Did it. 16 miles.
13 running, saw deer, white squirrel, and ran thru ankle deep puddles. Then, saw a cat attacking a rabbit. So saved the rabbit, ran and power walked to my car. Hopefully, the wildlife center can help him pull thru. He was rather snuggly. Sorta wanted to keep him.
Beat my half record by a few min.
I felt achy but sore. It was a much better run than that awful 14 a few weeks ago.

Still super busy - today with family stuff. Got 4.84 miles in this morning, but ran out of time.
Tonight, I got 6 miles in on the treadmill while watching The Walking Dead.

Thanks @jele30
@AlphaHowls Ouch! Hope you feel better soon. I can't believe you ran for 2 more hours. Oh wait. I can totally believe you ran for 2 more hours.
@mbaker566 I hope the rabbit makes it.6 -
@mbaker566 Epic run!!
@AlphaHowls Respect.
I ran 5 km this morning. Wasn't sure how far I'd go, and when I started feeling the slightest bit of effort, I called it a day.
Good thing I did, I was tired this afternoon. Been getting up too early and busy, busy, busy!
Must rest, rest, rest, this week before Sunday's marathon!!!
1. With Summer approaching, my strategy is always to run early in the morning before the heat hits.
2. 2 years ago for Halloween, I dressed to give the "you're getting too thin" people something to talk about.

@juliet3455 Thank you! At the rate I'm going this month, it WILL take me 21 years to get there. I have decided not to post a goal for Oct. This month is crazy, so not sure I'll be able to run much. I need to get a lot of outside work done, like trimming trees and cleaning the gutters, before it turns cold and I'm going to FL for 10 days, for my step-granddaughter's wedding. Even though I'll plan to exercise and run while I'm there, I know from past experience that is highly unlikely to happen. Anyway, I won't be sitting on my behind, but won't be running much either. I do hope to do better in November and run a 5 mile race in Dec. We'll see how it goes. For now, I'm just going to stalk this group and get inspiration for later.6

Ah, never mind! Just got my "commiserations" magazine! (And my rejects training top. Lol!)8 -
@ddmom0801 - I thought of you when I read this story in Runner's World 😊

Sorry about that @KKHKISHZKH (very difficult name to type or pronounce )! Nice consolation gifts though, I guess.
@mbaker566 aw, the sweet bunny! So glad you saved it and I hope it makes it. Also love the white squirrel. THat was an eventful run and you still got your best time for a half. Well done.
@orphia good luck on your marathon this coming weekend. Definitely rest up! Love the costume.
@MobyCarp thanks for the encouragement. I'm having a hard time knowing what pace to target for a full marathon. Mostly my goal is to finish and try to enjoy the experience. But of course in my heart I have time goals - I'm just not sure which ones are realistic and how to pace from the beginning. I don't think my training run pace was too fast in terms of race pace, it was too fast for 20 miles when already very tired though.7 -
@AlphaHowls you are hardcore! But then so is everyone else on here. Some fantastic race reports and PRs and achievements. I love reading them.
I've got a 10k race this afternoon. It's the Reebok Women's 10k in Boston. It used to be the Tufts 10k, but Reebok took over the sponsorship this year. Always a fun race and I'm hoping this year it will be a little less humid. Last year it was like running through soup.10 -

Wow - 10 days of vacation and 27 pages to catch up. That'll teach me.
I also ran the Wineglass - but the half not full like @MobyCarp and @marisap2010. Remarkably, this was my 21st half marathon and the FIRST time I had to contend with rain. Sooner or later it was going to happen. Fortunately I grabbed my visor at the last minute so at least the rain was dripping off my visor and not my eyelashes!
I was aiming for a finish time between 3:10 and 3:20 - finished in 3:08. While I was happy with the time, what really made me pleased was how I stuck with my pace right through to the end. I tend to hit mile 9 or 10 and slow down and/or start walking more than running. This time I told myself to power through it and keep up my pace - I listened to how my feet were hitting the pavement and fixed my stride/form. It was a great race - very well organized. Since my hubby provides my transportation, he appreciated that there wasn't a traffic boondoggle for him. An easy drop-off and pick-up.
The following Sunday I ran another half (because what's the point of going on vacation if you can't fill it with running?). However - this was a trail run which I assumed meant - you know - trails. It was almost entirely on grass which at first seemed like a cool idea. I had no idea how hard that was going to be. Very slow going because I was constantly (nearly) twisting my ankles on uneven ground. Maybe actual trail shoes would have helped - I was just wearing my regular running shoes.
Here's the thing though - this was a very small race - only 60 people in the half (had I realized that I probably would not have signed up). By mile 1, I was by myself. But by mile 6 or so, I kept spotting a guy that had obviously started out too fast and was now slowing down. I caught him at mile 11 and decided that rather than pass him, I would stick with him for a bit and see if he needed some encouragement or whatever. Turns out he was running the half because he lost a bet - did not train because "I didn't think running 13 miles would be a big deal". I decided to stick with him for the last 2 miles to provide encouragement thinking I was being nice. The final turn before the last 1/4 mile to the finish he says to me "I can't let you beat me even though I know you could. My buddies are waiting for me." I was flabbergasted. We started to run to the finish - after about 50 feet he says "I don't have anything left - I can't run" - so I kept going because he'd really pissed me off. I ran through the finish, waited for him to give him a high-five - he wouldn't even look at me. I should have shouted "not only did you get beat by a woman - you got beat by a 60 year old woman - jerk" - but I didn't. I just picked up my medal, my cold pizza, and told my husband the story who also fumed about it.20 -
I ran the 5k yesterday as planned. I got a new best time of 40:19, which is super slow compared to most of you. BUT my previous best time was 43:58, so I'll take it!
In other news, sadly, I'm banned from any physical activity besides walking in my house at the moment. I have two blood clotting disorders (I get clots often) and I am currently awaiting my appointment today to have testing for what we fear is another clot in my left leg. We'll see what happens with the rest of the day, I guess. It usually ends up with me being in the hospital for a few days and banned from working out for 30 days.
I've enjoyed reading all your updates!

God, some guys can be such eejits. Good for you and congratulations on a good race. I did a 5k earlier this year. Like your half it was a small race with 59 entrants. I ran it really well for me and finished fourth over all and was the second placed woman. The youngish guy who finished fifth behind me was desperate to catch me at the end but I managed to hold on. I heard him later on his phone kvetching to his friend how he'd been beaten by "two old women" and it wasn't fair. The fact he'd also been beaten by two men obviously didn't matter.9 -
I'm taking a break on running this week. My ankle is possibly injured. I will crosstrain all week and attempt a run on Saturday. My last few runs have been uncomfortable. A year ago I managed to finish my first marathon, perhaps the muscle memory is protesting so I don't attempt another.18
-
Oct 1 - REST (planned)
Oct 2 - REST (ummm, unplanned)
Oct 3 - REST (still unplanned)
Oct 4 - REST (again...)
Oct 5 - REST (sigh)
Oct 6 - Crosstrain (Body Pump)
Oct 7 - 14.2
I was aiming for 16 yesterday, but stopped early because I ran out of time due to other commitments. I mis-judged the effort to hike a hill (twice) in my loops. The run itself wasn't hard. No groin or hip pain except for 2-3 times when I overextended my stride.
Definitely sore today in the hip. I see an ortho later today, which really just means XRays and PT to start, I'm sure.
May or may not cross train tonight (Les Mills CXWORX). I have Les Mills On Demand and am really getting some good use out of it for cross training.11
