Do you drink diet soda?

The fattest friend I ever had drank diet soda all day and night.
What is your point? I never understood what people mean when they say things like this.
Personal point of view on drinking diet pop, from a fat persons experience who has drank diet pop all of her adult life(which is a lot of years). I would have been even fatter drinking the same amount of regular pop. Drinking diet pop doesn’t make you fat, eating more calories than your body burns consistently does.

I have drank diet soda for years like 10+ years and I am very over weight and diabetic , over 14 months ago I went on a keto diet and I have lost 109 pounds and I have not drank diet soda all that time , just a week ago I tried to drink a coke zero , my favorite , and it made my stomach hurt also next morning my blood sugar was higher , I learned a huge lesson, I am back to drinking lots of water , I will have tea and coffee , no sweeteners , and I will always live like this from now on , diet soda is just as bad as real sugar filled soda . so do your sugar levels a favor and your tummy a favor , and don't drink the stuff !!19

Yup. It's tasty and calorie free. I don't buy into the "OMG IT IS SO BAD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'RE GONNA DIE!!" mentality.7

I used to drink tab, Fresca, diet Hansen’s but now I rarely drink them because I find they don’t quench my thirst like water. I do also drink crystal light.1

Yep! All day every day! A&W Diet Root Beer is my go to. (J/K. Not really all day every day, but I'm not opposed to it) Since doing intermittent fasting and Keto, it's calms my sweet tooth cravings. Before someone says something negative about this, my doctor is aware and though not healthy, it is less of a danger in comparison to the weight I've lost.1

I drink over 9 cups of water and I love it, but Diet Pepsi is also a part of my daily food intake: a bit for lunch, and a bit for dinner. I am fully aware it isn't good™ for me, but it feels like a very small indulgence as compared to other calorie-dense foods, and it keeps me sane after struggling with past eating disorders.
OP, if you are worried about diet pop hindering your weight loss, know that - just as some people have mentioned already - I have never had trouble losing weight while drinking it.2 -

You can't get fat off a (nearly) zero calorie drink.
Soda isn't crap. There isn't anything in it that is poisonous. The hyperbole is strong in this one.
*sips my Coke Zero
Heh. One of the strongest, most muscle-dense and badass women I know drinks diet soda.
Hmmm, wazzername . . . Q-something . . . Q-S-something . . . give a li'l ol' lady time . . . I'll think of it . . . . .

I drink water or unsweetened ice tea generally, but I will happily indulge in a Coke Zero. I don't like the taste of most sodas, it just tastes "generically sweet", but there's something about Coke Zero I really do enjoy. I'll also mix kombucha with seltzer water for a nice alternative fizz. (I do like the sour zing.)1

Diet A&W is my go to right now as well. Def crushes any sweet cravings I have. Also, pour it into a glass with a little ice and add a tablespoon of heavy cream and mix. Tastes like a melted root beer float!4 -
yes on weekends. diet A&W or Diet Doctor Pepper0

@tmpecus78 This is a game changer for me! Great tip! I have 1 bottle of diet A&W and a pint of cream in my refrigerator right now. Guess what I’m having for a snack today?
Thanks!

No. It's poison in a can and you have the pleasure to pay a corporation to slowly kill yourself! It's like smoking in that regard. Weird chemicals, etc. This goes for all soda - diet or regular.32

Exactly what 'weird chemicals' are in soda - diet or otherwise?7 -

Could you post some science to back up that claim please? What is in "all soda" that is slowly killing us and makes it like smoking? Thanks!10 -

More hyperbole.
It's not poison.
Diet soda curbs my sweet tooth in the afternoon, which helps me maintain my calorie deficit.

All things in moderation!!! Moonshine and ginger ale is my lil cheat!! Haha and I must have a Dr. Pepper now and again!! But daily I drink 13 cups of water and 3 cups of sweet tea!!!
In what way is it bad?
The artificial sweeteners in it is not a nutrient that your body knows how to metabolize - it confuses the body. Besides the fact that there are chemicals in them that are toxic. I've heard medical professionals refer to soda as poison.

I hear you. I love creamsicles too......sigh.....I’m convinced.0 -
Nope, no diet soda, limited regular soda. I get wanting an alternative if you're a serial soda drinker, but I've only ever had it sporadically, so I find it better just to cut it out altogether. I've read things about artificial sweeteners being almost as bad as sugar. They may or not be true considering the ever-changing nature of nutrition 'facts' but I figure best not to take the chance in this case.16

I have always been an avid soda drinker...having switched to diet in the past 2 years. I wish I liked water but I don't so I tend to almost always have a can of diet soda with my meals.0
