Joined a gym and got measured yesterday as part of their fitness analysis. My whole adult life, I've thought I was 5'4. They measured me at 5'2. I'm crushed!
My measurement at home puts me at 5'2 & 11/16 (because 16ths matter now!) I'm rounding up to 5'3 when I update my stats Nothing has actually changed except my own perception, I know.
My husband's been telling me for years I'm short, while I vehemently declared 5'4 is average height for a woman. Which it is. I'm just not.

OMG yes I'm the same size as you and the same thing happens to me. My hubby is 6'4" so is always calling me short =( I always tell people I'm 5'4" but I haven't been officially measured in years.2

What do gym people know about measuring? You are probably 5'2" and 13/16.20

I'm in my 60s too and I've grown shorter as well.
It depends on who's measuring so I don't even know any more.
Sending you high heels.
No. That's not a solution, that's an accident waiting to happen.11 -

I haven't been officially measured for forever, but I did the old "stand against the wall and mark it with a pencil and then measure the wall" trick and got 5'4 and 1/2". So I usually tell people I'm 5'5, and I believe that means I 'm tall.
My mom's side of the family are all shorties (my mom is 5'0) so they've always called me tall and I've taken it to heart
What you lack in physical height, you make up for in presence. And there's always high heels and stepping stools!12 -
Don't fret. Men die sooner so even if you get to 4'11" he'll be -6'.21

Crap. I was gonna say, "sending you a hug," but that doesn't seem to be a ready-sentiment on this forum. You asked for a hug!

I accidentally imposed the same on a friend when I started recording his weigh in info for him, he tried to tell me he was 5' 10" but is a fraction shorter than me (I'm 5'8") he was most disappointed to learn how short he is, I don't think he has got over it yet (that was a year ago)6

Welcome to the below average club. I'm 5'1'', stopped growing at 14. I've got an inch on two of my aunts, though, so at least I've got that going for me.4

I'll take all the pity hugs I can get. I told the guy who measured me he ruined my day. He didn't even seem to care. Tall people are so heartless.17 -

That is hilarious. Just my opinion, but short is beautiful. Something about giving a hug an being able to pull the huggee's head to your chest makes it better. Not to offend tall ladies, there are obvious perks to hugging a women that is tall. Maybe my same size wife and I need to break out the stool I made for the kids to brush their teeth, we could alternate... maybe I could convince her it is a scientific study... I love hugs, my wife prefers not to hug me. Have a great day.
