I’m back in and a little late to this round! Been a rough few months and have gained back what I had lost. Had surgery and have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Knowing how the thyroid effects metabolism, I realize I’m in for an uphill battle. I love this challenge and appreciate the support and accountability that it offers!

@ssssanaaaa Definitely purchase an accurate scale. I like to read as many reviews as possible before buying. I've even brought a heavy item that I can test the accuracy with, lol. (a 20 lb dumbbell)
Yes, the number on your scale may or may not be accurate, the important thing is that you are showing a downward trend which is awesome. :bigsmile:

I agree this is so smart. I have always wondered how good my scale was...mind u last week I went to a friends house and there was no change in weight so I'm pretty sure my scale is fine..but this is a Great idea for those days I'm questioning accuracy. Don't know why I have never thought of that before.2 -

9/15--157.8 staying steady at this weight. This is definitely a lot later than I usually post but I did weigh myself this morning just wasn't able to post till now (even if in a short amount of time I will have to re weigh in) good day yesterday. 90 min of work out, ate fairly well and got 1.6 liters of water in. Here is to a great start!!!
9/16-- 157 once again late post but once again I weighed in this morning. Was super excited to see this but I know it's only for the day. Yesterday I worked out like crazy but unfortunately didn't eat or sleep much, (about 4 hours) only having a little over a liter of water. Today I ate well but it was my last day house/dog sitting and when my friends came home they took us out for pizza. I haven't had pizza for a long time and apparently I was super hungry because I ate 3 slices 😣😣😣 I have never ate so much in my life, so this will definitely show on the scale in the morning. I haven't sabotaged myself in a while....but here we are again.
9/17-- 158.6 and here it is... that dreaded pizza. It's ok though, I am being patient, i know I can take it off and keep it off. It's a new day!!!
9/18 158.6 although I was a little upset by this I have managed to think up a couple of reasons why I am still here. 1. I haven't been getting enough sleep the past couple of days. 2. I need to up my hydration. 3. Breakfast, always seem to do better the days I eat early. 4. Sodium was a little high yesterday and 5. That dreaded pizza still has a hold. I exercised yesterday (a 10 mile bike ride and workout with my mom) even though it was supposed to be my rest day i am secretly happy about the bike ride. I have a stationary bike but I forgot how amazing it is to ride the real thing, might make it a thing before winter hits. Drank 1 liter of water and stayed under my calories..but like I said it was a higher sodium day then usual. Back at it again today!!
9/19 158.4 slow and steady is my pace lol Yesterday was dinner at the in laws and omg the amount of food I ate. Holy cow!! Was worse then pizza night. I was so hungry, don't remember the last time I ate so much. On the bright side, although I ate a crazy amount of calories, fat, sodium etc. When I got home I decided the negative number in my daily was not acceptable so I went for a bike ride and did some exercising. I managed to squeak a +3 calorie wise, and drop a significant amount grams from my carbs and fat. I will take it!!! This week I have already had 2 cheat meals, which is way above my usual but my NSV is I still exercised both times. I hope to continue this effort of exercising on cheat meal days or sticking to my goals on exercise rest days😁😁 As for the rest of the week, I have no more plans that might sabotage me so I all ready to re-re- work lol
9/20 157.6 finally a whoooosh. To bad this is almost a duplicate of last round. Hoping to get extra exercise in and seeing some sort of a bigger loss for the round *fingers crossed* I ate well and exercised good yesterday along with 1.2 liters of water. Hope everyone has a great day.
9/21 156.6 Whhooooooosh!!!! Ahhh I am so excited. I did work out hard yesterday so I am slightly not surprised but I am still very happy. I have a digital scale and when I originally jumped on it said 156.0 but I shook my head and thought "this can't be right" after jumping on another three times 156.6 showed up three times so I took that number rather then the lower one, so I wouldn't jinx it lol only three more days to hit my target weight 🤞🤞🤞 I find myself getting so emotional everytime I loose a pound in the 50s, why? I have no clue. I feel like I really have undid all the damage that I inflicted on myself 6 months before deciding to join this group and start my MFP journey again. I use to always get discouraged but now I honestly feel like I can do it, that I am only going to go down from here...no interruptions or towel throwing lol. Have I said thank you to you all recently? Well thanks to all of you, especially @GrandmaJackie if it wasn't for this group...I don't think anything would have changed for me 😭😭 thank you!!
9/22 156.6 still here. Last night i was crunched for time when it came to dinner so I had a can of soup, which means high sodium day. I feel bloated today so I am not surprised with staying the same but I am surprised I didn't gain. I didn't feel like working out but I pushed myself to at least do an half hour which turned into an hour on top of the exercise I do regularly with my mom. My water was 1.2. I can't believe we only have 2 days left!! It's cold today but hopefully it will warm up enough for my mom and I to go on a bike ride, she is slowly becoming more active and I'm impressed that she hasn't been giving me any grief about working out,.... yet. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!! 😁😁
9/23 156.6 yesterday was awful to say the least. It started out great but for some reason as the afternoon came around my hunger spiked and I found myself eating almost non stop. All my calories yesterday was in junk food 😣😣😣 not to mention I had a veg and movie day with my mom....so almost no Exercise (besides a dance routine with my mom) took place. I felt terrible all day because of it. I'm surprised it didn't reflect in my weight though..so weird how my body works sometimes. Work out and eat healthy can sometimes result in a gain while eating crappy SOME HOW results in a stay the same...go figure. Today was way different though, biked 10 miles and almost did a full 5 minute wall sit. Ate well and stayed within calories. I don't know if i can expect a big drop by tomorrow to hit my 155 but who knows. Planning another work out with my mom before bed so maybe that will help. This round, although still resulting in a loss has not been my best food choice wise, hoping this changes for the next 10 day round 🤞🤞

My goal is to stay under my calorie goal, 1200, and to lose 3 pounds in this round. In all, I want to drop 55. I'm 5'6" and 185 lbs, so my goal is about 135. I'm trying to set small, realistic goals so that I can motivate myself with my successes.
In this round, I'm focusing on drinking about a gallon of water a day. I find that I eat more towards the end of the day when I'm tired, so I'm allowing myself NO after dinner snacks.
I'm a newbie here so sorry if I make any "new kid" mistakes. Thanks for the support and accountability, guys!
9/15 - I went only 35 calories over my goal, which is 1200 calories a day. I drank a gallon of water, too, which is good. Was out doing yard work in the sun all day so hopefully with the sweating and extra water intake, hopefully I'll lose some water weight!
9/16 - Forgot to weight myself today . But I was 159 calories under my calorie goal, even though we had a potluck at my church and they had my favorite mouth-watering donuts for dessert. I made it, tho!
9/17 - 186. I hate the scale. Doesn’t make sense that I would have gained a pound, so I’m attributing it to water weight fluctuation and trying not to get to discouraged. 1,068 calories. 1 gallon of water.
9/18 - 185. So, I ate nothing but coffee and lunch meat all day cause my stomach felt upset, but late at night I was out and was STARVING, so I went to steak and shake, and, ahem. Ate about 1400 calories in one sitting. So I had a total of about 2200 calories. Oh, well.
9/19 - Ha. Weighed myself this morning and was 184, even though I binged last night. Funny how your body works! Drank 1 gallon of water and ate 1,035 calories. Feeling pretty good.
9/20 - Still 184. I guess at least I’m not gaining. Went 100 calories over my goal and only had 72 oz of water, but all in all I feel it’s been a good day. Starting Keto diet tomorrow so I’m hoping that will speed things up.
9/21 - Ugh. 184 again. Went only 35 calories over and stayed at 15 grams of carbs.
9/22 - 183! Maybe I won’t make it to 182 by the end of the round, but at least I will have lost something. Keto is going well, I had 17 grams of carbs and ate lots of protein and fat. 1,040 calories. 72 oz of water.
9/23 - 182!!! Hope this is real weight loss and I can keep it up. Ate 1,054 calories, but had 20 grams of carbs (didn’t realize how many vegetables have so many carbs in them!) 48 oz of water.

9/18- 197.8. Wow! I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that number this morning. I don't want to get my hopes up yet though just in case... Under calories. 30 min walk, 30 min strength training. 64 oz water.
9/19- 197.8. Over by 80 calories. Long work day and no exercise. 64 oz of water.
9/20- 199.2. Under calories. 40 minutes bicycle. 64 oz of water.

9/22- 198.6. Under calories. Lots of walking today while out and about. 34 oz of water. I noticed today it's getting a lot easier to stay under my calorie goal and I'm not snacking as much throughout the day like I use too.
9/23- 198.6. Over by 70 calories. 45 minutes walking. 34 oz of water. Lots of anxiety today, just wouldn't go away no matter what I did. I'm trying to prep for the week and I'm feeling overwhelmed. Will try to go to bed on time tonight, maybe that will help.

15/09 Busy work week, kept pretty well to my meal planner.
16/09 Had a couple of nice walks in Dingle, County Kerry yesterday, had a couple of beers and some homemade curry. Trendweight chart is on a downward turn again
17/09 Had a pretty lazy day to end post-race recovery week yesterday, little walk to keep active, scale is being nice at the moment, all my race/shark week water weight is off and then some. Today's goals are to get my meal prep done for the week, making some pan fried chicken and quinoa salad for lunches and salmon fishcakes for a couple of dinners. Looking forward to tonight's leftover Saag Paneer this evening, it's relatively low calorie but very tasty
18/09 Quite heavy on the carbs/calories yesterday but still under maintenance, naturally there is a bit of a scale rise with the volume in food, also didn't get much fibre in on Sunday. Had a lovely row before work today 6km with a bit of sun before the rain started for the day. Goal for today is to get my steps in, as drove to/from work yesterday due to weather and this morning and cut my streak short booo!
19/09 Food was a bit all over the place yesterday, but again under maintenance, got a bit of walking in and got over my step goal so the streak starts again, blustery walk into work this morning, definitely blew the cobwebs away Goals for today - prelog next couple of days food, focus on protein & fibre and step goal
20/09 Pre-logged for next couple of days as planned, went out for dinner last night so bit of a sodium spike this morning expect it will disappear by the weekend. Protein intake vastly improved this week so far. Aim for today get a bit more hydrated and remember to take my vitamins, definitely feeling the change of season with the grey days and earlier nights. Going to try and get a strength training session in on my lunch hour today
21/09 Was a little out of control with my snacking yesterday, also didn't do my strenth training, doing an extra rowing session to assist my club with the city's Culture Night so at least that will make up for a bit. Having a goal-free day today, just because
24/09 Craving a lot of sugary stuff over the weekend, this usually means I am about to get hit with my winter cold like a freight train, it has done my scale weight no favours, but it's mostly water (Trend weight from start of round is down 0.4lbs though), just going to keep plodding on. Today's goal remember vitamins and get plenty of fluid.8 -

9/15 - no weigh in. I forgot about it this morning until I had already eaten. Plan is to not eat after 5pm, try to get a good sleep tonight and than back to better eating (@ calorie goal) and exercise tomorrow.
9/16 - 255.6...a lot of bad food for a lot of days. Plan for today is to fast (which will be hard because I've woken up hungry), reset and get to the gym tonight.

9/18 - 256.6...yesterday was ok, not the best food choices but stayed under calories (with eating my exercise back), 80 mins of walking, 100 oz of water. TOM showed up this morning.
9/19 - 254.3...under calories by a few, 30 min walk and 76 oz water.
9/20 - 253.4...under calories, 60 mins of walking and 125 oz of water. I didn't have the greatest day yesterday and I really wanted to eat my emotions but managed to keep to plan instead...happy with that!
9/21 - 253.4...over calories, no exercise and only 50 oz of water. I was going to exercise after my son went to sleep but he wasn't feeling well so I ended up having to go to bed with him at 8pm. Went out for lunch and had nachos. The portion was so large I had to take it home and have it for supper as well..plus some ended up in the garbage. It put me way over on my calories though. Today will be better.
9/22 - 252.4...under calories, 70 mins of walking and 91 oz of water. Started to feel a little under the weather yesterday evening and today I woke up with a full blown cold. I'm going to try to stay within calories but with probably no exercise that will be hard.
9/23 - 251.2...was over calories but under maintenance. No exercise, barely moved out of bed. Still sick this morning so we'll see what happens.
9/24 - 250.0...under calories by 1, no exercise (still sick and resting) and 50oz of water. Down 3.5lbs this round! Don't know if it's a real loss or just from being sick though.

9/15 - 153 - Holding steady, sigh...It may go up tomorrow after the salt I had for dinner tonight.
9/16 - 153 - At least it didn't go up.
9/17 - 153.5 - There's the salt, or the fact that I keep moving my scale due to our bathroom remodel. I double checked my gross calories consumed for the past week and I haven't gone over 1400 calories, in fact I'm usually at 1100 to 1200 a day. I'll just keep riding this out.
9/18 - 152.5 - I'm glad to see this number today. I'm hoping this is the highest number I see for the rest of the week.
9/19 - 152.5 - I picked up some cotton candy grapes from Whole Foods on Sunday and they have been my addiction this week. I know they're higher in sugar and calories than regular grapes, but I've been able to forego my usual little piece of candy after dinner for a half cup of grapes.
9/20 - 152 - I saw this number last round, I hope it sticks around this time.

9/22 - 152 - I had a turkey taco last night which I'm sure had plenty of sodium, so I'm still good with this weight. We had an injured young deer laying down in our backyard last night. We live in the city limits of Akron, Ohio, but there are so many major metroparks in our area, we have all kinds of wildlife wandering through our yard. It couldn't put any weight on it's hind leg, so we set some water out for it and I tried to contact wildlife rescuers. The little guy/girl was gone when we got up this morning.
9/23 - 153 - To celebrate the Autumn weather, we made brats and kraut for dinner last night. I ate within my loss calories, but I need to drink extra water today.

09/16 177.6 That's fine I expected a bounce, and I was thirsty all day yesterday so that big drop may have been partly dehydration. A workout and 2 walks yesterday - so it was a good day.

09/20 180.8 hopefully just a delayed reaction from Monday and Tuesday. I ate under my calories and my activity level was over my minimum target. (i.e. 8800/7500 steps - started with a workout today and will go for a walk at lunch, so hope to see a drop tomorrow.

09/22 178.2 was expecting a bounce so this is great, lots of walking yesterday over 18k steps and began with a workout today. Trying to muster the courage to start the treadmill C25K to take the place of walking as the weather gets colder. I've never in my life been able to run more than a minute.

09/24 177.8 Lots of struggles this round, but ending with a small loss all the same down 0.6 Did my first C25K yesterday. I have decided to think of it in levels rather than weeks and will move up the levels depending on how I do. Also did a 5 mile walk with my son yesterday. It was a perfect clear and cool fall day. This round I begin a dietitian-designed 6-8 week anti-inflammation elimination diet (a bit tighter than what I've been doing the past month) with hopes of getting past these aches & pains without taking drugs. I'm feeling hopeful!

Yeah, baby! Now to stay here (or a little lower)! I intend to slowly add calories to maintenance level - slowly to figure out what that actually is. Wow - I've been on the loser track for so long (3.75 years) that arriving doesn't feel real!

I don't feel particularly deprived so far on this elimination diet, but I do struggle to get enough calories (never thought I'd say that 3 years ago!!!!). I need to work on that - running much too low. But all the veggies really fill me up!

So far, so good. I'm still finding it a challenge to get enough calories on this elimination diet, but I need to make an effort to increase slowly. Too low is too low. Otherwise, it's fine, and nice to be at goal. This has been a 3.75-year journey, so keep the faith!!!

Since I'm losing on this elimination diet (yes to lots of veggies, moderate fruits, fish, gluten-free oatmeal, nuts, seeds...!), I've decided to just go with it. My real ultimate goal has long been ~130, but I stagnated in the low 150s for so long I decided to just aim for 140. But I'm losing steadily on this scheme, so... No goal, just eating and tracking and definitely not gaining.

I woke up hurting all over and seriously thinking of caving in and taking the @&!!# prednisone. I'm off to look up ways, if any, to minimize side effects. It's a short course, but still.... Other than that, I feel great on this limited diet - can't say I really miss anything in particular (except maybe Dave's Killer Bread - Good Seed!).

Maybe this elimination diet is kicking in re. food sensitivities causing my pain/inflammation - this morning, without any pain meds, I feel much better. So I'm delaying the pred another day or two to see what happens. I went for a lovely walk last evening - not up to my usual 60-90 min yet, but I'm hopeful that I will be up to some nice fall hikes.

Why didn't I try an elimination diet sooner? Can't believe I'm losing like this. I'd reset my goal but don't want to jinx it. I did start the prednisone yesterday, and I feel like a new woman this morning. I'm paying very close attention to my sodium and calcium intake and eating lots of potassium and magnesium rich foods to hopefully fend off some common side effects. I'd tickled pink to feel like doing fall things - hikes, walks, gardening....!

This was by best round ever, with a loss of 3.4 pounds. I give all credit to the elimination diet I'm on (started it in full a week ago today). Despite the foods I'm avoiding for the next 5 weeks, I do not feel deprived - I'm eating lots of veggies - LOTS - plus fish, heathy non-grain fats, fruits, moderate nuts (no peanuts), and I'm definitely satisfied. I had been perfectly happy to stop at 140, but since I'm losing, I'm now hoping to hit my original goal range of 130-135. I'm in the midst of another clothing purge - I put on a favorite jacket yesterday and DH said "That coat looks really baggy." Ha! So the donation bag expands.... See you ar R54!

9/15--157.8 staying steady at this weight. This is definitely a lot later than I usually post but I did weigh myself this morning just wasn't able to post till now (even if in a short amount of time I will have to re weigh in) good day yesterday. 90 min of work out, ate fairly well and got 1.6 liters of water in. Here is to a great start!!!
9/16-- 157 once again late post but once again I weighed in this morning. Was super excited to see this but I know it's only for the day. Yesterday I worked out like crazy but unfortunately didn't eat or sleep much, (about 4 hours) only having a little over a liter of water. Today I ate well but it was my last day house/dog sitting and when my friends came home they took us out for pizza. I haven't had pizza for a long time and apparently I was super hungry because I ate 3 slices 😣😣😣 I have never ate so much in my life, so this will definitely show on the scale in the morning. I haven't sabotaged myself in a while....but here we are again.
9/17-- 158.6 and here it is... that dreaded pizza. It's ok though, I am being patient, i know I can take it off and keep it off. It's a new day!!!
9/18 158.6 although I was a little upset by this I have managed to think up a couple of reasons why I am still here. 1. I haven't been getting enough sleep the past couple of days. 2. I need to up my hydration. 3. Breakfast, always seem to do better the days I eat early. 4. Sodium was a little high yesterday and 5. That dreaded pizza still has a hold. I exercised yesterday (a 10 mile bike ride and workout with my mom) even though it was supposed to be my rest day i am secretly happy about the bike ride. I have a stationary bike but I forgot how amazing it is to ride the real thing, might make it a thing before winter hits. Drank 1 liter of water and stayed under my calories..but like I said it was a higher sodium day then usual. Back at it again today!!
9/19 158.4 slow and steady is my pace lol Yesterday was dinner at the in laws and omg the amount of food I ate. Holy cow!! Was worse then pizza night. I was so hungry, don't remember the last time I ate so much. On the bright side, although I ate a crazy amount of calories, fat, sodium etc. When I got home I decided the negative number in my daily was not acceptable so I went for a bike ride and did some exercising. I managed to squeak a +3 calorie wise, and drop a significant amount grams from my carbs and fat. I will take it!!! This week I have already had 2 cheat meals, which is way above my usual but my NSV is I still exercised both times. I hope to continue this effort of exercising on cheat meal days or sticking to my goals on exercise rest days😁😁 As for the rest of the week, I have no more plans that might sabotage me so I all ready to re-re- work lol
9/20 157.6 finally a whoooosh. To bad this is almost a duplicate of last round. Hoping to get extra exercise in and seeing some sort of a bigger loss for the round *fingers crossed* I ate well and exercised good yesterday along with 1.2 liters of water. Hope everyone has a great day.
9/21 156.6 Whhooooooosh!!!! Ahhh I am so excited. I did work out hard yesterday so I am slightly not surprised but I am still very happy. I have a digital scale and when I originally jumped on it said 156.0 but I shook my head and thought "this can't be right" after jumping on another three times 156.6 showed up three times so I took that number rather then the lower one, so I wouldn't jinx it lol only three more days to hit my target weight 🤞🤞🤞 I find myself getting so emotional everytime I loose a pound in the 50s, why? I have no clue. I feel like I really have undid all the damage that I inflicted on myself 6 months before deciding to join this group and start my MFP journey again. I use to always get discouraged but now I honestly feel like I can do it, that I am only going to go down from here...no interruptions or towel throwing lol. Have I said thank you to you all recently? Well thanks to all of you, especially @GrandmaJackie if it wasn't for this group...I don't think anything would have changed for me 😭😭 thank you!!
9/22 156.6 still here. Last night i was crunched for time when it came to dinner so I had a can of soup, which means high sodium day. I feel bloated today so I am not surprised with staying the same but I am surprised I didn't gain. I didn't feel like working out but I pushed myself to at least do an half hour which turned into an hour on top of the exercise I do regularly with my mom. My water was 1.2. I can't believe we only have 2 days left!! It's cold today but hopefully it will warm up enough for my mom and I to go on a bike ride, she is slowly becoming more active and I'm impressed that she hasn't been giving me any grief about working out,.... yet. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!! 😁😁
9/23 156.6 yesterday was awful to say the least. It started out great but for some reason as the afternoon came around my hunger spiked and I found myself eating almost non stop. All my calories yesterday was in junk food 😣😣😣 not to mention I had a veg and movie day with my mom....so almost no Exercise (besides a dance routine with my mom) took place. I felt terrible all day because of it. I'm surprised it didn't reflect in my weight though..so weird how my body works sometimes. Work out and eat healthy can sometimes result in a gain while eating crappy SOME HOW results in a stay the same...go figure. Today was way different though, biked 10 miles and almost did a full 5 minute wall sit. Ate well and stayed within calories. I don't know if i can expect a big drop by tomorrow to hit my 155 but who knows. Planning another work out with my mom before bed so maybe that will help. This round, although still resulting in a loss has not been my best food choice wise, hoping this changes for the next 10 day round 🤞🤞
9/24 156.2 so close. I guess I will have to save that 155 goal for next round. Lol if only one of my days had been better then I wouldn't of had to worry about this lol ahhh well it was still a loss for the round. See you all R549
