Machka - Unbelievable! Sounds like the insurance companies are basically saying he's a prisoner until he's off Workers Comp. They need to have some process for making a distinction between an acute injury that has a clear timeline for healing versus a brain injury that is unpredictable. That is ridiculous!

They prefer when people fit into their boxes. But yes, it does feel a little bit as if he is a prisoner. Funny you should post that about 'According to Hoyle,' ... we're required to follow the correct rules and procedures here ... or else.

DH is very annoyed that he can't download photos off his emails onto his Samsung phone. ;) I Googled it for him,but he is not any wiser. I'm sure there must be a way! On my Sony phone it is super easy and on my Samsung tablet also. It looks as if a lot of people have the same problem with their Samsung phones. Do any of you have a Samsung phone and can help?

Much love Heather UK xxxxxxx, who is going to watch a Wallander DVD tonight. :D

What is he trying to do?

If I've received a photo from an email, I download it onto my laptop, then copy it onto my phone.

If I've take a photo with my phone and want to put it into an email, I copy it from the phone onto my laptop, and attach it to the email there.

:) Jake fixed lunch today that was a salad with tomato, spinach, and cucumber from his raised bed garden along with a slice of the whole grain pecan bread that he baked topped with butter and goat cheese. Not especially low calorie but healthy and made with his homemade and homegrown ingredients.

Good morning beautiful ladies 💐💐💐💐!!Just popping in to say happy Friday to all y’all and especially those who actually get a weekend.Weare trying to get Everything situated with daughter and gs as they’re living with us now .Gs starts school Tuesday.Daughter has had almost all of their belongings in her car,but whatever she didn’t,pos has destroyed.2years of birthday and Christmas gifts for gs,that idiot trashed 🤦‍♀️.He kept the baby book and pictures she can Never replace. They are in a storage unit and that goes up for auction in a couple days because he hasn’t paid. The owner of the facility says daughter can pay fee or come to auction (200.00)and try to beg for her things.gtgfnPrayers, hugs, love❤️and tons of gratitude for y’all!!!

Wow Viv! How very exciting - and nerve wracking! I would be in bits too. Can you get a sensible friend/relative to be with you when the fitter comes to estimate? Try to get more than one quote. Don't agree to anything on the spot.
He will probably get people in for the electrics and plumbing. Usually they have 'mates'.
Good luck! I'm sure it will look lovely when it's finished. <3

Going to try to put a few docs etc on my 'new' laptop today. I don't want to get stressed about it as I'm having my BP tested today!

DH still having trouble downloading photos from his email. He is very stubborn and insists it is difficult and complicated. The Web chats I looked at do seem to bear that out. Could it be his email server? I don't know much because my Sony is very easy. Of course, being a man, he doesn't want me to look at it. I suggested he could screenshot the pics, and he looked at me as if I was crazy. He doesn't have the faintest idea how to do that. :s He is completely new to smart phones. Basically he needs to be able to download the pictures I send him by email of the grandchildren. He won't use apps. Grrrrrrrrrr! I suggested WhatsApp, but he won't have it.

I've ordered a new tablet and cover to arrive on Sunday as a very early birthday present from him to me. :drinker: More angst!

Debby Glad to hear your daughter & grandson are living with you after all. I can hardly imagine anyone at a storage unit auction being so heartless that they wouldn't give a mother her child's baby book & baby photos. Does she have to pay to go to the auction or is the $200 the fee that is owed on the storage unit? xoxo

@grandmallie two back-to-back reunions seems like cause for emotion. several of us went to high school reunion for 1st time (35 years) and I felt uneasy around that. I think several of us did. some left really quickly. sorry about the small candy bag.

@cityjaneLondon Heather congratulations on the software download! I didn't even see one-off versions for sale. I have a list w prompts for all my passwords. (not the real passwords)

@Machka9 I agree with @ydailey Yvonne. if it's a long-term thing normal life should kick in IMO. and taking a vacation can help with healing. can main doctor order that he needs time off? in France a common thing is a 2 week "thermal cure" prescribed by doctor. I have the impression that it's sort of a prescribed vacation with a few odd treatments. I have never done one but I am thinking about asking for one. There are still a good many people who have long term work issues : indeed brain issues, or serious emotional issues could be a cause for some, or severe physical handicap. I know if one is on sick leave in France one is supposed to be AT HOME except during certain hours (maybe 2h in morning and 2h in afternoon) or if one has a dr's apt or some other official excuse. I have rarely been on sick leave, maybe 1-2 times for 2 weeks in 30 years, and I didn't get checked up on. I think they may check up very long term sick leave. =(like worker's comp?). But I think one can change bases (go live a month in the country) and tell the dr. don't know about leaving the country.

    @AZTeri2016Teri I love the quilt!!!

Oh, and I am having a bit of a non-scale victory - my undies are getting loose, even if my weight isn't moving much :) Might be time soon to go shopping for new ones!

I weirdly remember in college a girl (not a close friend, but very friendly and informal) who had gone to Italy said something like, "you know when your underwear is getting tight you've gained". So the opposite is surely a good sign.

@ydailey thanks. good luck with staying on track this weekend. you can do it!

@ginnytez Ginny thanks. I did eat the carbs late in the day but they SEEM to make me groggy the NEXT morning. I have no science to back that up; I'm not eating much refined sugar thank goodness. I have to take care about all sorts of joint ache stuff. Sugar...night shades. My carbs were almost entirely in fruit and whole grain crackers or bread. (plus the glass of wine on wed evening). my accupuncturist advises against: tomatoes, dairy products and citrus fruits other than lemons, saying they are all too 'acid -y'. I had some cheese on vacation (light dense option when hiking for protein) but not since. CONGRATULATIONS on being on maintenance. Are you stopping work tomorrow, or your colleague?

@dcolander welcome and GL with the new plan and approach!

I had to skim today as I'm getting online at midday and have to go back out soon.

But I think one can change bases (go live a month in the country) and tell the dr. don't know about leaving the country.

He is off work and has been for almost 18 months ... on worker's comp, not on sick leave. Because he has been on worker's comp for over 12 months, he lost his job. The law allows for that to let employers get on with business. And he's not able to work but, because the insurer has insisted, he is doing a tiny bit of voluntary "work". That's about all he can handle and that exhausts him. Some weeks he's not able to do that.

Nevertheless, he needs to "remain available" for whatever the insurers want him to do or they could end the payments. And if we were to move to another state or country, that would definitely be the end of all payments.

If it were sick leave, it would be a whole different story. But then again, he only had about 40 days of sick leave ... so thank goodness it's not sick leave!! Meanwhile I've been using my sick leave as carer's leave to take him to appointments etc. Thank goodness I'm allowed to do that!!

So ... we try to make the best of it.

One of the things I'm doing is focusing on my Master's Degree. If I pour myself into the degree, I won't have the time to travel anyway.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned it, but I've signed up for a spring/summer course with the Antarctic and Marine college that will run from mid-November until early Feb. That'll keep me busy over the summer!!

Having all the exercise equipment ... the little gym we've set up ... also helps. I can just go downstairs and workout any day of the week. And I've got my choice of activity ... so if I don't feel like cycling, I can row or walk.

I slept very badly and was of a negative disposition last night. Anyone have late night negative thoughts?

I remember when I was in my 20s this very bubbly outgoing girl our age was saying how she always had dark thoughts first thing in the morning when she awoke, as if that was a normal thing for most people.

I am not a morning person at all. I've never been a morning person. So yes, my thoughts first thing in the morning are usually a bit dark ... along the lines of ... "You've GOT to be kidding. It can't be morning already." or "AAAAHHHHRRRRRGGGGG" or maybe simply "Nooooooooooooo".

I don't usually perk up until about 10:30 am or so after a tall glass of water and one or two strong coffees.

    COMPUTER PROBLEM!
my computer seems to either have a virus or be hacked.it's been doing all sorts of weird things for the past days. I'm able to get around it so far, sometimes by rebooting. I ran Avira on it and no virus or suspect file was detected. I don't know what to do.

maybe I need to bring it to a specialist?

it s a Mac so specialists are fewer or more expensive, though there are certainly several around.

    ARMS AND SHOULDERS
I did mostly arm shoulder and a little core work at the gym again today. anything with left leg seems to cause slight pain in knee with meniscus tear. I'm taking it easy on the left limb till I see a specialist.
so I did some crunches and lots of shoulder and arms and a bit of abs.

one part -I think its the biceps- is super-weak. I can barely do 3 sets of 5 with minimum weight (5k).

other parts are ok. I'm using very little weight but at least can do 3 sets of 10 repetitions on each machine. there are several. I used about 8 or so today, plus some stretches and crunches.

my right shoulder is peachy: strongish, flexible and pain-free. my left shoulder is stiff and not strong and with some pain after sets. about 9 years ago I was in Germany on vacation and got a short massage (maybe 15 min). The guy, who seemed very competent and professional, said my left shoulder was extremely knotted and he seemed concerned, almost alarmed like it needed a LOT of work. I haven't had much pain in it recently though so haven't worried much.

Have to go to another dr apt this afternoon. sort of a formality. not in the mood.will try to be in good spirits and not grouch w doctor.it's not his fault. he's nice enough.

Machka So who is Thomas Oppong? He seems to make a lot of sense. I like the article you linked. Curious about his credentials & education...do you know any more about him? I've never heard of him.

Karen VA ~ Congrats on doing so well on your test. Had to look it up and saw that it has to do with pediatric nursing.

Karen NY ~ Can't wait to hear about your venture.

Julie ~ Cats wandering in restaurants. Folks here wold be calling the health department. Looks like that cat wants to be your friend.

Windows 10 keep wanting to update my computer. I found directions on how to stop the updates and have tried it. The last time it updated, my computer acted bonky and I had to use a restore point.

Happy Friday and Good Thoughts to All!

I've no idea who he is. A lot of what's in that article is a repeat or, possibly more accurately, a summary of many things I've read before. I've read lists of these ideas and more, but this is a good collection of ideas which he has fleshed out a bit more than I've usually seen ... and he has done some research.
