☃️❄️☃️❄️Welcome to December! ❄️☃️❄️☃️
We've almost made it to the end of the year! One more month and we'll be in 2020! How crazy is that?!?
💙If you're new to this group, we post our weekly and monthly goals and provide support and motivation to each other as we share our triumphs and our struggles. This group is all about accountability!
💙All are welcome and, if you think you belong here, you do! No matter how much you currently weigh or how you measure (or don't measure) your weight, we'd love to hear from you.
💙Victories, both scale and non-scale, are great to hear about, but, conversely, we know that weight loss isn't all sunshine and roses. If you're going through a rough patch, please feel free to be honest and vent your heart out. The struggle is real and we're all here to support each other!
⛄❄️⛄Visiting family, shopping sprees, and schedule changes can make even the most laid back person want to pull their hair out during this time of year. Add special foods, yummy desserts, and holiday parties to the mix and you've got a recipe for stress!
What are some strategies that might be a good idea to put in place or have in the back of your mind when dealing with December? ⛄❄️⛄

I'm in! As I mentioned a few days ago in the November thread, my goal for the holidays will be to maintain my current weight. If I'm able to lose more, that will be a bonus, but I'm not going to stress too much about it since this time of year already has enough going on.11

I’m in! I will post my SW, goals and challenges on the 1st. Thank you @RavenStCloud for starting the December thread!8

Maintain the daily habits that have been working, and keep in mind festive eats later in the day when you're meal planning for the day. Most importantly, don’t worry or obsess! Getting yourself worked up will make it difficult to enjoy the seasonal treats, and for stress eaters that can turn into giving up!
Personally, I know the week before christmas there will be three big eats days at work: Night shift’s potluck, Building 2’s christmas party, and the company-wide christmas dinner on the 19th. I’ve been there long enough to have a good idea of what folks usually bring so I have a couple selections and backups in mind that I know I enjoy and will be able to comfortably work after eating. Outside of work, I’ve been getting a gingerbread latte daily on the way to work since it seems to agree with me metabolically, but otherwise I’ve been surprisingly content exercising restraint toward festive goodies. I suspect the hardest part of the holidays will be maintaining exercise christmas eve through boxing day, and maintaining proper eating habits when in-laws visit (they’re picky and unfortunately are put off when I make my own meals). Going to do my best not to stress on the days I can’t practically manage food and exercise, and the rest of the time keep fighting the good fight!12 -
This is great. Just started today. Current weight 230lbs. I have lost 16 so far and want to get to 199.17

@unstableunicorn Not worrying or stressing is such great advice.
Do what you can and know no one's going to have a perfect month! Enjoy the holidays.8 -

November month was about finding myself and getting back on track. December I want to build on this. I need to continue to find strategies to deal with the medication munchies. Also, I have to remind myself if I do eat a little different as a result of a event, not to freak out at the scale reading the next day. I am one of those people who gain 3 or 4 pounds of water weight after high sodium foods.
Goals
- 204 pounds
- Get 8500 steps Monday to Saturday
- Do 2 workouts a week
- continue to go to bed before getting super drowsy (if I get to drowsy I tend to get the munchies)
Let’s crush December!13 -
In for December! I'll make my final post in the November thread and my first stats post here tomorrow. Looking forward to this month!7
-
Yay, here again! This morning I weighed in at 207.6 so I'm gonna use that as my start point.
I slid just barely into my November goal of 207 despite thinking it was a stretch, so let's just go all out for December:
My December goal is Onederland.
It's a stretch. I'll be happy if I get close. But go big or go home, right?21 -
I'm ready to start it all over again:
Height: 5' 9''
SW: 286.5 (June 3, 2019)
11/30/19: 221.6 lbs
12/7/19:
12/14/19:
12/21/19:
12/28/19:
12/31/19:
GW: 180
Goals for December:
Strength train 3 x week:
5K training 3 x week:
Get 10000 steps a day:
Eat no more than 100 grams of net carbs (Carbs - fiber):
Eat more than 100 grams of protein a day:
Drink 150 oz of water a day:
Log accurately every day:
Lose 8 pounds:
This month I've added a running goal. I'm training to do a 5K in February and I plan to run it. This is really huge for me! I also reduced my weight loss goal from 10 to 8 pounds. I'm finding that now that I'm about 60% of the way to my goal, the weight isn't coming off as quickly. I need to establish stretch goals, but they also need to be realistic.
13 -
woohoo, let's go December!
SW: 263 (5'7.5")
GW: 163
11/30: 211.2
my goal this month is 205 (though 203 would be a nice round 60 lbs for the year...). honestly, I'm just excited to have come so far this year, and I'm getting excited to keep this going in the new year.11 -
I'm in. Just getting back on track due to being sick for a frew weeks leading to gaining a few pounds back. I have a Cruise at the end of December so need to lose a few kg before then. I'm currently 97kg (213 pounds) and would like to be 92kg (202 pounds) by end of month when I go on Cruise. If I get beyond that, it will be a bonus.
SW:97.9kg (215 pounds)
GW: 58 kg (127 pounds)
11/30: 97.3kg (214 pounds)

Hi! Came over from the November group, didn’t have much movement on the scale for November, but I definitely lost some inches.
I plan to take my measurements so I can see the change in that as well.
11/29: 263.5
I’m stuck around that number, but I’m hoping once I incorporate some cardio with my strength training, I will continue to see inches fall off as well as pounds.
Goals:
-Lose 5lbs. I’m setting a smaller number as a goal, so if I don’t meet it, I won’t be discouraged, but if I do, it’ll feel great!
-Continue logging my food accurately and honestly (sometimes I want to lessen amounts to make myself feel better, but w not helpful towards my goal)
-Drink more water
-Hit the gym 3x per week
-and the same goal from November, be kind to myself when I mess up, it doesn’t negate all the progress I’ve had so far.
Good luck to everyone in December! Anyone please feel free to add me, the more motivation the better.9 -

I'm in!! A friend and I are going to be gym bodies starting Monday!
My goal for December is to lose 5 lbs
Stay strong in going to the gym
Up my water
Track intake daily!7 -
Height: 5'6"
SW: 236.4 (9/8)
11/30: 213.3
Dec Goal: 206
December Goals:
- Cardio 5 times a week
- Strength 4 times a week
- Water 96 oz
- Increase protein to 80 grams/day
- Meditation 3 times a week
- Continue intermittent fasting at 8/16
Hi everyone, my goal is to lose 7 lbs by the end of the year and then another 7 to hit onederland by the end of January. It’s going to be a stretch but I am inspired!!
In addition to several holiday parties, I have some travel at the beginning of the month and then my office gym is closing for 6 weeks starting on Dec 16. Fortunately I am taking I’ll be off work from the 21st through the end of the year but I need to find an alternative workout venue for those 6 weeks. I am considering an exercise bike, which I would have to put in the attic. Not ideal but it would be nice to have something in the house for when I can’t get a workout in before going home. Please let me know if you have recommendations for spinning bikes or workout programs you like!
I’d also like to simplify and get myself more organized and focused, hence my mediation goal. It’s a lot to pack in this month with the holiday but I am hoping I can make progress with my time off of work.14 -
**Height 5' 4"
SW: 216.8 (10/10/2019)
CW 12/1: 206.2
Dec GW: 201
Overall GW: 150
Dec Goals:
Cardio/elliptical 5/week
Strength and Yoga 3/week
Water 8c/day
Last month went well so I'm keeping my goals at the same level. It would have been nice to put Onederland as my goal but realistically with the holidays I think that would have been setting me up for failure. I'm not going to do that. Who needs the stress?
So happy to see everyone carrying over to Dec and looking forward to making friends with the new thread members. I've gotten so much encouragement and inspiration from this wonderful group and hope you will too.

December Goal: Anything under 220
GW: 170
My goal for November was to get under 225, and I accomplished that, it's just the Thanksgiving weekend bounce up that is masking it right now. Hoping to get under 220 and lose another 5 pounds in December. It will be rough, because I don't do well during holidays when I'm off my usual schedule.
Other goals -
Exercise at least 3 times a week - I have to do this and I have to be consistent. Every week.
Clean up weekend eating - Pray for me during all the holiday parties and friend get togethers. I am weak.9 -
It's December and I am hoping I can stay on track. Although I didn't see the scale move as much as I would have liked it to in November, it did move. Here are my stats:
Sw 288 End of March 2019.
Cw 225
Gw 144?
Dec Gw 219
I am committing to logging everyday. Drinking at least 90 oz of water. Fit in exercise every day even if I don't feel like it. Some days are a struggle. Also to check in on this thread at least once day! You all are great! Let's rock December!! ❄⛄❄⛄🎄12 -

December won't be easy for me...Never is! I love sweets! My December goals are to log everything I eat, move more daily, and keep going even if there's a hiccup in the road. Good luck, everyone!9 -
I'd like to join in! I'm just getting back to paying attention to my health. Just started last week. I was 293.4 😱 which is the heaviest I've ever been. I'm doing my weigh ins on Mondays so I'll post an update tomorrow.
My goals for Dec are to stay within my calorie goals, walk at least 1 mile per day, and get back into the gym at least 2 days a week. That Planet Fitness membership isn't worth much when it's not used.
Sw - 293.4
Cw - will post tomorrow

Hi,
Thanks for inviting me. I would also like to participate. There will be much stress this month. As women, I think there are many expectations of us at the holidays. I often allow that to overcome me and succumb to emotional eating.
I gained in November !
SW 273 (Aug 2011)
CW 248.5
LW 229 (May 2019)
My goals are to stop the mindless eating and snacking that happens normally after dinner; to sit down at the table and eat instead of hovering over the stove or eating in the car, and to up my step count, which is currently riding around 5k. I am hesitant to put a number on the weight that I hope to lose based on my upward trend since September.
Future weigh ins:

December Goal: Lose 6 pounds
GW: 199lbs
Daily Goals:
1. Log all food (using MFP)
2. Exercise 30 min (captured by Apple watch, walking counts)
3. Meditate daily (~5-10 min using “Stop, Think , Breathe” app)
I had a small loss last month (was larger and then Thanksgiving happened) so I am trying to think about what went wrong the last week to not do the same this month. Hoping I get a nice drop this week to help balance that out. Adding meditation to help ground me and to help me be mindful of my actions.10 -
Welcome to all the new members and hello to everyone joining from the November thread!!
Height: 5'6"
SW (09/08/2019): 239.2 lbs
December SW (12/1): 210.0 lbs
December GW: 202.0 lbs
GW: 150 lbs (then reconsider)
My goals for December are:
- Reach 100 consecutive days logging in MFP
- Cardio for 45-60 min, 5-6 times a week, 3 of the sessions Couch-to-5K workouts
- Advance in the Couch-to-5K plan to Week 2 workouts. I plan to repeat each week of workouts 3 or 4 weeks, depending on how my lower-body joints are holding up
- Core exercises at least 3 times a week
- Lose 3 inches in my measurements
- Lose 8 pounds
- Get out of my hugely overstretched work pants (“clown pants”) into the same pairs of work pants which are only somewhat overstretched. Not my goal to “pants” myself at work or during my commute. But since they’re still hanging on, literally by a thread, I’m going to keep wearing them.
- Take better care of my skin in hopes it will start to regain its shape. Sigh. It is not that much to do and should be easy to make a part of my routine so it pains me personally that I just don’t do this regularly for myself regardless of this goal.
Looking forward to these milestones in December:
- Leaving the 210s behind for good. I’m right on the edge…but have definitely demonstrated that 3-pound fluctuations are still a possibility.
- 100 days of consecutive logging in MFP!
- Including running as a part of my cardio workout for a month. Earlier this summer I was on crutches for a few days until I had 15 mL of water aspirated from my knee. And that is the least of all the orthopedic problems in my lower body. Consistently running and making progress slowly conditions my musculoskeletal system and helps prevent injury long-term!
Not a lot of milestones to look forward to this month, and many challenges to boot with bad weather, parties, and social engagements. Plus my work schedule is going to be irregular for most of the month. I think it’s a lot of nose to the grindstone for me this month to get the job done.
We managed November, we can handle this December! Onward!10 -
Hello everyone, I'm coming on over from the November thread. This has been a great group and I'm excited to continue on with you all into December! I'm feeling a little forlorn this morning because we went away for Thanksgiving and on the actual holiday I did indulge a bit, but I kept things pretty well in check- even heading out for a 5 mile walk/jog that morning followed by taking all the kids for a 2 mile hike to a waterfall. The real downside came in the few days after the holiday, where I ate whatever I wanted Friday while sitting around with family and then yesterday on the road trip home I snacked for much of the 7 hour drive. Tried to let the snacks stand for themselves as meals and avoid eating meals, but as we know junky snacks don't fill you up so I found myself eating those meals anyway.
Anyway, it erased most of the gains I made in November, so it's two steps back for me. I'm going to aim for a little over a 5 lb loss in December. I'm acknowledging the holiday treats and festivity will be difficult, but also hoping a little that the scale will come down a bit over the next few days as I drink water and get back into exercise.

December goal weight: 203
12/6:
12/13:
12/20:
12/27:

Other December goals:
-Continue to exercise 5 days a week, with at least 3 workouts strength training
-Log my food daily
-Spend time outdoors whenever I can, despite the short days I will get outside in some capacity 5 days a week!
-Ride my horse 8 times
Today, I am fighting over a cold so my exercise will be mellow, perhaps a walk with my dogs and some gentle yoga. Have a good day everyone and welcome to December! I am excited for December, I do love the holidays and the coziness that comes with it. Happy for my treadmill though, that I bought a few months ago from a friend who was moving out of town. It makes it easy to move my body even when the weather is dark.
