Six years sober today.
I found this thread a few days ago trying to find any information about mfp ever fixing the news feed.
I've read a number of posts and can relate to so many. It's not hard to remember waking up hungover with guilt, shame and remorse pouring off me every morning for so many years.
I hope everyone is able to find serenity in their battles. 🙏
Thanks, I really appreciate you input and others on here.
I'm still going, kombucha has been my rescuer so far. When they fill the fridge with beer etc, I'm filling my kitchen fridge with kombucha, soda water and fruit.
I feel the worse is yet to come but I'll going a day at a time. Thinking if it gets too tough I'll go for a walk or go to the gym.
Thanku everyone for your support..xo4 -

In the same boat....I cant drink....therefore the only choice is abstinence
Day 16 done and dusted
Me 2. I'm glad I'm not the only one.4 -

@scott8210 Congratulations on 6 years sober! Yes, I never want to go back to that guilt. Every morning, thinking today I'll have a day off, gearing up for it all day, then going straight for the bottle when getting home.
I would use up all my willpower so I was weak by the time I got home!
10 months so far, but that's still fresh in my mind.
Thanks for posting.

@ElC_76 That's a great plan to do some exercise if it gets difficult!2 -

Eek, you misunderstood! I was agreeing with you! Your 3am experience description sounded awful and that you regretted drinking, plus your dilemma over wanting more.
I agree it was a success. I love your posts and your progress. [/quote]
We're good. I'm too happy to be snarky. Wishing us all the best today!

I posted my story on my feed yesterday; what life with alcohol was like before, what changed and what it's been like after. Feel free to add me if you'd like to read it. Hope everyone is having a great Monday so far!4

A recent thought.
When you drink to celebrate, or when you don't drink, you still need to spend 99.9% of the time enjoying the moment.
The act of drinking (putting a glass to your lips) isn't really the celebration.4 -

@scott8210 The MFP wall feeds are borked at the moment so no one will see it.
Could you post it in here? (You're also not allowed to link to a personal site.)0 -

That's incorrect but doesn't matter as feeds are working again. And I didn't link to a personal site. Sorry for offering. I wish everyone here the best.4 -
Ouch! What a brutal lesson I learned. I seriously was in bed for 36 hours straight. This was one bad hangover. Thanks for ALL of your beautiful words of support , kindness, motivation and love. I can now see straight to read them all.
Lesson learned i hope! But as we all know one day at a time...
I had one glass of wine at lunch by myself, went home and decided I’ll open a bottle. And then because I was feeling so good... went out with friends and drank more. It was like a frenzy in my head. I have no real memory of thinking “maybe I shouldn’t” - I was like the Tasmanian devil. I will dust myself off, and go to an AA meeting tonight. I have to get back on track. Love you all!
P.s. I dont recommend dipping your glass back into the drinking scene, if you are like me, and just cant stop at one. I really thought I could just have a few. But my brain is so screwed up; those days are long gone. Now, I have to crawl my way back up to several months of sobriety where I felt so damn good even though I felt quite lonely.10 -

Misunderstood again! I don't know where to start with that. I'm having a bad week in here.2 -

Day 17....today i was thinking that how hard it is to stop but for the 3rd time this year i am doing an AF month....i must consider 2018 a successful year from that perspective...having said that i did not know i had a problem until i admitted and then it became a whole big thing in itself....its kinda like cancer...you are going about your business but as soon as you get treatment, the full force of it hits you10

Very insightful, Norm.
Ruby, my heart goes out to you. xooo
I heard a funny analogy that made me want to tell the Sober Squad...
Alcohol is like Puffer Fish. Bad things can happen when you eat Puffer Fish. To be safe, avoid the Puffer Fish.

Drinking was always more of a social anxiety coping mechanism for me . I always thought I needed alcohol to feel confident and for others to like me when it honestly caused more problems.
I am now on a path to find ways of seeing the world for the beauty it is and enjoying my life with my beautiful kids without being under a dark cloud of delusion.
I don’t miss the guilt, anxiety and hangovers!.
Good luck everyone else on the same journey.6
