My dad is doing ok. He is well set up for working from home and my three brothers all live within an hour's drive so are taking turns grocery shopping for my parents every couple of weeks.

Got furloughed today, which is not bad short term as the government is paying 80% of my salary and my company is voluntarily topping up the rest. I've been very stressed trying to work from home while looking after two preschoolers. But of course I'm quite worried for my job longer term. Nothing I can do about it right now, so I'm just going to chill for a few weeks, and do lots of crafts with kids.

I hope it works out! Enjoy your kiddo time!

Things are changing at my job. Found out today that my part at the clinic will be closed until 5/16. That's five weeks..... I get to use what PTO I have and some of my illness bank. Anything over that and they are paying us at 60% of what we make. Our benefits won't lapse and we can sign up for a work pool to help the hospital campuses with screening patients and employees.

They did this at Ballad too, but they furloughed our people and signed them up for unemployment benefits under the CARES Act instead of making them use up their vacation. So far, I am not furloughed since I am in the department that actually collects from insurance companies. We will see how long that lasts. They won't need all of us forever. once we get the old claims worked and paid, some of us will be furloughed as well, but it's hard to say how long.
We had fewer than 150 cases in our service area as of Friday, which is fantastic for slow spread, but I don't know what will happen when things open back up.
    I hate uncertainty...

One of my neighbours who has been going out every day in his car (no he isn't a keyworker) was escorted home by the police this week. And he was back out again yesterday.

Good thing he isn't on this thread, as I'd be breaking the no judgement rule very, very much. If we get stuck in lockdown for the whole summer, I'm blaming him!

@spamarie I wonder if he was ticketed?

There are so many people here treating it as like as usual. Like daily trips to Walmart... this is not the point folks!!!

I am really disappointed in my local government for not imposing stricter regulations and punishments

Almost done with my first week at home for my clinic closing. I have survived so far, but my weight is up for sure. I am trying to find things to occupy my time so I don't sit and watch TV and eat. Things here are strange. The stores are open and most folks are masked up, but they still are going out. I have been making a list and will need to go before long, but I have been trying to limit my trips in to town. I think since we are in an area where we don't see the severity of it, it seems like nothing has changed. For those in the thick of it, they can tell you it's no joke.

How's the distancing working for everyone? Who else is not working currently due to the quarantine?
My outpatient clinic was closed going on two weeks ago now. It's weird being at home all week. I can't say that I have not enjoyed sleeping in. I don't sleep late, I'm naturally an early riser. I can say I was stress eating for a long time and now it's time to put the brakes on. Made myself a schedule to follow so I have some structure in my day. I have been enjoying keeping up with my garden this year. Starting to see some progress and growth. Hope you all are doing well!

I'm working from home. I work from approximately 6:00 to 2:00. Then I do my home workout, and then go outside to walk or jog. I take "breaks" during work hours, where I walk laps through my living room, dining room and kitchen. I'm shooting for 10k steps per day and usually I hit it.

I'm trying not to get into the snacks, but it doesn't always work. I'll be glad if I just maintain my weight through this. I started at 205 on March 30, and was 204 this morning so I am maintaining so far.

I tried Vanilla Bean Halo Top for the first time last night, and it's pretty good! Creamy and vanilla-y. I'm gonna get some diet root beer and have root beer floats!

I may be the only person accidentally losing weight during lockdown. I haven't left home in over three weeks, all my groceries are delivered and as my husband is also home there's no sneaky chocolate! We still eat desserts etc but my mealtimes were never too unhealthy anyway. I should be happy, but I'm so grumpy!!!

My scale broke this morning, on official weigh-in day. I'm not sure what that says about how my quarantine is going!

    Vent:

Dear Pinterest posters and recipe bloggers,

I don’t need you to write a book on how the taste of coconut curry reminds you of your trip to Thailand in 1982.

Just snap a couple pics and give me the recipe.

    Right?!

I don't see the point of trying to eat healthy or low carb when it comes to Chinese food. Everything involves corn starch, sugar, and sweet sauces. If you're going there to order stir fry meat and veggies, save the money, and make it yourself.

I let myself have whatever when we order/eat at the buffet. I don't want to be one of those picky, annoying, special-order people: "no sugar, no corn starch, sauce on the side."

When I go out to eat, I order things that I don't make at home.

    Agreed
When I am at a restaurant, I want to eat something delicious that I can’t make. I can make salad and basic stuff at home.
I also can’t eat at 99% of Italian restaurants cuz yuck compared to my home cooking 😬

Panic buying has set in here in rural north Nottinghamshire, even though covid-19 hasn't and schools are still open. I already had a stash due to my Brexit fears so haven't been to a shop in a week, but rather dreading tomorrow as we're starting to need some fresh stuff and nappies (diapers). It's not so much finding stuff, we'll manage, it's more dealing with PEOPLE!

I don’t know a ton about Brexit. Why did it make you panic buy?

I went to Walmart at 6 am. I was able to get everything on my list except chicken breast. Had to settle for thighs. The store was VERY picked over.

Yup, looked like my local Wal-Mart here too.
Jamaica was just as bad and could not wrap their heads around that it was happening here too, in the ‘developed’ world. Everyone I talked to kept saying ‘no, you don’t understand, you can’t even get toilet paper’.

    A vent...
My dad is in ICU with flu and pneumonia worsened by significant emphysema. Has been there since the 11th. This hospital is 1:30 from my house. My mother is a total hypochondriac. My aunt and I had a bet as to how long it would be before she was in the ER. We missed our bet by 16 hours. She was on her way with chest pains then burped really big x3 and her chest pains miraculously ended immediately. Go figure. I can’t even make this stuff up.

This on top of the corona madness has about done me in.

Also - I picked March to quit drinking. Been dry for going on 15 days.

    Ugh!!! Thanks for listening.

But.... here are a couple adorable baby pics. Silver lining, right???🥰🥰🥰🥰

I was meant to be working from home today while looking after a two year old and four year old. We had a power cut from 9am-4pm so we spent the rather sunny day playing in the garden instead. I've got a lot of hours to somehow make up but I regret NOTHING!

    I love this!
