ROUND 62 (Round 9 for me)
5’5” 66 y/o Texas Lady
SW 178 lb.
GW 135-140 lb.
Started Keto WOE on September 24th (2018). Still experiencing decreased arthritis hip and shoulder pain since the second week of Keto. Staying within calorie limits is easy enough, but not exceeding my carb limit is difficult. Per my KetoMojo meter, I’m in ketosis most of the time. Some of my NSVs: my wedding band fits, I wear smaller clothing, and my progress has encouraged my husband to try harder to end his cigarette habit.
Rounds 54 – 61 resulted in a cumulative loss of 24 lb.!
This post documents my last weight loss before I let a careless injury derail me: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/701476/joined-mfp-one-year-ago-today-frumpy-to-fit/p1
This is what I’m going for, second time around.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 151.6 Starting with a loss—I like that. Until now, I haven’t established a round goal, but, this time, my goal is to get below 150 and never exceed that number again. I changed my final goal weight to a range. In that range, I'll be able to wear my size 6 slacks/jeans again, without looking too skinny. In my younger days, prior to the early 1990's and rampant vanity sizing, a regular size 10 was equivalent to today's size 6. I read that Marilyn Monroe was a size 14, which would probably make her about a size 10 in today's sizing. Of course, I've noticed, in general, that the more expensive the clothing, the more generous the sizing. (My only expensive clothing is used. ) Whatever, my goal is getting closer, and I'm excited!
12/15 151.6 I was a little over on calories yesterday, so I’m happy not to see a gain. Today, I’ll try to get in a short walk. The knee is only a little sore now. I’ll find my knee sleeve before I go and keep the walk short. I must be patient and let it heal. Confession: I use my own success post from 2012, linked above, to encourage myself.
12/16 151.6 I think this number will go down tomorrow; we’ll see. Thor and I walked 3 miles yesterday, and it was a beautiful day. I wore my knee sleeve and iced my knee afterward. It feels almost normal today. Thor tried to pull me up a hill so he could chase a deer that ran across the road. I suppose I should be grateful for his assistance. I started the walk singing “Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul” and added a lot of made up verses thanking God for food and shelter, sunshine and rain, family and friends, and on and on. When I ran out of verses, I sang Christmas Carols. Having plenty of breath to sing is one upside of walking slow. 😊
12/17 151.4 Not much of a drop, but better than a gain. My fingers were swollen this morning and I couldn't put on my wedding band. This afternoon, the swelling was gone. Thor and I walked 4 miles today, and I had very slight knee pain and no toe pain. I ordered custom orthotics from the orthopedist today, and got a fresh foot wrap to keep me going until it’s ready for me. Today, three people told me to forget about running again, including my husband. The doctor put in his notes that I’m a trouble-maker. Perhaps I should consider their advice, but it would be a shame not to wear out my new running shoes! 🤔

Also side note my resting heart rate keeps dropping, it was low 60’s during November however last week it averaged 57bpm and last two days has been 55bpm. Hi everybody. I wasn't here for many challenges, I'm trying to come back. I gained so much weight, I afraid to weigh myself. But I'll start to see a dietitian on Monday (12/17), so I'll add my weight on 12/17. Until Monday, I'll add my comments for each day.
12/14
I overate today, I took so much sugar and carb. Every day I feel like I have to eat sugar/junk food, I really addicted. Not a good day, but at least I walked 8200 steps with my heavy backpack.
12/15
12/16
12/17 87.5 kg (192.9 lbs)
This is the first time I weighed myself after many weeks. I wished that I would be less than 88 kg, so I didn't feel so bad, I was ready for that. I went dietitian this morning and we talked a lot and made a diet plan. I feel motivated, we made a goal which is I'll be 79.9 kg (176.1 lbs) after 2 months. In this challenge, I want to end up with 86.5 kg (190.6 lbs). According to my body analysis (with Tanita) I already have water retention, so I think I can lose 1 kg.
12/18 88 kg (194 lbs)
OK. I wasn't expecting this. But this was the first time I drank 2.1 liters of water in a day, maybe it's about that. My dietitian said that I need to drink 3 liters of waters, but it's really hard for me. Whatever, yesterday was the first day of my new diet and it was good. I didn't feel hungry until night. I'm still highly motivated.

GOALS
Keto and IF
Lots of cardio!
Take hormones like I'm supposed to
This is my third round. Lost 5 lbs in round 1, but wobbled up and down in round 2, because of an error with a soda (thought it was diet and wasn't) on keto. Obviously lead to food cravings, several days of higher calorie intakes, and water retention. I should just be getting out of the woods now. Another week before I'm surely out of the woods again.

12/17 - Still between 240 and 245, but can see in feet/ feel in hands, still retaining water. Little frustrated with that. I'm going to hit the cardio hard this week. Was TOM from Thursday to today and I was just too "ugh" to do any exercise. Sore, tired, annoyed. Also felt a twinge of tendinitis in my left leg and didn't wanna screw it up in a real way. Even though not counting calories before I eat anymore (logging it after I've eaten what I want/ need to prevent eating disorder neurosis from sabotaging me), actually doing better than last round on the calorie counts. 14/12 Yesterday was about maintenance intake wise, ate out for dinner unexpectedly. Not a big deal, been under my calories a fair bit during the week. It's out Christmas Jumper day for charity at work with a buffet, tonight is our Christmas lights row and party with my rowing club so it's pretty much a write off in term of calories today, I'll be mindful but not going to worry as I am going sober for charity from Monday so this is my last hurrah!
17/12 Been relatively good over the weekend, a lot of alcohol but calories around my deficit. Weight continues to come off. Goals for today are to do some yoga.
18/12 Not much to say about yesterday had a bit of a bingey evening, probs a tiny tad over maintenance so nothing devestating and expect to see the post-drink water weight hang on a day or two longer.

🎄 6 Days to Christmas Eve 🎄- Let's face it! We are all human.
- Christmas is a time for celebration. We can CHOOSE whether or not to indulge.
- As long as we do so in moderation, there shouldn't be too much damage.
- Indulgence has it's consequences, but they are only temporary.
- Own them, and get back on track.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Round 61 11st 12lb (-1 lb)
Day/Weight/Comment
This is going to be a difficult week
12/14 - 11st 12lb - no loss, but no gain - so I'm ok. Had a choice of a lot of food yesterday evening but just had
one small cake and biscuit, instead of several sweet offerings, including mince pies. Kept within calories.
12/15 - 11st 12.2lb - disappointed because, as always, I weighed everything yesterday and I kept within my calorie allowance and due to walking I also had a good calorie deficit so could easily have had more.
12/16 - 11st 12.8lb - another increase. I weighed and measured everything yesterday and my calorie intake was 1161 calories. I've not yet got to the party days!!!!
12/17 - 11st 12lb Phew - back to starting weight of this round. I had to guess the calories of my intake yesterday. Looks like I didn't do too bad a job, although my macros were not the best
12/18 - 11st 12.2lb - should not have had that biscuit! Had 1253 calories, only ate some of my exercise calories.
12/19 - Meeting friend at cafe as a pre birthday meet up
12/20 - My birthday and a Christmas party with my book group

Round 62: first round
My goal for this round is to continue logging food, water and exercise, and also make it to the gym at least 4x each week before work.

CSW 238.5

Day/Weight/Comment
12/13: 238.5 Starting weight. Today was my rest day from the gym and dealt with a migraine for a nice chunk of the day, so didn't eat much until this evening(3 slices of cheese pizza and 4 small oatmeal chocolate chip cookies that I made for my boyfriend... he won't miss them!) I still was under my goal, but I am expecting a higher weigh in tomorrow morning. Did not drink as much water as I had wanted to.
12/14: 238.5 again today. Realised that I put 239 for some reason yesterday(actually logged same as yesterday). I made it to the gym this morning and put 30mins on the arc trainer, and 26 on the elliptical. I took my mom for surgery this morning, and had to call out of work because it took so long. I ended up only having a banana during this time, and we bought subway after she got out. I DEFINITELY ate more than I planned to, but am going to try to remain good for the rest of the afternoon. I am traveling up to my boyfriend's house tonight, and do not know if he has a scale, so I may just have to weigh in Monday if that is the case. Will focus on water, logging(when possible) and will try for a workout this weekend at some point.
12/15: No weight to report. Spending the weekend at my boyfriend's and he doesnt have a scale... I am not too concerned with this, as we only get to see each other on Saturday night/Sunday, and I am using a vacation day today off of work... Today hasn't been the most focused day eating wise. I made "Firenog" and snowman cookies. But, I have a slice of lasagna planned for dinner and I think I am on track for the rest of the evening. We walked around the stores a bit today, but I am nowhere near my step goal today. I plan on using his exercise bike tomorrow morning, as I want to do some type of work out this weekend. I do need to focus on drinking more water for the rest of the day, though. So that's the plan-try to make the day a little better.
12/16: Today was a much more on track day, despite not being as active as I planned. I turned down many of the sweets my boyfriend kept trying to pass off to me. I am headed to bed early tonight, and hoping that the scale doesn't treat me too badly after this weekend. At least my gym bag and lunch is packed and I am ready to start the day fully on track tomorrow 😊
12/17: 242.1 I expected this. Just have to keep working hard. Focused plan for the day ahead!
12/18: 242.1 again. 45 minute elliptical workout and logged everything I ate... Should see a drop later this week. Off to the gym after I make my lunch for the day again 😊

These next 10 days will include some Holiday parties and my birthday, so I’m just going to continue to track my food and be mindful of my eating, but I’m going to enjoy this time of year with all the celebrations.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/14 - 144.5 - I'm down just in time for a tax planning lunch with a client. I checked the menu and there's no real low calorie options. I'm just planning to bring half of the lunch back and I'll give it to my husband to eat over the weekend.
12/15 - 144.5 - We're going out to eat tonight with some friends. I will probably be fine on the food calories, it's the adult beverage calories that will get me tomorrow. Oh well, it's time for celebrations. In a month, I won't be able to go out much at all.
12/16 - 145.5
12/17 - 145.5 - Glad it's not higher. I did some mindless snacking yesterday which I have not done in over 9 months. Back on track today in preparation for all the parties this weekend and next week.
12/18 - 144 - I'm surprised at this number. I doubt this sticks, but I'm happy to see it today.

Round 62 - my 5th round
Female - 58 - 5'7"
OSW: 271.8 (Oct 9/18)
UGW: 165.0 or lower
End R58: 261.2 (-2.2)
End R59: 258.8 (-2.4)
End R60: 256.6 (-2.2)
End R61: 252.0 (-4.6)
My goal for this round is to keep my wits about me! I'd also like to get in to the 240s during this round.
12/13 - 252.0 - End R61 - starting weight for this round.
12/14 - 253.4 - Nothing to worry about. 3168 cals yesterday. I was super hungry all day and gave in to it. For the 3 days before yesterday, my calories averaged 1506/day and that seems to be my "1200". I can't do too many days in a row at that level. I can lose a lot of weight quickly but I get too hungry & tired. That's without even exercising. I should probably aim for at least 1600 - 1700 per day and perhaps that would help me avoid the high calorie days. ***ETA: I just changed my daily goal to 1700. Hopefully that'll help me find a balance.
12/15 - 254.4 - Oops! I seem to sabotage my efforts whenever I get close to a milestone. 4010 calories yesterday!
12/16 - 254.6 - I did okay yesterday (1721) and we went for a nice, long walk but it's going to take a few days to turn around from two very high calorie days. I changed my limit back to 1500 this morning. I have to find those wits!
12/17 - 254.6 - My backsliding all started way back on the 1st Saturday of December when I had a meal out and some cookies & cake afterwards. Then I made some fudge for John to take to work and that I got in to, along with the left over ingredients. It seems I've had a rough ride since.
