    1) Log ALL my food for the day :s (wouldn't even know where to begin)
    2) Go to drs appnt with my son :)
    3) Drink 8 glasses of water (more if I can) BEFORE having a Diet Coke :s
    4) Stay "in the green" with my calorie intake for the day :s (Not even close)
    5) Do some Christmas shopping :)

So yesterday was a bust! I didn't make it to the gym and my anxiety was kicked into gear. My older son has been struggling with some anxiety/depression for a long time now...something he unfortunately inherited from good ole' Mom. He had a dr's appnt yesterday and will now be starting medication to see if that will help him feel better. I'm definitely a stress eater and that showed yesterday. It's probably the biggest thing I have to learn to control (the stress AND not binge eating through it).

@slittlemeister A JOB INTERVIEW!!!! That's so exciting I'm really happy for you as I know it's been something youve been considering for a while now. It also gives me some hope, while I stumble through tough work issues myself that there are ALWAYS options out there if we just put ourselves out there. Best of luck in the interview I'm sure you will do awesome!!!

So many posts on here and so many people working really hard (and maybe being a little tough on themselves). Totally agree with everyone who has said this is about progress and accountability, not perfection. How boring and pointless (and unrealistic!) would this place be if we just had lists of ticks and smiley faces every day? ;)

With that said, I have definitely been less than perfect the last few days! Yesterday evening I went out for tapas as a birthday celebration with colleagues. Didn’t track any of the deliciousness and this morning I am giving myself a stern talking to for worrying about it. Yes, this birthday week has seen a lot of indulgence but a) it’s one week and any gains can be lost again and b) I’ve stayed on track with some exercise every day which is something to be proud of in these cold dark days. I haven’t given up!

I’m tempted to weigh in this morning to ascertain the damage but it was a super salty meal and I am guessing the number will upset me! So I’ve tried on my smallest shorts (still fit) and measured my waist and found hardly any difference and that will do for now!

    Thursday goals recap
    - morning workout ✅
    - Early to school to prep for school trip ✅
    - Remember lunch ✅
    - Dinner out with colleagues ✅
    - Bed by 11. ✅

    Friday goals
    - morning workout
    - Sort reading road map on arrival at school
    - Run home lunchtime for car - collect deliveries
    - Planning time - call watch store and sort sleepover for P
    - Health food store after work
    - Home to decorate tree with the kids!
    - Early night

    Happy Friday everyone x

I'm so glad you're with us to help bring to light the challenges that maintenance can bring and the ways in which you deal with it all. It's all very insightful and I'm taking notes for my future! So glad you had a great birthday, you totally deserve it!!! xo

@cschmitz110515 Glad you were able to connect with those folks - despite the event at which it was at. I'm from a big Irish family and we joke that funerals are the closest we get to family reunions. I'm sorry for your loss.

@mytime6630 Grocery shopping hungry! My nemesis! I always end up with a bag of chips demolished in the car on the ride home :D

Not sure how this works, but:
    I’m 6’0 211 lbs.
My goal is 180 even if people don’t think I need to lose weight, I do!
I stopped drinking 4 days ago for good this time.
I’ve been back to the gym 3 times already.
I’m playing guitar and singing instead of drinking.
The fire is starting to burn, but it’s not all the way lit yet.
I’m here to support anyone I possibly can.
    I can do this.
I'm proud of you already. You're trying and that's a giant step.
You just happened to come on on FIRED UP FRIDAY!!! lol..at least that's what I'm calling it.
You're in a no judgement zone. No one here beats up on anyone. We support, laugh, cry, and get 'er dun
on here. It's a beautiful thing. And brother... WELCOME to better.
Thank you for sharing what you have with us and I respect it. You're on a journey and I believe in you as a person.
I will call you my big brother... not for weight, but because you're 6' and I'm only 5'5"...lol. I can literally look up
to you and smile. Sooo, you play a guitar...Wonderful...I try to sing, LMBO...so lo that no one can hear... I'm not a
Patti LaBelle, but to me, I sound great in the shower...LOL.
Support is welcomed, and believe me..you will get support on here as well... I came on this thread in JULY of this year...best decision I've made in a while. The family on here is genuine, funny, spunky, heart throbbing, and supportive.
Welcome to your new start. This isn't a competition, or a race. It's just what it's called... Just For Today, One Day At A Time. Every small step is a giant accomplishment. Getting out of bed is a "WONDER" each day...and every day above ground, is a blessed opportunity to try again...LIVE again... You're the only you you've got...You're worth this investment. So High Five on the choice to stop drinking. :)

@AJB1014 and @mytime6630 Thank you for the condolences. Because we were such a small staff when I joined that office, we really were like family, and we knew everyone's spouses, kids, etc. We also did social things together much more back then. I even went on double-dates with one co-worker. So yeah, the funeral was tough. But like your Irish family, sometimes those are the only "events" I see certain people at nowadays, and yeah, it feels like a reunion. There definitely was catching up and laughter alongside the tears.

@AJB1014 Wow, you've had a lot going on! That semi incident sounds very scary. Glad you were able to evade and also call the police. Wonderful news from your doctor ~ see, all your hard work is paying off, and your health is so much better for it. Hang in there at work, and glad your DH already has options.

@slittlemeister Great news about the interview. Is the job with another company? Wishing you all the best!

@PackerFanInGB Take care of yourself ~ a concussion is a scary thing. I had a winter fall once that ended with a huge bump on the back of my head, and I had hubby keep an eye on me for the entire day to make sure I was ok. Pretty sure I didn't have a concussion, though, because symptoms weren't anything like what you are having. Do you have to pass a "protocol" like in the NFL? ;) Btw, I've stopped walking Caye before work b/c I don't trust that with my headlamp I'll be able to see icy spots on the road. But I'm planning on walking outside in daylight this weekend if the weather forecast is true ~ will have a very happy dog.

Welcome newbies to JFT! This is a great community for support & accountability without judgment.

To all the JFTers, have a great Friday!!! Hugs & <3

And quitting drinking for good is huge! I did so about 3 years ago and can tell you for me, it was so worth it! Easy?? No. But worth it, yes! You got this!!!

Recap 12/6 Th ~ Still dragging, so reset alarm and no workout before work. :/
    1) Move hourly / stairs breaks at work / 5 somethings = Fitbit 11,339 steps, 250+ steps 13/14 & 29 floors  I don't always remember the 5 somethings, but most times. :D
    2) Workplace mindfulness hike (not enough snow yet for snowshoes) at lunchtime = Temp with windchill in the mid-teens, but once we got to the wooded parts of the trail, very nice. I forgot that walking in even a couple inches of snow on a natural trail is work! According to my walking app, we walked 1.31 miles (some paved), and according to Fitbit, I burned 177 calories.
    3) Meals & snacks prelogged / stick w/ plan / net calories green / 14c water = Stuck w/ plan all day, until I got home from choir... since I was a little hungry & net calories still green, I decided to eat some crackers (RF Wheat Thins). Counted out 1 portion and ate; then counted out 1/2 portion and ate; then continued to eat! >:) Oops. Anyway, estimated & logged for food diary. Net calories ~ 300 red :( , sodium -31, sugar -32 (mostly fruit, skyr & fruit cake... yes, I eat fruit cake & I like it, if it's good-quality), fiber good (yay), protein excellent (yay) & 15c water (yay)
    4) Evening: choir 6:30  / wash dishes  / to-do's :/ more important that Kitty curled up in my lap to have a cuddle :D
    5) Unplug 9:00  / FLOSS  / RETAINERS  / set/verify early alarm (adjust volume), bed & tv off 10:15 :# everything but tv ~ when am I going to stop this?!? (treadmill before work F)

JFT F 12/7 ~ No "unplug" deadline or setting the alarm, since I'm attending a holiday concert in the evening & can sleep in Sat. ~ yay! Keeping my list short today...
    1) Walked treadmill before work / 3 mi 50:54 + cool-down & stretches = happy me
    2) Move hourly / stairs breaks at work / 5 somethings
    3) Prelog meals & snacks / stick w/ plan / net calories green / 14c water / NO snacks after concert
    4) Floss / retainers

@Caseyloupuckett - I get you on the binge days. There are some days I just can't stop myself, but that's the best thing about this group - Log It, Forgive It and Move On! It was Just for 1 Day, the next day can be fantastic!

@maryrobinson40 - I just love you and your upbeat spirit! You bring me such joy reading your posts, thank you.

@Faebert - My 50th birthday week in September was filled with a lot of indulgences as well... I survived it without out really gaining, well 1 pound, but it was gone again the next week, you will survive too, you only turn 40 once!

@mytime6630 - Too hungry, this has happened to me a couple of times this week! I don't know why but it seems I start starving in a matter of minutes after feeling a bit hungry..

@besf1984 - I found it is better for me to just not tell anyone outside of MFP what I'm doing. Too many people think they are experts or give unasked for advice. This makes my life much easier. I'm just stubborn and petty enough to want to prove them all wrong, that is my biggest motivator about any situation like that.

@slittlemeister - Woohoo! A job interview! I am so happy for you! Great NSV, I have a hard time not cleaning a plate too. You know "there's starving kids in Africa", I have heard that all my life!!!! I will not say it to anyone! I read a study not long ago that says we should not force kids to clean their plates as it is being attributed to the obesity epidemic...

@Bex953172 - Mmmm cheese - that's one of my downfalls too

@ironlady70 - The biggest hugs to you

@sarah74_vt - Both of my daughters suffer from depression/anxiety it hurts to see your children struggle. My youngest started having anxiety at age 9, that is when I found out it is hereditary and it how the brain is wired.

@AJB1014 - Wow! My husband drove transport for a lot of years too and gets so angry seeing other drivers on the road now. I actually just complained yesterday on another board about a driver tailgating me. Glad to hear hubby has other opportunities and what WONDERFUL news from the doctor! Have fun trying!

@doubleIronDog - Love you words, the fire is started but not fully lit yet! Welcome.

    JFT - Friday December 7
    2L of water
    Calories in Green
    Only 1 Evening Snack
    5 something at bathroom break
    5 fruit/veggie
    Walk 1 mile
    Write in Journal
Be Conscious of my choices! Do not disappoint myself!

Well this is it, today is my last day! I haven't heard from my VP in two weeks since he hung up on me. They didn't tell me what to do with my gas card, phone, car keys, office keys anything so I sent them an email and told them what I was doing with them. Still no response on that.

I figure I started this job with three specific directives
    1 - Don't kill the cactus
2 - Change the light bulbs to LED's
    3 - Get new flooring

I was successful in all three. The cactus is still alive! It would probably be in poor taste to send them a picture of it pointing that out. At lunchtime I am going to vacuum the car out and wash it. Hopefully I can find the earring I lost a couple of weeks ago doing this. I will then back it into the parking spot so it it takes them a couple of weeks to come pick it up they will be able to get in to boost it. There are no plug ins available to plug it in. Hubby will be picking me up this afternoon.

This afternoon I will colour some more ornaments and ensure I have cleared the cache on the internet and removed auto log in on MFP and facebook. I have already cleared all other personal stuff off of the computer and emptied the office of personal belongings.

So, I have a little dilemma. Sunday is the anniversary of my Dad's death and I am determined not to be sad this year but rather to remember him with fondness and celebrate him. The CP Holiday Train is in town Sunday evening so I had planned to go with my daughter and the Grands. This is a train that travels across Canada and parts of the US stopping in little towns along the way where there is a mini concert. My Dad loved Christmas and would have made sure this was something to attend. My dilemma is I looked at the schedule last night and it doesn't arrive until 815 in the evening, the concert part is from 830-9. This is too late for the Grands. The train is in a neighbouring town at 7, I'm thinking of seeing if my daughter wants to drive out there for it instead.

    Hi Everyone,

I may not be going through anything difficult, but I'm definitely always stressed out. I am a wife, mom to a 2-year-old boy, engineer and grad student. Lately, it's been rough trying to see the point in life and try to get the motivation to lose weight. I've been using MyFitnessPal for a few years now but I've always been on and off, up and down with my weight. I've been on diets my whole life since I was 10 years old, always had trouble. Even when I was in college and lost tons of weight, I still thought of myself as fat and didn't realize that I was finally at a normal weight for myself. My family always told me I was fat and so, that's what I thought I was no matter how much weight I lost. And then again when I first got married, I was at a normal weight but thought I was too fat! Looking back, I can't believe I thought that way about myself. 2 years ago, I had my son and after all was said and done, I still can't get the last 30 pounds off because my mindset has completely changed; I've probably gained even more weight now, I don;t even want to look at the scale. I can't find the motivation to lose the weight. I don't see why I should. What's the point of all this? I've been searching online and I think I am finally able to see why I want or need to lose weight. I also don't have a support group around me. My family always judges and tells me I should do it this way or that way. Even when I lose a little bit of weight and my family can finally see a little change, they say, "Oh, it kind of looks like you lost weight?" More of a question than motivation and support. I really get no empathy or help from anyone, just judging, so it's difficult. Now that I have finally found my 'why' and found this support group, I am hoping that this will be it and I will finally lose the weight. I know I can do it, I just lose my motivation after a few weeks and wonder why I'm going through all this hard work. This time, I have written down my motivations and next time I can't think of why I am trying to lose weight, I will read my reasons.

    My goals right now are:
    - Track my food everyday... I really love MyFItnessPal
    - Start exercising at least Monday through Thursday afternoons
    - Wear my Fitbit to track my burned calories
    - Drink at least 3 liters of water everyday
    - Make sure to eat my 3 meals because I usually skip dinner completely and then I'm starving and I binge on junk food

Thanks for reading everyone and I hope you enjoy your weekend!

    Hey!
You say you're not going through any difficult but you're a wife a mum to a 2 year old (terrible twos right?) and an engineer and grad student! Sounds difficult to me! You've got lots on your plate! I bet your mind never gets a rest!

I stop and start constantly, it's not an easy journey to lose weight, I mean we all KNOW how to lose weightbut actually doing it consistently is another matter.

In regards to your family, just don't tell them. If you're not doing it for them then it's non of their business. They will only result in your downfall. Don't even hint, just do it yourself and when they ask how you lost all the weight just be really vague.
It's stupid that they even think calling you fat for all them years is an okay thing to do!
To be fair my family said they thought I'd end up like my dad (really - I think morbidly-overweight) and when I was 14 my best friend got an anorexia and nearly died and so that was a bit crazy time.

Its good you've found your reason to lose weight, that's all you needed to start, although I've found that motivation isn't going to get me anywhere. Because motivation depends on how you feel so if you "don't feel like it" then the motivation will never be there. So instead of motivation I rely on discipline.

Anyway I really hope you enjoy it on this thread! We've all become good friends and it's great to have even more!

Anyway sorry I waffled on there LOL

Besf1984 I’m so glad I read your post. You’re so right- I have to rely on discipline. Today is my first day “back”. Thanks for a good reminder. I hope I can connect with people through here.

    Hi Everyone,

I love the support you all give each other on here. It's wonderful to see. I pray for all those who are going through difficult times and I hope you find peace to get through it all. Life is difficult but maybe being part of a community will slightly help make things easier.

@besf1984 welcome! This is a wonderful group and you will definitely get the support here that you might be missing at home. Your post spoke to me as I can relate to how skewed our opinions can be of ourselves and how a negative mindset can set us back. I believe you can do it and you totally deserve to be the healthiest, happiest you! Good luck x

    @Faebert Thank you!!!

Yesterday was a good day - found out I have a job interview next week! I'm super excited. :) The timing isn't great as it's the day after my company Christmas party, which will probably reduce the fun of that as it'll mean I can't drink very much and will probably need to leave quite early... But hey, that will help with the diet!

I also had an excellent NSV yesterday. One of the beck diet solution challenges is to deliberately take more food than you intend to eat, and leave some and not eat it. The thought is quite intimidating for me, I hate leaving food. But I smashed it! We had free food available at a two hour workshop I was at yesterday. For a start, I totally ignored the chips and cake and just took sandwiches. But then I managed to leave one of the sandwiches on my plate and not eat it for about an hour! (The plates were then cleared).

Pretty chuffed with that. Need to practice that skill until it becomes super easy. I've noticed that amongst my slim friends, several them eat plenty of high calorie foods but they just stop eating when they're dull and as a result they don't gain weight. I would love to be like that.

Oh how exciting!!! Good luck at the interview! I'm so far behind that I didn't realize you had even applied for anything. you're going to kill it! Go get it, girl!

Also, I haven't gotten to this chapter of Beck's yet to leave food on my plate, but, boy oh boy, is that going to be tough! I always feel that I have to finish my plate. Good job!

    Okay so yesterday was good.
But last night I came downstairs to get some crackers and cheese for me and my partner.
So I brought up like 10 crackers, (5ea) and instead of slicing the cheese and weighing it I just took the block upstairs!
So I had 5, no idea what the cheese weighed (but they're calorie dense anyway) and then my partner decided he didn't want his and I ate his too!
I nearly ate a whole block of cheese.
So I dread to even thnk how much I was over lol!
    Won't be doing that again!

I cannot even TELL you how many times I've gone over because of CHEESE! I live in the Dairy State of Wisconsin and cheese is just a staple food around here. one of my favorites I might add. At least it was Cheese which has some nutritional value rather than empty calories of Candy!!!

Just for today I will try to love at least a little part of me.

How insightful this is. I think we all have days/weeks that we could work harder at this. If it helps, I don't know you at all and I think I already do love a little part of you just by reading this... (((HUGS))) xoxo

    4. Take 10am break OUT of the building - same with lunch :)
    5. Leave by 3:15 for endo appointment :)
    6. Be kind :)
    7. Eat packed lunch :)
    8. Cook dinner at home :)

    1. Wake up 6:15 or first waking :) This is getting easier!
    2. Smoothie :)
    3. Fish oil :)
    4. Water :)
    5. Elderberry :)

Life is hard but I'm so thankful for the people who hold me up - and you ladies are a huge part of that - so many thank yous. Work continues to be a struggle - but DH already has some options to explore and we're feeling a little more optimistic. We've been through some *kitten* together and have come out the other side together and stronger, so that's how I'm viewing this speed bump -character and relationship building. When headed to my appointment yesterday, an 18 wheeler cut off a car and almost killed them driving them into the guardrail. DH's dad was a truck driver, so he hates seeing "ambassadors of the road", as he calls them, do stupid stuff - so he flipped the guy off. THEN the crazy truck swerved into our lane ON PURPOSE and TRIED TO HIT US!!! DH swerved and we would have hit a guard rail if we didnt happen to be passing an exit lane...I called the state police and reported him, but yeah that was scary!!! The day ended on a high note at my appointment though when the doctor said I can stop taking my metformin - my non fasting glucose is down 13 points - and stop seeing him so long as I'm comfortable - so I've been able to heal my PCOS symptoms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He gave us the go ahead to start trying to conceive (although as with most things in life the plan is being adjusted with the unexpected work woes) and said I can come back if we struggle but if I continue with my lifestyle changes he has high hopes!

YES to #1! I have had 2 days this week that I did the same thing! I just stayed in my cubicle and didn't talk to anyone! Isn't it blissful?

Also, congratulations for getting off the Metformin! That is a Fantastic step! I'm very happy for your good news...time to do a happy dance!

Thank you! I was on it for my periods too and the blood sugar levels - I have PCOS. I can tell you the med started sucking less as my healthy habits improved, but it was definitely brutal on my tummy for a while.
