klanders30 wrote: »Machka only spent 1.5 hours in the dds chair yesterday to have a temporary crown, I too am hoping that the crown will hold the fractured tooth togther and I won't have to have root canal. I've been with the same dds for 26 years, he is a blessing, very methodical, conservative and sensitive, though he does talk on and on, he is the only dds my DH will go to and his has been severely traumatized in his life with dental problems, so that's saying alot. Here's hoping you don't have to face the root canal either.
The root canal has begun. The tooth has been packed with medication now to take down the inflammation. By Monday, it should be out of pain. I hope.
Then in about 3-4 weeks, we'll do stage 2.
This is the process the dentist who did my very first root canal went through, and that one worked well.
The dentist who did the root canal in the tooth I subsequently lost last year, just went in and filled up about 2/3 of the roots and called it done. She didn't treat the infection and most importantly, she didn't realise my roots were so long. So the bottom third of the tooth was still infected. A few months later that tooth wasn't worth saving.
I was very glad this one seems to be going better.
I hope your procedure works ... sometimes those temporary crowns can last a long time.

cariwaldick wrote: »Machka--Yay for the red shoes! For some reason, I always think shoes in colors have more energy and excitement--and so would I if I wore them. Just curious, how do you pronounce your name? I've been thinking of it with a hard ch sound, but I don't think that's right. I'm glad your dental appointment went well. I had N.O. when I had my braces put in as a kid. It's wonderful stuff. The marathon video worked for me. Great job! You were only a little bit behind those youngsters; you should be proud.
Cari in N. Texas
Machka is pronounced like Match-ka.
Thanks!!
And the youngsters were running the 5K! They set it up so that people from the 5K and half-marathon, and a few full marathon runners all come across roughly together. Then a bit later, the 10K and the slower marathon runners come in together. So there's something happening all the time ... it's organised chaos on the finish line with people cheering, people hugging each other, people handing out the gift bags to all the finishers, and so on for all different distances.
Oh also ... I put on 2 kg in water weight after that run. I could barely bend my knees I was retaining so much water. But I've lost all that now. Thank goodness!

Auntiebk—I love my Withings tracker, I have the old one called Go, but they do not make it anymore, but something like it is $69 (they used to be part of Nokia). I need a new one and I think I will splurge on the new model that’s thinner. I need one that does not go on the wrist, I use my hands too much and it is always inaccurate. Lots of times I wear it on my ankle.0

Lanette: I picked up B3/niacinamide today while I was out running around. I won’t run out soon. I also have biotin. I hope I’m on the right track. I am feeling good these days. You have been a terrific leader in this quest and I appreciate you for it. Thank you.
Rebecca: Your hair trim is excellent and you look great.
Allie: “I'm so blessed. Down almost 10 lbs and my pants are getting baggy.” Way to Go, Allie! Woohoo!!!!
Machka: The photos are wonderful & they make me long for summer. I hope the root canal goes well & you are pain free by Monday.
It is nearly 11 pm & I’m not settling down to go to sleep. I feel like I’ve taken speed, although I haven’t done any such thing. :noway: Part of this is me being pleased with DH’s eye doctor appointment, and the other part is a mystery. I watched a couple of programs about horses and enjoyed them. The second show was the movie about Man of War, the most amazing race horse in the history of American horse racing.

Carol I'm trying for the 2 or 3 tasks per day too, and was doing ok 'til today. [sigh]
Tracey I hear ya about the unemployment rate statistics. Back in Idaho, unemployment was "low"... because people had to work 2 and 3 jobs to make ends meet. Corporations have figured out how to keep people working just under "full time" hours so they don't have to pay overtime or benefits. It stinks!
Pip I could eat that Yogi pup up with a spoon!
Karen in VA Griffin persuaded me. the dog poem.
NYKaren safe travels. Can you hunker down in DC until the ice passes?
Janet Charge 3 thanks!
Cari "they believe a truck fixes everything" yah. Back in Idaho the guys seemed to believe 4 wheel drive on their big pickups was a match for black ice. It isn't. Without studded tires, they just sailed through those 4 way stops. Terrifying.
Lanette congratulations for your graduation. "Queen of Pain" made me laugh out loud. So apt! Me me ME I love puppies! Our Skyes growl, chase, yip and even moan in their sleep. If they seem frightened we slowly stroke them awake then take them up to cuddle.
Allie hooray for baggy pants!
Barbie 135 minutes of line dancing? Fabulous indeed! Would love to see your red mary janes and striped socks.
Beth what a beautiful variety in your "misfit" box. Enjoy!
Kim how can you keep from hugging that cute pooch and waking him/her up? What a sweetie!
Kathy in KY thanks for the Withings tracker and especially the hint about wearing in on the ankle instead of wrist!
Katla ditto your appreciative words to Lanette. I haven't had time to watch all the episodes of real skinny on fat nor of live longer feel better but watched some and found others on YouTube for watching later. Thank you Lanette!
Many thanks, Lighter, lovelies!

My plan is to focus a bit more on cycling in coming weeks to let my right leg heal ... although I discovered today that the mid-root canal tooth + the leg tired me out sooner than I thought it would.
Meanwhile, I've been catching up on other things on my "Things To Do" list.

Up early, calm before the storm here. We pick up the apt key at 10:00, wisk her in to the place and drive north into the storm. We will absolutely hide out in a hotel if the weather turns but DH is resolute to give this a try and I’m keen to be home. Wish us luck!
We had lovely bonding time together in the drive down and dinner last nite-
Beth I think the news and info about dos sounds positive. Hope you enjoy cooking with the misfit harvest-kind of breaks up the routine to cook different foods

Missed a lot, but want to say how much I loved KJ's poem. Your wings are there - angel's wings. IMHO (and you know I am just thinking of you) I think you should find it in you to say NO to the child's mother. Your health is worth more than his need.
I'm low in energy, fighting off the cold, but DH is still bad. I think he has a tad more energy than yesterday. Hoping the antibiotics are getting a grip at last.
This morning I had to go out to the cash machine to find cash for the friend of the glass man who has repaired two things of mine that have been languishing damaged for years. One is a train map in its original frame from an old train carriage and the other is a chrome art deco lamp I got in a jumble sale (like a garage sale). The friend did both for me overnight, very reasonably. Nice to have them in working order. Now I need to find a period glass shade for the lamp, or maybe a trendy filament bulb. ????????
Yesterday I went for my run and took a photo of the sea front. The installation is called Constellation. It represents things that Hove is famous for. Oooops! It's still on my phone. Will do it in a minute.
Because my morning routine was out I didn't get my normal exercises done and also had to buy invalid food. However, I did manage to cycle for over 2 hours on the recumbent bike while I watched catch up tv, so the total, with walking is 500. Pleased with myself for not just giving up.
I also am having to say NO to yet another get together of my 'gurlfriends'. That's the third significant NO this week. We are all going up to York for my friend's 70th and staying in hotels and then they want to get together again a short while later with a plane flight. Once is enough, let alone the expense. York is two long train journeys away. I want to stay at home this spring and enjoy my new city . Haven't heard back from them about my decision. I am a party pooper, but we will have two days together in York.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx4 -
It is bat *kitten* crazy today at work.. but only a little more to go thank goodness..3

CONSTELLATION
In the distance you can see the cream Regency terraces that Brighton and Hove is famous for. The skeleton object in the sea is the remains of the West Pier which burnt down years ago. The tall needle is the i360 that you can go up in a pod.
I LOVE my run.

I think my word for the New Year is BALANCE! And slowing down. I don't know where to start; but, slowing down as best as I can and watching what is ahead of me; not worrying about the past - things I cannot change, even if I could go back and relive it - I'd probably still make the mistakes I did the first time around.
Made up my bed today - what a treat, especially when dealing with a cane instead of my walker; which won't go around the bed.
50th Class Reunion on March 9th; and already another classmate has passed away. I think that is probably 14 or 15 of our 80+/- class. Did not know he had had health issues. Such a surprise. This year, have not been involved in finding people from our class - Kathi did such a good job the last time (which was a 5-year multi-class reunion. I think it is going to be so much better for it to only be 'our' class. It'll be a lot of fun (even if I have to take walker and cane. The couple we have always stayed with have both had health issues. Jack had heart surgical and died about 5 - 7 times on the table and a couple of times when they brought him home. Then Ann was found to have 19 tumors on one of her kidneys. Jack is back in the hospital but they were going to let him come home this weekend for 2 hours. Ann is back at work and the ones who have seen her say 'she looks fabulous'.
Does anyone here have that spray-in foam insulation? Pros and Cons? Does anyone have heater tiles in bathroom, kitchen, or elsewhere in your home? Pros and Cons?
Can't get warm (yesterday it was beautiful outside insofar as sunshine; but, not so much when it came to temperature ... cold. Supposed to get worse later this weekend. Checked my plants on the porch and found that Louis has already watered them. Need to look out and see if the ones outside were put in the greenhouse. Ignoring my plants is something I usually don't do.
Saturday - I can't believe it. Sitting here and binge-watching Bargain Manson, with Carmen Day
Have a great weekend! Was hoping the scar on my head would disappear yesterday when I took my shower; but, it didn't. Oh well, surprisingly I have not picked at it. Last night I had a couple of 'crying jags' before calming down and knowing now isn't the time to go visit Will, Tami, and Mallory. We'll go after hunting season and hopefully, by then I will feel better and won't have to lug my walker there and maybe be almost off the cane. They worked my @$$ off in PT and OT. I had forgotten they told me they were coming.
Gee, I am beginning to think they are never going to cut our trees; much less come out to 'mark' them ones to stay. Oh well ... thinks will work out the way they are supposed to.

Barbie: I love the mental image of you in your red Mary Janes for dancing. It makes me think of good times, and also of Minnie Mouse in her red shoes and matching red bow.
Beth near Buffalo: Your produce looks wonderful. I don’t recognize the yellow and green striped guy just behind the butternut squash. It looks like some sort of squash, but I wonder whether it is similar to zucchini or similar to the butternut. :flowerforyou:
Allie: One of my thrills in the weight loss stage here at MFP was the opportunity to donate clothes that had become too big for me. Enjoy your success!!!
Heather: I love the photo. I am happy for you. You have a great new city, a fabulous beach and the grands close by. WIN!
Lenora: It is good to see you posting more often. We have forced air heat and air conditioning throughout our home. No heater tiles. The air conditioner is having its winter rest
There is fog on the river today, and I heard a fog horn on a ship earlier this morning, but it is quiet now. The quiet is very much appreciated. There were a couple of very long trains across the river in Washington a few days ago and listening to them was highly irritating. The noise went on for hours. Fog horns make me feel cozy at home and safe. Train noise makes me irritable and grumpy.

Karen--Your grandson's writing is very good and made me smile that you got him to do the work and letting him voice how he feels. You are such a Blessing for him.
I am working 10 hours today and then to be off until Thursday. Have several things I want to get done, first is finish the baby blanket for our newest great grandson as doctor said yesterday they figure he will be here before Wednesday.
I am so looking forward to the time off and pray no ones decides to call in.
I am enjoying everyone's answers to the questions. but I am behind so here goes--
1. When you have a tough day, what makes you feel better? Praying and a long tight hug from DH
2. What would you like to celebrate? Getting under 200 pounds
3. What's your biggest wish in life? For my family to be happy and get a long
4. If you were to send a Thank you not to someone, whom would it be? I send Thanks you notes for everything
and can not think of anyone at this time.
5. Who is a good friend to you. My friend Sam has been my best friend since I was 16 and since she had the stroke
last year it has been hard.
6. What small thing did you do recently, that made someone very happy? Last evening we were out to supper with our motorcycle group. We have a young man that is fairly new and he is 18 months sober. So I shared my story and
that I will be sober 13 year April 5th. He said it was nice just talking with someone who would listen and not judge.
7. What's the biggest surprise you have ever had? When I turned 15 some friend gave me a surprise birthday party in the library at school. And they gave me goofy gifts.
8. What color do you most like to wear? It has changed over the years and lately it is purple.
Snow has missed us, but the ice is here for sure. Lots of accidents and people falling. Keeping ER busy.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE5 -

Lenora I have used the spray foam. My caution is be careful not to add too much. It expands more than you think it will. You can always cut off the excess. It works well for a bigger holes you need to fill. Smaller holes I like to use Spackle.
I just noticed you are talking about insulation. We just have the bales. There is a spray foam you can use to fill larger holes. It is better because I do think it insulates better. If you are doing insulation on a home I would hire a professional if you are doing the foam.
I got a scam letter on the property I just bought with my son. They wanted $90 for a document I already paid for at the closing. For me the scary part is they had all the info about this property and made it look very official. Fortunately I was able to look it up on line and find out it was a scam. I did contact my realtor. He did say it was legal to do this but it does not make it right.
It came with an envelope. I wrote shame on you! Scam and placed it in the envelope.
My return address I wrote a bogus address. T. Fume at 1200 Clear Ave
I know it doesn't change anything. It makes me laugh to see them get an envelope they have to open with nothing in it. It does make me Fume too. Unfortunately this scamming makes it hard for legit business because they have to overcome the distrust of potential clients.

Still having to fend off my girlfriends. I replied even more firmly tonight saying I simply couldn't afford it, apart from being too busy in my new home. I'm seeing them once in April. That's enough. Train tickets, two nights in a hotel. Meals out. Ouch! Can't do any more than that.
I've cancelled etch. next week. Neither of us are in the mood for posh eating. DH seems to be a bit brighter, but I am struggling with incubating this virus. Just want to hunker down.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx6 -
(((Heather))): Tell your friends you and DH have a virus and you don't want to share. Peter Rabbit's mom recommends Chamomile tea. So do I, but I also really love peppermint tea. I hope you and DH feel better soon. :flowerforyou:
