Karen: So sorry about your friend. This dreadful disease steals them from us piece by piece.
Went on a visit to Killyleagh, a picturesque village with it's own castle. We had a guided tour lead by the present owner of the castle. His family have lived in it since the 1600s.
Also got to climb to the top of one of it's towers, which has spectacular views of Strangford Lough. Unfortunately, Storm Dennis was still dumping quite a lot of rain on us, so we didn't get full advantage of our climb up the narrow stone spiral steps inside the tower.
Incidentally, one of our Queen's younger sons, Prince Andrew, is Lord Killyleagh. But, he's out of favour at the moment.
Got lots of lovely steps in walking round the historical sites in the village, despite the heavy rain. There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing. 😂
May those of you suffering find peace and respite. 💕💖💕

Machka: Looking at code would drive me insane. I am always impressed by your determination, skills and abilities.
Kylia: Dark winter was a terrible time for me in years gone by. I need light. We installed solar temp lights everywhere in our house. They are worth every penny spent. They were costly but have very long useful “lifespans,” and end up being less of a drain on electricity. We bought some of these at Costco and others at ACE Hardware in past years.
Heather: I’ll bet anything that your cake will be s huge success. Happy Birthday to Bea.

We have a sunny day with a brisk breeze. We’ve been out and run errands & it is now nice to be cozy and warm back at home. I’ve been rereading a series of books written by a Maine author, Janet Chapman, who passed away from cancer a few years ago. I feel lucky to have kept her books on my shelf. I like to revisit books that I’ve read, and hers are on the list of those that I reread now and then.

I know some of you have this already ... but I'm still working on it. I am only 52 ... I've still got another 20 years to work on it before retirement. But I'm hoping that finishing this degree with enable me to have a bit more of a vacation-like life.

The week is certainly flying by. Work has been busy and diverse. I cannot believe next week is the last one in February!
Michelle – Daytona is always fun for the 500. There is so much to do and see outside of the arena. The last time I had gone I had pit passes. It was great see the cars up close and to watch the pit crews and meet some of the drivers. It was a blast. I finally saw the full crash clip this morning. I have seen my share of live crashes but never anything that extreme. TG for all of the required safety features. I was glad to hear he walked out of the hospital today.
Machka – Beautiful pictures from your Sunday ride.
Heather – I agree. Getting something out certainly gives it less power. I also find it is interesting how I view things at different points in my life. The only thing missing from your fantasy room, for me, is a shampoo station. Every time I get my hair cut/done I think to myself, oh, how I would love to have someone shampoo my hair every day.
Kylia – Your orchids and Christmas cactus are beautiful. Orchids are definitely a test of our patience but always worth the wait.
Barbie – Great quote by Yutang Lin. Great wisdom regarding work stress. Many lifetimes ago a co-worker said to me….”do you see that gate, when I drive through that gate I am like a duck and I just let it roll off my back”. I was in my late 20s and to this day, if I have a particularly bad day at work as I drive out of the parking lot I tell myself be the duck and just let it roll.
Karen – Love the sunset picture and the end to your perfect day.
Beth – I hope you get the hearing aid situation in order. It’s terrible when the “fix” is worse than dealing with the issue.
Sue – Double yay! The roof is getting done. Poor puppy.
Ginny – It must feel very good to get rid of all of those things and getting the pantry organized and cleaned up. And, the gym too! The cleaning was probably a full workout. I love the back splash. You did a great job.
Barbara – Sorry about Joe and his reluctance. I almost think he may have wanted to drive himself so you would not know he did not get it done. I can understand your frustration. May I ask why his father had “the bag”? Was it because he did not take care of himself and then when he finally had to go to the hospital there was no other choice?
Lanette – You’re welcome. I am slowly but surely moving to the Mediterranean Diet. I have book marked the link.
Luci – You sound very excited about your upcoming trips. Funny, I was the driver in the marriage and I would get Charlie in the car (the back seat was prepped with a sheet, pillow, and blanket) at around 3:30 in the morning. He would awaken at around 10 or so. I did this because he always wanted to stop and go to the bathroom and my long distance driving rule is when we stop for gas we get all of our business done, fill up our drinks, grab something to eat and get back on the road. He was fine with it and I was a much happier driver. I am sorry that your situation is due to pain and not being able to get comfortable.

I was very bad this evening. I ran in to the grocery store to pick up a few things and noticed Paczki. I could not resist and bought a box (only 4 to the box – TG). Last year I missed the window – Paczki can only be found here a week or so before Lent. So guess what I had for dinner! Not one but two. Not the smartest thing to do because they are so rich and sugar loaded. I imagine a restless sleep this evening. Work would have been better if I had had a better night sleep. The class did go better than the last time. I did have to be more strict with this class than I like. Unfortunately there were a couple that you give an inch they take a mile.
One little boy had a hard time getting down to gym staying in line and not talking. So I kept him and had him run in place. I said if you have to run I run too. I was able to run 5 minutes he tried to quit after three. I gave him a hard time to keep him running. Margaret 8 -

Amber Funny we have similar stories. I was fortunate to find an OB near the end who was the same age as I and had just had a baby a couple of months before me. She made the last month of my pregnancy and my delivery wonderful! I had kicked my abusive husband out before the baby was born, so I had a friend (who had just had a baby also) for my coach. I went through labor and delivery with two other new Mommies and it was a wonderful experience. 😊

Kim What a lovely party you hosted! The bride and groom are very fortunate you are such a terrific hostess! I am amazed you were able to create a vegan meal! That is tough when making everything from scratch! The dinner area was beautiful, and everyone looks so happy!

Me days Every day is a me day for me. I love watching my dear Grandbaby!! I haven’t been able to work since I was 52. The only thing I don’t like about my time being free every day is that I never seem to get things done that I want done. I am trying to be more active and get more accomplished. So much to do in our house, but I have a tough time getting motivated. I watch way too much tv…hoping to get that under control soon. In a lot of pain most days…mostly left over from my injuries. It sucks, but I sure prefer it to the alternative!!!
We have two trips planned this year. My DH’s 50th high school reunion in KS and a family reunion (my side) in a giant house in FL. Very excited about both trips as we never spend enough time with family and friends. I know we will have a wonderful time (other than the drives which I usually medicate myself for or I squirm around too much from pain). The drives are long and stopping a lot to walk around makes them even longer, so we usually push through. DH prefers it that way, and he is happier if I am semi knocked out so I don’t moan and groan too much.
Michele So happy that Newman is alert and talking! The accident was horrific! I can’t imagine seeing it live!! Must have been awful not knowing if he survived it or not! Jeff Gordon was doing commentary and was visibly shaken while talking about it. It must be those driver’s worst nightmare to be reminded just how dangerous their sport! Luci in WNC – main treatment for thyroid cancer was total removal in 1996. Have had one dose of Radioactive Iodine years ago. The variant I have, Hurthle Cell, is not extremely common. It is also very slow growing. I have had a couple of small tumors removed over the years and a slightly larger surgery (a left central dissection). I take thyroid replacement at a level to suppress any remnant thyroid growth and any left over tumors. After this time they are now switching to monitor any possible impact on heart (a side effect of long term suppression). Very seldom, if ever, would chemo be used for this type. There are some treatments out there with some newer drugs, but I would have to be showing significant metastasis before moving to them. I have come to think of it as my chronic little cancer.
SuziQ-getting rid of the stuff feels terrific! I swear the whole house feels lighter. Don’t know that I have every had proper Paczki (had to google it)-reminds me a bit of jelly filled donuts, but I am sure the dough is better!
Felt somewhat better today. Used saline. Also broke down and took a couple of sudafed today-seems to be helping. Felt good enough for a good workout and extra treadmill time. Will be spending most of tomorrow in meetings. Have to go to an annual business meeting/dinner tomorrow night (thankfully I will be "on the clock" and may get to leave early on Friday. If nothing else, I won't have to take any leave time to see doctor Friday morning and will go in later.
Need to go get some sleep.

Luci B Thinner - Me y Debra y you got similar first pregnancy stories then. We all kicked the jerk to the curb but got wonderful kids that keep our Spirits Soaring.
Miscarriage- I was lucky with that one hubby was the Dad so he still grieves the loss so wasn’t an alone thing like the still birth or birth of Navy Daughter. Been lucky 🍀 to go through 2 with my now hubby. He always wishes my Navy Daughter was his so he could have raised her from birth (her longing to have had the Dad experience through her younger years breaks his heart- she’s his world acts just like him folks assume she’s his is shocked when they find she’s a stepkid not biological .)
Hoping JR sleeps tonight still hormonal mess . Wish if a period was starting it would just show its ugly head get it over with! Impatiently waiting at this point. Hubby think it will start by morning I hope so.
Lackland Airforce base 14min from home 15coronovirus patients also being treated at the hospital we use. They just found out their getting the Americans from the Diamond cruise ship 🚢 that’s been in the news. Masks are bought up already noticing folks panicking already.

I was very bad this evening. I ran in to the grocery store to pick up a few things and noticed Paczki. I could not resist and bought a box (only 4 to the box – TG). Last year I missed the window – Paczki can only be found here a week or so before Lent. So guess what I had for dinner! Not one but two. Not the smartest thing to do because they are so rich and sugar loaded. I imagine a restless sleep this evening. Hi, ladies.
Realized today that what I am missing is social support, and then remembered, wait a minute, MFP has forums, and happy me, I'm well over 50 and this looks like a really nice group. I'm delighted to be here! Little about me- 62 on Monday, work two full time jobs (but cutting back in March). I'm doing well enough on time restricted eating, holding to 800 calories a day, for the time being. I'm following a loose version of Michael Mosley's new plan, but also planning ahead for a WOE that works for me in the long run. I'm a TRE person by nature, so that's what I'll do- how I do it is something I'm giving careful thought to. I need to lose about 10 kilos to get into the normal weight BMI range. Live in lovely, and currently very rainy, Western Sweden, am full-time caregiver to a disabled adult child, and am building a house with my DH. Looking forward to getting to know you all,

ROTFL - It was a hard decision. I can usually find a mixed box, but for some reason the store only had single flavors. I decided I wasn't going to justify they were the least bit healthy and went for the custard versus fruit filled.5 -

Hello, everyone,
Work vent - enter at your own risk:I woke up in a FOUL mood this morning, and realized it's because it's literally my busiest time of year at work, with a grant due tomorrow, a presentation on Monday and then I'll be in other meetings, a number of them hours long, all next week, including having to go into town for a meeting with the new HR manager and tell her what I do. Everyone on this side of the state has to go and sit down and do that same thing, so it's not just me, but it's definitely bad timing.
However, them upstairs have rearranged half the organization again (fourth time since I've been here) in response to a mandate from the national organization which meant a job lost on the west side of Arkansas, which puts all the chickens to clucking and wondering if they're next. No one even wants my job, so I'm not too worried. I'd only lose mine if they decide they want the grant writer to be under their thumb at the central office, so they chuck me overboard and move the job there. They've done weirder things since I've been with the organization. And it must be on my mind, or I wouldn't have brought it up.
And last but far from least, I canNOT get finance off their narrow behinds. (Seriously, skinniest women you ever saw.) Last Friday I sent them an email asking for information I need to file the grant that's due tomorrow. I can't even get them to say "Yes, we got your emails," much less get the information. It's just annoying.
Even more annoying is, the grant isnt actually due until next week Friday, but they don't know that. I've just learned if I give them the real deadline, they drive me into a screaming-meemie, fingernail-biting swivet until they ride in at the very last moment and save the day. I hate that stuff. I guess it's time to ask for read receipts, even though everyone hates them, and they double your own email burden. Grrf.
I don't usually just yearn for Friday, indeed, I'm often surprised that it's got here already, but:
Ah, I feel better now. Sorry for those that read it, just had to say it somewhere. Not doing terribly well with my reframing or script-flipping this morning. No solutions necessary, cross my heart, but I wouldn't turn down a few sympathy votes, or as Mama used to call them, "po' babies." As in, "Po' baby, are people being mean to you?"

Lisa - I absolutely HATE the people that don't acknowledge your request or provide the information until the very last second and then act like a hero when the project gets finished.I work with a VERY small group and every freaking one of them won't give me what I need until I beg, which I won't do, so when the owner asks why it isn't done I say because X, Y or Z didn't provide the information when I sent two requests. I copied you, didn't you notice they didn't respond? Now I take great pleasure in strictly enforcing my reduced work hours to wait a week to respond to their requests. One of the worst offenders called me 30 min after my hours on my one day a week last week. I didn't answer, it was after my work hours. I did respond when I worked my one day this week......and they were busy and didn't get back to me during my limited hours.
