As usual, I am going to try for 16-20 AF days for the month.
Short month, so this might be challenging.
I had 18AF days for January
Saturday February 1 - AF - Superbowl party tomorrow (yes, we Canadians love it too) so not planning to be AF. I am planning to intersperse glasses of water between drinks, and I have 1 cold no-alcohol beer to take with me to the party.
Running tally - 1AF day out of 1 day so far : - )4 -

Challenging day for a lot of people out there today.
The advertising industry hugely suggests that the only way for us to enjoy the Super Bowl is by being surrounded by alcohol. Most game day watering holes can be found pushing buckets of beers at a Super Bowl low price.(oh boy and some let you keep the bucket 🤔)
My thoughts......make it a time to enjoy friends and a shared interest in a pro sport. Enjoy yourself with the knowledge that knowing the score at the end of each quarter is a bonus. And knowing the score at the end of the game makes YOU a winner as well.
Whatever your plan is for Super Bowl Day, drink responsibility 🏈🍻9 -
I'm flying home from holiday today. Was very tempted to get some wine on the flight but we went for a walk this morning and a paddle in the sea, and as I paddled in gorgeous clear water I realised that my body would prefer water to alcohol today, so I'll try to stick to that.
I will work out a goal for February, but I think it should be 20-24 AF days. One of them was yesterday, and there are two events where I know I will want to drink but other than that I will try to keep it sensible.8 -
Old habit: 1-4 drinks/evening.
Goal: Ease into only drinking on Friday & Saturday! Consistantly be AF 5 days a week.
January outcome- 15 AF / 27 days.
FEB 1- AF 😊 Could have drank, but decided not to! Had 3 drinks the night before & felt like crap in the morning. Decided to pass & feel good today instead!!
1 AF / 1 Days

Happy at home with Super Bowl as background noise, snacks and no alcohol. No triggers, I like being home and I do not like NFL, not even the commercials.7

AF = 1, Drinking = 1 today WILL be my 2nd!
Yay I made it into month 2!
Tricky month for me this with a vacation at the end of the month and lots of business trips/dinners earlier.
I'm going to pledge 15 days AF and hope for the best!
Saturday didn't start out too well as we took some clients to a Hockey game. We started with a 6 course tasting menu with a wine paired to each course, then took them into town for drinks afterwards. That said it was planned so I knew it was coming and the hangover was a great reminder of why I'm doing this
Also it's always great to show the American folks how good the SHL is compared to the NHL
I have another dinner on Thursday but I think I'll try just drinking water. It may raise a few eyebrows but what the heck.7 -
Happy Monday. Checking in
1/2 days AF7 -
Good morning everyone.
My over all less drinking goals for this month are
NOT to drink daily
NOT to drink more than two when I do participate
NOT to drink because of a stressful situation
I do have planned evening events out twice this month. I have already thought how to stretch one craft beer over a several hour period. The other event is a late night birthday surprise party at a reastraunt. Never a good idea to start drinking alcohol after 8:00pm so that will more than likely be a dry night.
Oh and of course Valentines Day......my hubby bought a special bottle of prosecco for this past NYE that I never popped open.. I heard him say that bottle was still in the frig more than once in the past 30 days. 😎
Have a successful week without stress.10 -

You just did! Welcome!3 -
I was tempted to have wine watching the Super Bowl last night, but asked myself “why?” I was all alone (hubby on business trip), I don’t even follow football, so why the big pull to drink? It’s amazing how strong our culture is! Like you can’t possibly enjoy the super bowl unless you’re partying. Kinda fun to turn that on it’s head!7

@LoveyChar the commercials aren’t what they used to be, that’s for sure.5

Happy February! I didn't have any alcohol on Saturday, but did have some wine yesterday evening (and over ate to boot). Not hungover, but still full. Not a fun feeling.
My goal this month is more AF days than not. I was traveling for work last week and I don't think there is anything harder to overcome than eating dinner with coworkers. I gave in, and it wasn't worth it. But it's a new day, a new month and a new time to start fresh. Got my water and coffee with me today!
1/2 AF days for February10 -

I agree. And I agree that it's ridiculous how we can't watch a stupid football game on TV without getting drunk. Husband said last night how boring it was here for the Super Bowl and next year he's inviting people over. Nobody stopped him to begin with. I'm glad you didn't waste your wine on such a goofy "festivity."8 -
A good beginning to this new chapter of drinking less in my life. I have not gone drinking with my buddies after work or after working out. After working out always bothered me. I am cutting way back at home. Not buying a 30 pack of beer to save money. Started buying the 12 pack and making it last longer. Yes it is about the money to.
Yesterday ENJOYED watching the game. Yeah the commercials were lame and have been for many many years. DId take notice of how many alcohol related ones there were, only because someone yesterday mentioned it.

Sorry, long post! This past Saturday I went to the funeral of my husband's aunt. She unfortunately passed away due to alcohol poisoning from a lifetime of heavy drinking. The minister briefly spoke about addiction and how it can ruin lives and while I agree with that, I'm not sure that is something I would put in a speech about a person's life. My husband's family owns a bar, and the dinner after the funeral service was held there, which I think was pretty odd given the circumstances!
I tried my best not to drink myself, but being in a crowded room not knowing too many people, I was filled with my usual anxiety so I caved and had three drinks over the course of the night. I'm not too disappointed that I ruined my 30+ day AF streak because I knew it'd happen at some point. But I didn't even enjoy the drinks that I had! They made me a little nauseous and I was pretty drunk from just those three drinks. People were passing around jello shots and I refused and I was offered several more drinks after that but I was done. My husband, who had at least twice as much to drink as I did wanted to stay longer, but at 11:00, his mom was tired and wanted to leave (we had an hour drive home and she was the DD). We stopped at a gas station because my husband just had to get more beer. He gave me one but I didn't even open it.
Even though I drank I'm kind of proud of myself because I only had three in a situation where I'd normally drink six or eight! And looking ahead to this weekend, I do not want to drink at all.15
