My bad knee is flaring up again. Boo! It did this a couple of weeks ago and then got better. I forwent my run and just hobbled off to the shops. Lamb, spinach and pea curry tonight.
Did my exercises this morning and then some writing. Hooray!
Feel very quiet after the last few days and rather tired. Had a quick nap on the sofa.
Rori - I do believe in the power of the mind, if not necessarily in Reiki etc. When I was working in Mexico for a month in 1993, I met a 'white witch', a young man, who completely cured my painful ankle in a couple of minutes by the power of suggestion. I could not believe it! I wish he was here to sort out my ****** knee.

Being allergic to alcohol/wines/balsamic vinegars I know all the alternatives out there by now.2 -
Thank you Barbie, Machka and Amber for the new thread.
In my “study of one” I learned what my body will and will not tolerate. With significant weight fluctuations throughout the month, I essentially stayed the same weight wise.
August will bring food choices that I know satisfy and nourish me. Chocolate, bread and peanut butter in excessive amounts are apparently not my friends.
My goal is to resume losing one pound per week while maintaining my 19:5 IF lifestyle.

Yesterday after a great texting session with middle sister, I decided to make a group messenger thing. Its called Strong Warrior Norwegian Women, and has my middle sister, her two daughters ,and I on it. I wanted to be able to support my sister in her plan of getting off smoking, and drinking. So far its nice to see both gals ( one is 24 living on her own, and the other is 30, married with her 3 kids and living with my middle sister), just supporting my sister/their mom. Her task yesterday, was to use describing words about herself. I told her to put those words on her mirror, she had chosen: empathic, aware, calm and sexy. My view those words are mostly accurate when she's drinking, but I didn't tell her that. I told the girls and her that that group was a safe space, no disrespecting each other. I think it will help to talk to my sister honestly, and not have to relay it to her daughters off to the side. Everything out in the open, on the table.💖
I need prayers ladies, for my daughter in-law. She went in for surgery at 9 am today for problems arising from delivery back in May. Crystals forming? Poor child has had quite a tough time with having just one ovary from an ectopic pregnancy earlier last year. Much appreciated.💖

Lanette I just heard from my Nurse Practitioner that yes, I had a UTI but the only symptom was kidney pain--he said that was pretty unusual. Anyway the Cipro did the trick and I am finally feeling better. Thank you for checking up with me
Got some lousy news from work that a talented young teacher (only her 2nd year) is leaving my district. Can't say I'm surprised, but certainly disappointed that talented folks are not interested in staying put, guess they are young and mobile and looking for greener pastures. She will no doubt have an amazing career elsewhere. This makes the approaching year a little more unsettled--she was a really fun, talented find and the kids adored her. Ah well, in 4 short years it's gonna be me that's leaving!
Hey, MFP just told me that it is my 4 year anniversary using myfitnesspal. I have stuck around mostly because of this forum, checking in with you ladies is a touchstone in my life. I am grateful for all of you wise, wonderful women.

Thank you for everybody’s kind words about my mom’s diagnosis. She had biopsies done today. We already know it is cancer, but this will let the doctors know our treatment options. She tolerated the procedure well and is home resting. My sister is currently sober and staying with her today. We find out more next week.
Just chilling out the rest of the day.

Connie - ((big hugs)) I'm guessing mom's health right now means your sis being in a hurry to sell the house (if I'm remembering right) will take a back seat - at least until you get a better handle on what's coming?

Hi, I'm new here. Just started using MFP again after a long time. I'm 59 and was diagnosed with diabetes 2 months ago so eating right is critical for me. I am also taking care of my sister who has to eat a very low sodium diet. My 28 y.o. son lives with me, he has mental health issues and has become overweight in the last year. We want to get healthy!!!
My August goals:
Log everyday
Stay within my calorie/national goals
8 glasses of water a day, minimum
Start taking short walks 5 days per week and slowly increase time and distance
STRETCH every dang day no matter what!
Finds some alone time every day to meditate/journal/make a list of all that I am grateful for
Reduce stress by taking care of me and letting go of worry/stress/fear (an ongoing battle every moment of every day)
My life has never been so "challenging" as it is now.
Thanks, Barbie for doing this. I don't normally join things, I'm kind of a loner due to my circumstances, but something led me here for a reason

Sitting at doc office for recheck in cardio Med change and my symptoms. Head symptoms came back today. Hope we can nail the issue. Lightheaded, shakey, sometimes nauseous is no fun! Month of this!

Here it is the first of August already. Thanks Barbie for keeping us on the right track. Cloudy day here with maybe some rain this afernoon and evening. Going over to DS's for supper as today is DGD's 11 birthday.
Allie--Sure hope you can find the ring. I lost one for the same reason and know it when behind a built in trash deal in one of the bathrooms at the hospital and they would have to take part of the wall out to get it. Been several years and I keep thinking if they remodel I will be there.
Connie--Sending prayers and hugs for you and your mom.
Kelly--Sounds like it made DH a little jealous.
Rebecca--Sending prayers and hugs for you, your sister and her daugthers. Giving up drinking is not easy and changing how you think about yourself.
Rita--I hope they can figure out what is going on with you.
My goal for this month is to take it One day at a time and weigh less at the end of the month. Last month was only .9 less but beats more.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE5 -
I think my trend is down for July but not a lot. Too many special occasions and limited exercise. I started to rehab my hip so hope that August will be better. Aiming for 159 by Sept 1, from about 165 now.2

Kelly, every time I get my make-up on and ready to head out the door Jack says No flirting with the old men, I always answer OK I'll only flirt with the young ones. Its become our "ritual".

Welcome Maureen and Barbara So Cal- You are in the right place! Lots of ideas, advice, room to vent and shoulders to cry on, here! Barbiecat is our "mother hen/fearless leader" who wrangles all of us chickies and brings us to each new thread at the beginning of each month. This is August. Remember to bookmark the page by clicking the empty star that is on the same line as the title (it will turn color). We are chatty. Don't feel you need to follow everything closely. During busy times the majority of us skim and comment where we feel moved to do so. You can do this!
Pip- You are so cute! I imagine you as a little firecracker/ball of energy.
Childcare day coming to a close. Kids are still napping, though. I will be heading to the library after the last kid is picked up, then out to get my shopping done for next week. Tim told me to "don't wear anything too tight." I replied that my options are limited as I am overweight and asked if he had a burka for me. lol (he didn't find that funny) I also suggested that he could go shopping with me and we could be like those cute little old couples that like to shop together. I even told him it would be so romantic! He didn't agree with that, (this would not be my top choice either). C'est la vie. KJ4 -
KJ - I've also used the "come with me to the store" strategy. That settles him down lol. Especially when I come home and tell him I ran into Mrs. So and So and she told me all about her husband's bunion surgery and I go into detail. I am mean He turns the TV volume louder, lol.

KJ - That must be us you have seen shopping together. We are really cute.
