Katla - go to your DD’s. Enjoy yourself! You will be glad that you did! You will also make your husband happy that he is not the cause of you not being able to go.

RVRita: I hope your DH’s appointment with the surgeon goes well. Colonoscopies are no fun but they can find trouble in early stages when it can be treated. A clear bill of health is worth the trouble. :flowerforyou:
Heather: Congrats to your DH and England on the win.
Barbie: Thanks for the wise advice on the trip. You are helping me make hard choices. I wanted my adventure and I will be dumped into airports instead. Clearly, I’m going to have to compromise but I’m not happy about it. :flowerforyou:
Dana in AR: It is good to see you posting!
(((Lanette))) I hope all goes very well with your surgery and healing.
Mary from MN and AZ: Thanks for your encouragement. I don’t have many options. “You can’t always get what you wa-ant . . .” :ohwell:
I want and need to see my grandchildren. I’ve been trying my best to have DH participate, too, but he won’t. I wanted to do the RV road trip for the adventure of it, but DH is clearly not able to spend that many hours in a vehicle at this time. I’m going to make DH find and book the flights, though. (Color me passive-aggressive.)

Katla I’m glad you’re moving towards the visit. And I’m with you on getting DH to help with the flights.
I’m leaning toward a treadmill purchase. Starting the research phase of things. I still gave my gym until the end of September. Got the back lawn mowed and tidied up. Grilled salmon and made fattoush salad with veg and herbs from the garden—only thing I didn’t grow was the red onion!!
Another glorious weather day—feel blessed.

Terri,
The cliff notes version of Sunday basket is that you sort mail as it comes in, trash what needs trashing and put the rest in your Sunday basket. Once a week ( she does Sunday) you go through it, pay the bills and file.
Mine has been known to go past a week, but I always grab the bills out and pay them. It at least corrals the papers to file in one place.

Katla, Since DH will be driving you to the Portland airport and picking you up, it would be a good thing for him to be involved in the decision about what time your flight leaves and returns.2

I think maybe in January I will just buy the place outright and be done with it all.. I dont want to have to deal with more than I need to..
Allie - My Question would be if the $10,000 you put in escrow was for taxes and insurance, or was that put into escrow as earnest money when you bought the condo and it went towards your down payment, closing costs, etc? I think confusion is coming out of escrow being used multiple ways.

Temperature record for the late August Bank Holiday. It wasn't so hot here by the sea, thank goodness. I did extra rowing and cycling indoors while DH went out for a walk. I am watching silly programmes on line and enjoying them while I exercise. I notched up 950 in total for the day.
DH very sweetly organised an al fresco early evening glass or two of rosé. He chilled the wine and got out the chairs and low table. I brought out some olives, so we felt as if we were on holiday. Had a lovely chat.
Fish soup with salmon and prawns for dinner. Last glass of rosé.
Thanks everyone for your input on the word processing. I had never heard of Libreoffice before. Sounds excellent for general use. I think I am going to bite the bullet and buy the one off Word as I am hopeless at adapting to new things and getting my memoir into book form scares me rigid., even though I have done it twice before. Better the devil I know. I will pay for it out of savings. I am a technophobe. I mean terrified. That 'thing' has been in the cupboard for two years. I hardly slept last night worrying about it all. It is not an easy process for me.
Strangely, my DH kind of pooh poohs my fears, but his latest book has come out all wrong in the paperback version. It is truly awful printing. I worry like b...... , and take ages, but the finished version is more than passable. I would not be at all happy if I had produced his effort. I want mine to be as good in design as a conventionally published book.
Glad the bank holiday is over. I can stop hiding away.
A new Midsomer Murders tonight. Apparently a complete load of twaddle, involving cryogenics, but amiable enough tosh.
Perfect bank holiday fodder.
