Allie So sorry you had an accident! Hope you don't get too sore. It can really set in over the first few days. I'm glad you felt relief from Tylenol, but if you are able to take ibuprofen it will help more since it reduces inflammation!
Ginny I can't get my hopes up about The Game...I get physically ill over it after 50+ years (I started going to the games at 12). If I just assume we won't win, it will be a wonderful surprise if we do. Ha ha!

Leaving tomorrow for the mediation scheduled in Alaska. I'm apprehensive but trying to stay hopeful. I want/need this case to be settled. My husband will turn 79 in November and 69 for me in December. We'd like to settle this case before we die. :-). Have preparation early this week and then mediation Friday, Oct 11 and continuing on Sunday Oct 13 if necessary. I'm already looking forward to being home on the 15th. Life takes strange turns and this conflict with my brother and cousin is right up there at the top of surprise turns. The old saying "whatever doesn't kill us, makes us stronger" is a weird saying but think there is truth in it.

Luci – just let me know when you’re ready to meet, and I’ll be there! Now I prefer hi-cut undies too. And I usually get all cotton, mainly because it’s better at absorbing the sweat
Got my cover for my tablet. Even tho twice the manufacturer said it would not fit, it does. Boy, did I slam the manufacturer in my review. You’d think he’d be familiar or at least willing to look into new technology but NOOOO
Carol GA --- (((HUGS))))
Beth – your son’s carvings of the bears are so cute. Personally, I’m not too crazy about the pumpkins. I bet his Christmas trees are adorable, too.
Rebecca – you always have my mouth watering
Allie – so glad no one was hurt, but it’s still a pain in the ……..
M – yes, I must have the Snip and Sketch since that’s what I see (the stuff about it moving) What I was wondering is if I could copy JUST ONE of the foods in what is a meal (like just the veggies). I would like to be able to copy it from the diary (I think there’s a tab called “meals” or something like that). I’ve bookmarked the page about the Snipping tool since I don’t have time right now to really go thru it but I’d like to
We just set up my new phone. I should be getting the case for it tomorrow.

I don't think Snipping Tool has ended yet. If you see that message, you've opened Snipping Tool and can use it. Click New, draw a box around what you want to copy and there you are!
Anyway, you're asking if you can copy one of the choices under Lunch (or Dinner or Breakfast or Snacks) to the next day? Is that right?
In the example below (which I've captured with Snipping Tool), I've got three things under Lunch.
The answer is ... "No". I cannot copy just one to tomorrow.
However, I can copy all three, and then quickly delete the other two. For some reason my work computer does not show the little red delete dots, but they are there.
I do that quite often with my dinner. Veggies are almost always the same, but the other portion of my dinner will change. So I'll copy both items, and then delete the one I don't want and replace it with something I do want.

Sharon in the Past Cool story. I have heard other stories from the time where boys left home at 14. I even knew a fellow who won a medal for courage in WWII who enlisted at 14. Lied about his age, obviously, but I don't know how he fooled them because he was a little guy even after he was a mature man! But, he was definitely emotionally mature far beyond his years.1

Undies - all I have ever worn are old lady cotton briefs! I’ve tried other styles, and I’m just not comfortable with the fit. I’ve lost 70 lbs and my underwear has only gone down one size. I can still keep the old ones on my hips, but they’re too long in the crotch and the legs are too big. I’m almost ready to go down another size, but not quite. I’m sure all that is TMI!
My mom is doing well, but she didn’t seem very hungry this weekend. She ate well tonight to make up for it. Even my sister noticed how poor her appetite was this weekend.
My daughter and I will visit University of Louisville Monday afternoon. I’d like for her to visit three or four more schools then narrow her choices.
Rained all day...finally! First really good rain that we have had since June!

Hi Gals,
I took the day off from work today, not something I do often – I did answer calls and texts but no gardening and no embroidery machines! I went apple picking with friends! Apples have been a wild thing at my house. A neighbor left about 30 lbs of Jonathon apples on my porch (in response to yes I’d love a few), another friend brought me 3 of a variety he is creating, my Mom is bringing 4 large shopping bags of granny smith apples next weekend. And I had this invite for today, I picked just ½ of a 5 gallon bucket of apples. It was at a heirloom orchard in a regional park, so 168 trees, 160 varieties of apples. I have 2-6 of each of 10-15 varieties, and I’ll NEVER be able to tell them apart. I picked mostly smallish apples so I can take one or two in my lunch each day. The Jonathan and the Granny Smith are great for cooking, apple sauce and for dehydrating.
I felt like my kitchen was consumed with apples when I got home so went through the bag of Jonathan’s and took out the ones with a dent, hole or other yuckie… and made 2 apple cakes. It’s an easy moist cake that I make cut into squares and freeze in groups of 4-6 pieces – you pull it out of the freezer set on a plate before cooking dinner and by the time dinner is done it’s ready to serve. There is an icing, but after making it the first time I decided it was to sweet, so don’t make it anymore.
Rebecca this might be an ok fill in for your dream cake.
Apple Cake
4 cups diced apples (I don’t peel mine, but you could – it’s about 4 big apples)
3 cups all purpose flour
1 ¾ cup sugar (white granulated or brown)
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
A dash of nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup oil (a neutral oil)
2 eggs
Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl, add oil, then the eggs, then the apple beating after each addition ( I do this with my mixer) . Pour into a greased and floured 9”x13” pan, pat it down to have it spread out evenly in the pan. Bake at 325 for 1 hour 15 minutes.
Icing if you want it…
¾ cube of butter (3 ounces)
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon corn syrup
½ cup buttermilk
1 cup white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved and there is no grainy or gritty feel to the icing if rubbed between your fingers.
While the cake is still warm prick the cake all over then carefully pour the icing over the cake. It will soak in.
Clothing Shopping – as far as I am concerned the thinner I am the less of a bummer shopping is but I don’t expect to ever enjoy it. But I love being outside not in a store.
Machka – the survey was easy. The best kind.
Michele – cute cookies
I read everything and am cheering each of you on, sending hugs where needed!

Hmm, where shall I begin, eh? Inspiration is a good starting point!
Thanks go out to Pip #1 For inspiring me to get a glass of wine before settling down and typing You looked so relaxed in the pic with the six pack of Bud and it seems the yummiest cocktails are to be found in Tacoma. When I get my car back with the new tranny maybe I should drive there and just chill out
All you other gals, you are also a big inspiration! There's too many of you to name, but from me to you "Keep at it and keep posting!" It really does help to know folks on a similar wave length with health aims Thank you
Amber I've not been to my local farm (yet) this fall, but your harvest photos were sure mood inspiring
Debby In Va The kind of work you do sounds very fulfilling. Hard, but soul satisfying - is it?
Barbara SOC Happy (belated) Anniversary! 32 years of doing anything is quite an achievement 🎉 and I love your dry humor!
Rebecca What about letting your "fingers do the walking" online at your leisure? Try on things at home in private. If you're just trying things on a return can be made regardless of whether the package has been opened or not! Target has a good array of "big" girl panties along with a size chart. Vanity Fair also.
Romwriter57 As for having the right outerwear, just an FYI - I've bought lots of used items in great condition through eBay, which helps keep costs down. Good luck on your journey, and I am so sorry about your diagnosis. 🙏
Ginger - Why hang on to the other car? If you can afford to give it to your guy/helper, then that's what I would do without any strings attached because (1) I'd never sell or barter a car to someone I knew (in case there were problems later, it might cause comfortableness between us in the future); (2) one can hope that installment payments or barter work would work out fairly, but there's no guarantee, and (3) giving something to someone else in need simply feels good. You asked what other's thought, so tha-thaa, thatt's my $0.02

As to men, in general, I think they're wired differently in some respects, but fundamentally they want the same as we women want. As to the suggestions about the current difficulty that I'm uncomfortable with regarding me and BF, well, I'm pondering things over still . . .

Warning, opinionated comments ahead:
To those fighting depression, I suffered from SAD for many years, and so did my mom. She always called it the wintertime blues. SAD is Seasonal Affective Disorder. It is often part of the lives of people who were born in the longer days of spring & summer. The farther you live from the equator, the more you might be affected by long dark days of winter. I speak from experience. Vitamin D-3 is considered to be the sunshine vitamin. I take a dose every day, and seasonal affective disorder rarely troubles me these days. In the dark days of winter, I sometimes increase my dose of Vitamin D-3. I also have very bright solar temperature light bulbs in all of the rooms in our house. If seasonal depression is a problem in your life, talk to your doctor. D3 may help. Sunlight temperature lightbulbs may help, too. In my opinion, brighter lighting & D3 are a lot easier to deal with than chemical stimulants such as amphetamines.

When I lived in Canada, I used to suffer from SAD ... it usually hit in November. I've always thought of November as dark grey (I think of months in terms of colours).
When I first realised what was going on, someone suggested tanning beds and that's what I did ... about twice a week, I went tanning! Of course, they've banned those things now, but I do miss them I always felt great after.
Later, I was fortunate to live in a place with a great gym complex that included everything!! The treadmills overlooked the swimming pool that was surrounded by plants. There was a good walking track with windows around so that if I got there early in the evening I could see out for a little while. The spin class was in the middle of the walking track so we could look outside (for a while) or watch people walking around the track. There was a climbing wall room, an arena, a gymnastics area, a racket sport area, a small shopping area and with cafe. All sorts of stuff. It was all bright and open and warm, with big plants around, and I could go spend an evening exercising there and forget about winter and darkness for a bit.
Now I experience SAD in July/August. I'm usually OK going into winter because the weather isn't usually too bad through June. It's dark as can be, but not usually pouring rain or howling wind until toward the end of the month. But then winter starts to drag on and on and on and it's dark and chilly and wet and windy and I long for it to end.
I take more Vit D here in Australia than I did in Canada. Possibly helps a bit.
Zwift can help too.

Ginger-thanks for the quitting smoking tips. I am still a victim of that habit. My husband quit after he had a heart stent and never picked them back up but he still said got the urge for them occasionally and would even have dreams where he smoked.
Ginny in Ohio
I have never smoked ... not even one. I'm so allergic to cigarette smoke -- like nausea, dizziness, vomiting -- and one of the worst allergic reactions my allergist had seen when she did the arm prick test. Yet, oddly, I have a recurring dream where I do!! In dreams when I was younger, I would sneak half a cigarette here and there, but in more recent dreams I'm much more open about it and with go through 2 or 3 during the dream. Really weird!!

Good morning beautiful ladies 💐💐!
Rho- I love what I do.Growing up on a farm was hard.My monsters bf would til but we would have to get all the roots and anything He didn’t want in the garden space. Then we had to plant everything in Straight rows.I would get up before 5,take care of the hogs and chickens and everything then pick everything that needed picked then shower and go to school. Then come home and do it all over.School came second to taking care of the animals and crops.I almost hated farming because of him.I guess because it’s not forced on me now,I love it.
We have our own gardens at our home as well as the garden at the farm.It is satisfying to grow everything we can. I’m growing banana trees and pineapples at home.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
Allie - hope you're not too terribly sore after your fender-bender yesterday. The only time I ever had whiplash was when I was hit from behind. When I hit someone else, I had no issues with it. Glad you're OK and your insurance didn't take the hit.
Rebecca - totally get the overwhelmed feeling on choices. And yes, I'm among those who wear the same brand/size forever. But then, eventually, they always decide to discontinue the ones I like, and I end up back in the same spot. At the moment, about half mine fit, a quarter are too large and a quarter are a teensy bit small. I wear them all anyway.
Spoke to my daughter yesterday, and they will leave either Saturday morning or Sunday morning for Georgia (according to whether their unit will let them sign out early) and then the next day, they'll arrive. So we'll see them Sunday evening or Monday evening--but that means they will have driven nine or ten hours the day they get here, so they'll be exhausted. Then they'll be here for "two or three days," which always makes me kind of crazy... I really prefer people know when they're coming and know when they're going. But, I'll take what I can get, and so will they.
Which reminds me, I need to get the air bed blown up for the kid (s). And get the beds made, and get all the blankets out for them, as it's only 49 degrees this morning (9.4 C) and... on and on and on and on and on. And work full-time.
It will be fun to have them here, and we'll be glad when they leave. And it's keeping me distracted from the fact that I invited my new boss to visit my home office on Wednesday, and I need to clean the place up before then. She's a talker... which is fine. It helps to have already told her all the truths I have, but a four-hour meeting is never my idea of fun.
So a busy few weeks ahead. Oh, and two federal grants to get out the door before November.
The holidays are coming, though. And when I decided to stay in my current job, the ten-day break over Christmas was not the smallest consideration.
Off to the gym.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR4 -

Good morning all! Happy Monday! It is a two day work week for me, as I will be traveling to Texas on Wednesday to see my daughter and (hopefully) TWO grandsons. lol We are still waiting on #2 to make his appearance! I got all of the guy's meals prepped for the week (while I am gone). Clothes are packed. I will make eggs for myself tonight and an omelet for Tim (I have all of the omelet stuffings he likes already prepped, so it is just a matter of throwing everything together in the pan).
Then meatloaf and potatoes on Tuesday evening (another bit of leftovers for him to pick at during the week). So...I should just be able to relax this last couple of evenings. I am SO ready for this trip!
Michele- Your owl cookies turned out adorable! Looks like you may have used a different color/flavor dough than mine. And that recipe has been being used by home ec teachers for YEARS (since the 1960s!); so you are not stealing anything from me!
Machka-Your bedroom set up is similar to mine. I sleep in the BED room (a full bed), a dresser and a pack n play. Hubby sleeps on a twin in his office bc our bed in the BEDroom is uncomfortable for him. His clothes, however, are in the closet in the BEDroom (hung with about a half inch between each hanger, like he likes it). My clothes are in the spare room closet. So, I get up early, leave the BEDroom and get dressed in the spare room.
Heather- The angry baby statue made me laugh! lol I have seen that expression more often than I like!
Welcome new girls! Hugs and kisses to all who are injured/ill! Feel better!

You've got to go with what works!!
I value my sleep because I don't get much of it during the week, and my husband needs sleep because he gets so fatigued. Like you, we've set up a workable solution for us.

Hi all,
Janetr - the hair cut is great. Isn't it amazing how a new cut can totally change your look!
Rho - we have a super king size bed which is really two singles pushed together. I always start off there, but often end up in a bed in the guest room!!! Could be restlessness, a cough, whatever. I often read up there. I sleep in ear plugs and sometimes an eye mask if DH is coming to bed later. That way I can leave the light on for him. We hear bathroom each, three tvs, and plenty of rooms to escape to. I could never manage in one bedroom. Even on holiday we try to rent two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Don't know why it is different on the cruise, but we do have a separate living room and twin beds, well separated. I always want twins in hotels, unless they are seven footers!!!!
I am so used to being in charge of our living arrangements, TV, temperature, music, that I couldn't live with anyone who did not comply. My DH can be a bit dense, but he really does try to please me. Even to the extent of learning to dance. (By the way, he really is coming on now)
Oh well, I guess everyone has their red lines. I could never live with either of my sons!!!!!! They would drive me nuts in an instant.
Of course, I try very hard to make my DH happy. We do lots of little things moment by moment to show our love. We are a bit of a honeymoon couple. We must be very annoying.
Love Heather UK XXXXXX6 -
Last night I was sooooo tired from walking. But I still managed two dance sessions, before and after dinner, even though my legs were hurting.
Then the ABBA tribute band were asking people to dance on the stage, so quite a few people went up and bopped around. I just love spotlights, when you can't see anything but the glare. It was all terrific fun. Lots of old ladies dancing around, having the time of their lives. Plus DH.
THE Saga average age is well over 70. Many in their 80s.
Today we took a coach trip to Lillesand. A tiny white painted, wooden village by the sea. The weather was glorious - cold, but brilliant sunshine. We had apple cake and coffee in a charming old hotel with the group and then DH and I wandered around the town choosing which holiday cottage to buy!!!!! :-). It is apparently heaving in the summer, but was very quiet today.
Will post in a minute.
Much love to all, Heather UK XXXXXX5 -

Good morning, lovelies :-)
It's now been two nights in a row that I've gotten good sleep without lights, noise or BF crashing on to the bed and waking me or being subjected to the sounds of his CPAP. He's currently on the sofa (which happens to be comfy, yet quite supportive). I don't mind sleeping on it myself, sometimes. The lack of dialog between us at the moment offers me more opportunities to work on personal aims and, since it's just becoming light out I'm headed for my daily walk then back to the salt mines, I mean the garage to finish cleaning it up/out
Have a Marvelous Monday everyone!

Rita & Luci ~ I too suffer with bouts of depression. Have taken medication all my adult life. A lot of what I go through now is due to a husband who has always shown signs of emotional unstability (he would never acknowledge it). I wear my heart on my sleeve and am very easily hurt.
