I asked about him being hospitalized ,and they said why do that? why confuse him and put him somewhere he isnt familiar.... so I trust there judgement...0 -
Back from the vet. Will have to wait on the results of blood labs, but the vet didn't seem overly concerned with our list of symptoms. Zeke is not losing weight (just all the fluff of his fur) which is good because earlier this year he was underweight and we had to take care of that with increased feedings. The hair loss might be his thyroid ... might be his age ... or just having an aggressive black lab shedding episode. I'm convinced it was the arthritis med, and if that's the case, he should eventually regrow the hair. Overall, the vet thinks he is doing amazingly well for a dog his age.5

The movie we wanted to see was sold out. So disappointed. My partner told me to buy tickets online this morning, but since we were planning to see the 3D version I was sure there would be plenty of seats since the tickets are more expensive. I should have listened to her!

Funny Pip!
I have a friend that was in a bad accident and came close to losing his lower leg. He had some serious incisions. Every one would tell him to cover it up. I was down on the floor commenting on how neat the stitches were Blood I don’t do well with, incisions fascinate me.

I've been somewhat productive today. I exchanged a bunch of clothes for my son, sewed on two buttons, scoured the turkey roaster, and packed up some Christmas wrap and packaging.
I received an instant pot for Christmas, and now I'm wondering what to make in it. I probably need to get the instructions out and give 'em a good read. I also need to watch a video on how to assemble a bicycle, and how to change watch batteries. I'm going to get out my nifty knitter and start another hat. I like to carry a project with me to keep my hands busy when I'm waiting. I'm wearing one of my Christmas gifts: a red t-shirt with a white silhouette of a chow chow, and Vader lettered across it. My daughter ordered it special, and I love it.
After a nice, long thunderstorm last night, it was sunny and nearly warm today. We had a shingle blow off the roof, so now we need to find someone to do a repair. I'm sure it's an easy fix; it's getting up there that's the problem.

Here are a few pics from our Christmas. Hope I did the spoiler right. I don't want to take up a whole lot of room on the page.

Skim read some of the pages, but there are too many to comment on.
Heather/Mary: Condolences for your sad losses. Especially poignant at this time of year.
Family visitors went home today. We had a lovely walk on the beach on Boxing Day. We missed our local Boxing Day Swimmers as we were later than usual. Then we went to see Spider-Man at the cinema. Tomorrow I will have to get some fresh produce for the weekend.
Hope everyone had a joyous Christmas.

I am on your page. It takes so long to get everything out that I do not start to take things down until Epiphany too. I get most indoor down by MLK day here. Outside lights stay out until the end of January. It tends to be cold and dark here so I like leaving outside lights out longer. At the end of the season last year I got an lighted angel that is praying for the outside. This year I bought the store display of two white doves. I have them by the angel and they look perfect there. The angel and birds stand right by the steps to our front door.
Margaret
Way back when, I did deliveries for Canada Post for a little while, and I really appreciated the people who left their lights and things up throughout December and January. My deliveries were usually late afternoon as it was getting dark, and seeing the lights just brightened my day.

M – when is Australia Day? I’m shooting to get all the decorations down and put away before we go to FL. Hope it happens
January 26th ... but because it's a Saturday this year, we'll get the next Monday off instead.
I have often ended up taking the decorations down that weekend because I've got a bit of time to do it. Last year, I took a summer course, and didn't get my decorations down until early Feb.

Good evening. I’m new here and will try to be a regular. I see there are some Brits in the group, some Americans too?
I’m trying to motivate myself to get back into an active lifestyle; since hitting my mid fifties I’ve lost my desire to exercise. I’ve put on about 35 pounds and feel very much out of shape. I know all the right things to do and don’t do them. 🥺 Now I’m approaching mid sixties and want to head off avoidable serious medical issues.

Heather and Machka: What is Boxing Day?
The holiday day after Christmas. We usually get part of the 24th, the 25th and the 26th off.
According to Wikipedia ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_Day
"There are competing theories for the origins of the term, none of which are definitive.[2] The Oxford English Dictionary gives the earliest attestations from Britain in the 1830s, defining it as "the first week-day after Christmas-day, observed as a holiday on which post-men, errand-boys, and servants of various kinds expect to receive a Christmas-box".[3]
The term "Christmas-box" dates back to the 17th century, and among other things meant:
A present or gratuity given at Christmas: in Great Britain, usually confined to gratuities given to those who are supposed to have a vague claim upon the donor for services rendered to him as one of the general public by whom they are employed and paid, or as a customer of their legal employer; the undefined theory being that as they have done offices for this person, for which he has not directly paid them, some direct acknowledgement is becoming at Christmas.[4]" ... and there's a lot more about it on that site too.
It's often a day of big sales in the stores ... people even line up overnight in some cases. Boxing Day itself will have the biggest sales, but we've now got Boxing Week too, so there are decent sales all week long.
Cats have, of course, claimed the day too ...

Hi everyone! I just lost my message. ...., boy do I need a wide wide learning curve on how to use this myfitness pal. It's a wonder I found my way back. So many neat nooks and crannies. .. I used this app a few years back, it has definitely changed by leaps and bounds
Took a baby step today and had my burger in a lettuce wrap. Forgot to add my calories in. Moving forward.
Loved the color on the mixer one of my favorite colors. Retro I love retro.
Now I hit post reply and not done😉

Went and got the second dose of the Shringix vaccine. I told Vince to do it earlier but he didn’t. Now we got it when he went on Medicare and it cost $168. It cost $0 for me. Oh well….. Then stopped at WalMart to get a few things. Called Lynette to see if they were coming New Years Eve. She said she was busy with Christmas (?) and didn’t have time to email me. It takes that long to say “we’ll be there”. Oh well. Now deciding on the dinner. It think we’ll have ham (I’m not much of a ham eater), corn, mashed potatoes, I know Lynette likes macaroni & cheese, I’ll make a sweet potato for me and broccoli stir fry. I’ll also make a cheese sauce and have that on the side. For dessert I’ll make an apple pie (I’m going to try it again) I know Vince doesn’t like cheese, so I’ll give the rest of the mac & cheese and cheese sauce to Lynette.
Allie – this blended fruit, do you maybe use the baby fruit?
Rori – what is the diameter of that pizza crust? Someone said it was available at WalMart, going to check. Dillon Ice Castles sounds amazing. Have a great time
Katla – I’m with you on the snakes. If one even comes on the TV, I shut my eyes
If it’s raining tomorrow, I’ll do the Reebok Cardio Tone DVD. I believe they’re calling for rain and I have no desire to go out with my big gym bag in the rain. This is the second time recently this has happened to me.
Beth – so glad you were worried for nothing
Okie – I have a cousin who would get sick at the sight of her menstrual blood. Guess what she became? An OR nurse!!!
I gave Denise an Instant Pot for Christmas. When I go up in May I’m looking forward to making yogurt in it. Wonder how it’ll turn out?
OK, I tried putting the Christmas pictures in a spoiler so that they wouldn’t take up a whole lot of room. Yet, when I clicked on “spoiler” all I got was “hide”. How can I get it so that the pictures show up? What am I doing wrong?

When you post a photo, be sure to use the icon that looks like a landscape rather than the one that looks like a piece of paper. Then the photo will show up.

I am new to trying a community. Have used MFP to record my food for over 420 days now. I am 63 and lost 50# since Dec. 2017, have 20 to go. I have the exercise thing down but the eating is daily work....little emotional eating there. Fighting a cold that my sweet 3 yr old granddaughter passed on. Ha. Look forward to getting to know new friends on this journey together as we head into 2019. I live in Springfield, MO.10

Welcome, I found this thread and MFP at age 62, I've been active ever since and lost weight and kept it off. Being part of a community has been a big part of my successful journey. I hope you will keep coming back. I, too, am suffering from a terrible cold and have been spending a lot of time in bed getting the rest I need to recover.

Thanks, I have heard your name mentioned a lot. I look forward to keeping this weight off. I too am resting. Feel better. I look forward to not doing this alone.😁2

Ditto all you gals who keep Christmas decorations up at least til Epiphany. One year I kept them up 'til Independence Day but I was a single gal living in a studio then...
Heather I covet your retro clock but even more your Kitchen Aid.
Mary great pic of Shep, so very glad you reclaimed him.
Okie Owww!
Rori, NYKaren, KJ and Allie ((hugs))
Rebecca your scooters match Heather's clock and Kitchen Aid!
Beth relieved to hear the vet's favorable diagnosis, hope an rx change will ease the shedding.
Machka, cats' boxing day pics made me laugh out loud! If it were up to me, Everyone would leave their outside lights on at least until the dread Daylight Savings time... preferably 'til the equinox.
Barbie the babies in bed pics.
Gosh Michele, did I count 3 full sized and one table top tree? Wow! The trick with spoiler is to highlight all the links you want to hide, then click the dropdown next to the paragraph sign and select spoiler. Looks like only the first pic in your post was highlit when spoiler was selected. Welcome Michelle in WA, Gale from Tx, jaweeston from Mo!

Michele - loved the photos, beautiful ornaments. I didn't bother much this year, put up the tree and that was about it, but you made it look so Christmassy I will definitely make more of an effort next year!
We are waiting for the hospital to let us know when my dad's medication has arrived. Apparently he's on a rare medication and there's a shortage (in the UK) he's supposed to take SEVEN tablets twice a day. At the moment he seems to be okay without it, but if he can do without it why was he prescribed it in the first place. It's an anti-fungal tablet as he has some sort of bug/infection in his stomach lungs and intestines, the drug has some quite serious side effects too. We can only hope the doctors know what they are doing. He's doing so much better than expected, he even spent sometime downstairs on Christmas Day, we know it can't last though so are taking it a day at a time.
Don't you just love cats, ours would always curl up in the smallest boxes too, mind you, now they have competition because Leah loves to tear up cardboard boxes! She had great fun tearing the box that had her Christmas toys in. She also loves running around playing with her squeaky toys, she doesn't let you trying to watch/listen to the TV spoil her fun! She runs around like a maniac

Michele I'm not Barbie, but...
All of the pictures have to be between the spoiler brackets.
I am going to spell spoiler backwards so I can demonstrate without actually causing a spoiler:
[reliosp] Michele, all of your images have to be placed between the two bracketed commands. [/reliops]
If you are posting a lot of pictures, the first bracketed command will be near the beginning of your post, and the second will be near the end of your post.
Your photos are fun. Is that a Death Star?2 -
Prayers and hugs to those who need them. I am sending out positive vibes to you.
Michele: I had to click on the individual pictures to view. You do like Christmas, lol! Love the collection of lighted buildings. (Later) Found your later post! You're getting there!
Heather: Love your retro look. I aspire to that, but hubster is much more trad!
Rebecca: Love the scooter. We call those figures 'Action Man' in UK.
Barbie: Hope that cold doesn't stick around to long.
Traditionally in the UK, we put our decorations up on Christmas Eve and take them down on Twelfth Night. (6 Jan). I have one of those colour wheel fibre optic trees which I keep up all year round.
Still trying to choose a word for 2019. Perhaps I should just DECIDE 😂😂😂
