Kim - So glad your wisdom , gained over so many hard years, came in so very useful. Is there any chance you could get a raise for this? It seems to be a higher level job description. Nice idea to write a note to your counsellor. A hand made card?
DH has his recall blood test today at 12.03. Weird time. I am convincing myself that it is just his enlarged prostate. He will hate any investigation or biopsy. Boo.
Going to make my old friend Easy Crustless Spinach and Feta Pie today for dinner. Haven't made it for ages. It's from Skinnytaste, for those who don't know it. I like having leftovers for the next day's lunch. We usually eat two portions each for dinner.

Good morning,
Icy spots on roads so will leave a little early to get to class. Normally an hour drive I expect will take a little more time since I will need to keep my foot more gently on the gas pedal.
Actually walked away from husband at work yesterday. I offered a suggestion and he threw a tantrum. Don't treat me like I am 2. All i made was a suggestion keeping his thought processes in mind-😬 upside is I got more of my work done. I called SIL to make sure she had a way to get to work today as her car was in the shop. No she wasn't at work again. Yes she left at 1 on Monday. No she wasn't at work on Tuesday. She's sick again. She did get her car back (her soon to be ex picked it up for her). She said she would be at work today, but will probably only stay until after Donovan unloads the semi coming in. 😡 I love being needed, but would appreciate a little recognition for my contributions some times. Anyway, will head to class, then back to work. Cause that is what I do. Our customers depend on me.
Allie- What a wonderful adventure! Love the pictures! You do look happy. My goal is to fly first class one of these days. I looked at first class to the Philippines, but a lot out of my price range as well as for my other 3 friends. Glad you are safely home!
Pip- thank you! Will do today!
Ladies, gotta get a shower and get going. Don't want to be running behind.
Make today a great day!

Machka- Great job on the stairs! Almost to the finish line!1

Allie - thank you so much, made it so much more real with the pictures of you, too.
Karen NY - glad there's a diagnosis and treatment to help.
Karen VA - thanks for the pic of Josephine. Hope the chemo was successful.
Kim - I agree with Heather, there should be a raise in that for you. You're an amazing woman.
Heather - hope the blood results show just required changes or something easily fixable that Johnny will submit to fixing. From Harvard Health: "Men who have marital partners also live longer than men without spouses; men who marry after age 25 get more protection than those who tie the knot at a younger age, and the longer a man stays married, the greater his survival advantage over his unmarried peers."
Last in-town meeting for the week at 10:30 a.m., the guy bringing and installing the dishwasher is supposed to be here sometime this afternoon, and I have a teleconference from 1 to 4 p.m. Oh, and the dentist in the morning tomorrow, but that should be just my six-month cleaning.
Talking of dentists trying to upsell, when I was in late last year, I told them I tend to grind my teeth when I'm stressed, and they offered to create a mouthguard for $470. Considering I can get a ten-count of them online for $12.99, I declined.
Just one more week and my daughter will be here with my soon-to-be-five-year-old granddaughter and two-month old grandson. Debating on whether to try to super clean in advance or have her help me do the spring cleaning while she's here. Probably the latter.
Love y'all,
Later,
Lisa in AR

Karen - Best wishes to Josephine. Kids are amazing. I hope treatment continues to go well.
At the singing on Tuesday we sang Happy Birthday to Megan, one of the Downs Syndrome teenagers who come and join in every week. We were sitting next to the guy who has the best voice of all of us. He talked to us a bit and told us he was hit over the head (he didn't say how) 17 years ago and he has had to relearn almost everything. He is only in the last few years able to study new things and enjoy life. He is an older guy and I admire his determination. I thought of Machka and realised how grateful I am for the education she has given us about brain injury as I was able to listen to him with understanding, even when he rambled a bit.

Mouthguards - I have two pricey ones from the dentist. One of them fits over my bottom teeth and is so very comfortable to wear. I have had it for about 10 years. It does show some wear where I bite on it, but it still works great. I can hardly tell I have it on since it is molded completely to my teeth/mouth. I have a second one from a second dentist (insurance change so different dentist) that fits my top teeth and works good. Since I have had burning mouth syndrome the last 9 months, it is not as comfortable to wear because it covers part of the top of my mouth where the burning is the worst in the evening. My insurance will cover one every five years. I need to get another made and see if I can convince this dentist to make a new one for the bottom. That way I have one in my travel bag and don't have to remember to pack it. I have used the cheap ones that you kind of mold yourself a few times and they are not near as comfortable. That said, if I was paying $500 vs $15, I'd do the do it yourself one too!

Allie - thank you for the pictures! The trip of a lifetime Trudy looks like a lot of FUN!!
Rori - I can't recall if I mentioned a good resource for dementia and caregiver input - www.agingcare.com. I get a daily email from this organization and Sundowners is often mentioned in the forum. Hope things have settled down in your household.
Karen in VA - love seeing Josephine's bright smile! Thank you for sharing.
Kim - You are providing a very valuable service in the role of a trusted "Aunt". Kudos to you being there for your supervisor and the crew.
Make it a super day, ladies!

NYKaren Glad you finally have a diagnosis and treatment plan but dadgummit, tendonitis HURTS. (healing hugs)
Karen in VA looking at the HS pic again and wondering if your sadly lost best friend was pictured? Thanks for the Josephina Ballerina update, what a heart melter.
Carol, Hard to imagine buying a mouth guard online. Surprised your dentist didn’t want to fit one to you individually. They are awkward enough as it is, and definitely not “one size fits all”
Oh Allie. Thank YOU for sharing your vacay with us. What stunning photos. ThankyouThankyouThankyou!
Kim Loved reading your post and hope to be your kind of Aunt when I grow up. Hope it happens soon, as I’m within spittin’ distance of 70.
Lisa loved the Harvard Health stats you shared with Heather. Are your boughten online mouth guards comfortable enough to wear?
Okie et al thanks for the mouth guard reminders. Time to get mine out of the box and put it in!
The drive back from church was long, dark and harder than expected. If choir practice will be scheduled for an evening other than Wednesday (with Lenten service) then I’ll regretfully back out. Maybe a sigh of relief for all. To be honest, even making it for weekly Lenten services will be a challenge.
Lighter, lovelies!

Going to take the Power Hour class then hopefully go to this crochet. If not, someone at the condo assoc told me about it. I’m having trouble getting my count right so maybe someone can help me. We’re supposed to meet a friend of ours at 3 today in Daytona Beach. The plan for tomorrow is to do a DVD by Micah Hudson. I brought DVD’s down here, but I didn’t mark on them if it was more of a strength or aerobic, so I’m not really sure what I’m getting. Well, whatever, it’s going to be a workout.
Will post this before I leave for the Y. By the time the class is over and I try going to the crochet, it may be too late. We need to leave around 1.

My husband rambles too, as does just about everyone in the brain injury peer support group. It seems to be a thing. It's kind of sad/funny when the group gets together. One starts talking, then heads off a different direction, and another picks up from there and takes it in a completely different path, and another leaps in and off we go a different way. Within minutes we're not only off topic, we can't even see the original topic in the rear view mirror! But they're all supportive of each other and seem quite happy with the discussions.grandmallie wrote: »Machka- we had a couple on our tour group from is it King Island ? Yes, King Island is part of Tasmania but it's own island. That's King Island with the red marker.

Lisa loved the Harvard Health stats you shared with Heather. Are your boughten online mouth guards comfortable enough to wear?
Barbara AHMOD - Oh, yes, they're on Amazon and are disposable. Each came in its own little packet, so I can throw one in my suitcase. They don't fit your teeth, they are just little pads that keep your back teeth from being able to bite down, and then a bit of plastic that leads from one to the other. Very simple, and for me very effective. And my insurance does not pay for mouthguards.
Cooling down from elliptical, then a quick shower and off to town for my morning meeting.

Heather PSA of 12 can also be due to a prostate infection. Usually, if there is an infection, John would take antibiotics & his PSA retested before they launch into a cancer investigation. I'm sure your health system has a good protocol for elevated PSA. (((Hugs)))

Barbara Lynette is the one holding something in her hand on your left (I think it's a little Snoopy Red Baron Sopwith Camel). So L to R is Lynette, then Shona (her BFF and the glue that holds us all together), then tall Jodie, then me. Pam is missing because she took the photo, and Daylene was not yet part of our little group. My friendship with former BFF Jeanette was separate from this group. She would have been part of our cadre, but she had a serious boyfriend she wanted to be with. We had a strict rule about not using "the girls" get-togethers as an excuse to our parents to really sneak off & meet our boyfriends. True friends.2
-
Well, it turns out that the recall was for low red blood cell count. He had 4.3 when normal range goes down to 4.5 for a man. Googling throws up all sorts of reasons. He has had low back pain since November which he and the doctor put down to spine and muscular problems. We get results in three working days if there is confirmation. We won't hear if all is ok.
Just have to wait.
He had to insist on seeing the results of the first test. They don't tell you otherwise. The nurse got them, but wasn't forthcoming about anything. He gave them feedback that it isn't helpful not to know what you are being tested for, or why. He hasn't seen a doctor yet.
Oh well. Che sera, sera.

Morning!
Well I took a couple days off work and missed all the excitement here. One of our department heads was "relieved of duty" and escorted off campus on Tuesday - one of those things where we're not allowed to ask what it was about but lots of rumors about why it happened. Plus, 2 other departments had a bit of a cat-fight and one of the managers is threatening to leave. I'm just going to keep my head down, do my job and stay out of the way!
Thanks all for the birthday wishes and for the responses on my meditation question. I've set up a small area in the office where I can either sit or lay down, turn out the lights, put on the noise-cancelling headphones and either just be silent or listen to white noise (rain sounds seem to be really soothing to me).
Back to work - still trying to get caught up from the days off.
JanetO - eastern MO7 -
Greetings from sunny but chilly South Florida.
I have been keeping up with the posts. Due my work and exercise schedule I have not been able to reply. I made a last-minute decision and will be taking tomorrow off from work for a much needed me day. I must purchase a few clothing items because everything is falling off of me and starting to look clownish. Happy dance! Also scheduled a flower arranging class for Saturday. I am looking forward to a new spring arrangement.
I surprised myself yesterday. If everyone recalls I started this journey at the end of August 2019. When I started I was a complete couch potato. I started incorporating movement by walking in place and adding a little movement where I was able to do so. When I started walking in place 10 minutes was tiring. Yesterday I actually ran in place for 10 minutes and enjoyed it. This is something very new to me at my not so young age because I have always disliked running.
Meditation – I was fortunate to be taught Transcendental meditation at a very young age of 12. Since I was so young it was much easier for me to learn how to meditate. I can meditate at any time or in any place. Interestingly enough work promoted a site called Headspace (free to the first 300 who signed up). I think the site is good for beginners, but I really do not need guided meditation. I am trying to get through the sessions because I may learn a new technique.
Ginny – I am a little late here – glad to hear your brother’s procedure went well.
Heather – It seems we agree upon eating the rainbow and it works for both of us. I also agree that unless suggested by one’s doctor most supplements are a waste of good money. I do know many feel better loading up. This may be a result of the actual supplements or a placebo effect. But if it works for them – great! I am considering incorporating collagen into my diet since we lose 1% per year starting in our 30s and it is beginning to show in my skin. I have been researching the best plant-based versions because my stomach does not like whey and whey isolates. Hoping doctors are able to find a reason and solution for the low RBC.
JanetR – Sending prayers. I hope your daughter continues on a brighter path and is able to get through her days of darkness. You have got to feel better having her closer to you; although not exactly what you had planned. By putting the “no more one more chances” rule she is well aware of what you expect. I will be incorporating your mother’s wisdom.
Katla – There is a wonderful MFP Challenge group called UAC (Ultimate Accountability Challenge). It’s a mix of ages, backgrounds, and points in their journey. It’s not a crazy run 1000 miles this month group. Those who join commit to recording all intake, getting 20 minutes of exercise in and staying within their calories goals. Everyone is very supportive and welcoming. Here’s the link: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/135947-ultimate-accountability-challenge-march-2020
Allie – Thank you for sharing the pictures and points of interest during your vacation. You really looked like you were in your element. And, shame on your ex-coworker for being an a--. Honestly I would have texted her back and said you could have waited until I got back in the office to tell me this – please lose my number. I am not good with people who like to bring others down and avoid them like a virus.
Machka – I was surprised by the doctor’s advice of drinking daily too.
Rori – Big hug to you. Sorry about the Sundowner’s episode. I have not experienced it but through discussions of others taking care of parents and partners it seems to come out of nowhere and can be extremely challenging for caretakers and family members. I have heard good things about medications, but again have no experience. I am hopeful DH’s primary is able to guide you in treatments.
Kelly – What a beautiful idea for lent. The gleaning really helps me become more mindful of those who are food challenged and very grateful to be able to help where I can.
NYKaren – Hoping for a quick recovery from the tendonitis.
Karen VA – Josephine is a little angel. So proud of her and pray chemotherapy is the last of it for her. She continues to shine through all of this and is an amazing person.
Kim – Not sure what topic caused the dissension at work. It seems like you have your hands full and you are handling everything with grace. Due to the varying ages at work I have had to retrain my thinking about work and what it means to different generations. The age group within your team needs to know why they are being tasked with something. Yes, seems silly to us because we were taught to respect our elders and those in higher positions but the younger generations have been taught to question everything and they really need to know why. Hopefully with your mediating the team signs up for the next contract period.
Lisa – The picture of Levi is adorable!
JanetO – Good idea – keeping your head down. But, most times when people are escorted off the property we know it’s not something good.
Hugs to all and prayers to those in need.

Lisa - Oh Levi! Can I come to your place for a cuddle!
DH out for a walk. He's a bit quiet. Probably read the same internet stuff that I did.
My Feta pie is cooling. I've boiled some potatoes for him. We will have a salad.
I did some rowing and biking as I had to wait in for Amazon - had to sign for a package. The sun is shining.
Lots of love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx5 -
I wanted to post this photo of Lynette & Rod on their wedding day. They were in their mid-twenties. They had been friends forever, but no sparks. They both went away to college & moved back to my little town to teach & farm…and the rest is history. This photo would have been taken in the mid-'70's.

Heather: I hope your DH’s testing goes smoothly and doesn’t reveal anything scarey. :flowerforyou:
Barbara: I have three blueberry bushes. Two are the same cultivar, Sunshine Blue. The other is a bit smaller plant, and it is called Bountiful Blue. I bought them at a nearby nursery several years ago and they are happy where they are planted. I was told they were from the Southern Oregon coast, near Bandon. We live in a townhouse and they’re all planted in beds on the west side of the house. There is another townhouse on the other side of the walkway. I feel confident you would be able to grow them if you want. They all produced fruit the first year they were planted, but only a little. The amount of fruit has increased each year. I didn’t get them pruned last fall so this year may be a bit of a mess. We’ll see.
SuziQ: Thanks for the accountability challenge link.
JanetO: Keeping your head down with all the “excitement” at work seems like a very good idea. I hope things settle in for everyone at your workplace and you are not put in any stressful situations that result from the changes. :flowerforyou:
Pip: Donation is in the mail. You and Kirby are the best! Thank you for supporting MS research in such a powerful way. Not everyone is willing or able to participate in a bike marathon. You two are among heroes.

Lisa Levi is a cutie-pie. (That's a poem in the making.)
Heather So now I'm confused. Does Johnny always have a PSA level of 12?
Anyway, concerning the slightly low RBC count, the first thing that should be done is to take another blood sample to confirm it. If the sample was even slightly hemolyzed, it would cause the RBC count to be slightly low. Blood is sometimes slightly hemolyzed due to the way the sample was handled by the lab, or even as a result of vigorous exercise.
SuziQ Enjoy your Friday off & clothes shopping! I hope you have perfect weather and find a nice spot for a leisurely lunch, too!

Heather So I'm guessing that a recall in the UK is when you have to go back for another blood draw? Johnny has already had his blood redrawn?1
-
Karen - It was just my guess (wrong) that the repeat test would be because of his enlarged prostate. When he insisted that the nurse tell him why they wanted to repeat the test the thing that showed up in the original test was the slightly low RBC count. So they did the second one today at lunchtime.
I don't like the system of not telling you if all is OK. Anyway, we can only wait and see.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx4
