Put a pillow between your knees. It helps.17 -

For the shoulder, it can also help to have a nice fluffy pillow that you cuddle, as it helps keep you from collapsing into your shoulder.8 -

@adkhiker63 your bit about cleaner eating and sense of smell seems to be more common than I thought.

I think I always have my shoulders flat, i know its a weird sleeping position.. Maybe thats why my back hurts
For the knees, I started putting the covers inbetween and it helps1 -
Something else I noticed last night.. (Wow too many epiphanies this week)
I have been in a calorie deficit for four months.. And it's the first time I felt small when I tucked myself in.. The mirror isn't always the best indicator for me, but putting my pyjamas on and laying in bed? I felt so small for the first time in years!20 -
That doing this thing in a slow and steady FOCUSED way is everythang. Refusing to "allow/permit/embrace" discouragement and all it's UGLY friends/partners: fear, doubt, comparing oneself, HURRY, stress, yuck is a huge reward/treat. Learning to say YES to what's healthy and good for you (not merely in eating and drinking, but EVERY area of your life) and learning to say NO!!!! to yourself and others is so, ummmmm...tremendous and wonderful (FULL of wonder). ALL of this, from weight loss BLASTIFICATION!13

This made me so sad because it sounds like someone bullied you and called you awful names. Even if they didn't, you did to yourself. I'm glad you're losing weight, but I hope you see that you were always worthy of wearing any color you wanted no matter your size. What color looks good on you has nothing to do with poundage. And elephants, pigs, and bears are all wonderful intelligent creatures after all. Be kind to yourself, OK?
I know this is an old quote, but thank you for the comment and support. Need more like this on MFP and face to face. Great example.

So many pearls of wisdom around here
Well my 2 cents is for extremely overweight persons like I used to be but back in 2011 The world will not really be better once you are fit
Once you get used to eat little portions you can get addicted and with health problems like bulimia really easy
The scale will become a new addiction
getting new clothes will become almost as expensive as chocolate and chips :P
Keep it going after you reach your weight goal, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or even 1 year diets are nothing, if you lived something like 30+ years destroying your body don't expect less time to recover, but 1 hour is all it takes to start the change24 -

Perhaps it's just me, but my sense of balance took some getting used to. I was used to a particular force of movement to turn around, etc. etc. and I now find - even after a couple of years of maintenance - that I am still over estimating how much force I need. I'll move too much or too fast, and it is a bit strange.
Body dysmorphia, as has been written about many times, is still a constant. I used to be very fit, put on about 40 kg in weight, and then lost it all and have maintained the loss over the last couple of years. When I was overweight, I saw myself as being slim and it took about 5 years or so to realise the difference. I now see myself as overweight and it is probably going to take a similar amount of time to see myself properly.
It doesn't really affect me emotionally, but it is definitely a curiosity. Oh well, c'est la vie, as they say here in Switzerland!19 -
something i realized today getting ready for work... i no longer need wide calf boots! ☺️20

This. And airplane seatbelts get longer. And my car seat is further back.
Just starting out but I can't wait until I can stop living the embarrassment of asking for a seatbelt extender.13 -
Seats definitely aren't as comfy as they once were. I've still got a fair bit of weight to go until I'm at my target and I'm already worried I'll have to carry around a cushion with me wherever I go.9

I'm sooo close to my goal....but there always seems to be "just 5 more pounds" to go....lol22
-
^^^Hahaha I'm glad I'm not the only one. Every time I lose 5 lbs it seems like "just another 5 pounds and I'll be there"... Then lose 5 more and still looks like I need another 5 pounds...lol11

My dressy boots don't fit anymore!! My calves are too small and the boot tops fall down.13

- how much confidence it will actually bring, especially when strangers start treating you like royalty all of a sudden!
- Sitting (particularly in baths) and laying (particularly in beds) will become ever increasingly uncomfortable.
- how vain you will become! I can't walk past a mirror without checking how I look nowadays!
Your turn!

How your clothes are suddenly too big and it feels like the Twilight Zone...like they got bigger rather than you got thinner.20

Believe in the mfp guidelines and follow the advice - you will get there Just remember - there are no quick fixes - this is about changing the habits that got you to the place where you have to ask for seatbelt extensions - be patient, avoid the false promises of crash dieting, change your mindset and learn to enjoy a varied diet in appropriate quantities. Hoping 2019 is kind to you and yours19 -
Jumping into the “5 more pounds” line!8

Thanks for the kind words, I am learning about calories and after Christmas I am going to begin making changes one at a time. No more jumping in head first.

I've lost 85 pounds...
1. Being able to fit in the regular bathroom stall
2. Realizing that my oversize bath towels are HUGE when before they were the only ones I could wrap all the way around
3. Being able to tie my shoes without holding my breath
4. finding bones I didn't know I had
5. shopping in regular size sections of the store.
6. Not immediately going towards the largest size available
7. being able to cross one leg over the other
8. Then being able to cross that leg without grabbing it with my hand to pull it up
9. my hip/butt not pressing into the seat belt buckle in my car
10. Having to move my seat up and my steering wheel down in my car
11. Clothes getting too big
1. Everyone thinking it's okay to tell me I need new clothes (I know but I can't afford a new wardrobe for every 20 pounds I lose)
2. My favorite shirt is now way too big
3. Deflated boobs
4. crapey skin
5. Hanging skin
6. Everything on my body feels too lose.

Me too! Can't believe things are getting too loose for my usually super thick, chunky legs!5 -

This. I have also noticed a blanket goes a lot further in covering me up. Good thing because of the 'always feeling cold' phenomenon.7 -
That one day, perhaps sooner or definitely later, after reading and looking at, being inspired/encouraged from a multitude of Mfp success stories, you'll be adding your very own success story to/on Mfp!!!!!18

I went through a phase of falling over all the time. It would happen when going down stairs quickly or starting off on a run for the train. I was starting to get worried. But it has completely settled down now and my balance had become better than it ever was. I am now constantly amazed at how little space I need to manoeuvre. I also don't bump into walls and doorways like I used to.8
