Sadly he won't likely get leave before he goes to Japan, and I am really sad about that.. I had a good cry earlier, I just miss him so! Its been since last Christmas since I saw him. Now even longer. I told him to take a pic of his boot camp pic.

Aaah, Rebecca:- well done and congratulations to youngest son. I can imagine how sad you must be about not seeing him for such a long time. I suppose you were expecting his long posting to Japan because of your years as a Navy wife?
I was curious and googled Whidbey Island and it looks a lovely place to live.
Keep your chin up
All the best

Pip - Love, love, love that jacket!
Cathy - Your mum looks terrific!
Saturday is reading the newspapers day. I will do some cycling after lunch for my bonus calories. There is a tv programme I want to watch.
I'm going to cook the Easy Crustless Spinach and Feta Pie for dinner today. Anyone who doesn't know it, it's from the Skinny Taste website. We have a third each for dinner and a sixth each for lunch the next day.
So, a quiet day, but I didn't get to sleep until 2 am with head whirring. Good job I had an improving book to read.
Yes, I will really miss my beautiful lanes when/if we move. The best times were during the heat wave when I was out there before 6 am, running in the cool, dappled light. I hope to be running along the promenade in Hove, when the weather is good, or, in the winter, in a small park nearby. In Hove everyone is running, or cycling, or skating, or exercising on the grass.
When I was there last year for a week I couldn't understand what all these young, smart and beautiful people were doing sitting in cafés on a weekday. Why weren't they at work? My son told me that they were actually working, having face to face "meetings" for their entrepreneurial businesses. There is one such café just round the corner from our proposed house. Plus a lot of 'ladies who lunch', of course.
Mustn't think about it as it could all still not happen.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx10 -
Happy Saturday! had a poor night's sleep but am moving on Regular chores to accomplish and hope to get in a nap. Scale is moving in the right direction towards my Sept goal of feeling lighter and resetting my body's favorite weight, I would like it to be at 130lb, but it has been creeping up and up, I sort of accepted 135 and settled there for 6 months, but guess what it's been creeping up to 140lb and that is not the place I want to be. I think the culprit is night time eating once again (who here is with me on that one!)
Anyway, have a great weekend everyone, NYKAREN8 -
Heather - deepest sympathy on the "mustn't think about it as it could all still not happen," part of that equation. It's not easy to try to shunt something aside that we want really badly, especially when it's life-changing events like moving your whole life to another space.
I was genuinely hoping we could get moved into the mountain house by mid-October, but it's looking like mid-November at best. Being able to work only on the weekends has slowed things down considerably, but my one non-negotiable requirement is that the main bathroom get fixed. At this point, it's dangerous for me, as it requires a step up and then into a bathtub, on floors that are iffy at best.
Corey and I can fix a lot of things, but as the drain must be moved to accommodate a step-in shower, it's going to require professional assistance. Which we will have, but it will take time to get it - and having to get certain things fixed for the insurance requirements delayed us a couple weeks, as well. I know ours is delays while yours is having the whole thing in a fragile chain depending on others, but I mean it sincerely when I say my sympathy knows no bounds. You're a tough woman, standing up to all this for the last year.
NYKAREN - It's really helped to declare the kitchen out-of-bounds after 7 p.m. It also helps that I'm in bed by 9 p.m. each night. Tired doesn't really cover it.
Love y'all!

Rita love your pics!
Whoever is walking her mom’s rescues one at a time, brava! Those are some lucky dawgs.
NYKaren I am so with you there on that late night eating. Phooey!
Pop cute mobile of hanging airstream.
Way over on CICO and likely again today.
DID sort through 4 of the six jewelry boxes last night, will knock out the last two today. Expect to give 4 to god daughter and her girls to enjoy, play with, sell, donate, whatever. Bringing only two small boxes home. Keeping Mostly memories of Mama and Papa, and two good things. Letting the rest go. Those of you who know how I struggle with this will be proud.
Later and lighter, lovelies!6 -
NYKaren - I’m a big time snacker. I save a huge portion of my calories for evening snacks. I know if I ate bigger meals I wouldn’t want to snack (for hunger at least), but I like to snack so I just plan for it. I know when I’m away from home I don’t snack like I do at home.

Michele ~ Your trip sound dismaying! So many little snafus. Glad you are home again safe.
Heather ~ Yes, that lane is lovely but I would be a little scared of going down it in the dark and even during the day. Where I live, there is so much crime on the news every day that I would be fearful.
Pip ~ OK....that can't be your air steam hanging up in the air. I suppose a replica of some sort. Remember, I'm an old lady.
I have gained 4 lbs over my usual weight and must make the effort to get back to what I know is healthy eating.
Carol in GA1 -
NYKaren- I so TOTALLY understand!!!! I was close to goal, then got lazy about logging, moving, and eating. It slowly came back on. Now I am fighting back. We can redo this. Journey! I am glad that I have you ladies to join me on this journey.
So was talking with a friend about my weight. He honestly didn't remember me being at 155. I had to have my daughter send me a picture. Here it is
I am on the far left, youngest daughter and oldest granddaughter in middle, oldest daughter on right. My body likes to plateau at about 125. I am happy to be lower now.
Ladies, You are a wonderful group! More touching base later. Breakfast calling my name.
These were taken yesterday. The first was taken while we were walking and about 1 1/2 miles from truck. The second taken from the truck on our way back to cabin.
Have a blessed day!

Kylia ~ You are a very pretty lady even at 155. My weight stayed in the high 120's until I got in my 50's. Since then 40 lbs has crept up on me. Ugh!1

I kind of figured that. Big wind chime!2 -
Lisa - I am in awe of all that you are doing in your new house. I could take on a doer upper as I had plenty of experience of that when I was young, but at my age now I would only do it if I had the money to pay someone with vision (and who was reliable) and I didn't have to live in it while the work was going on. Our potential house is liveable in, but is quite tired. Our first job is to get an annoyingly placed radiator shifted. As I have no money I can't really just command work to be done and have to negotiate carefully with DH. He does not have vision and is generally happy with comfortable. That's ok. I'm at the point in my life when I'm shifting into minimal mode. Minimal possessions, minimal commitments, minimal stress. Maximum pleasure. I read all the decor magazines and watch all the garden design programmes, but I know it is unlikely to happen. I will have to content myself with a stroll along the sea front and an artisan ice cream.
If it happens.
By the way, Lisa, this saga has been going on for two years. This is the third house we have tried to buy in the same area. We gave up for a few months in disgust and then started again last autumn. Our original decision to move was Sept 23rd, 2016. I know because it was Edie’s 3rd birthday. You could have picked me off the floor when DH said he wasn't averse to moving to Hove.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to offload onto you lovely women, thank you, and for all the amazing improving books I have been reading this year. I don't think I could have got through it all without you, or them, plus my running.
Carol - the main danger in the lane is getting run over. I haven't heard of any violent crime round here. We don't have any burglaries either. I don't go out in the dark anyway. I do feel safe enough, but I am sometimes startled by a passing bike I haven't heard, or a truck coming too close. The joy of running really early in the summer was there were no cars passing me, just the occasional push bike, taking their early exercise. Sunday mornings are good because the trade vans are absent.
The only crime is people dumping serious amounts of rubbish in the laybys. Fridges, builders rubble etc. Once I ran past a whole car in several pieces. The fly tipping is a big problem . The council are very good and quick about picking it up, but it costs us, the rate payer. Our lanes are so beautiful, you can't believe the selfishness and ignorance of the b#÷×+÷# that dump it. Grrrrrrrrrr!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx9 -
Happy Saturday Ladies!
Heather - I love your little lane. Walking or running in peaceful shady surroundings like that is the best. A short part of my walking route in the is a private road similar to that with a heavily forested state park on the one side. I nearly always see something interesting and lately have been able to grab a few ripe blackberries. Crossing fingers you'll be moving to Hove in the near future. Stars lining up and all that.
Karen in NY - Here's how I cope with the night time eating. I really like the intermittent fasting idea of 16 hours (or more) between the night meal and next day meal, so if I stop eating at 8 pm and don't eat until noon the next day (or later if I'm not famished) I can plan to eat up until bedtime. Now then, depending on what I eat that late at night it can be a problem so I'm careful to just plan for a nice bowl of yogurt or cottage cheese with a little fruit. (Dairy is my friend!) I found out I need some carbs before bed anyhow to keep my blood sugar from going wack-o when I get up in the morning. During the 8 or so hours of eating I make sure I get plenty of protein and of course healthy fats. I know this wouldn't work for everyone. So I'm like Okie!!
Michele - welcome home! You had an interesting trip for sure. Lots of things to be aware of if ever visiting on St. Kitts! How long does your daughter's schooling last there... is it a couple years?
Rebecca - thank you for posting the photo of your son. Will you be able to have video chats with him? At least something like that would be better than letters...which guys aren't always good at writing. Sheesh, eh?
Pip - looks like good cool riding weather. Neat jacket and so glad you made your goal! And superb job Kirby getting the deck stained, we had a couple good hot drying days. Our deck is done and stained, I did a little touch-up yesterday before it clouded over but should be OK. I see the water beading up on it. So the next thing is getting some type of mats or carpeting for this fall and winter since it will be slipperier than snot once it freezes over. The deck guy offered to mix some sand in with the stain but that wouldn't make a dent as it too would be covered with the equivalent of frozen rain. I order a 10' roll of "ice carpet" from Harriet Carter that DH might be able to staple down, we had something similar (I think) we used on the old deck.
The deck guy and his helpers were very easy to work with. Did things a little differently than what we'd discussed but are happy with the result. We might have him redo the shower -- like Lisa's house, it has a step plus the fiberglass has a crack (fortunately not leaking and rotting the joists and subfloor). However, DH and I have decided that's the end of remodeling/fix up on this house unless something just plain breaks, leaks, or is something structural and needs immediate attention. Part of it is the money, part of it is the stress and interruption to his otherwise peaceful day.
Barbara AHMOD - good job in the sorting and giving away. Very proud of you for tackling that. When do things return to normal at your house?
Rye - your photography "art" is always stunning. Oh, and I don't think I congratulated you on your BMI!! Your before and after photos are a testament to your dedication and journey to better health. Your bod is in such good shape!! Are you sure you're not in your 30's???
Kylia - love your vacation photos. Little towns like that are so neat, like stepping back in time. That photo of you, your daughters and granddaughter - I thought you were sisters!!
OK I need to get crackin'. Have a good weekend ladies!

Michelle So glad you are back safe and sound! Miss you around here. I know how stressful a trip with all those dismaying small irritants can be. I was so stressed out after my last ‘vacation’ (delayed flight, canceled flight, flat tire, flash floods, WEATHER!) that I could’ve used a vacation from my vacation! Hoping you can destress in your pool – will you have to close it up soon?
Barbara I struggle with giving up things too, what sometimes helps me is taking a photo. If looking at that photo a few days later brings the same memories as the actual item, I can let the item go. I NEED a visual or physical cue, however, to access so many memories that I’ll never be clutter free.
Totally dig the double rainbows!
Lanette Do get that shower done, but I totally am on board with the ‘remodeling’ stress that could be avoided is a good thing! Not that we have any spare money for anything beyond repair, but I avoid things til necessary at least as much to minimize unnecessary disruption as to be frugal! And thank you as always for your gentle encouragement and support. LOL at 30’s, please have a word with my Wii, will you? It keeps giving me balance tests and aging me into the late 60’s and 70’s. Nowhere to tell it I’m disabled and it’s tests are not quite fair! Lol

My Niece started college last week, we’ve been getting such wonderful pictures of her and her friends – I am so happy she seems to be having a wonderful time. She is in my thoughts a lot lately because she got an Apple Watch before she left for school. I keep getting notified that she is crushing her goals! She texted me that she walks everywhere!
Did I mention that it looks like we will be adopting a kitten? My husband bonded with a rescue cat at my sisters place of work in Chicago. It is very close to settle that my sister will drive down to visit us and bring the sweet kitten to our home. And the funniest part is, I just realized I married a crazy cat lady!
I’ll have to search for my vacation photos to find a picture of the kitten – her name is Mocha Latte.
So I’ll just give you another one of the arty takes on my photos that I’m still experimenting with - Kidd Kirby, naturally.
Rye in WET TX8 -
Rye that need to pick something up and look at it and not let go is used against us when we shop. The sellers know we are much more apt to buy it if we hold it in our hands. Even knowing this I struggle sometimes with shopping and end up with purchases I do not need. I to struggle with letting go of something I already own.

Hubs showed me a cute pair of boots today and asked if I wanted him to order them. I said no, I don’t need them (have I mentioned I am obsessed with boots?). I thought I was at the point of catch and release, but found room for one more short pair.
