Meg, The only time I have ever used paper plates in my own home was when we were in an RV park and had to make the water in the tank last for a week. Connie in KY The book is called "Killer Gourmet". It is one in a long series by G.A. McKevett about a woman from Georgia raised with her many siblings by her Granny. She is now a private investigator in Southern California. I love mysteries with interesting women investigators. 3 -

Hi ladies!
Went shopping today, and with my estimation of $88, it came to $81. I rock! I buy 7 dinners, breakfast chives for Lee and I, and lunches for us. The dinners are for the 3 of us, but all other meals are just us two. Son isn't a breakfast eater, and would rather just buy lunch if he gets time to eat it. Poor son had quite the rough week. Starting on Sunday when he took his scooter to a cat meet. They had a burn out competition, and he said the track was slick so he slid out from his scooter. Tore his knees up a bit, but I think only his pride was brused. He then worked from 12 noon to 12 midnight working gate guard, then normal up at 5am home by 4 pm. He's so hard on his body, working on helicopters, he is always scraped up. So tonight I made him ham fried rice. Love via his belly! Last night I made him cube steak with eggs, toast and tea. I looked about 5 min after I gave him this plate and exclaimed, "where'd your steak go". He smiled big grin and said, "What steak"!
Since I did good with shopping and didn't go over, I treated myself to buying another Stella Artouis beer challis! A gal was selling one on our virtual yard sale site for $5. Since I bought mine thru a "water for women for a year foundation", and it was $36, I thought this was a good deal! Lee drove me, because it was going to her home, and I didn't wanna go alone. She laughed answering her door in a large towel! Crazy lady forgot I was coming. I was just amazed she answered the door like that!
Well I was brave today, while texting my middle sister. She had texted, I would love to come up for a visit. I replied, " when you are healed, non smoking, and not drinking, then you can come for a visit.💖👍 She had disc surgery last week so we had discussed the dangers of using alcohol and taking her pain medicine. I don't mince my words with her, and put everything on the table. She agreed it was something she needs to do. Now, if she is actually not smoking or drinking is between her and her conscience.

These came in the mail today for Kirby. His brother went to an estate sale and had to get these for him. The have the same mother but different dads. Our boy Floyd was named after Kirbys dad. His moms name was Betty. He got these in Indiana where he lives. What are the f&*(^%g chances of getting these coasters with those names on them!!! They are going in the airstream!!

Amazon Prime had the 3-qt instant pot on sale for $39.99, so I got one. I’ve not used my 8-qt to it’s full potential b3cause it is just too big and heavy to fool with for just me and DH. Well, I made steamed corn on the cob in the 3-qt tonight and it was the best corn on the cob we’ve ever had. I can’t wait to try brown rice and quinoa. I am actually in love with this size!5

Anyone here use homesciencetools company in the past couple years? I used to buy for them for my Daughter now needing to buy for JR soon. I checked BBB they have zero complaints still. Their the ones my Daughter kept begging 🥺 for the dissection kits decades ago. $8 shipping but noticed they still sell slides to travel handheld microscopes including Doctor type models to kits. So far buying from companies in the past have been crap shoots! Rocks to bugs you name it. Got a lot of her stuff still but needing things to go with them that have been used up like the brine shrimp eggs!
Downloaded on his eye pad a word phonic game yesterday he has it mastered already so check mark for finding one that caught his attention span! Bought more Chris Ferrie books 📖 since he took to them he own Quantum physics already so buying organic chemistry,Newtonian physics,General Relativity,y Tocket Science. Here’s hoping he likes them too it’s not just the one book only lol 😂 can’t read a 2yr olds mind.

Well we bought cereal for breakfasts for us, bread and Turkey for sandwiches for me. He bought some canned items for his much as $7. I think I had half of the items already on hand. One of the meals is pork chops $2, breaded $2 with scalloped potatoes $3. None of my meals are over $10 for everything.

For some reason, the last few days my eyes have been sore and watery. DS thinks it could be the pollen, but I've not had this problem in previous years. Very odd.
I won a bit of money on the Post Code Lottery and thought I'd like to have a new kitchen, ours is over twenty years old and I felt I wanted to brighten it up a bit. I've arranged for someone to measure it and then I have to go into the showroom where they put it on a computer and give me an idea of what they can do. I'd like to move things about a bit too, but we'll have to see how much it all adds up to (probably more than I have won!) I'll have to ask around to see if any of my friends know a kitchen fitter, the man said it would probably be cheaper than their fitters, I think it's around £1,000+ just to fit the units, without moving washers etc.
I wish I could just move to a new house
My grandson is staying with us for a few weeks (the first time we've been allowed to have him for more than a few days) It's the start of the school holidays, so me and DS have been looking at places to visit, he's at an awkward age now (14 but a very young 14) so we can't get away with taking him to the local park to feed the ducks
I'm sure he'd be happy staying in and playing computer games all day.
Better get on with some work, been spending too long looking at kitchens for ideas and the housework is suffering Viv UK 5 -
Rebecca - well done! I aspire to your frugality, but seldom achieve it. If you ever see the book, "The Complete Tightwad Gazette," at a yard sale, by Amy Dacyczyn, it inspired me through some seriously tight times. It's more about thrift as a viable lifestyle, and she does (did - it's an older book) some amazing things.
And, speaking of NOT frugal, my daughter showed me what she wants for Christmas:
Note - this is some random recipe in the advertisement, not mine. My daughter wants my bread recipe in my handwriting, on a pie plate. Which is charming, and flattering, and will cost me about $100. It's an Etsy shop called Prairie Hills Pottery that can put almost any scanned picture on a piece of white bakeware/serving ware. I'm not sure why she wants a bread recipe on a pie plate, but figure, knowing her, she's going to hang it on a wall, anyway. And I don't bake pies, so don't have a pie recipe!
I do love that girl, and she's so hepped on traditional things like this. Might be the only thing I actually leave to my kids. Weirds me out a little, as I know her, and I know she's got it planned as a family keepsake, so it feels like she's planning for my death. Don't get me wrong, I'll probably do it anyway.
Still weird.
What I do like about it is that I actually have my mother's original recipe, in her handwriting, which I can scan to them, and they can put it on a piece. I've modified her original recipe, so might do both my mother's in her handwriting, and my modified one in mine, and have it put it on a slightly larger dish.
I'll have to save a little cash to make it happen!

katiebug love my 3-Qt IP. I use it quite often, oatmeal, rice, yogurt, broth, apple sauce, steaming veg and making hard boiled eggs to just list a few.

It's Saturday!!
So glad MFP seems to be back on track.
Machka - thank you for sharing your photos and for finding Barbara AHMOD. Even though she's not back on here yet, it's good to know she's trying. We have Windows 7 on all of our PC's, but I refuse to upgrade to 10. Used it a bit at work and now at the MG Plant Clinics and to me, it's not user friendly at all.
I ordered a 10" Fire tablet during the Prime sale, which will cover my birthday and Christmas gifts. Android seems to be a fairly stable OS - I can access a lot of things on my 7" Fire tablet that just get bogged down on this PC. So, PC will be relegated to banking, Word and Excel stuff. New tablet should be here Tuesday.
Amber - I really enjoyed that article about Middle Aged Puberty. Very good - I'd never thought of it like that.
Meg - do all of those shoes still fit?
Do you have a "shoe closet?" I still have a few pairs left that I'm sure I'll never wear now that I'm stuck with orthotics. I totally understand why older gals wear running shoes all the time and to every event. Here I thought they were trying to relive their childhood.... nope, their poor feet hurt. 
And those running shoes are the only comfy shoes they own.
Karen in VA - what a great way to spend your birthday! Those mosaics were fascinating. Does your brother still paint a lot? He is truly gifted!
Heather - cute photo of Bea's show. So neat that you are now living close enough to them to be able to attend functions like that. And, I am envious of the butcher shop/deli! I believe I can smell all of the aromas over here That's one thing I miss about Seattle - there were a few similar shops-in the families for generations (Italian) I'd frequent when I could run around on my lunch hour.
Viv - how exciting for you to have lottery winnings to spend on your kitchen.
So I went to the doctor yesterday to see what's up with the lesion beside/in my belly button. She said it might be a stitch or staple from my surgeries trying to work itself out, she said she's seen that before. She ordered a soft tissue ultrasound to see if anything shows up. If not, I may need a CT scan.

I liked the article too send it to a girlfriend. She had some bad days recently especially at work (Jobs don’t always accommodate our old lady issues with grace but they did sent her home to shower y change clothes). Part of getting older.
Still deciding whether to get JR some stuff now or later from the catalog I ordered.Afraid if they ever close then what? I don’t know any other good ones to buy microscope slides of lungs to arm pit glands . Just hate that I don’t know if they’ve gone down hill over the last decade or still good.
Anyone know any good sites to buy educational items for kids? I’m trying to get JR to a 3rd grade level for kindergarten. Might allow him to skip grades not sure yet .Worked our not skipping for Daughter but things have changed they may not offer high school classes for elementary kids who need stimulation anymore in our town.
