So had a rough night last night. Sat in bed, worried about Navy son and picked at my nails, and cuticles. That a from 11 pm to about 1 am. Then slept hard from 1 to about 3 am. Then I worried and silently cried about son until 4:30 am. I was still weepy when I got up, so stayed home from gym. I just mourn for him, his voice, any communication. Its been since April when he last called. Maybe I need therapy. I just don't know.

Rho: It sounds like we have quite a bit in common. Nice!
Barbara: I haven’t tried the dawning alarm clock. I rarely set an alarm unless I have something out of the usual going on. I usually go to bed on the late side and sleep until 7-ish. If I have something early in the morning going on I set an alarm. It doesn’t happen often. :flowerforyou:
Heather: I’m delighted that you had a great cruise and are hoping to do it again.
(((Rebecca))): You were a navy wife and have loads of experience with this. It seems like all the experience in the world isn’t a magic cure for missing someone. Therapy might be a good idea. Does the navy offer something to help moms and other close family members of active duty sailors?
I’m getting ready for my trip. My adventure includes a goal of getting live sourdough starter to my DD in Illinois. Wish me luck! My son says I should put it in ziplock bags and carry it in a pocket. It worked for him. I'll see how it goes.

On the topic of BEDrooms....we have slept in separate beds and rooms for many years! We were not getting the rest we needed and it was effecting our daily lives! Turns out he loves sleeping tucked in tight in a twin bed. I prefer a full size bed. He has the "master" bedroom with the larger closet. He works and needs the space for his suits, dress shirts and pants. He has an extensive collection of footwear! I have a smaller room decorated with all the things I cherish! Having an Aspie husband I have found that having my own space at the end of the day has been a godsend! It works for us!

They call her a Mama’s Girl so guess it’s a macho think with them guys! I text her if she doesn’t for awhile until she answers or says what’s with all the goofy 🙃 gifs !!! Lol 😂
JR learning a lot hyper runs faster
I’m maintaining weight y put Christmas decorations up just need the tree in December. Tested to make sure JR couldn’t get them down! Still sick still on meds still waiting for them to make me feel better. Maybe they gave me placebos lol 😂. Pee still burns like a firecracker but finished the cranberry juice . Now heading to bed. Be back later not reading skimmed a tad just no energy like I usually have .

Dad with dementia knocked his back truck window out mowing the grass sigh* but neighbors had a fire 🔥 burnt down a lot on their property it God soared both houses (car garage to the work equipment they lost 10k plus in a uninsured building (they just moved in hadn’t kicked in yet the poor things)3 -
Jake and I have slept in separate rooms since his health problems began affecting his sleep. I sleep in our bedroom in the king size bed to accommodate the dogs and cat and me. It is our room and our clothes are in the closet and we have all our stuff in the master bath. Jake sleeps in the other bedroom in a queen size bed that we bought recently with the head that can be raised to help him sleep. We are both able to sleep and thus are in much better spirits when we are together most of the day.

Allie You've been through a lot, lately, and you had that fender-bender. Sometimes the body just needs extra rest - physically and mentally. I hope you're feeling real better soon.
Beth near Buffalo Somehow I skipped over the photos of the wood carvings earlier :-o but found them! Wow! Fine woodworking and fancy chainsaw work is not easy. Your nephew has a gift
It was a beautiful, 68' and sunshiny day here in the south end of Portland, Oregon. I ate clean, today, got my flu shot, I'm real close to having the garage clean up/out done and (dum! dum! dum!) my car will be ready for pick up on Wednesday! So all good on the physical front. As for the BF issue another night before deciding/doing anything.

I had trouble sleeping last night. Thought I would sleep really well with the cooler temperatures. We might even get into the 40s tonight. I’m really tired so hopefully, good rest!
My daughter and I visited University of Louisville today. There is not a single scholarship that she will qualify unless she gets at least a 28 on the ACT. Hannah struggles with standardized tests. She has a fantastic GPA with advanced program and advanced placement classes, but may not get a darn thing unless she can do well on the ACT. Western KY has a much better financial package, but she really doesn’t want to leave home. I guess I’ll be borrowing money.
Mom is doing OK, but only wants to eat junk food. Not sure what I’m going to do about that.

Line dancing was on at 9 am, so I enjoyed that. The ship was really pitching in the night, but is a lot smoother now. There is a lecture today that I want to go to, by the founder and director of the new V&A in Dundee.(Google the building - amazing!!!)
The cruise director is singing at midday, so we might go to that.
Feel a bit flat, got to start packing etc.
At some point I want to do some stretches and body weight exercises. DH is in the gym right now.
He is just back. Feels better for a good workout.
I will join the ballroom dancing class after lunch. I think DH is feeling quite proud of himself for the progress he has made this cruise. He can now lead very well in the waltz and OK in a couple of others. Before he reckoned he had two left feet. He is almost beginning to enjoy it. From zero to hero.

Hello one and all.
Lots of goings on here with the group. Our activities cover the full spectrum of events. Positive thoughts and hugs to all.
Lisa – The lily picture is beautiful. A daily walk through the garden, no matter how large or small, is one of life’s great joys. One never knows what beauty may spring up overnight. Your work sounds interesting and rewarding.
NYKaren – Glad to hear you’re on the mend. One of the main ingredients in Zicam is Zinc. I usually just use Zinc lozenges when I am feeling a head cold coming on or are suffering from one and have found no difference between Zicam and straight Zinc. With the Zicam one should toss the bottle after treatment, if using the sprayer, because all of those wonderful germs love to multiply on the applicator.
Heather – Thank you for sharing the pictures and the highlights of your trip. I hope you and DH enjoy your last day on board and are/were able to enjoy the dance class. The last day of a great vacation is always bittersweet.
Michelle – Love the owl cookies. I also admire your control. If I baked as much as you I would weigh 50 pounds more! I simply cannot resist sweet treats.
RV Rita – Biggest of hugs to you. I wish there was something I could say or do to make you feel better.
Beth – I love your nephew’s art. I especially love the bench.
Janetr – Your new look is fabulous.
Allie – Sorry about the fender bender.
Betsie – I hope the mediation is the key to resolving the case. It’s terrible the family cannot come to an agreement. I agree with your statement “whatever doesn’t kill us…”.
Beth – If you were getting different readings on your scale when in the same spot I would suggest a new scale. My old one (25+ years) would give me a different reading every time I stepped upon it. I found myself weighing up to 5 times and taking the heaviest reading. When I bought the new scale at the end of September I did not count the “lost” weight in my September total as it was just the result of the new scale. If you are plateauing it may be time to change things up by increasing/changing your exercise routine or tweaking the diet.
Barbara – Yes, the planks are tough! I have modified the challenge and decided I would do 3, 30-second planks daily until I am not straining and will build up the time from there. I do not want to get discouraged and give up on them since planking seems to target my weak areas (core and arms).
Rebecca – So sorry about your sleepless night(s) worrying about your son. Is there any way you can contact him via email or other means? It may be time to express how it worries you when he does not communicate (even if it’s just a hi – all is well – love you mom) for such long periods of time.
Note – Strong Opinion Regarding Abusive RelationshipsRelationships – We all come with baggage. After living through my mother leaving my father several times before I turned 15, I swore I would never allow a person to have such control over my life. One where I was damned if I stayed or damned if I left. The last time she left him was during an ice storm and we were running through the woods to get away from him (yes, very much like the scene from The Shining). She had $1 in her pocket. She did finally leave him for good and being bi-polar it was not a bed of roses for my brother and me, but she did love us and for that I am thankful. She also always told us we were beautiful, we were smart, and we were worthy of a good life filled with joy. No one should suffer through any type of abuse be it mental or physical. For those of you who are I hope you seek out some type of support and please take my mother’s advice. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, YOU ARE SMART, YOU ARE LOVED, AND YOU DESERVE A LIFE FILLED WITH JOY.
I think I am just about caught up. Hugs to all. Have a great day/afternoon/evening!

I might have made a slight error in judgement.
The plan was to spend this weekend working on Assignment 3 - my last assignment for my current course. I have a presentation on Wednesday and it is due next Friday.
On my list of Things To Do were 2 items - a lot more than 2, but 2 I thought I could take care of today.
1. Take my orthotics back to my podiatrist because they are falling apart! I did that. They say they'll fix them.
2. Take my desk glasses to my optometrist to ask about a set of fine cracks in the coating on the right lens. I've had that before. Years ago I was talked into coating on my glasses, and sure enough, I ended up with a set of fine cracks in it. Took them back, had them redone, fine cracks appeared again, had them redone without coating and didn't have any further problems with cracking. I've refused coating ever since, till this set of glasses. They convinced me that coating has come a long way and that there would be no problems ... but here we are.
They say it often has to do with either heat itself or change of temperature like going out on a chilly day and then into a warm place. There's apparently some contracting and expanding and thus the coating cracks.
So ... they needed my frames this weekend to get the right shape for the new lenses, and I agreed ... and a short time later realised what I had agreed to. I've got a weekend working on Assignment 3 wearing my old desk glasses or my newer full-range progressives. Neither are really good, although I'm finding the old desk glasses marginally better.
In a nutshell, I've agreed to have a raging headache all weekend. Won't that be fun!!
I love it when my logic and reasoning steps out for a coffee at a critical moment.
Machka in Oz
Grrr ... still no glasses. Probably not till tomorrow.
I've been using an old pair of desk glasses. I've got a tension headache, burning eyes, and nausea.
And still I'm trying to work on that presentation!!

Heather, you look amazing and very happy, as does your hubby. Love both pics of you.
SuziQ, thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Machka, hate that feeling of constantly straining to see what I'm working with. Hope your glasses are in tomorrow. Perhaps time to order a spare pair?
Not a good night's sleep, but did get seven hours in the end, as I slept in until 6:30. I look like someone blew my face up with a bicycle pump, so I'm retaining fluids for some reason, possibly too much salt yesterday, combined with being up from midnight to 1 a.m. The exercise helps a lot with sleeping well, and I'm averaging seven hours a night most nights, up from five this time last year.
Taking my one gym day off today, and am going to have to go find my Allie slippers, as the house is actually a little chilly this morning. I do love fall... Time to at least do my stretching, and then get some work done. Laundry's going, hubby's off to work, and Egg's curled up in a corner somewhere after popping out to complain that it was cold.
Love y'all,
Later,
Lisa in AR1
