Just looking to join now. 42 from central California and Im -5lbs into a 30lb goal. Can use all the support and motivation I can get.
Does anyone use peloton? I’ve been working out at home with the app and love it but could use some tips or suggestions on how to maximize my calorie burn in under an hour a day. Is it best to focus on strength training or cardio?

I too am in Central California (near Atwater)

Checking in to the cool kids club!
  • Hey friends. I wanna join the cool kids club! I’m 40+ and feeling it. I’m not able to lose weight as quickly as I have in the past. MFP suggests that I stay around 1200 calories for weightloss but my weight isn’t dropping as fast as it used to. If you have experienced this and have any advice, suggestions, or support, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I’d like to join “where the cool kids are”. I’m 42 and have a lot of weight to lose. Like many, I have stress in my life caused by situations I can’t control. I’m just getting started on a lifestyle change that has made me realize that changing my thinking and how I handle my emotions are just as important as eating healthy and making physical changes.

Exactly what I'm dealing with - I cannot seem to lose more than .5-1 lb a week, it makes no difference if I'm super strict of cheat a bit. It has slowing been coming off, but I swear in my 20s & 30s I could drop 5 lbs in 2 weeks with little effort.

“Brute Force Operator Series Alpha 2!” 60#!! Still a b!tch! LOL! I took about a 25 minute rest after MAX:30 today. Was the only way I’d have made it. Took that last set right to the end...though I didn’t have to break up any sets today. Gonna feel this for the rest of the day.

For some reason I decided to pick up weekend hiking/walking this summer.

We did 11.5 km on Saturday, 14.5 km on Sunday!

Today is a cardio day - I skipped my weights on Monday b/c my hip flexors were sore from the long walks. I should not skip weights, but I did. I will do ‘em on Friday.

Hi, 42 with 30-40 lbs to lose. I'm thankful it's not 100 lbs but at this point it feels like it might as well be. It seems losing weight is def getting harder with age :)

Impressive indeed! I am wannabe ironman, but have run a few marathons. I am trying to get back into the running zone, but there seems to be many issues holding me back. I blame everything on aging and menopause.

47 year old here. I've been logging for around 3 months - 25 pounds lost so far. I'm aiming for another 7 or so.

I went bouldering yesterday. My arms may start working again later today... I've exercised for 6 days on the trot, so today will be a rest day.

Welcome, @LisaLubarsky88 . Good to have another endurance junkie in the group. :)

@sdereski, Nothing like a little multisport training to cure your running blues, lol. It has been shown to delay signs of aging, but I can't speak to the impact on menopause. ;)

I am grateful that God is blessing me with self control and knowledge of what to do to lose 2lbs weekly. I am struggling to keep my carb intake low, but I will keep working on that. I am not rushing weight loss like I have done in the past. For me slow and steady is working. I am focused on portion control, eating in moderation, 15 minutes of cardio (I will gradually increase), but most importantly keeping my mind focused on living an obedient life to God and strengthening my relationship with Jesus Christ.
