Rita--Enjoyed the pictures. We were there last December and was interesting.
Barbie--Sounds like you are getting better everyday, great news. I agree taking it slow is a good way to not over do.
Carol--Looks like grandparents day was good. Memories they will have for years.
Kylia--Sounds like a nice day and lots of steps.
Karen--You and your grandson sound like you are a great team. Sorry to hear about your funance. We had to replace our a couple years ago and decided to get the mid priced on and then found out when we went to do taxes found out it was the one that we couldn't claim. But at least we have a new one. Last year was the hot water heater, but that we could claim.
Machka--Sorry to hear your pain is spreading. I hope the doctor can get things cleared up and that you can find a denist you like. Do you mean this happens regularly? Sure makes getting up in the night fun.
Heather--I understand this waiting is crazy. Sending hugs and prayers things get settled soon and you can get this move behind you.
Janetr--Congrates on the weight loss.
Tracey-Happy Birthday and making a snowman together sounds like fun.
Have a great day and remember we are in this together. Blessings, Vicki GI NE

Tracey ~ Happy Birthday to you and your grandson!
Lanette ~ I was looking up INFP because I didn't know what it was and found this site. I took the personality test and was surprised at the results. https://www.16personalities.com/infp-personality I think you would find it very interesting.
Hoping all who visit here are having a blessed day!

Thank you.
My friend sent me that 16 personalities a while ago. It was eerily accurate for me, her and her daughter.3 -
Trucker, I think I found your Facebook page, last name begins with an A? I googled your place and its only 2 hrs awsy, 106 miles. I suppose that rd a blessing that we are up here in God's grayness, because with the medicines my husband takes for liver transplant anti rejection, he can't go out in the sun anymore. Thanks for the info though. Need to Google how far from where my son lives. Maybe a reunion at your resort could hapoen!

Tracy, happy birthday to you and your grandson! Ewwww on that white stuff that you woke up to! Hoping it doesn't last long.
Machka, oh my, your tooth troubles do not sound like fun, sure hope you can get relief soon!
Allie, woohoo on the showings keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Day 4 of my new eating plan, had a headache for most of that time and yesterday I had absolutely NO energy! I'm guessing thats due to the garbage leaving my system. I'm feeling much better today, no headache!! Still having trouble sleeping, tho not sure why. At first I thought it was the junk food, now I'm kind of at a loss. I only drink one cup of tea after dinner, that's my only caffeine intake. I may have to switch to decaf..... might be worth a try!
Keeping you all in my thoughts, hugs to those who need them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies.

Hi all! Yes, I'm alive. I'm doing brilliantly on the exercise but abysmally on the eating. There's just been too much chaos and unpredictability and eating on my own. I struggle to cook properly when it's "just me" and so far this year, my husband and I have only been in the same place about two thirds of the time. (He travels too much!) But on the bright side, the exercise is working fine. I've done at least 10,000 steps a day for 80 straight days now, and have run 220 miles since July 1.
Right now I'm at the holiday place in northern Norway. When I went out running today I met a neighbor, an old guy who has noticed over the years that I often go running. Whenever he sees me, he does jogging motions with his arms and cheers me on. This summer he's had some health problems; first he had an aneurysm that needed surgery, and then he passed a gallstone that got lodged in his liver. (OUCH!!! ) But he's back in his groove now, diligently taking daily walks as per doctor's orders.
When I ran by today, he and his son were digging in their potato patch. After I'd finished running, I walked back to chat with them and admire their harvest. They were sorting the potatoes by size as they went, and had quite a few little ones less than 2 inches in diameter, which they didn't consider worth storing. Their intention was to toss those over the fence, but they said I was welcome to take as many as I wanted. So I took a pail of them home with me. And I had them for dinner. With butter. I'll own it, though. New potatoes fresh out of the ground... Yum!
Yesterday I went a couple hundred meters up the mountain behind the house to my secret chanterell place. It's a bit late in the year, but nonetheless I found a good pound and a half of chanterelles. Today I picked all the black currants off one of our two bushes. The raspberries have finally ripened and I will pick them tomorrow. They're wild, but grow incredibly big up here in the Arctic -- literally the size of thimbles -- and sweet and aromatic to boot.
I'll end with a picture from when the grandkids were here last month. One gorgeous day we climbed to a stone hut on the mountain to the west of our house. This is the view from up there, about 2000 ft above sea level. The picture shows about half of the village. I'm really proud of the kids for walking all the way up and back without kvetching (much). It's pretty steep!
Greetings to all the oldies and welcome to all the newbies! Stick around and you'll get to know us eventually
/Penny, who actually lives 800 miles from the but who is currently more like 1600 miles from it.

Carol - interesting site! The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has been around since after WWII and was created to help GI's find suitable careers. It's often eerily accurate and has been so for decades - and people generally don't change type as they age, but tend to remain one of the 16 types.
If a person takes the MBTI authorized test, he/she will discover no one is really cut and dried, but tend toward degrees of a certain trait. And under stress the whole shootin' match can be up for grabs, lol. That might be why the INFP I read about this morning was compelled to slam the door shut. Introverts don't do well expending their precious limited energy on folks they consider to be hopeless cases, while Extroverts seem to get energized by the turmoil some folks cause.
There's another fun personality test called the Kiersey Temperament Sorter which breaks people down into four groups instead of 16.
Why humans behave as they do is fascinating!

Barbie: I’m delighted to hear that you are recovering and being wise about your exercise routine. I hope that every day is better than the previous day. :flowerforyou:
Machka: The snake in the toilet would scare at least a decade off of me. How could it get in there? I’m so glad it wasn’t your house!
Janetr: Congratulations on your loss!!!!!!! :flowerforyou:
Lanette: We have talked about joining DSIL when she does her annual “fall trip.” She likes to go to the coast & they are talking about October. The Oregon Coast can be gorgeous in the fall and is much less busy after all the kids go back to school. They’re back in school now so the trip could be done any time. Our RV is in the shop with a parking brake problem today. :grumble: I hope it will be a quick fix. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Snowflake: It looks like you picked out a good name to go by. I can’t imagine snow on the ground this early in the year. BRRRRR. I’m guessing you have plenty of experience and are able to manage despite the early snowfall. :flowerforyou: I took your test, too. It said I’m an architect. I don’t see myself that way. I know an architect and everything it said about that pattern fits him to a "t". It is thought provoking, and makes me wonder whether I have very much in common with him. I hope not. He’s arrogant and of the opinion that he is the village smart person. Thanks for sharing the link.
Penny: I’m happy to see you are posting again. I’ve missed you!
Pip: You and Kirby look wonderful and happy.
We had a call from our daughter today. It looks as though her real estate issues are moving along in a positive way as they await the final closing on the Colorado house sale. I hope and pray it all goes smoothly & as planned

Happy Birthday Tracey. Hope it was a great day.
Michele- I am worried about you and the rains that are coming. Have you made any preparations?
Janetr- I am so proud of you and want you to know you look fabulously.
Been to yoga twice this week and it made me sore because it has been a couple of months since I went. Not sure it is good for my eye but it sure is good for my body and spirit.
Penny- we were in Norway this summer and loved it. One of my granddaughters says she wants to live there when she grows up. She is 11 now.
Barbie- glad you are healing and taking care of yourself. I started knitting a prayer shawl for my daughter’s birthday. Just have a week to finish it so hope I can do it.

Sharon in W VA Hi fellow gamer! I was a hard mode raid healer in SWTOR for several years. It was hilarious actually, because I have a quite young sounding voice and all the fellows on my teams always thought I was about 20, then when I’d mention a husband they assumed mid twenties. They never suspected they were playing with a woman old enough to be their Mother . The game changed and most of us no longer enjoyed playing it - I have not found a replacement game I enjoy as much. I will always treasure that time - it was exhilarating to be part of such a team.
Like you, I start to read a story and 10 linked stories later I find it is an hour later. I love that for when I excercycle- would be bored out of my gourd otherwise! I try not to allow myself to read any news or articles after 9:00pm tho, because it is too easy to realize I read way past bedtime!

Barbie: I thought Bernie was advertising for the Salmon Festival. He's a cutie. Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Machka: Dangerous snake in the toilet = my biggest nightmare. Lordy, don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight.!!!
Janetr: You rook mah-ve-lus dahling So proud of you. I bet the ornaments sell quickly.
Penny: Love your posts and how they transport me to such a unique place in the world. Fresh new potatoes don't fall in your bucket every day. You'll run them off in no time.
So concerned for my friends in Carolinas....prayers going up you all stay safe.
Here we have clear, bright hot weather. I spent the hottest part of the day cooking a whole chicken in the instant pot, deboning it, then putting the bones back in the pot to make bone broth. It's just now finished cooking, so will get started straining. Smells good in here. Will make chicken burrito for DH's dinner. Big salad for me
Stay well friends. We can do this.

PennyThe potato digger sounds like a wonderful old man. I’m glad he has his son nearby to help. And you fortunate person! Chanterelles AND raspberries! I’m glad you share this with grandkids! The picture makes me put on my wishing hat. Is your climate milder due to the Gulf Stream curving your way?
Lanette - I’m ENFP, and probably would have tested the same at 16 as I do at 75. People are beginning to discredit the test, but I think if you read a little further it is truly helpful. I first encountered it in college when trying to figure out why I was underperforming so badly. Going off on tangents didn’t help with most of my second year courses.
Barbie - Bernie is just adorable!
Rye - I think you may be my spirit animal, lol! All the kids in my guild call me “G-Ma”! I think I’ll try to implement your “no links or stories after 9Pm and see if it helps.
Rori - Hiw much water do you cover the bones with to do bone broth? Do seasonings go in it? I’d love to make my own!
Kate Uk - it was Spain! Forgive yourself and enjoy the memories!
I’m still Sharon in WA3 -
Thx katla, that was an old pic from 3 years ago at the MS Ride3

I know that KarenNY frequently makes bone broth, so she may have other suggestions.

Hello again! Do nice to be here; thanks for the welcome!
Today I recalculated my macros. Monitoring them is the most helpful too I’ve learned from MFP.
Here are my calculations:
Basil Metabolic Rate (BMR): 996.5
Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE): 1195.8
Daily calories deficit: 10-25% of TDEE—I’m not doing this right now because I need to get my activity level up first. I set daily calories at 1200 for now. Lee’s than this is neither healthy or sustainable for me.
This week I’ve set these macro goals. I’ll give them a week and see what results I get.
Protein 25%
Fat 35%
Carbs 40%3 -
Oh, PS — my name is Judi and I live outside of Baltimore, MD.2

Judi Welcome!
Lanette One of the beauties of home schooling is that home-schooled kids don't have to wait while other students finish their work. My grandson is intellectually capable of learning complex material, and he learns pretty quickly, despite some processing issues. He has significant difficulty staying on task, not rushing through, and avoiding careless mistakes, though. The only class he is really interested in is Civics. But we are already working a week ahead in a couple of classes, so if he needs or wants a day off for any reason, we will have a buffer. Tomorrow the brick & mortar schools are closing for weather, but that won't affect us. I love it. I am so excited it is working out. Grandson was back to his baseline fidget status today.
I am an INFP. My grandson hasn't taken the test, but I'm pretty sure he is an INTP. It would be fun to see how he tests out.
Penny I love your posts. Your words paint pictures.
Tracey Happy Birthday to you & your grandson!
Machka Snake in the toilet. No. Just No.
Janetr You go, Girl! You look smashing.
Heather You're coping. (((Hugs)))

Killing time in library between chiro and line dancing, thought I’d try to catch up.
Sharon in WA It IS hard to get to the S. Oregon Coast, mixed blessing, uncrowded but a long way from Trader Joe’s
Lanette 15 mins to T’ai Chi, 20 to Line Dancing, but then I’m a slow poke. It takes 5 minutes to get from our house out the lane to the paved street and down it to the highway. From there its only 5 miles to the 35 mph speed limit at town border. Not something I could walk (much less run) due the elevation dips and gains, we’re in the hills above the sea.
Tracy/Snowflake “calling for snow” already? :noway:
Margaret glad you took care of yourself, wish the woman next to you had the good sense to STAY HOME!
Elizabeth weekend meal prep is a plan to succeed. Well done!
Evelyn would sleep socks help?
NYKaren what a gift of listening you gave your friend. Know how hard that can be.
Rebecca LOVED the “diet wagon” meme.
Janetr had similar thought about the brooch… perhaps Rebecca could pin it in her hair?
Lisa pull up your big girl panties and ask airline for the doggoned scooter. Spare your knee for what you MUST use it for. End of finger shaking lecture. ;}
Vickie Con VERY grats on 4 pop-free days. You’re right, that was a LOT of pop!
Barbie so glad to hear you’re able to drive and walk dogs a bit without endangering the healing of your back. Hope Jake’s eye appointment went well.
Rita Lanette beat me to the punch about your hubby pics.
Sharon “… I hate cancer…” ditto, but my friend taught me to say “I hate that %@$&ing cancer”. String of pearls for the well-dressed nudist, LOL!
Karen in VA that LENS treatment seems to have some pretty rough side effects. What a blessing he has GrammaSchool.
Jazzypdx con VERY grats on the 5K and NSV jeans and tops!
Welcome Wendy. Would you let us know your general location, to help us keep you straight in our minds? Are there any chair exercises your Dr. can recommend? Moving, even a little, will help.
Time to scoot off to line dancing.
Lighter, lovelies!

total cal burned 625. working ot today, tomorrow and all next week, will b going in 1 hr earlier.6 -
Barbara S Oregon, I tried putting on socks and a tee shirt, but I think it was too little too late. Fortunately that doesn't happen too often anymore. There was a time when I went to bed with a hot water bottle every night!
Penny, oh my, such scenery!! Mmmmmm for the raspberries and new potatoes!
Karen in VA, so happy for you and your grandson. After reading about his b***h of a teacher last year..... Must be such a huge relief for everyone concerned that he is now having a positive learning experience.
Day four is done, feeling much better than yesterday, more energy, still tired, hoping for a decent night's sleep tonight! Lunch and snacks all ready for work tomorrow, just need to get my stuff ready for the gym. Hopefully I will get my rear out the door early enough to get in a good workout!
That's it for me for tonite, hugs for those who need them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

I bought three new pairs of jeans online today. I found out that the last time I bought any was in 2015 so I guess I'm due. I rarely buy clothes and love wearing the same things over and over. I never have to think about what to wear and it frees my mind for more important things. When the new pants arrives, I'll throw away the three oldest and shabbiest ones.
The podcasts I listen to are "Spilled Milk", "Happier with Gretchen Rubin", "10% Happier with Dan Harris". "The Sporkful", and "And Eat it Too". I rotate among them. When I walked for hours, I listened while I walked. Now I listen while I lie in bed and knit.
Tracey, Happy Birthday.
Barbie from beautiful NW Washington6 -
Did an Advanced Strength DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to go to the water aerobics class. Then going to the Salvation Army to make a donation.
I’m supposed to volunteer at the Green Room then I need to stop at Food Lion since Vince is almost out of milk. Guess they’ll have some. If not….oh well. Then he wants to bring in the things from around the pool (umbrellas, ceramics, chairs, etc). They’re supposed to have this stitching at ACMoore tonight, I’ll go if there’s time. The more important thing is to get things inside. Update: Got the milk, they had quite a bit. By the time we took the dog to animal control (see below), had dinner, it was almost 7 and the stitching was from 6 to 8.
Before I go to the Green Room I need to stop at the soup kitchen and then go see Lynette. Update: They were doing something to the road so it was closed. I had to circle waaaaayyyyy around to get to the soup kitchen. I met a woman who used to be in the water aerobics class.
Janetr – I’m sure more than SOME of your ornaments will sell. They are all so beautiful. Congrats on the wonderful loss
For some reason, I couldn’t sleep last night so I went into Shadow’s room. I took my phone with me just in case I fell asleep. It’s a good thing because I did fall asleep. For some reason the alarm went off at 5 so I just went into our bed and slept some more
Allie – glad to hear things are moving with the house
M – (((HUG))). If I EVER saw that in my toilet bowl, I honestly don’t know what I’d do after I screamed bloody murder
Judy – welcome. This is a great place for support
Brought in everything from outside by the pool, put my ceramics up. Vince had to buy two new shelves to accommodate my newer ceramics. Don’t know what we’ll do next year. He’ll think of something, I’m sure. This dog came by and stayed in our backyard. He had a collar on him with his owner’s name and phone number. We called a few times – went to voice mail each time. Vince texted him – no answer. We finally had to take the dog to animal control because we aren’t able to take care of a dog. And with the hurricane, we didn’t want to leave him outside. He was a very good dog. He must have been older, I think maybe he had arthritis in his legs because he didn’t want to walk up the steps from the backyard, I had to carry him. Also, he didn’t want to jump into the car, I had to pick him up. I feel bad that we took him to animal control, but I know that he’s safe. I do hope the owner claims him. Every kitten Vince saw he wanted to take home. When we were in St. Kitts there were some cats that came around the hotel, so he had to go to the store and buy cat food to feed them!
Sharon – Loki doesn’t seem to be in any sort of pain. He just seems to get something in him.
It’s really nice (but humid) weather here so I did a load of laundry and ran the dishwasher. Not that it really needed to be run, but by the time it’d get full, I’m afraid we’re going to get the rain. So I wanted to do it so hopefully the ground won’t get real saturated.
Tracy in Edmonton – happy birthday. A snowman sounds really special
Penny – today they were talking about your town on the radio. I couldn’t help thinking of you. Is it really true that people walk around wearing a shotgun because of all the bears? Is it true that when you go to a store or someplace, they have a locker for you to put your gun in? But they did talk about how beautiful your city was. They talked about how ships go there and I thought of Heather.
SuebDew – we are very far inland. They are calling for some rain but spread out over a few days, so it won’t be that bad. The last time this area had a hurricane was Hurricane Hugo – 30 years ago. Vince wanted to have the generator accessible. I honestly don’t think we’re going to need it, but it makes him happy to have it so I helped get it out. If we do need it, the heck with a/c – hope to be able to have Internet The only preparation I’ve made is I bought some spaghetti squash and butternut squash to roast. Oh, and today we brought in the furniture, ceramics, etc. from the outside. Vince used bungee cords around some of the chairs.
Kate UK – welcome back!
