I’d love to that for Kevin and the group. I am imbedded in school work through the 18th. If someone wants to get it started (and finished), I suggest perhaps taking the one from Dennis and creating a copy, then times can be adjusted. What day and time is the tribute race?
Here is a renamed files to piggy back off of if anyone wants to chip at it. Usually this is a group effort, so unless someone wants to own it, I suggest you have a look if you are inclined to help. If you want to own it, just let us know.

@Scott6255 Yeah. He mentioned at the beginning of this month in answering the question about how we were doing with this year's goals that his remaining major goal for this year was the New York marathon in November as his injury stopped him running Boston.
Can I suggest as an idea that we do a 24 hour relay on the day of the New York marathon to honour him?
I think this is a great idea. I thought of his plan for NYC marathon right away too.
I'm pretty sure I will have a race that day too, but regardless would love to dedicate some running and honor Kevin and his part in this group.
I agree this is a great idea and will certainly participate.
Me too. I have my first HM scheduled that day.3 -

@Elise4270 awesome, I was hoping you would know how it worked! I'm jotting names at the moment of those who are interested, it isn't for months yet so we have plenty of time to sort all the slots out etc nearer the date.
I have 16 names on my list at the moment (although I'm not sure I know who everyone is on Facebook so may have doubled up there!) I think at least three of us will be running HMs that day so (if the others are as slow as I am) that's a good 6-7.5 hours covered already!

Don't post often, but generally will speed read this thread to keep up with what I don't visually see on Strava. Saddened by the passing of @MobyCarp. Re a tribute, I am running the NYC Marathon "virtually" this year as part of a guarantee entry into running the actual NYC marathon in 2020. It can be anytime during that weekend and currently too far in advance to plan, but would imagine I would try and run either Saturday or Sunday dependent on my schedule. If it works out, would like to participate.10 -
I will download the spread sheet and get it started and everyone who wants to participate can sign up. We can worry about time when it gets closer in late October/November. The actual race is November 3rd so we will have to organize in October and I think all the date/times should be US EST to match the race.

I'd love to have some great words that would help ease the passing of @MobyCarp. I got nothing.
I had an extra rest day this weekend, since we hosted a party. I ate too much and drank too much and there's still party food lying around, so it's ongoing. I meant to run 7 miles today, but I think I have some dust from the Haunted Ghost Pepper chips in my lungs, or something, so breathing felt bad, even though I felt like I was getting plenty of air - if that makes any sense... I called it at 5 miles and looked at my data - Fitbit says I managed to keep 96% of the run in "Cardio" instead of half of it being in "Peak". I was doing a pretty good job of holding the pace within a couple of seconds of an 11 minute mile. Tomorrow is another day.
No More Than 120 Miles
.........
July 15 - 5 miles
Total: 48 miles7 -

It might be good to start a separate thread too.
ETA. Sorry.. not being bossy. I’m a little behind schedule and have made no progress today with reviewing for tomorrow’s exam, dd needs Word help, dental cleaning and work/doc documents and misc errands. @kevaasen ‘s post made me think of sorting it from this one. He’s good with google docs too. 😉
ETA again. Thanks @shanaber. Hope that dog bite is healing up well. Seems like it was a traumatic event.6 -
out of curiousity. where did he get his name from. mobycarp, not kevin0

I haven't posted in a few months but I saw the post on Strava about @MobyCarp and it's just hard to wrap my head around. I never met him and I didn't even knew his name was Kevin but I still felt like I "knew" him from his posts and great advice. He will definitely be missed.
I would love to be added to the list for the tribute run to honor him.3 -
Count me in for a tribute run too - I didn't sleep well last night just thinking about @mobycarp and a life ended too soon. I've been scouring the web for local events to honour him on November 3rd but it may be easier to do my usual Sunday long run by myself.3

I have been awol for months due to ....stuff, but am always lurking and "liking" and "hugging".....and am deeply saddened by the loss of "our" MobyCarp and would be honored to participate in a memorial relay.8

I have wondered this as well.
I will definitely participate. I don't have anything scheduled yet, but Sunday's are my usual long run day so I will likely be running by myself that day.0 -

I don't know either, but being curious, I searched the MFP forums re "Mobycarp", didn't find anything specific to his user name. That said, saw a few interesting threads from his posts and replies.
Glad he chose to stick around per his original quote from one of his first notes of "I may or may not stick around; if I do, it will likely be for an active running community" He certainly made it active both physically and virtually. FYI - this from 9/2015 and in some of the links (not posted), I saw many of you that are still making this an active community as well!

My final post (I am way over my quota for 2019)
I just received this email from Strava. They are awarding 5 free NYC marathons for 2019. Based on the T&C's and the eligibility requirements, it is for US residents only and they are really gearing it towards 1st time marathoners and those that have a 1000 word or less compelling story might be selected
SO - my idea is this
1) Anyone from MFP looking to run their first NYC Marathon??
2) if yes, I know each of us has a story, but a collective story and perhaps one around this community including @MobyCarp and many others, etc might compel a winning entry over all of the others that might be just as powerful on why people chose to run.
3) I am not a content creator, only the idea maker.....so perhaps if there is someone that wants to run their first marathon and as a group project, the group could craft an inspirational essay that just outshines the best.

Come to kerikeri for the half on the 17th. Running together we will do a marathon for Kevin, 2 weeks late lol
Oh you already have something that day I think.
I've just discovered that the taranaki around the mountain relay is that weekend. I'd already decided I was keen to do it. Now I KNOW I'm going to. I'll try put a couple of stages together to hopefully do a full marathon that day.4 -
