Wow I managed a fourth day in a row doing my little five-and-a-bit kilometre route. Was tired today though and wasn’t rewarded with a pretty sunrise as too cloudy. But I’m glad I did it and that it was dry at least. It has thrown it down relentlessly since not long after I finished the run!
March goal: 36 miles
March total: 13.2 miles
2/3: 3.3 m
3/3: 3.3 m
4/3: 3.3m
5/3: 3.3m
February total: 17.8m
January total: 0m11 -

I was extremely confused at first but I'm assuming this is about two dogs now.
I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm glad your older dog is okay.
If I were you, I would keep them separated when not supervised. Maybe like block one in one part of the house, and the other in a different part of the house. Fights can easily get nasty, and if no one was home, you have no idea what triggered it. I would hate to see the older dog get seriously injured.
likely not necessary. they've lived together for 2 years with barely a squabble. the good new was the foster dog was in his crate. someone just had a bad day.4 -

I have a 13.7-I got lost sticker in my collection. It’s extra humorous because it’s 100% the truth. I have gotten lost in every race I have ever run. Even the ones with like 1 turn. It’s a gift.8 -
March Goal: 90 Miles
3/1: 7.62 miles
3/2: 5.05 miles
3/3: 5.02 miles
3/5: 5.05 miles
22.74/90 miles completed for March
221.82/1000 miles for Run the Year Team Pavement Pounders
My HM training plan called for a tempo run this morning so that is what I did. I was a little nervous. I've always been a little unsure on how to do speed work and worry that I am not doing it right. So I have had a tendency to either skip it, half *kitten* it, or just do Zombie's Run with the chases turned on. But this time I thought I would make more of an effort to do the speed work. So my plan for the tempo run was to start slow for about the first 10 minutes (or about a mile), then spend the next 15-20 minutes at 10K race pace and then slow back down for the last 10 minutes or so, or really just until I got home. I wasn't sure what to wear this morning. It was a lot cooler than my last couple of runs, but there was no wind so I ended up wearing capris, a t-shirt and sleeves and gloves. I was a little worried that I would be over dressed, but when I got out there it was cooler than I expected and I was dressed just right. I set my virtual pacer to 10K race pace with the intention of running behind pace for the warm up and cool down and on pace for the tempo part. That plan worked out really well for me. I had to work to keep my pace slower on the warm up. Mostly because I was cold and tend to run faster when I'm cold. But whether I did the tempo run "right" or not, I stuck to my plan and I was paying attention to my pace and trying to be intentional and not just running, so I think I did good. I ended up with 5 miles overall with miles 2 and 3 about a minute faster than miles 1, 4 and 5. It was a really nice run too. It rained all day yesterday so I was glad I moved Wednesday's run to Monday. This morning it was colder than it has been, but it was mostly clear and no wind. There were lots of puddles and some fog, but mostly it was nice. At one point I crossed the creek on the way back to the park and there was fog across the road between the creek and the soccer fields. It was just as the sun was coming up and it was really pretty.
@Camaramandy648 You do need to practice running in the dark. But honestly if it were me I would do the runs on Sunday instead of Saturday. But that is just me.
@dreamer12151 I would go with the Garmin information for the same reasons as @PastorVincent.

I love all the stickers!!!! @LoveyChar I cannot WAIT to get my marathon sticker!!!!!! I have explained what 26.2 means to my kids in the car so many times and I always say, "Anybody who has a 26.2 sticker is super dedicated and has a lot of grit, because that's what it takes to run a marathon."
I never thought it would be me!
I had the follow up with the doctor today about the sleep and anxiety and all that excellent, fun stuff. He said that if I am taking a xanax every time I wake up through the night as prescribed, then I should NOT, absolutely NOT still be waking up....... well. I was taking it exactly as prescribed and I just felt heavy and moody so I stopped taking it about two weeks in. I guess my sleeper in my brain is broken. I'd think xanax more than once through the night would put down a horse, but what do I know...
So he gave me a new prescription that is longer lasting and should work better. We'll see.8 -
10 miles today. I was going to shoot for 20, but I was wearing the wrong underwear, and need to do laundry.

I got that after I ran over 27 miles in a Marathon. I straight up earned it, I guess!2 -

@Duck_Puddle you need to join me at my race next weekend at the Sandlot Marathon (or half marathon). You can't get lost, just keep the pitcher's mound on your left!
Finally caught up after mostly reading nearly 300 posts!!!
@hamsterwheel6 congrats on your AG 1st, you rockstar!
@LoveyChar that race looks great!
@Camaramandy648 ... 1)what a wonderful birthday from your kids! 2) Night trail runs kick *kitten*! 3) I enjoy evening runs and running in the dark, so Saturday is my pick. What about after church on Sunday though?
@PastorVincent training for a 50K vs. 50M is not much different. You can't scale the training linearly or you'll wear out and possibly injured. For me, all the mid-week and most weekend runs are the same. The difference is working in more back to back long runs for a couple of the weekends, such as a 20M saturday and a 16M Sunday. I also include more strength work and stair work for 50M.
Glasses vs. Contacts - I much prefer running in contacts because I hate running in my prescription glasses. Weird thing though, when I wear contacts, it doesn't bother me a bit to wear sunglasses. The bad thing about wearing contacts is that I need readers so it can be tough to read my Garmin.
I'll save my donut run report until I have more time.
Tuesday Kody & I were out for 8 miles and found some interesting items. The first was a woman's wallet. No money or anything particularly valuable but her driver's license was in it. I found a phone number online and reached a relative who said she'd pass on my number to the gal, but so far I've heard nothing. I'll call one more time then give up trying to get it back to her.
The other item I found...well I guess I really could have gotten a runner's high...

My headphones died on this run so I spent a lot of time just thinking and letting my mind wander. Questions that occurred to me:
- why does the run after a rest day always feel so hard?
- why do I always need to use the bathroom (💩) around the middle of mile 4?
- why do cyclists frown all the time?
- why are runners so much more friendly than cyclists?
- where have all the ospreys and hawks gone (suspect nesting)?
Anyway it was a pretty good run. I finally bought a pair of Balega Glide running socks and wore them today. I have really never worn much other than Smartwool and thought I would give these a try after they were mentioned here a few times. I really like them. Will have to see over time how they perform and if I get blisters.

@7lenny7 I didn't realize the Sandlot Marathon was next weekend. Good luck with that. Interesting items you found during your run.
@Camaramandy648 Hope you are able to get more sleep now.1 -

Lately I have found the guided runs on my Nike App. They have been really helpful for this solo runner, used the "I Don't Wanna Run Run" and "Easy Run". I start my Garmin and the app (with the Spotify playlist suggested) & next thing I know, I'm almost at the end!
My problem now is, on the Nike App, I get 2 different entries. Like, for this morning, the Garmin entry says 1.80 miles, 14;15 pace & 25:47 total, but Nike says 1.81 miles, 13:47 pace, 25:00 total. Which one should I keep? (Strava says 1.80, 14:16, 25:47) On the MFP app I delete the one that says "running in place" as they both have the same calories, so it doesn't matter as much which platform, and I know the total milage is pretty much the same, but for pace, I want to be as close to what I really am. Garmin/Strava? Nike?
My Nike app usually has less than my Garmin. So my Garmin will end at 3.5 and Nike will say 3.49. I only use Nike to track my shoe milage so I go by Garmin numbers for distance. Maybe someday I'll add shoes to garmin and ditch Nike (but I got my last new pair in December and put them in Nike because all my shoes are there. HAHAHA)2 -
@LoveyChar that is a pipe, lol. You put weed it in and smoke it.
That bowl, however, is empty so @7lenny7 is sol.
I say this as a COMPLETELY CLEAN AND SOBER person. My experience with pipes such as those ended long, long, long ago.8 -

Oh...well thanks. LMAO! I wondered why he was getting a runner's high from a broken hairbrush or was he hallucinating or what?!? Gotcha!2 -
@7lenny7 That sounds fun! But I will be in Moab. Running a race down one road that has a rock on one side; a river in the other and zero cross streets. There’s one turn at the end into the park where the finish is.
When I ran Arches in October - it’s on the same road (different but still only one turn into one place). I missed the turn, ended up causing a traffic incident between a bus and a police cruiser.
Oops. Not my fault. The flashing lights and barricades were very confusing 🙄.
I did not find any pipes during that race.6 -

Thanks for all the insight about what day(s) to do the long-run on. There are so many things that I can't sacrifice: Madison's social skills classes, time with my son, church, and running. It's just going to be a matter of getting it done, one way or the other.1
