Omgosh! I am over 10 pages behind again! I really miss when I don’t get to read what’s happening with everyone! Here is my distraction:
Heather Thank you…I miss those leg muscles! I was so much stronger! I worked out in the gym 7 days a week, rode my bicycle everywhere, and ran as much as I could. I’m fortunate to be able to fake it with my brain. It takes me a long time to read and write. My conversation struggles even more. I find myself uncomfortable in social situations and would never make it in a work environment. I have wanted to read Dan Harris’ books since I saw an interview with him. I can so relate to his experience with panic attacks. I remember when he had the attack live…was worried he was sick. When he came out with his book, I understood what was happening. I’m so glad people are diminishing the negative reactions to mental health issues!
Oh, Pip! Another heart wrenching puppy pic!! I can’t get over how adorable your dogs were! Just beautiful! (I almost like doggy pics better than babies…but, now that we have the little one and there are such adorable little ones on here…)
Karen My heart is hurting for you as you are losing your friend again to this horrible disease. I struggled for years watching my father transform during the years he suffered and it was still so hard when he died. I’m sure it’s much tougher with a dear friend so young!
Belated birthday wishes, JanetO! Hope you had a wonderful day! I am starting to do a little meditation which I want to get in the habit of doing daily. I ordered a daily email called the DailyOM. They suggest you prepare a peaceful area with items that calm you, maybe burn incense or smudge it to help the quality of air. I regularly pray, so the meditation is added to my prayer time.
Kate Hope your weather improves very soon!
Trying to catch up with everyone! Hugs to All!! Luci in suddenly snow covered WNC

Thanks for the love ladies~this is where I worry as I had Tom to fall back on its just me now...
but I will put it in the lords hands and have resume all set and will keep on truckin5 -
Luci ~ Beautiful Baby Girl!
Lisa ~ I am sorry to hear that your son has decided it's not worth the time and effort to get his education. I think you are wise to not enable him.
Allie ~ Could you possibly use this time between jobs to enroll in some community college classes? A friend of mine taught adult education classes in computer skills at the local university. Just an idea that popped into my head...LOL.
Ginny ~ I feel for your work situation and hope it gets better. Dealing with people you work with can be so frustrating.
SuziQ ~ Glad you were able to have a "ME" day.

Re FRs: I just ignore them unless I know them from somewhere. I do have a few long term male friends here, but generally? No thanks!2
-
Allie: I worry about you giving notice without having a new job lined up. If you quit, you may not qualify for unemployment insurance. Do you have enough in savings to last you for weeks or months? Get a new job lined up and then wave goodbye to the old one. Please think about it.1

KetoneKaren wrote: »Machka I meant to ask you why you stay away from turmeric? Is it because of turmeric's potential effect on blood clotting or something else?
Turmeric was supposed to ease joint pain, but it seemed to make it worse ... especially in my hips and lower back. It had me wondering if I had kidney stones again. It also made my stomach upset. But worst of all, after going a long time without a period, after just a few weeks of turmeric, I had one again. Might have been coincidence, but it does act like oestrogen so it could have messed with my hormones a bit.
M in Oz
Turmeric does the same for me. It made my knees and fingers hurt and swell. I tried it two different times to be sure it was really the turmeric doing it.

Did a pilates DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Leslie Sansone DVD
Tracey – we don’t rent out the condo when we are not here. For one thing, the condo assoc states that if you rent, it must be for a minimum of 30 days. Not many people want to rent for 30 days at a time. In a way I can understand. If this is your home, you don’t want people coming in, partying, making noise, then leaving after having trashed the place. The person you rent t needs to have a background check done. Well , they don’t want (this has happened) to let you rent to someone who may be a drug dealer and has a record. Same with someone you might sell to. They have to have a background check. The taxes can be a real hassle. If I’m not mistaken, FL laws say that you need to itemize every item in the condo.
SuziQ – I never thought of using my own pen!!! Whenever I go to a MD office I always take my tablet with me and never use their magazines. To be honest, I’m going to go to UAC mainly for the ideas. Honestly, I think I have fairly decent habits down, but I’m always open to new ideas. Another person we haven’t heard from in a while is Lenora
I usually do wipe down the bottom of my laptop with a disinfecting wipe. Mainly because sometimes I take it to the gym to do a DVD and if I need to use the bathroom, I take it in with me and have to place it on the floor. I also many times wipe down the bottom of my pocketbook since there are a lot of places where they have a bathroom but no place to hang your pocketbook so I wind up having to put it on the floor.
Lisa – I think the same way you do. I really think that Pete’s mother enables. She had them live with her so that they “could save up for a house”. What would have been wrong with letting them live where they were and paying their own way? Her husband bought them a car. I’m sure it’s because Pete totaled his other car so his father was driving him to work. I bet the father got tired of driving him so the father just bought him a car. No, it was a truck. Since that’s what they had so that’s what Pete wanted. To me, they are enabling. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they helped Pete and Denise buy the house. Come on….4 adults, 2 dogs, and a baby on the way in a small house? But there’s nothing I can do. What are they going to do when the mother and father are no longer around? Well, they’ll find out.
Going to a ceramic place in West Melbourne in a few. One other lady at a place we went to recommended her. Don’t know what we’ll find.
Michele in fl where its supposed to get warm starting Monday.

SuziQ I now have attached to my purse a small vial that contains a water lemon essential oil mix (about 4-5 drops) that I use to sanitize my hands when I am out and about. Here some stores have wipes in the front of the store so you can sanitize your cart. Aldi's does not I need to remember to bring my own.
I too carry my own pen. Thanks for your other great tips.
I had a delightful first grade yesterday. This is when teaching is fun!
It is not just this virus we need to protect ourselves. Flu can kill too.
I agree we need to take precautions but not panic. I am more concerned what this is doing to the world economy. I believe more will suffer from these effects than the virus itself.4 -
Allie, I've known you for years on this thread and observed how long it took you to realize that you needed to get out of your marriage. When you made the decision, you started to thrive. You've spent years suffering in your job and distracting yourself in so many ways and now you've made the decision to leave the job. I know you'll thrive even more. Best wishes to you.

SuziQ Can you post link to website with latest statistics on the novel Coronavirus? I know about The WHO dashboard, but wondered if you have a frequently updated source. And I meant to ask you 2 things: How has your work restructuring (or whatever it was) been coming along? I remember thinking that sounded like a cluster in the making. Second question: Are you doing another gleaning? I find it such a wonderful idea.
Pip Did your bruise completely heal?
LuciB Your granddaughter is so. darn. cute! A bundle of sweetness. That smile! Reminds me a bit of Athena
Kelly It's probably going to be a few more weeks until 6-month Miguel pictures, isn't it. Tap Tap Tapping my foot impatiently.
Beth in Buffalo So glad for you to have some sunshine!
Missing Yvonne, Meg, VickiGI, Trucker, Penny, and others. Hope you'll drop in soon!

p.s. Carol It's getting easier for me about Bailey. Are you still having frequent bad days about your sweet Pom?3
-
Karen ~ I think about our Pom every day and so does my husband. Knowing that he was so sick for 2 or 3 wks before we let him go is one of the things that hurts so bad. My husband kept thinking he would get better, but, it wasn't to be.6

I have to be honest, I did not read through all of these replies. I am turning 50 this summer and would like to add some female friends to mutually encourage and support. My diary is open to friends and I currently log daily so please send me a friend request.2

beth the sun is shining in upstate NY but check out this house in hoover beach I saw on the news today!
Happy leap day, I'm limiting my computer time and doing my exercises, stretches, hot and cold wraps-in other words, really working at healing this "thumb tendonitis". Love my hand Doctor, he is so supportive, knowledgeable and kind, sitting around the hand therapy table, I'm getting to know the "regulars" and we are bonding over the effort healing takes. Getting lots done on this bonus day!
Hugs and courage Allie I so agree with what Barbie posted about you--when you leap--you thrive!

NY Karen.... Isn't that ice amazing! I'm about 10 miles away from there and there are restaurants all along the lake shore that see similar icings each year.1

I did 325 bonus calories today as I ate too much for lunch and pm snack. So glad I've got the exercise room to even things out. DH went out for a short walk in the howling wind and was blown along the sea front and hailed on!
While I was rowing and biking I watched an episode of a very popular series on our tv about a supervet. I love watching the amazing surgery he performs. In this episode one 20 week old pug had to be put down because of genetic breathing and bone problems. Irresponsible breeders have a lot to answer for.
Waiting to hear back from my son about tomorrow's 1 to 1. He said he would let us know today.
DH will be watching the live streaming updates of his team (Watford) against Liverpool this early evening. He's not optimistic.
I'm going AF today with fake pink wine.
My son has just rung me. Tomorrow 1 to 1 not poss, but we are picking up Bea from nursery on Monday for them as they are both in London. So we will have a bit of time with her before the big ones roll home from school with the au pair. Glad to be of help (but not too much) My son says his new job is going well. I've hardly spoken to them for weeks. My DDIL has a new children's book coming out which is meant to help children get to sleep and teach basic meditation. I only know this through Facebook. Because of the au pair, who is lovely, we haven't been involved in their daily lives as much, so not a lot of chatting over cups of tea.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -
"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: BB&B, coffee/stroll w/Barb, DXA scan, line dance.
Bonus: 1 load laundry
Get to do: invest 10 mins cleaning Office, carry over cleaning Bedrooms, Dining Rm, dog group, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, board meeting minutes, bake bran muffins, call Carolyn D. March: get Shingrix vaccine, follow up with Doug for iCloud for Win10. Reward: inventory seeds, plan garden, order replenishments.
KJ Your kiddos and their families are fortunate you take such thought and effort. No virus would dare!
Machka Wow. Just Wow.
Margaret will borrow your Namaste alternative to handshake or hug greeting. Thanks for the clove and eucalyptus essential oil reminders
Lanette not sure if it was you, or NYKaren, or who it was who helped me reframe with the magical addition of “get to…” but it does help . . . mostly. Agree the media is blowing Covid-19 way out of proportion. IMHO many many more people are being killed by lack of medical attention for mental health issues, alcohol and drug abuse, inattentive driving and other preventable (had we the will to invest the $$) sources. Just my humble opinion. Kinda glad I got the second pneumonia vaccine before this hooraw. Our Pastor’s wife had an abundance of overwintered carrots and made roasted carrot hummus in two flavors, both yummy.
Amber totally agree about the need for better sportsmanship. Didn’t see the Taylor Swift the same way, not that she wanted to be that kind of man, but how that kind of man is rewarded for his misbehavior instead of criticized and shunned as a woman would have been.
Pip
Janet in Mo yes please see a Dr about that knee swelling.
Tere Loved the sneaky soup story!
Flea I am laughing out loud at “fork free” Reminds me of a column in a decades ago SF newspaper where the author reflected on his preference for food he could eat with his hands (fried chicken, pizza, corn on the cob, watermelon, etc.) who knows, maybe he was on to something?
Katla, the first time I broke my right wrist, I accidentally learned that I could get more in my mouth with chopsticks than I could with fork or spoon. No idea why, but it was a lifesaver!
Allie ditto Katla’s concerns that you have something in savings to tide you over as unemployment payments are only for involuntary layoffs. BUT, believe you will be so much happier, healthier, have so much more energy, that any prospective employer will be eager to snatch you up! Have you made a list of places to apply? Sometimes taking just one positive step can lift that burden.
Carol, me too, didn’t gain over the holidays but packed on the pounds in January, and they’re not receding. Gonna have to bite the bullet and switch things around, try something different, maybe close that window earlier.
Sue weasel in the cupboard? :noway:
Kylia aha! Now I know why I make funny faces and stick my tongue out when I accidentally eat cooked zucchini or squash! Fingers Xd the lowering WBC is easily repaired with no repercussions.
Tracey that rec therapist is a gem! What a blessing!
Lisa so sorry to hear how your son’s choosing to live his life, but kudos to you and Corey for stickin’ to your guns.
LuciB now THAT is a distraction
Welcome @Pamstimeslines no requirement to read every reply, just skim when you can. The gals here are full of compassionate wisdom… and humor
NYKaren That house icing while beautiful looks like it could really cause problems. Good on you for your hand exercises. Brava!
Couldn’t find my “On Guard” essential oil roll on yesterday. Time to grit my teeth and do some serious cleaning tidying, starting in the Master Bd.
Lighter, lovelies!

SuziQ- I am with you in the Coronavirus. More people have died from the regular strains of flu this year in Canada than that one. I will do what I can to make my odds better, but if it’s meant to be it will be.
Allie - it’s too bad you have to give notice and be professional. You could sum up that resignation in a few short words otherwise. I bet as soon as you submit it you will feel a peace you haven’t felt for a long time.
Kylia - I cant imagine the heartbreak of your daughter moving away. I still think of the hurt we caused our parents moving to Alberta from New Brunswick and taking their granddaughters away. I had our girls young as well, there is 20 years between Lauryn and I. I am so thankful that I was young but boy you’re right on the patience part!
Margaret - you are so right about other things being affected. We are getting a new phone system at work. The first delay was they were being shipped from China and quarantined, we ordered again from another distributor, they were coming via rail when the trains shut down due to the protestors here in Canada. They arrived this week via air and transport.
Michele - that makes a lot of sense about renting.
I have two trains of thought on helping adult children. I feel if they are working hard and trying to better their own lives and I have it to give there is no harm in that. I think if it’s expected and they aren’t doing anything to help themselves it does become enabling.
I have the house to myself today for a couple of hours and am getting caught up on some housework. I hate cleaning when anyone else is around. 😂

Allie: I’m happy to know that you have good medical care and a doctor that gives great advice.
Pip: Sorry you are feeling yucky. Hope the tummy improves asap. :flowerforyou:
Heather: We used to stop in at a tavern that had scotch eggs on the menu. YUM!!! Not the lowest calorie choice out there, but a rare and pleasant treat. Like your DH, I am a big fan of broccoli. I like fresh spinach, too, but NOT the canned stuff, and only occasionally the frozen stuff. Fresh is best.
JanetO: You are wise to have a doctor evaluate your knee. I hope it all comes out well for you.
Debbie in VA: The fitness club where I go has paper towels and disinfectant spray bottes available in every area where people touch machinery.
Tere in RVA: It sounds like you have a great job that you can be proud of. Medicaid is so important to so many! Congrats on getting your DH to eat spinach. I’m thinking that’s way more than two points for you.
Felicia: Tacos are perfect! DH is on a pork free diet at this time, although he makes an exception for bacon. He’s been put on a restricted diet and it has improved his health situation.
Sue: It sounds like you are being invaded. We had to have heavy metal grates bolted over all the vents in our foundation in order to keep raccoons out. The heavy screens are effective. When the Coons went under our house they entered through cheap plastic vent screens & tore out all of the insulation under our floors and pooped everywhere. Thank goodness our home owner’s insurance picked up the clean-up bill. It was a very expensive fix. The original screens were cheap plastic and easily broken. The new ones are stout metal screens. We didn’t install them until we realized the damage the racoons were doing. We haven’t had any troubles since. Good luck!
We have no plans for today and I’m having a great time rereading a book from my bookshelf.
Happy Leap Day!

Sue- We still have our Racoon issues too he got a bunch of females now so more to come! Neighbor finally keeping his trash a little more secured..had hubby mention to move it’s location! The Racoons lives using g his fence to get in quickly. I have attacked many ways . String vinegar y bleaching the patio (string odors) to even my sour oranges 🍊 from the tree in the favorite poo spot for them y the cats! Removed items they used to climb trees (they broke them anyways). Glue traps in the attic to strong smells in there y baited the rat boxes to make sure no extra visitors came with them. I hate killing things but I hate things that can hurt pets y kids more!
Amber Tx
Barbara SOC - Definitely a song to get one thinking.3 -
We put old fashioned mothballs under our deck for a couple of years. The raccoons did not hang out there. Neither did we during fall & winter. The mothballs did get the job done & we haven’t had trouble in the last year or two.3

Thank you ladies for the love and support it means the world to me,yes I have a little bit of savings and will try for unemployment and tell them.honestly how he was treating us. Unfair labor practices and all..
Got some grocery shopping down and still.havent gotten my mail now it is monday until I can pick it up...Oy..
I sent a short email to both Dr P and his wife saying with deep regret that I am giving my 2 weeks notice, that at this time I felt it was best for me and thanked them for teaching me all the new technology that I hope to use in future endeavors. Warm regards and all.. shirt, sweet and to the point..3 -
Katla - Thank you for the helpful info and encouragement. I've only been on my diet a little less that a week, but I'm sure I have lost some weight this week.
Thank you all for letting me be a part of this group.

Watford won 3-0.!!!!
Previous to that Liverpool had had a continuous streak of 26 wins and 1 draw. They were one match away from gaining the record for the longest streak ever! DH is a happy bunny!
Liverpool is at the top of the Premiership and Watford near the bottom.
