I’m so excited to see all of the newbies each round and more excited to see them become returnees! What has happened to @puttyputty our greeter?
@OncologyChick .2 kg is actually about 7 oz, almost 1/2#. It’s probably water to have increased that much in a day. Drink more.

Highest Weight (10/2016): 293
Start of Round 57 Weight: 186.6
I have lost 106 pounds so far and my goal is to get down to between 10-12% body fat (Currently about 16.1%) and then slowly bulk to gain muscle. These last 10 lbs. or so have really been giving me fits, so I thought I would join this challenge to give me a little extra motivation.
I lift heavy Monday, Wednesday and Friday and do HIIT cardio/sprints and abs on Tuesday and Saturday, long distance cardio with abs on Thursday. On my lifting days, I try to do a mile on the treadmill before and a mile after lifting. As far as food goes, I eat pretty much whatever I want (my diary is open), I just focus on staying around 1700-2000 calories and getting a good amount of protein. Looking forward to getting to know you guys and encourage each other to reach our goals.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/25 186.6 - Had a pretty good day. Got a late night lift in about midnight last night with 2 miles (1 before, 1
after) on the treadmill. Need to do better on sleep. Averaging about 4 hours per night this week.

@tiabirdie56 I used to make a movie date with girlfriends JUST so I could get that huge vat of popcorn with orange grease. I’m still tempted when DH and I go to see a movie. Think I would settle for a small but the $$ they charge are insane!
@sdelpapa I’m doing keto so start my day with BPC which holds me to at least 11. I might have a cup of butter coffee then and we eat dinner around 4-5. I seldom eat after that but if I do, it’s a tablespoon of natural PB with a little Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa mixed in.

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.
10/25 131.0 Met my friend Amy at the gym yesterday did 20 minutes on the treadmill and 2 1/2 minutes on the elliptical. I know that’s not much, but the gym is remodeling and have no ladies room and I really needed one. I hadn’t been on the elliptical for probably three years and it’s been almost 2 since I last did the treadmill except a few days last month when Amy and I started doing this together. Searched out my HRM and need o update the settings- the last time I used it I weighed 174!11 -
I derailed myself last year undoing a lot of good work. After a long absence from myfitnesspal I am back on track. This 10 day challenge seems like something I can do.

Hello everyone! I am back for this round and loving the 10 day challenges. I'm the kind of person who tends to fall off the wagon for longer challenges, so 10 days is perfect for me and if I have a rough 10 days, I love that I can start fresh. This will be my 3rd round doing this. I actually saw the scale inch in the right direction last round so I am newly inspired.
As in other times I am doing this, I am aiming for exercising 7 of the 10 days of the challenge. I do varied types of exercise. I swim, hit the gym, run (sloooowly, but running nonetheless), practice yoga, and ride my horse, among other things. You also might find me at spin class every now and then. I love moving my body! Exercise has never been my limiting factor when it comes to weight loss.

@quiltingjaine, I used to "enjoy" that salty transfat laden movie popcorn too. Something about that popcorn and oil aroma in the air smacks you in the face as you enter the theater and makes you salivate for it, whether you want it or not. I think the reason I ate the popcorn last night was that I wanted to know what it tasted like before giving it to DH. I added cayenne to it and I like spicy hot, therefore the 2 cup takedown. Lol.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~For those that love popcorn and/or can spare the carbs!
1/3 cup organic popcorn kernels
1 tsp avocado oil
1/2 tsp or to taste, himalayan pink salt or Celtic sea salt
garlic powder and cayenne (any seasoning you want to add)
Mix together in a small bowl. Pour into a doubled paper lunch bag, narrowly triple fold down the top. Microwave for 2 mins 10 seconds on high (1000W microwave) remove when popping slows significantly. Want buttery flavor? I used OLIVIO brand buttery spray.
Yes, I probably will eat some popcorn again but not soon.7 -
@quiltingjaine
Thank you! Sunday is my rest day. But I bowl in a league that night and often golf in the morning on Sunday (I walk the 18 holes usually for about 15,000 steps, but sometimes I take a cart if I feel worn down.)
This is my third round. I think the best part of this challenge is that in recording the weight every day with a comment, I talk myself down from the hype that comes with weighing myself every day. It’s so easy to have the scale affect my mood. This challenge reminds me that my goal for the 10 days is to lose 1.5 – 3 lbs and puts the scale—the ups, the downs, the lack of movement, the ups and downs…into perspective! Thanks everyone and good luck this round!
10/25 -78.6kg, I think I’m noticing a pattern here. I kind of stagnate or fluctuate down and up for a few days, and then drop suddenly and harshly. I think I like it! It sucks seeing the scales go up and up but rewarding when it finally drops to where it really should be, and I guess that’s why we track every day, to see these patterns
10/26 - 79.0kg, I ate over my calories by a lot yesterday. I regret it but it’s done! And not only did the scales go up, but I feel awful this morning. Lesson learned!
10/25 - 145. Excited to be back for another challenge! I've been busy working, eating and then gaining back some weight for the past few rounds. Getting back on track now. I have continued to lift weights and meet step goals, so not all has been lost during the missed rounds. I started with 15 pounds on all of my lifts and a few of them have progressed to over 100 pounds now. It's kind of fun to see those bigger plates on the bar.
@abowersgirl That's exciting on the measurements! Your work is paying off!
@allmannerofthings Woo hoo! Close to being no longer obese!
@sdelpapa I try to be done with eating at least 2 hours before bed. I noticed my sleep is better that way.
@LizzyinWA Welcome back!
@kmfeig87 I totally agree about the weigh ins! Until I started this challenge a few rounds ago, I was a once a week weigher. But I'm finding the daily weighs helpful. For example, I stepped on the scale this morning and was up 2 pounds. If I was only weighing once a week and saw that I'd get all upset and discouraged. But seeing the daily fluctuations keeps me from freaking out at stuff like that. I know it's only temporary and will likely go away in a day or two.10 -
Day/Weight/Comment:
10/25 - 179.2 I will have to make my starting weight my last weigh-in though I'm sure it is up from the travel. I can feel the horrible bloat and the sickness in my stomach. Too many carbs. So, I am home from the University Cancer Center and everything appears to be good! Yay. There is an issue that the scarring has become so bad underneath (I had partial mastectomy) that it is too difficult for me to do monthly self check (lumpy all the time). It has also become difficult for my Doctor to perform the hand test. So I am off to see a plastic surgeon in December that specializes in breast cancer patients. They will be able to address the scar tissue, the symmetry problems and all my options that are available to repair or even replace. I will leave all of it up to the experts. My real dread is that it is so far away for what could be many many appointments and surgeries or treatments. With winter approaching and icy Michigan roads, uggg. However, I’ll do what I have to do so that all the pieces of the puzzle are functioning properly. No weight today, away from scale. Tomorrow morning I will dread seeing the continued damage. I am so happy to be home and am looking so forward to my routine being back in order, even if it’s just for a few days before I must leave this rural nest again. I so, so, so, miss my low carb favorites. Tomorrow is a new and better day! Good luck everyone on this round! And thanks to EVERYONE for all the well wishes. I took them all with me for good luck and as blessings!
@tiabirdie56 which do you think works best for the water retention? the cucumber, the fresh parsley or the lemon? I have what I need for any of them, or any combination. I need relief lickety split!1
10/25: 147.1 ~ Very lazy day, but my first full night off in a while so I needed it. Chugging water before bed to hopefully offset some water retention from all the chips I just ate busy weekend ahead!
@deepwoodslady, Donna, I'm so happy for your great report! That is a blessing!
Cucumber and lemon makes me run like crazy, but in your situation, I would put all 3 in a half gallon of water. 1 cucumber sliced, 2 lemons sliced or just squeeze the juice into the water, 10 sprigs of parsley, let it steep overnight or at least 2 hours and drink it throughout the day.6 -
So after my run, my steps were over 17,000! By the time I've gotten into bed, I'll probably be at over 17.5k steps! I did day 5 of the 30 day challenge and a 7 minute post yoga run so I could do pigeon pose. My cat sat on the (off) treadmill and watched me do yoga. She was just waiting for me to feed her, but I pretended she was cheering me on.13
