What is an exercise hack that helps you get through a workout?
While walking, I really enjoy listening to audiobooks. While swimming laps, I just get bored and keep going.

I'm in, too! I am a bariatric surgery patient, 3 yrs out, and have been struggling to lose the remaining 50 lbs for about 3 yrs. Any support I can get is welcome!5

You all seem to be positive and encouraging to each other. (I'm in.) I enjoy reading your posts. I find myself taking 2 steps forward then 10 steps back which starts the negative thinking playing again and I find myself in my old eating patterns. This cycle has gone on my entire life and I want to break free from the negative bond I have with food. I want to view food as fuel to make me a healthier version of myself. I've gone thru eating disorder years when I weighed 100 lbs (I'm 5'7") to where I am now which is 60 lbs over weight. I look forward to being part of a group that will help make 2019 different from the rest.
Welcome. We all struggle in different ways...we are here to cheer you on!3 -

I keep a spreadsheet. Yep, I'm one of those, lol. I like filling in the blanks.
I read the forums if I'm on the treadmill.3 -

Don’t let it undermine a whole day or days.....it was one meal. Just get back on track! You got this0 -
@teriseaton and @poscur - I agree, one meal doesn't ruin a diet. There was some research a little while back (can't remember when) but it found that a lot of diets fail because of "fatalism". That is "oh I went over my calories a bit so I might as well eat that cake now" or "I went over once, so my diet is finished." Where as "naturally" thin people think oh I over ate - better be really careful tomorrow to compensate. When we can change our all or nothing thinking is when we get the win.
Today will be a better day.

I'm in! I'll be 54 in Sept! I have 40/50 lbs I need gone before then. I say...Fit before 54.
I need some friends to help keep me on track!7 -
@PartyPerson It's a new day!!! I managed to stay within my calories yesterday despite the 7 layer burrito!! LOL
@Guy6583 I would like to drop 30 before my family reunion in July. Really more, but I will kudos myself with being 30 down. This time it's going to be FOR GOOD!!!5 -
It's a new day; what is everyone's challenge for today? I am terrible at meal planning and do not have anything planned for dinner tonight. Lack of planning is where I get in to trouble because then I eat what is quick and easy.0

Hi Everyone
This seems like a great group! I’m in Colorado and the yo-yo Queen👑! Ok, time to shed another 25-30 for good.3 -
solieco1- where in Colorado? I'm in Saguache County! Let's do this!1
-
Hello all, I’m 54 and restarting here for about my 10th time, I been at this for 12 days and have stayed on course.
My goal is to keep tracking for the entire year. I always start good for a couple months and for lack of a better word, I got cocky and slowly get derailed. I’m going to be in it for the long run this time!7 -

Hello Coloradoans! I'm up the hill from you, @solieco1 ! I'm in Florissant. <waving>0 -
Hi all, I'm in! I enjoy these groups with interaction from the "older" folks. I'm 56, but most days don't feel it -- been on MFP since 2012, and though I only want to lose a few lbs./maintain -- I've let exercise slide a bit lately so I'm getting back at it!4

Hello everyone else from Colorfull (Brisk!) Colorado3

Struggling with negative thoughts a bit this morning - this is what happens when you're functioning on too little sleep I guess. So my target today is to celebrate 1 success and 1 thing of beauty each waking hour. So success erm, someone else loaded the dishwasher last night so I can make breakfast easily. Thing of beauty...the frost in the garden makes it look like christmas.7

I had 2 challenges today. I had a conference with a working lunch and the restaurant they chose had no items that would fit in my diet... not even salads. I brought 2 power bars and blueberries and just drank a diet coke.
Then I had to go back to work for a community barbeque and open house for our families. Again, I was able to only eat the low calorie meal I brought and avoid the hamburgers, potato salad, chips and cookies.
Why does all social and work events have to center around food?
Knowing tomorrow is my weigh in helped me be strong.2 -

Hey there-
Lets start a support group for men and women in their 50s that are going to make changes in 2019! I need the help and am starting today! Role Call! Who is in?
Jay in Atlanta
Count me in. I'll be 53 next month. I've been on here 982 days with reasonable success. Never thought counting steps mattered, but now I have an App on my phone, it gives me the added incentive to go for a walk if I see the day ending without reaching my target.
See above - my first new thing for the year. Steep flight of 110 steps. Went 4 times up and down. Calf muscles still telling the story two days later. Want to do this twice a week.
10 -
My weekly check in:
Starting weight: 1/4/19: 149.5
1/11/19: 147
1/18/19: 144.4
1/25/19: 143.1
My loss this week was 1.3 pounds. My goal is 1.5, so I was close.
I eat about 1100 calories all week so I could eat an extra 1200 calories on Saturday. I bounced up over a pound after my big calorie day, and spent most of the week re-losing. I was really discouraged and was kicking myself for eating those calories, though I supposed to. But when the whole week was over I did lose weight. I have to trust the math and science of this diet and stop worrying.
Total loss is 6.4 pounds for 3 weeks. 13.6 to go6 -
OK! 3 weeks in and I am making progress my friends. So I am down about 9 pounds in 3 weeks and I have been by no means perfect or miserable. Just need to get better each week. I am at 257 and when I hit 250 I am going to get a personal trainer and ramp up the exercise. Thanks for all the encouragement and for your friendship!6

@TonyB0558 I think those steps would kill me - are there at least some Sherpas half way up or a base camp? Great achievement!
@LynnJ9 Brill result - keep it up
Welcome to anyone I've missed, been a tricky day today and so I'm off to bed for a bit. Wake me up in a week or so.0
