Karen Happy Birthday :flowerforyou:
Machka I try to clear out my browser about once a week. If I do a lot of browsing in a short amount of time I will set clearing at one hour. I noticed I have fewer targeted ads and it helps with some other sites I use frequently in that they work better and are faster. On Chromebook you go to more tools to do this function. If I miss the week I clear out a month. The disadvantage is you need to login into sites you that you do not always log out of. An example for me is the library. I always log off anything financial and remove it from my heading too when I am done. My son also put a malware program on my computer that lets me now if the site has many cookies. This one has 8 which is moderate. The library has 1. If a site has more than 20 I get off quickly and clear my browser after being on the site.
I look at it as brushing my teeth for my computer. A way to keep it working better with little extra work.
We had our AC maintained yesterday by a great technician. I always ask questions and check in when we have work done. Doing this helped me catch that when they installed our AC (it is a ductless system) They did not cap off the conduits that the piping for the system went through. We could see that mice on the outside of the conduit were chewing on the insulation. Who knows what they were doing to the inside. I was periodically hearing what I thought were mice in the walls. Now I think they were in this conduit. I filled these openings with steel wool and that should now solve the problem.
After what we have gone through in the past three months I like to stop and prevent problems before they occur.

Another HOT day here. So happy to work inside. Not doing much if anything outside.
DSIL is still hanging on, her birthday is tomorrow so we will see.
Take care and remember we are in this together and can do anything

Workaholic50 your “feels like” has been our real yelp this past week. We don’t have the humidity so our fells like is what the temp says! Still hot!!!
Doctors whatever ever happened to the primary doc doing his job? Used to be one doc took care of everything and did a good job at it! Nowadays everyone is a specialist! More time and money we patients have to lose! And takes longer to get treated! That’s my digestive issues right now! I actually found a diagnosis that all my symptoms match. Seems like the docs today only use the computer to diagnose. I’m going to bring this fact up to my doc next week! I’m frustrated with them too!

Matches thanks for the info! I’ve figured out a workaround today for the Parse error and the SSO not responding errors I’ve been getting too.
Evelyn getting old is not for everyone! But we ladies here in this group have got this!

Heard this on the radio today. Thought you all might remember it: (speaking of aging).
“Well, we're big rock singers
We got golden fingers
And we're loved everywhere we go (that sounds like us)
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth
At ten-thousand dollars a show (right)
We take all kinds of pills that give us all kind of thrills
But the thrill we've never known
Is the thrill that'll gitcha when you get your picture
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone
want to see my picture on the cover
(Stone)Wanna buy five copies for my mother (yes)
(Stone)Wanna see my smilin' face
On the cover of the Rollin' Stone (that's a very very good idea)
I got a freaky ole lady name a cocaine Katy
Who embroideries on my jeans
I got my poor ole grey haired daddy
Drivin' my limousine
Now it's all designed to blow our minds
But our minds won't really be blown”4 -
KarenVA: Happy Birthday 🎈🎁🍰 Your grand-daughter radiates confidence and beauty, like her grandma.
Pool workout is done for today. There was an older resident there, who was clearly over-medicated. He should not have been in the hot tub or pool alone, so my friend and I had to watch him like a hawk. We got him a noodle so he could float more comfortably. Silently thanking universe that DH and I don't have anything that requires us to take daily Rx.
Off to Home Depot to get some bath decorating ideas, and parts to replace flapper in toilet. My first time...😮
Vicki: Super hot and dry here, too.
Everyone take good care. We can do this.

rori, YouTube videos are your friend when it comes to DIY repairing.
Beth, no lupus is good news indeed. You were due for some of that.
Hang in there, Allie. The right job will come along.

After DDIL picked up Bea we strolled off to the Fish Market. (They have two boats and an EU quota) Bought some locally caught brill (expensive, but so worth it) Also picked up fish soup, blinis, faux caviar for the store cupboard.
Strolled home along the seafront and bought asparagus from the deli round the corner.
For dinner had the brill, asparagus and home oven fries. Wonderful.
We also called in on our local butcher to buy chipolatas, chorizo sausage and chopped goat meat. I'm going to enertain the previous nanny to lunch with the kids in August. She is back from Dubai on a break. Really like her. Also having son over to dinner when DDIL goes away to her parents for a few days with the kids, leaving him alone. I am planning snails and then goat curry.
For the nanny I am planning spinach and feta rolls (already in the freezer) with chorizo sausage and rice, lentil and quinoa salad mix ( part made) and green salad. Chipolatas for the kids with 'cheesy baps'.
Will buy the cheesy baps tomorrow. I like to plan ahead and it comes the day after my school year reunion so won't be able to prepare.
I have an amazing homemade mango sorbet in the freezer which I hope will serve for both occasions. I make a 'dust' with lime zest, sugar and mint to sprinkle over and a squeeze of lime juice.

I am enjoying everyone's posts! The posts on surgeries ring true here. I have had several surgeries in the past 10 years and have had lots of trouble with scar tissue.
KarenVA - Happiest of birthdays!!
MFP was working so poorly for me yesterday, too. I gave up on logging until today. It kept losing my info and rebooting.
Sorry so many people are so warm today!! I am lucky enough to be in the mountains, and although our feels like temp is in the 90s, we are fortunate to be cooler than so many areas.
I just had a delicious strawberry protein shake! I make it extra thick so it tastes like ice cream. Frozen strawberries, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and vanilla whey protein. A real treat on this warm afternoon!
Have a fabulous day!

My line dance class was cancelled today because there was no water in the Elk's Club where we dance. Something is wrong with the well or pump and the technician can't come until this afternoon. It was sad to not be able to dance. There is Bingo in the afternoon that usually nets the Elk's over a thousand dollars and there are many RV's using their RV park. It will be worse for them. I have contact information so I can find out if the well and pump are repaired so my class can meet tomorrow.
I used my "extra" time wisely by doing some paperwork and riding the exercise bike while watching a TV show that's on my personal list. Jake had a friend visiting and they were outside on the patio.
jennietm, My experience has been that the longer I stay with nutrition dense foods, the less I crave the binge foods and foods with less nutrition. Hang in there.
Luci, Your protein shake sounds a perfect meal.

MFP was totally wacko this afternoon. It kept saying I needed to log in...Duh! I was logged in. Finally seems to be back to normal.

Sue... good news about your eyes!
Ladies ... thanks! I agree that NO Lupus is good news.
Karen VA ... Happy Birthday!
Went to a belated birthday lunch with two friends at a lakeshore restaurant. Always enjoy sitting near the water. Lunch was so-so. I'm becoming a food snob!
Getting ready for hot weather here too. When did we start gauging heat with the index? Isn't 105 hot enough without saying it's "real feel" is 115? It reminds me of windchill temperatures here in the north. Hot is hot and cold is cold!! Enough already.

Did the Biggest Loser Power Sculpt DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to take the water class.
Vince talked yesterday about cutting the grass today. I bet we do. We’re having a pool party for the Newcomers next Saturday. Planning to make “bowling pins” as a decoration. The “alley” will be a yoga mat, the “bumpers” will be pool noodles, the “ball” will be a small beach ball, the “pins” will be empty soda bottles with a red stripe and the inside will be a drop of white paint mixed with water. The guy who is co-hosting is a chemist so he told me how to do it, actually…he’s going to do it. We’re planning to have a sort-of pool party just for the families on my block. I can tell that Vince for whatever reason isn’t crazy about the idea. Why, I don’t know. He keeps coming up with every excuse why we shouldn’t have it. I just think it would be nice to get to know all the new neighbors – there are three of them. I really would like to do it for the entire neighborhood, but there is no way we can handle it ourselves with all those people. Maybe next year if I can find someone to help us. The one lady who used to help with the neighborhood picnic they had many years ago isn’t interested at all in helping. She just wants to come and enjoy herself. That’s what she told me. She told me that I should just invite certain people and no one will find out or get hurt. Not true. I found out and, honestly, I was a bit hurt that I wasn’t included. The second time this happened, I decided it wasn’t worth it to be hurt.
Soup kitchen tomorrow
Suebdew – so glad your eyes are OK
Karen in VA – happy birthday. Another 39th birthday, huh?
Jennie – you rock not going to the store!
Cut the grass today. While I was weedwacking it started to rain. Unfortunately, it just made it more humid. I certainly can stand it, but I’m sure the native NCarolineans are up in arms.
Don’t know why, but I’m yawning so much today.

Margaret That's so neat that you got to see Big Boy 4014! I wonder if Vicki GI or Meg in Omaha will get to see it.
Heather I'm currently working 2 days/week, going down to 1 day/week soon. I think I will try to hang in there until next fall (2020), when I will have 30 years with the company. There is a financial incentive to do that, and I am fortunate that my company will allow me to cut my hours but still keep the clock ticking on the 30 years. They don't have to do that. My partner is still working full time until the end of 2021. She wants to retire sooner, but her retirement benefits will be significantly affected if she leaves sooner than planned. So if I keep working 1-2 days per week it helps keep peace between us about that. This fall will be very busy, as I will be learning coach for my grandson again, and when Lilliana Belle arrives in October, it won't be long before we are involved in her care a couple of afternoons a week. Juggle juggle. Something you are familiar with.
I've had a good birthday! I spent the day doing things with my partner, and it's been very low key & pleasant. We started off with Eggs Benedict at a diner. Then some necessary Home Depot shopping. Later, we went to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to see "A Return to the Grand Tour: Micromosaic Jewels from the Collection of Elizabeth Locke" (see photos below). On the way home we picked up watermelon mojito smoothies from Tropical Smoothie & a cupcake for each of us from Smallcakes (rare treats both). Also brought home a box of 4 doggie cupcakes. One of our pups really liked his cupcake. We watched the news, and my partner has gone off to get horizontal. To top it off, my Facebook birthday fundraiser for our local neighborhood nonprofit swim team reached its goal today! I am now sitting in the family room enjoying a thunderstorm. I am very content. Grateful that the dogs are not nervous with the weather. Farley used to be so afraid of the sounds of storms, but the 3 dogs we have left are easily reassured.
Here are some photos of the micromosaics. I loved them. They are very small. For example, the butterfly mosaics are each less than 2 inches in diameter. The rooster is perhaps 2" x 3". Magnifying glasses were provided so we could look at them in detail.
