Allie ... update your resume with ALL of your skills. You may find that the new owner wants to utilize his new staff in the ways that best benefit his office! Chin-up ... you have much to offer!
Vet called back today with our black lab's test results ... all clear except for a slightly elevated liver panel ... which also correlates to the recently discontinued arthritis medication. I'm convinced more than ever the the medication and the hair loss are related ... mostly happy that there's nothing more serious than old age going on ...
I am with Lisa and NY Karen as I sit here with the last episode of heartburn that I will endure this holiday season! Right now, not tomorrow or January 1st ... I'm back at it!

I find it helps me to have a good attitude by “presuming good intentions.” Like Machka’s example, it may just be his way of getting to know you. If, indeed, the worst happens, you will at least have a good, updated resume for job hunting. But first, give him a chance and present yourself and your qualities.
I’m going to intermittent fasting with a 14/10 balance. My eating window will be 11 to 8, allowing for some flexibility in that tenth hour. I’ve got to be more accountable, and I’m hoping this boundary will add a layer of structure to my calorie counting. I’m going with 3 simple boundaries: 1. Only eat between 11 and 8. Non-caloric drinks during fasting window. 2. Do not go over MFP calorie max. 3. 10,000 steps per day.
I’ll still shoot for 3 to 4 days of weight training, and 3 to 4 days of cardio but that will just be icing to help me achieve the 10,000 steps and occupy me from thinking about food. I’m not really going low carb but will choose more complex carbs and more fruits and vegetables. I just finished eating for the day. Oh my! This is going to be hard. I’ll have some herbal tea before bedtime.

Beth, Lisa’s words spoke to me also. I was thinking after my daughter leaves or Monday or January 1st. So it is now. I have lots of food to get rid of while my company is here but two teenage boys should take care of that.
Allie, think positive and have confidence in your abilities. You do so much for that office and he needs to see that reflected in your updated resume. You Can Do This.
Michele, I hope Jess feels better and the roommate situation is resolved quickly.Trying the spoiler thing. This my granddaughter at college graduation.

Hello from rainy, windy, and back to cold Ohio. Was beautiful all day with temperatures in the upper 50's most of it. On way home from work, the cold winds started blowing. It is now 37 degrees. Craziness. So I apparently have been pretty off line since September......that kind of surprises me, yet doesn't. So I will let you know what has been up with me, then I can go back to September and start reading to catch back up with you all!
In September my husband and I went to Pigeon Forge for our yearly vacation. It was quite relaxing and so wonderful. We were able to finally be back in "our" cabin. It is so welcoming. We were having a great time when I got a strange text from my SIL (who is the other owner of our shop). She says while she can't go into it right then, she just wanted to let us know that her daughter and my son in law were handling things at the shop. Really???? I have lots of faith in my son in law. He has been with us for 3 years now and does a decent job, but not enough that I would willingly leave him in charge. Her daughter works when she "wants" to work. She does okay, but has no clue on most things at the shop. Needless to say, my husband gets all worked up. I managed to stay calm. I looked at him and said we have 2 choices....ONLY 2.....We either pack up early and go back to work and lose the last week at cabin OR we figure they can handle it and we stay and enjoy our vacation. He tried to come back with buts.......I cut him off.... Only 2 choices! If we stay we will be just enjoying ourselves. They can call us if really needed. As long as they didn't get anyone injured or burn the place down while we were gone, we could fix the rest when we got back. Thankfully we stayed and enjoyed the rest of our vacation. No they didn't burn the place down Oh, and nobody got injured. It seems my sister in law had a nervous breakdown and couldn't handle it at work. Now, please keep in mind that she generally left between 12-2 anyway most days, and leaves most of the customer dealings to me. My son in law said he tried his best to keep up with my work and his. Bless his heart he really did. Sister in law says, it shouldn't take you too long to catch back up. Well, if I didn't have units that had been sitting there for 2 weeks already waiting on estimates, plus any problem children, plus all the warranties etc to write, she would probably have been correct. Added to that was that the husband and I had to leave the Thursday after we got back from vacation for a dealer meeting until the following Sunday. That was not a relaxing event. From sitting at the airport once we landed for 4 hours waiting for the lightening to move out so we could get our luggage and get to the hotel, to getting to hotel and them not having a room ready for us, to almost missing dinner and that was the first day! Needless to say, there were a few drinks had that evening. I survived the trip, tried not to worry about the shop in the little spare time I had between meetings, and made it home Sunday afternoon.
October- still trying to get my bearings from being gone most of September. Trying to get house in order-hahaha! Trying to catch up on paperwork from September. I did get away for the weekend with a girlfriend to Nashville, IN for a girls weekend. It was relaxing and fun. No men were allowed. No internet either and little to no cell service- bummers-lol! Hunting started the middle of the month- Thank you Lord! I pulled an all nighter and finally caught up on all my work paperwork. Still was struggling with house and bills. Just trying to find the time and energy to get things done. SIL was still barely coming to work, and we were still busy. I want to Thank whoever it was that mentioned "clutterbug"! I love her ideas, videos, and tips! Made it through the month. Had plans for hunting weekends in November!
November- Man, I was a busy lady! With both guys gone hunting most of the month, my SIL still mainly out, her daughter having surgery, the shop fell on mine and my son in laws shoulders for the whole month. Insane. We were running 2-3 weeks on repairs. I left work at work though as I had stuffs to do at home. I finally got my daughter and son in law to clear their stuff out of my MIL's barn. It had been there for almost 3 years. A lot got donated, the was quite a bit that we just tossed, and the rest is now taking up space in their garage. I got my sh** together at home. Using ladybug organizing and minimalist ideas, I organized the guest room, my closet, my dressers, my hutches, my kitchen, my bathroom, and my paperwork. High Five! I got a lot of it done before Thanksgiving, but then finished up that following weekend. FEELS so good!!!! Decluttering a success and have maintained for 4-6 weeks depending on the area. My husband has no clue how much I took to goodwill and the dumpster. His only comment was what did I do with his stuff. I did NOTHING with his things. I just moved them out of my way. He is an organized hoarder. I just put things away (like nic-nacs) when I get tired of dusting around them.
December- I finally got Christmas cards out and tree up the second weekend. He was hunting. The grands came and baked cookies the third weekend. We always have a blast. We got taken out to dinner the Friday before Christmas to an awesome restaurant. It was fabulous! My niece was induced on the 19th of December. Aubrey was born on the 22 and was transferred to John Hopkins for heart surgery before my niece even got to hold her. Aubrey is doing well and expecting a full recovery. Praises! Christmas was peaceful. My husband got me a new laptop before I threw my old one across the house-hehe! I hated getting on it as it was always troublesome and loud. Probably why I wasn't here much. I find it hard to type on my phone for long. Love the new one!
So If you stayed with me this long, thank you, and sorry so long. I got a spark hydrate bottle for Christmas. I love it! I have even manage to hit my water goals each day. My house is organized, just need to get cleaning schedule. Clutter was my big problem. Husband not so much. I did manage to start vacation 121. Wanted to be below 120, but that was good enough for me. I am finishing up the year at 125.8. Higher than I wanted, but still 4 pounds lighter than I started the year! OH, and we got my hot tub back together and working! I plan on staying on track ladies!
I love all of your support! Welcome to the new ladies and those who have been MIA for any time. Prayers for healing and comfort as needed. Hugs to all who wish to receive them. And a belated Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone, just got caught up on all the messages. I am really enjoying this group so much and feel a kinship already with many of you.
My oldest son and DIL were here until yesterday morning. They live in Chattanooga TN, only two hours away but it was great having them here with their Brittany, Toby.
Their gift to me for Christmas was a commissioned portrait of him (photo in spoiler). He's such a beautiful dog and so special to me. My first grandchild, er, grandpup!
We actually had three pups in the house over Christmas: Toby, our Schnauzer foster Ollie and a friend's Schnauzer Ursella. Fun times!!
My youngest son is still with us. He lives in Anderson SC and is here until 1/1/19. His birthday is 12/31 so we celebrated on 12/26, while the others were here. Went to Jimmy Kelly's, a fabulous steakhouse here in Nashville TN (photo in spoiler). My youngest son, David, is on the left, me, my oldest son Jonathan, his wife Katie, and my husband Doug:6 -
Allie - I agree, the new employer might really want to see how he can best utilize his employees. Someone may have a skill that is not being utilized and he would benefit from its use. Keep thinking good thoughts until you have a definite reason to think otherwise.
Shadow has been downstairs a few times today.
Kylia - I'm glad you decided to stay. So glad to hear that things are OK with Aubrey.

Hi Gals,
Omg – I haven’t been here since the 18th! I have a bunch of conversations in my head with you…. I’ll read for a bit and see if I can catch up!
Heather – the money thing has come up a few times in the time I have known you, and while of course you are not going out to get a job, could you make a bit more by pushing to get another book done and see if it would bring in a bit of cash? It always seems to me that when money is an issue, it is time to really look inward at what can I do to change the situation, less expenses? More income?
Machka – great job on finishing your class and on the huge amount of progress on your degree.
Pip and Kirby – great news on the Christmas gift!!!
Mary – Hugs!!!
Kelly – what a great story
Christmas was a 4 part -er the Saturday/sunday before with friends that was an A, Christmas eve at friends an A- the company was great the food a bit odd…then Christmas day with family – it was a C- I had a small voice inside my head thinking I should not do this, you know better – But mom would love it so much…. (for the newbies there are a lot of family issues). Anyway I ignored that voice and went, the beginning went ok probably a B- and then my brother decided that he never gets to go first on anything so I offered my place in the buffet line – OMG he lost it and left breaking things, banging and with an amazing collection of foul words in his wake. We had a stilted dinner, I got dishes done and was out of there. The texts that followed could easily be used to have a restraining order in place, but he had a seizure that night, so I know death is not far away the cancer has moved to his heart, lungs and brain. But my nephew and I are to spend new years together and his dad (my brother) is threatening him if he sees me or even talks to me. Poor kid (20 years old) is in a quandary go to San Francisco for new years with me and some friends or stay home with an angry mean dying father. I have totally left it as his decision.
I have to re-work Christmas and the months leading up to it as I was exhausted. I worked too many hours and had so little to show for it, my tree was in the stand but still has not be decorated (I’ll be taking it down this weekend) the house is not decorated, and I never really enjoyed the holiday. I realized yesterday I never even turned on Christmas music. I am starting a spread sheet to see if I can get a handle on it for 2019. The upside is my friend group looked at the calendar and will be celebrating the Saturday/Sunday after Christmas in 2019; and instead of 16 gifts (one for each) we are drawing names. So it will be a bigger gift; instead of stocking stuffer type, but just one. I am not the gal that does 16 of the same thing but each is picked with the person in mind.
Thinking of you all,
Kim from N. California

Yes ... looking over a staff person's resume is a great way to see what you've got to work with. Maybe this person is doing these things currently, but is qualified to advance to those things. And next thing you know, you're on track to take on a higher level position.
I'm glad to hear that your dog is all right ... except for old age.

Kim - So sorry for your brother woes. It's how it affects everyone around him, isn't it. The good thing is, he hasn't got long on this earth. I hope everyone's life will get a bit easier when he is gone, but it is only human to have mixed emotions, especially your mother. You did well to stay calm. I will be thinking of you. Sounds as if you did/will have some fun over the season.
I was thinking of going for a Parkrun this morning on the seafront, but I'm backing out. Cold and dark out there. Not enticing. I will do my exercising with DH and go for a run this pm.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxx2 -

Terri "...keep up all year round"? Would you share a pic?
Kylia glad to see you again. Whew what a whirlwind update!

Michele Ta DAA!
Allie ditto what Barbie said. New owner probably just wants to get to know his new team. You have filled so many functions for that office, he'll recognize you for the treasure you are.
Machka the director who went over your updated resume at each annual review gave you a great gift. An ordinary annual task instead of a stress-filled emergency one.
Beth ditto! Allie will find she has contributed more than she knows.
Kay "presuming good intentions" Excellent advice for "flipping" the whole dynamic, from fear and reluctance to confident interest.
Kim especially for your nephew.
Welcome jandugan
Too sleepy to share any stories. Maybe tomorrow.

Just a quick one, we are all walking around like zombies, (all have coughs/colds ) daughter Heather has not gone to work so I know she is feeling very poorly, she very rarely takes time off she works 365 days a year! Son Paul has gone to work, but he is also under the weather - I'm feeling a bit better today, but feel as if I should be fumigating the house to get rid of the germs I hate this time of year, roll on spring!
The hospital called yesterday, dads medication has finally arrived, not sure how we are going him to take the 14 tablets daily, but we will do our best. To be honest he's been a little better not taking the tablets, but I suppose we don't know how it's affecting him inside.
We have nothing planned for the New Year, so I expect it will be quite low key. Are any of you planning any big celebrations?

Uggghhh…had to get up at 3:30. Usually my routine is to go empty Shadow’s litterbox and she comes to greet me. This morning she just looked up from her bed as if to say “it’s too early to be greeting you”. Looks like the flight is 5 minutes early. Guess that’s one of the advantages to having an early flight…less of a chance for delays.
Kim – I’m so sorry that Christmas was so bad for you. Your poor nephew
We need to leave in about 5 minutes

He was really good. He also encouraged us to keep our resumes updated year round ... not because we were about to be let go, but because it is a really good way to see where we are and where we might want to go with our education and careers.
Plus, with him, it helped us give a basis for discussions about education. We could say, as I did, that I was starting to do a lot more computer work, that I had some computer education but would like more ... and next thing I knew, I was taking night classes paid for by the company.

I love everyone's advice about the resume. One of the things I LOVE about this group is the support. I have never had a resume.......restaurants and family day care didn't need one. I "fell" into my husband family business. I am thinking it would be a great idea to do one just so I have a visual on my skills.
Michele- have a safe and fun trip!
Kim- Kudos for you trying with your family. I am happy your friends came through. I have had Christmases where i just couldn't get it done. But then the next or maybe the one after that comes together. Have fun with your friends! Give a hug to your nephew.
Viv- Hugs! I have friends that have been sick with something for 6 weeks and moved in that time frame. I keep telling them they need to disinfect everything! Dont forget about your car steering wheel and shifter. Hope you all get to feeling better soon.
Our plans for New Year are nonexistent. Kids not coming, something about teenagers boyfriend and their new puppy. The friends that usually come over are sick. So quiet evening at home.
It is Saturday. Work until 2, then off until Wednesday! I have some goal planning to do both work and personal. Christmas coming down. Clean house to start the year fresh. Decluttering is done, but laundry, carpets, floors, and dusting to do.
Have a day of great choices! Hugs to all, because they make everything better!

Good morning Ladies -
NYE plans - We live in a very social neighborhood. We will be going to a neighbors for the evening. We usually get home by 12:30 or 1. The party usually starts breaking up just after midnight. We are headed to the grocery store soon. I will be making beer cheese and hubs will smoke a bunch of shrimp. I’ll also heat up some frozen pretzels and lightly steam some broccoli and cauliflower to dip in the beer cheese. Oh, and I’ll take some drunken cherries.
Okie in the TX Hill Country4 -
Allie - What the others said. If you go in there with the why bother, they’ve already nailed my coffin shut attitude they will pick up on that. Show them all you can do and be positive.
Welcome to all the new Ladies. Dive right in and join in when something interests you.

3.66 km run ... well, it was 2 runs. I ran a loop, felt good, and ran a second loop.
Strava says we also walked about 4 km on one particular walk. I don't think we did because our walk line, on Strava, looks like we were seriously dizzy! However, there was more unrecorded walking including a hill climb and 10 flights of stairs, so including all that 4 km is quite likely.
That's about all for today.

Ali I'm repeating what many have said about the meeting with new boss, pretend it is the funnest thing ever to redo your resume, seriously, make a list of the amazing person you are, how you bring your best to the job, I'm not kidding, it is a good thing to write it all down. Sometimes we're taught not to "toot our own horn" well..... toot away!!! You are an asset to the office, time to let the new guy know how much you love working with people. I hadn't dusted off my resume in decades, I had to redo my resume last year and boy it was a terrific exercise. I also had to have a new administrator observe me on a more intense/detailed cycle. At first, I wasn't sure how that was gonna go, I decided to be myself, (I've been doing this for a long time), I didn't know how I came across to someone completely new to our district, long story short, she saw things no one else has ever noticed and that was a really good thing! Sometimes a "micro-manager is a scary thing, I just flip it and remind myself a micro-manager can find things and improve things that folks have been ignoring for too long. Change is scary, but Ali you can handle change, just look at this year, you can handle it with strength and grace for sure.
Today, I'm happy to clean, declutter and reorganize before the new year, I get a little crazy about wanting to sweep out the old to get ready for the new! So today, after the gym, I'm cleaning out the fridge and reorganizing my inbox which is a bit overflowing.

I'm so excited. I'm in a weight loss challenge here on MFP. For the month of December I have lost 8 pounds. AND -- for this past week I maintained my loss. Did not gain an ounce over Christmas!! Although I would have loved to have a loss over Christmas week, this is a huge improvement of past years where I would have gained about 7-10 pounds. Pumped for January and hope to lose 8-10 pounds then as well. Love MFP!!!6

Hi everyone! I am returning to MFP after a hiatus. I first joined about 8-9 years ago, lost 30+ lbs, maintained for 3-4 years, got comfortable, eventually deleted my account and then life and its challenges happened. My weight and BP are up and my cholesterol numbers aren't good. I started medication, had side effects and stopped the meds. Since I would rather not try anything else, I need to get my act together. I am a runner and I am recovering from an injury. I am currently seeing an athletic therapist and a physiotherapist and I am making progress. I am looking for like minded women and would love to meet new people.
I forgot to mention that 2019 will be a year of change: I want to lose 25-30 lbs, I am going back to school part-time in January and will be starting a new part-time position in January. Too much all at once? Maybe, but I am up for the challenge.9 -
Hi everyone! I am returning to MFP after a hiatus.
Pretty much the same here. I just gave up. I have yo-yo'd for all my adult life and just sick of that, not to mention what it's done to my body. 2019 is the year that I will either reach my healthy goal weight or be very, very close to doing that. I joined 11/30/18 (again) and have lost 8 pounds since then. Pumped for a very successful, healthy 2019!!4 -
morning ladies~
I am up dressed and went to feed DFIL, well I tried to feed him, he was spitting stuff everywhere , being a freshie....
so I left and will go back at lunchtime and see if he will eat then.. at least they have him out of bed and sitting up.. 2 days in bed was enough...
tonight going to meet friends to listen to a jazz quartet .. so that will be fun..I will have time over the next few days to fine tune and redo my resume... and you all are right.. I just don't think I will get a raise..but ya never know..
I broke down and apologized to Mary and gave her a hug before I left yesterday.. she wanted a personal apology ,even though she was in the wrong I did what I needed to do to keep peace ..5 -
