Old habit: 1-4 drinks/evening.
Goal: Ease into only drinking on Friday & Saturday! Consistently be AF 5 days a week.
January outcome- 15 AF / 27 days.

Daily note: Another one bites the dust!! Friday is an "OK" to drink day for me. We are attending my bother in laws fire fighting program completion ceremony this afternoon and then having dinner at their house afterwards. I might have a glass or 2 of wine if offered. If not, it will be another AF day in the bank. Either way, I'm good! Happy Friday everyone!

February continues on, and another 24 hours AF here. For some reason, this week has been really, really, hard. I've wanted a glass of wine every night. It doesn't help that the past two nights, my dinner plans including cooking with wine- and the first night (pot roast) I had to open a bottle of red to use in the recipe. Last night, I made shrimp scampi, and had to open a bottle of white. So I have two open, and mostly full bottles now, and they were tempting me to enjoy them while I cooked.
I'll probably have some wine this weekend, though. I'm still proud of myself for making it through the week.
Feb 1: 2 drinks (2 glasses of wine, birthday hotel weekend away!)
Feb 2: 1 drink (1 glass of champagne, celebrating the fact that I bought my kids a pony).
Feb 3-6: AF (4 days)
So far in Feb: 4/6 AF days10 -

That is really impressive that you resisted! I always enjoy a glass of wine when I cook a proper meal. But a glass while cooking, a glass during dinner, and then I will want another after dinner... that was my bad habit before I started really cutting back through this group and these challenges. I still find it really difficult to limit to just 1 glass if I start before or during dinner.6 -
@WinoGelato yes exactly! One glass while cooking a proper dinner is so lovely, but then it becomes three somehow. Now its Friday and I am contemplating having a glass but undecided still. Tea is good, too. I need to reup my favorite tea, it's the Yogi stress relief kind, it's got Kava in it, and I find it incredibly relaxing, almost as good as wine in the evenings.5

Me too, I'm having the same thoughts right now and it's almost 11 pm. Kava is nice, has so much of the same calming effects alcohol usually does.4 -

As usual, I am going to try for 16-20 AF days for the month.
Short month, so this might be challenging.
I had 18AF days for January
Saturday February 1 - AF - Superbowl party tomorrow (yes, we Canadians love it too) so not planning to be AF. I am planning to intersperse glasses of water between drinks, and I have 1 cold no-alcohol beer to take with me to the party.
Sunday February 2 - Drinks and too much fattening food, but very fun. Shakira and JLo were great!
Monday February 3 - AF - Felt a bit rough this morning until I had my lemon water.
Tuesday February 4 - AF - It is my designated drinks day, but I also am trying to have 2AF days in a row in between, so abstained.
Wednesday February 5 - 3 drinks
Thursday February 6 - AF
Friday Feb 7 - AF - The weight is finally coming down after Superbowl. We have a big event here in town next weekend, Winter Blitzville, the second annual. They close off the downtown and snowmobiles flip in the air over ramps, there are live bands, bbqs on the main street, fireworks etc. Many people will come back and forth from my house over the course of the day and night (I live right downtown) and I will put a giant pot of mulled wine on the stove for people coming and going to use the washroom and warm up a bit. I am going to try for only 2 drink days before then, because I will for sure want to indulge in some Mulled Wine. Guess that I will need to clean my house a bit lol.

@dawnbgethealthy that really sounds like a fun time! And mulled wine sounds great for an event like that. Hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy some without feeling it was too much.
@WinoGelato I enjoy tea as well, but haven’t gotten back in the habit of having it in the evening. I have been drinking it at work during my 2pm slump. I will have to try one with Kava!
I have hit 5/7 days AF for Feb. I am always thrilled when I realize I got over the “hump” of the day without giving in to any type of craving. I went to Target yesterday for a birthday gift, and going to the store has always been a “pick up a bottle/can/box of wine” while there. I had started by getting those smaller single servings of wine whenever I went and having that be it for the evening. I don’t go to these stores that often, maybe once in two weeks, but I was proud leaving the store with just the gift and a bag of dark chocolate covered almonds to eat as a snack this week (lower calories, tasty and satiating). I do find my sodastream co2 cartridge runs out a lot quicker 😂. I may be sightly obsessed with sparkling water.

Feb 2: 5 drinks. Super Bowl Sunday. As you might gather from my username, I LOVE football. And while my team wasn’t in it this year, I love to go out and watch the game( the GAME. Not the commercials. Lol) We do it every year and I knew I’d have drinks. I planned for it and it was a blast. Hoping to abstain most of the rest of the month though!

Doing well so far! (Even though I keep forgetting f ti post!) The week was easy, it’s weekends that are tough for me. I had a major internal dialogue while driving home from work last night about not stopping for alcohol. Friday is usually a day we have a few drinks. I abstained even though there was beer in the house. Pretty proud of that! Thought about “just one” beer last night but then imagined having to post it here and stayed away.
Anyone have any fun weekend plans? We are laying low. We’ve been busy lately and now just planning to relax, catch up on housework and grocery shopping, etc.7 -

Checking in, I'm glad I stayed AF this weekend, it wasn't too difficult but I did get pretty bored. So I got in an extra workout. My husband asked me if I wanted him to go get beer tonight. I said, uh no why would you even ask that! Lol. He knew I did dry January but I guess he thinks I'm going to go right back to my old drinking habits, which I hope to never do again. It takes 7-10 days for alcohol to completely leave your system and I just don't want alcohol constantly swirling around in me anymore. Maybe I'll have a few next weekend. But no more than three! Have a good week, everyone!7

8 - 330ml Belgian beer (11%). We brought some beer back from our new year trip over there and that's the first time I've had one. I think it's only the second alcoholic drink I've had in the house since mid december as most of my drinking these days is when I'm eating out. But I did a 4 hour bike ride yesterday and we have a bad storm forecast for today so I won't be going anywhere - the combination of lots of spare calories and no reason to get up early tempted me!8 -
4 Days AF for me. Got through the weekend ok. Replaced my evening wine with cold infused tea. Drank 5L of water today, have been peeing like a horse.7

Day 4 AF done! 3 glasses of cranberry juice in my wine glass last night. I'm 17 days into my no restaurant-no takeout challenge and I almost caved in on Saturday. Plan for today is AF of course, go for a 5 mile run, Home Depot trip (that's another addiction to be dealt with another time) and watch the Oscars.
I've been trying to distract myself from thinking of wine - over to planning new flavorful and healthy meals and getting more creative with that (area where I need to improve)- also thinking maybe my longer term goal should be to drink max of 2 days per month, planned out in advance. Last year my goal was weekends and vacations, but weekends stretched themselves with Friday night getting added, then some Mondays were national holidays, etc. So 2 days became 4 fast. Then I ran into a 2 week vacation of daily drinking, because, well, it was vacation. This caused me a 12 lb weight gain. I am not going to repeat this in 2020!8 -

That’s a 7 day AF streak for me! I don’t remember the last time that happened. Today is a planned day to have drinks.. but hoping to limit it to a reasonable amount. Husband and I are both off work tomorrow and we’re meeting friends to watch the Oscars tonight. Still on track to hit 25/29, especially since I work next weekend.8 -

4 Days AF so far this month today WILL be number 5 (well I hope so...I'm on a business trip and they don't usually got AF for me.....
Much tougher month compared to last month. Too many work events plus more social occasions so far.
Hey ho I AM still drinking less over all than last year. I DO still want to cut down even more. I WILL find a balance.
