Mostly just people who will talk for 20mins, do 1 set, talk another 20mins, pull out cell phone/play video, etc.
Seated calf raise machine esp. & leg equipment in general seem to take the most abuse from people relaxing on, marking territory, laying stuff on0 -
People who don’t re-rack their weights and just leave them all over the place. Pisses me off.1

with those folks, I usually just ask to work in.
they at least have to stop staring at their phone to answer me.
sometimes I don't even want to do a set, I just want to free up the space for others.3 -

We have a UNISEX shower facility at work (single shower, simple towel rack and a sink) and there is a dude that would do that daily. He eventually had a mountain of sweaty laundry on the floor. What is wrong with people?
Kick his stuff off the bench.0 -
I don't belong to a gym. Here's 27 reasons why. 😁3

Kick his stuff out the locker. If someone asks, just say the janitor put it there lol1 -
I really hate it when people drive on the roads I need to cross. I mean, really, I'm running here!

When I go to touch a machine and it’s covered in sweat.
Another one is when all I can hear are people dropping weights. Why can you just place them on the floor? Why do you have to drop them?1 -
Oh when ladies treat the locker room like a meeting spot & there is a group of 10 women just sitting there on the benches on their phones & chatting away with each other leaning back on the lockers so people have to maneuver around them to get their stuff.1

Because only the coolest guys drop their weights lol! Funny how Women never have issues just placing them down normally. At least at my gym.2 -

I agree with all other posts about gym etiquette but I do have a very specific thing that annoyed me that happened years ago at a gym in another city I don't even live in anymore.
I used to teach step aerobics, and the gym had some floor matts, the thick foam kind, almost styrofoam texture that can't be rolled up. They were NOT yoga mats. The aerobics teachers typically had students to use them at the end of class for an work. They were also cleaned after use in class.
We also had a yoga class on the regular (no extra fees on top of regular gym fees) schedule. That particular gym DID NOT provide yoga mats.
The yoga instructor actually complained to gym management that the other instructors were allowing people to use those mats as well and that her students did not want us to do that because we wear shoes on the mats that some of the yoga participants used...
Really? 1)Those mats weren't even yoga mats so if you want to come to yoga buy a proper yoga mat or deal with the fact that you aren't the only one allowed to use the mats 2)Step, kickboxing, boot camp students etc pay the same gym fee as the yoga students, so they should have equal access to the equipment. If it had been a separate program with extra fees, then restricting equipment to just that class would not have been uncalled for, but that wasn't the case.
Not knocking yoga because I do it all the time but with mats that I bought myself, and I certainly wouldn't expect to have general gym equipment use taken away from someone else to keep me from having to buy my own mat. It's the entitlement that I found annoying.0 -

Lol. I suppose so.
As far as specialty markets, I find Goat Yoga to be a lot more fun than "Passive Agressive"

Have any of you ever used a machine and have someone straight away ask, how many. Sets left? So many experts in the gym come running to tell you how to do the exercise? Stalking people stand in front of you and stare?
So many machines /bench have dripping sweat all over and no one wipes after use. Anyone else had those issues?
Yes!! I relate to that with the questions and feeling rushed. Or they wait with their arms crossed and stand in front of you. Entitled mothas. Good news though I pretty much made my own gym at home. Bought an elliptical, treadmill and dumbbells so far.

I know, standing with their arms crossed. Lol i tried ignoring but some have the nerve to tap on my shoulders with their sweaty hands. No one should touch anyone in any kind of way.1 -
Oh I have loads - its how I entertain myself whilst working out!
- sitting on bench/machine and playing with mobile phone
- sitting on bench/machine and chatting
- dropping weights from a great height
- leaving stuff on a bench while they go off and use other machines/whatever2 -
people doing supersets and hogging several pieces of equipment at the same time. People who hog the squat rack for an excessive amount of time (like I've literally been at the gym for 40+ minutes and the same person was using the squat rack the entire time.) Have some common courtesy. You don't need a squat rack to do bicep curls JFC.1

See now that could be me, but the rack I use is also suitable to be set up for benching. Both my squat and bench workout take longer than half an hour and at one point I only had 2 days a week where I could hit the gym, so would spend upwards of an hour using the rack.
Funnily enough no one ever complained, and I never complained if someone else was using the rack. I either found someone to spot me on the bench, or asked to work in or found something else to do. Mind I have my regular times that I'm in the gym, it's a local place in a village/small town and everyone knew is be in there at that time.0 -
When gym people judge non-gym people, or less in shape people.
I've had people say things to me like "we're better than them." The look on my face made them start backtracking immediately.
Another tried to hit on me by saying "you make the skinner women feel like [fecal matter] because they can't do what you're doing." You putting down someone else is not going to make me like you more. I didn't come here to make anyone feel like anything. I came here to do my best. And reminding me I'm not as thin as many of the women that come there isn't winning you any points either.
Trying to fat shame fat people at the gym. One guy was like, I don't understand those weight loss commercials. Why did they let themselves get to that point in the first place?! I had to tell him how I had gotten big. "Oh, you've lost a lot of weight?!" Yes, I have, dude, yes I have. THEY ARE AT THE GYM. WHAT ELSE DID YOU WANT THEM TO DO?? And why did you choose the machine next to me to have this conversation when you could have chosen the entire line of empty machines anyway?

I also noticed a trend: the muscular dudes are very attracted to or impressed by me when they see me lift. The not yet muscular hopeful newbie dudes are inspired. But the older, non-muscular dudes are annoyed as all get out, and start with the passive aggressive comments:
Had a big weight on the bench. Was resting between sets. Some dude comes over and says, "are you using this?" "Yes." "But are you using the bar?" "Yes." "You gonna lift that?" "Yes." He rolls his eyes and leaves. I finish my rest and head for my spotter (towel on the rack, was gone all of 15 seconds). My spotter and I get to the bench, and he's already removing weights from the bar. I told him, "I'm still using that. I just went to get my spotter." So me and the spotter rerack the weights. Someone else takes a pic of me lifting. Later, I saw the pic, and saw the man in the background watching me lift, giving the most hilarious lemon face you ever did see. He stood around to see if I could lift it, because he probably figured if he couldn't do it, then how could I?
Another time, I was wrapping up my bench and two older men were on the bench next to me lifting less than half of what I was lifting. When I got up and finished, I overheard them say, "if she even is a woman." One of the muscular dudes jumped up and loudly defended me saying, "some people don't know how long someone has been working on at this and what is possible!" I was cool about it, because I'm very feminine looking, so I knew they knew I was a woman, and they were just trying to calm their hurt egos.

Piggybacking on all this....i see it here a lot unfortunately as well as in the gym. People that have made substantial progress turn into meatheads. Forgetting where they once were, they act just like the people they didnt like. I look at these freshly fit people and think to myself, keep it up d nozzle, 75% of ya go back to what you used to be in just a few years. I hope the second go at it they are humbled......8 -

@bulletwithbutterflywings Who am I talking to? What are we talking about? Whose baby is it? How many inch heel? Are they open toe? Where am I going? How steep is the hill? I have so many questions.3
