started many diets and then something seems to happen and I fall off focus.
I do feel this is my main problem. Is there anyone in this group with advice or a similar history?
Have a great Wednesday.....I'm praying for those of you from the Carolinas.
Elizabeth

Rebecca: Love your deer. :flowerforyou:
Okie: Glad you are feeling better.
Barbie: I am a clutterer and so is DH. The area around my computer desk is my clutter zone. The rest of the house is okay. :embarrassed:
M: Ask friends at work whether they’d recommend their dentist. It may help you narrow down the field of possible choices.
We are back from our trip and it was a good one. I’m happy to be home and ready for some rest, but there is a lot to do to get the RV put back to bed in the storage unit. I’m doing laundry at this very moment.
Good lucktor all those who are in the path of storms.

Elizabeth, Eating is only one way people soothe themselves in emotional situations. Other people use gambling, drugs, sex, alcohol, shopping, There are 12 step programs for all of these that help sufferers find a power greater than themselves along with support of others to get away from these crippling behaviours. It all begins with wanting to find a solution. The women on this thread are all in search of a solution and if you read, listen, and participate in the discussions, you are likely to get the help you seek.
Abstinence turned out to be my solution. I made an eating plan, committed it to the food diary on MFP and stuck to the plan no matter what even if it meant sitting at the computer and playing solitaire while watching the clock til time til my next planned meal. Next I added being active so I would leave the house and walk rather than staring at the refrigerator. Best wishes to you in seeking and finding a solution.

Machka Magnolias and ... something I believe that white ones are just another type of Magnolia. I love the purple and white ones! Ouch! I hope you can find a dentist soon! Co-workers can be a good source of info there, most will have one that they like and some that they don't! Could narrow down the field for you.
Katla, glad you enjoyed your time away.
Janet, thanks for checking on DJ, I miss her too. Seems like she dropped out shortly after I started and that was almost a year ago!
Rebecca and the brooch, LOL, yes a scarf would definitely be necessary!
Barbie, glad to hear that you are starting to feel better. Back pain is certainly no fun. Hubby has a herniated disc in his lower back, trying to get in to see a Neurosurgeon, not an easy task..... It's nice that our healthcare is free, but oh my, the waiting lists....
So, two successful days under my belt, so to speak. And the scale is showing it! Little miffed this morning tho, had arranged a gardener to come and cut back some trees that are encroaching on our house. Actually, just to cut off some branches from a neighboring (empty) lot as they are brushing our roof. That will not be a good thing in the windy winter that we are likely to have. Anyway, he was supposed to be here around 9, it's now almost 11. I could pretty much be back from the gym already, but here I sit, in my workout clothes, waiting.... Hubby doesn't get mobile til about now, and is will not be ready to receive guests for a few more hours. Frustrating. I think I'm going to change and try to figure out a different way to get a bit of a workout in. I do need to clean house, so that involves up and down the stairs, stretching, bending etc. I'll just have to make it work. Ugh! he just showed up! Well, still not going to get to the gym, it's just too late, too much stuff to do. Oh well, between housecleaning and going for some groceries, I will get in some activity!
Hugs to those in need, congrats to those celebrating (I'm one!) and welcome to the newbies!

Emotional eating I am definitely in that category. Been doing that a lot lately. Not sure why, maybe habit, boredom, stress, who knows. I need to make a conscious effort to stop.
Hosting has been interesting. Met someone from my old hometown in Connecticut! 3,000 miles away from home! Lol had lots of common things to talk about. Fun!
We have a raccoon problem here and can’t figure out how to deter them and even get them to leave. Lots of rules and they are protected due to being in a state park. That is the worst thing we’ve encountered so far.
RV Rita at Bottomless Lakes State Park in Roswell New Mexico2 -
I drove the car today for the first time in three weeks. Jake decided at the last minute that he didn't want to drive home from the long visit to the eye surgeon where they would dilate his eyes. The two friends who would have ordinarily been available at a moment's notice were totally unavailable today. It was too late to call a bunch of people so I decided I could safely drive. It went fine. Now I have the house to myself for three hours until I have to go back and pick him up. My biggest concern about taking him to an appointment was all the time sitting and waiting, but with this long appointment I can eat my lunch and then lie down until he calls.7

Rita - nice seeing a photo of you and your hubby! Who's the fella in the striped shirt? LOL! Roswell looks like a lot of fun! Raccoons are our nemesis.... they are so smart and cute and yet, such pests . I'm afraid we've always resorted to the .22 solution. Which it appears you cannot do! You look GREAT by the way!
Barbie - that is such good news you are able to move more and drive. I don't blame you for not wanting to sit at the doc's office - good timing that you could have some relaxation time. So good also to hear Jake is doing well with his treatments and taking everything in stride.
Rye - forgot to comment earlier about your DH being the crazy cat lady, lol. We've had lots of cats in our lives, most of them super lovable barn and shop cats. I am jealous of Kidd Kirby - we never had a house cat that nice and cuddly! Enjoy your kitties for me, they make me sneeze (but not like they did thank goodness!)
Rebecca - you have all the makings of a cat lady, lol. Our twin fawns are quite at home here and have really done a job on the beans and tomatoes. I'm OK with it really, because the beans are dry beans so they are just eating the leaves and leaving the dry pods - saving me work. The tomatoes are nearly over so if they eat up the fallen and rotten ones and much down the plants, that's less for me to yank out and toss on the compost heap. I think their job is done tho and they need to move on with Mommy some night.
Our deck guy's wife is dying of cancer and he's home with her today spending some last moments. I was kind of surprised he spent all the time here on Labor Day weekend and evenings last week after his regular job finishing up our deck, but I think that's how guys work through their grief. He'd take off after a couple hours and say, "I'm going to have dinner with my wife." Kim's disease was pretty quick, just diagnosed several months ago, uterine cancer and once they'd figured it all out it was in her lungs and bones so stage 4. I worked with Fred for years and he was one of my favorite road supervisors. I'm not normally a funeral person but do plan to stop by and pay respects. I'm so grateful his kids and grandkids and parents and in-laws live nearby. He has such a big heart and she did too.
Welcome new folks, by the way. So much great advice and support here. We are all heading the same direction, some taking different paths - we are respectful of all paths which is what I love about these ladies.

Rita love it! Do you have hard shell coolers to put your food into? Trunk of a car? Yes racoons can be a headache. My mom had one (we called it the critter in her attic). It sounds like a dog was walking on her roof. The can carry rabies so do not approach one.

Ok my lunch of warm wilted spinach, a cup of cottage cheese, cut up cucumbers drizzled with balsamic dressing didn't cut it. I'm chomping at the bit still!
Was nice to my legs and didn't jog on the treadmill today. Just quick walking! 30 minutes worth!

Love love love your pics Carol . What a great event. Your gs and you have the same smile!!
Rita those pics with the aliens are a hoot! Good luck with the trash pandas—cute but horrible annoyance
Elizabeth love barbies advice about handling emotional and addictive behaviors. Yes, you can dig deep for causes as well as work on forming new habits to address stress eating, as well as meal planning that keeps you full of healthy food choices. It is a long journey, but well worth taking it one step, one choice and one bite at a time. We’re here!
NYKAREN3 -
Carol in GA - I had both my eyes done about 8 years ago. I had one corrected for reading and the other for distance. It’s called “mono vision” correction. I’ve never seen better. The surgery is VERY low risk. I urge you and DH to not fear it. Discuss the options with your doctor.
Your grandkids (and you!) look wonderful. I bet you’re very proud of them.
Lanette - Yes, Nick is in Issaquah, where I and my youngest both live. About a block apart. I know the Beaver Lake area since it was on my route delivering bundles of papers to the kids’ shacks for the Seattle Times. Have you been around here long enough to recall the big blue trucks? That is what I drove. Incidentally, I’ve done detergentless laundry a few times too, as well as having to “re-do” a load of dishes for the same reason. Didn’t quite trust the latter to be ok with just hot water! Lol!
So sad to hear of Fred’s wife. So many cancers sneak in and do their deadly work until it’s too late. List my mother when I was 18, and my little brother before he was 60. I hate cancer!
Snowflake1968 - Where on earth are you that snow begins so soon? Most of the Arctic I’ve traveled in usually waits until late September! Brrrrrr!
Elizabeth - Welcome! It is indeed possible to eat too few calories. Our bodies think we are starving and tend to use less calories, making it harder for us to lose! It can be a real problem. One day may not trigger it, but doing it steadily will slow our loss to a crawl.
I too am an emotional and boredom eater. 12 Step Programs like Overeaters Anon can help immensely. Did you ever have a support group for the abusive relationship, or any counseling? We punish ourselves until we truly realize just what caused us to think we deserved to be hurt/punished/devalued. It’s hard. Some of us know where you’ve been and have found our way out to being able to unconditionally love ourselves. We deserve the best!
Evelyn on Vancouver Island - kudos on getting moving. One of the things I look forward to most after gastric bypass. I keep meaning to explore your island more. I’ve only been to Victoria several times.
Rebecca - I think that’s hilarious too! Sounds like a good plan! I usually have a wolf spider or two as winter guests. I kind of like them. LOVE the jewels! I’m a nudist, so “butt naked” works for me. I have a string of freshwater pearls that I wear constantly so I am always well-dressed.
Janet - I’d pin the brooch in my hair! On my head.
Lisa - PLEASE take that knee to your doctor. A sore knee can throw your gait off enough to stress other joints and cause more damage.
Matchka9 - What a splendid picture! I love magnolias, and the other plant is a clematis, I think.
Barbie from NW WA - it is indeed chilly. It seems like autumn was in a rush! I hope it changes by the end of the month to that lovely week or two of “spring revisited” that we have sometimes before it becomes the true NorthWet!
Vivki GI NE - Congratulations on going pop-free! I am doing my carbonated fruit-flavored store brand pop half and half with water and complementary flavored drops. It IS hard, but bypass surgery requires being carbonated and sugared beverage free after, so I may as well get used to it now.
I’ve lost another pound! Woohoo! Kitties are keeping me warm in this sudden onset of autumn. Thoughts and wishes for the best to all on the east coast!4 -
I love September is the new January- really encouraging! So I am starting over and I am going to try really hard and try to stay on this thread because I know how much it helps. I have been doing really bad so my goals will be do-able so I don’t give up.
Goals for this week:
Stay within calorie allowance 3 days this week
Drink water with meals
Log all food.4 -
Good Evening! Just popping in! Love the pictures! Flowers, grands, husbands, crafts! Keep them coming.
So my butterfly came back the next day and played on my toes for quite a while. So cool. Yesterday was a foggy and gloomy day most of it. My husband and I did go up to Anekeesta in Gatlinburg. Was a nice ride on the chair lift and love the wooden trail through the trees. Started raining early, so played pool, hot tub, and early bed. I heard a deer blow at me yesterday. Never saw it, but it wasn't happy that I was on the porch. Saw a box turtle under the porch. Had a hummingbird attracted to husband's red shirt this morning. I am loving the relaxation.
Bought new tennis shoes a couple of weeks ago. Tried to wear them last Friday and ended up with really bad blisters on right heel. Wore others since then. Decided to try them again today while walking the strip, about 1 mile of walking and my left heel hurt. No bandaids in sight and truck was a mile away. We both looked at each other and said just take them off! So I walked the mile in my footie socks..my heels thanked me...I am always barefoot at home so that part was no problem. I told my husband he didn't realize he married a hillbilly! Made it to truck with just dirty socks, bandaid, and different shoes. Walked another 3 miles after that. It was a great day! Dinner and drinks at Margaritaville. Now relaxing on porch.
Prayers for those in need of comfort, healing, and safe harbor!
Congratulations to the safe homecomings, losses, and new additions!
Welcome to the new ladies! You will learn who folks are if you keep checking in. Chime in as you can, know that you can't keep up with everyone, every time. Life happens!
Will send pics when can. Husband wants attention Not that he hasn't had my attention most of the day-LOL!!!

Trucker, do you attend a resort kind of nudist? I would so like to find some place in Washington where I could go sans clothes!

Carol Wonderful Grandma photos with the kids!
Lisa I think you should pretend you are still working for the newspaper and are researching how well airports accomodate people who need assistance getting from one gate to to another. What a bummer that it's hot & swollen so many days after the injury...
Janetr Thanks for checking on DJ. She is dear.
Rebecca You will be the Best.Grandma.Ever! Congratulations!

Our furnace is really old. We had our HVAC people out a few days ago for routine maintenance before winter gets here, and they found cracks in the housing. The unit is so old the parts are obsolete. Thi$ i$ going to co$t a lot of money. They had to cut the gas off to the unit! Not that we would be using the heat any time soon...but they said they didn't want us to get carbon-monoxided. These guys are serious. Our HVAC service is provided by an ethical local family business. They do all our HVAC & plumbing. They were so solemn and professional when they broke the news to us. They want to meet with us in person to discuss our options. $$$

My 12-year-old grandson gets LENS treatments. LENS = Low Energy Neurofeedback System. He had a treatment yesterday. Then he didn't sleep well, and today he was SO fidgety, irritable, & distracted. He was plucking my last nerve. He said if he had been at "regular" school it would have been a "bad day". He hung in there & didn't have a meltdown. I thought about putting off his Civics Unit 1 Test until tomorrow, but he wanted to take it today. He scored 100% on the test! I think he was thrilled. Now listen to this. After his work was all done & he finished his exercise for PE, he wanted to listen to James Comey's book on tape. He says it's interesting. He is a unique child. I hope tomorrow is a little calmer. He was practically sliding & jittering out of his chair. I told him he could stand up if it would make it easier, but no...

Did Kathy Smith Step Workout today. The plan for tomorrow is to do an Advanced Strength DVD.
NYKaren – I hate food waste, too. That can be a problem when someone doesn’t finish everything on their plate – I many times will finish it just so that it doesn’t go to waste. I am getting better about throwing out something, tho. I keep telling myself “better in the garbage than on my hips” and “better on the homeless’ hips than mine”. I know that’s mean, but it does help me. I don’t like eating the same thing day after day. I like some variety. That’s one of the reasons why the freezer is my friend
Wendy – come in lots. The women on here are wonderful. Welcome!
Janetr – thank goodness my mouth wasn’t full when you asked Rebecca where she’d put that broach. I would have spewed everything in my mouth on my screen otherwise. Thanks for the update about DJ
Katla – welcome home
Lisa – get one of those carts!!!! I don’t like the sound of this taking so long to heal somewhat. I know as we get older it takes us longer to heal (I hate to admit that, but I’ve unfortunately found it to be true). Please take care of your knee
Vicki – I’m so proud of you giving up soda. Although artificial sweeteners are low to no calories, they can cause you to overeat
Elizabeth – in addition to a nightly eater, I am an emotional eater. If I get really upset about something, I usually turn to chocolate or fat and sugar
M – when I was looking for a dentist, the first thing I did was decide on what I wanted in a dentist. Like I wanted one whose feeling was “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. Vince is the opposite.
Rye – I envy you being there. Love those statues
Exercised, then had a Newcomer general meeting (I’m actually starting to count down the number of meetings that I have to go to), strung some more popcorn, then ceramics tonight.
Loki peed on the bed again (after going a few days of not peeing) and for the first time ever pooped on the floor. I don’t know what gets into him sometimes. Sometimes for no reason at all he’ll suddenly really go after Bonnie. Fortunately, she’s small enough that she can fit under things. He’s done this even when Shadow wasn’t here, so that’s not it. We’ve been giving him attention, so it’s not that he’s looking for attention – even negative attention. Jackson Galaxy – where are you?
Rebecca – try adding a little bit of healthy fat. A tsp of olive oil or some nuts.
