Back to work after 4.5 days off. Now the catch-up process begins.
M in Oz5 -
Tookk the extremepump class today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Denise Austin Power Zone DVD
KJ – that pie chart to me is sometimes interesting. But I don’t hold a lot of stock in it since it doesn’t differentiate between good and bad carbs. Now THAT’S something I’d like to see. But I know that it won’t happen
Barbara – many times I would love to just have an appetizer for dinner. I’m really not that full. But the biggest problem is that most times the food on the appetizer menu is deep fried. Same for the child’s menu. Not all the time, but most of it.
Another thing I do when we go out to eat is I almost always have water no ice. I don’t care for coffee and don’t want to put diet soda in my body. I’m not a soda drinker. The only time I might have something other than water is when I have tea (no sugar or milk)
M – that cruise sounds lovely. I agree, in the sun is the ONLY way to listen to a course, or anything for that matter
SuziQ – what I did this morning was used a soup ladle and got most of the yogurt out of the pot. Then, for the little that was left, I put that in a small bowl and then put the bowl in the bag and turned it upside down. Worked fine and didn’t need someone else to hold the bag open. I knew I could do it by myself!
Heather – keep watching DH.
JR- happy birthday
After exercise went to the Salvation Army. Didn’t get anything. Then I decided to stop by Michael’s to see if I can get more yarn but ACMoore was still there. My understanding was that Michael’s was going to be in there by the end of Feb. But ACMoore did have a good sale. Admitted, they didn’t have a lot of things, but what they had was anywhere from 50-70% off. Just got a few things. Off to bowling now. I’ll see how high my team got in the standings since I wasn’t there.
Went to ceramics and picked up my Jiminy Cricket
Go to the dentist tomorrow a.m. for him to start on the crown that I need
Sharon – so sorry about your daughter. How great that you’ll be there!
Katla – if someone else hit you, how can you get sued? I must have missed something. You certainly have some of the worst luck

Hi Gals,
I am finding all the talk about flu stressful. So I’m skimming and may be missing things. Sorry if I miss something to comment on.
I am not in a financial situation to stock up on supplies, or take time off of work. My natural way is to keep my home aired out on nice weather days, and try to be reasonably careful about exposure to germs, as I can’t afford the doctors visit, my insurance starts after the first $6,500 each year so everything is out of pocket. So since I can’t afford to change anything material, I am doing what I can to keep a positive attitude and not pay any attention to the news and worriers. My teen years were a time my family embraced the Christian Science Religion and while I have left that belief structure, the one thing that stuck with me was how strong our thoughts could be – focus on the negative often produces negative, focus on positive produces positive… I am the glass “almost full” gal.
Machka – happy birthday! Sounds like a great weekend away.
Amber's JR - Happy Birthday
Michele – cute Jiminy Cricket.
Katla – sorry to hear about the accident and the potential suing.
Lisa – the grand pictures are so cute!

This site is the Australia government advice site for travellers. It has some good information about keeping healthy while travelling, about travel destinations that may not be an option just now, and especially about cruises.

Yesterday (Monday 9 March) was Labour Day or as it is called in Tasmania "Eight-Hour Day". It's nice that Australia celebrates my birthday (March 9) with a long weekend.
The idea behind "Eight-Hour Day" celebrates the idea of 8 hours rest, 8 hours work, and 8 hours recreation and a post on FB asks:How does your average day measure up?
Are you able to divide your day into 8 hours rest, 8 hours work, 8 hours recreation?
I nearly choked on my tea when I read that ... 8 hours recreation??
I get 7 hours rest if my day has gone well, and the remaining 17 hours are work/uni or preparation for work/uni or getting to and from work/uni or attending medical appointments and other appointments related to brain injury or taking care of personal business ...
Recreation comes in minutes here and there when I might be able to process a photo I took that day or occasionally read a chapter of a fiction novel or if I actually pay full attention to a TV show for a moment or two instead of having it as background noise.
And it's all very well and good telling people that they don't need to do so much ... but there's work to be done and someone has to do it.
Got a work email today that hinted restrictions may be coming ... cannot wait! Probably won't happen but it would be so nice to be told to stay home and not go out for a couple weeks.

Well my weight lost chart looks like some stone in Utah.... The dramatic uptick and back down towards the end there was me just settling into my eating habits.👍

I skimmed a lot of the pages, so I'm sure I missed a lot of things, so bear with me.
Sharon: Good to see your post. Hope your daughter isn't badly impacted by the Coronavirus delaying her op.
Amber: 🎈🎉🎈Happy Birthday to JR 🎈🎉🎈
Michele: Jiminy Cricket turned out well.
Kim: I'm also skimming the flu stuff.
I am taking sensible precautions, but I do think the constant media coverage is overkill. Some People will be sensible, but many will stick their heads in the sand no matter what.
I believe in the power of positive thought. What will be, will be! I will deal with it, IF it happens.
The family had a great time at the birthday celebration for DYD on Sunday. We had 11 for dinner. It was mostly catered food from M&S, but very good nonetheless. I made a salad, and although I was under goal, the weight has bounced a little 😂 C'est la vie!!!
Her actual birthday was on Saturday, and her partner had arranged a day of fun which culminated in a surprise party with her social crowd.
Today, I have my Craft Group, yesterday, I had Monday Painters after lunch, and went to Library Poetry after dinner.
Stay safe, folks! It's a mad, mad, mad world out there.

Hi ladies just a quick post, mum not feeling well so on my way over to give her a bit of company. I think she feels worse because she hasn't got my dad to look after/think about so her own aches and pains are on her mind more. She hasn't been well for months now. Seems I'm calling the doctor every week, wish she could at least get rid of the sciatica pain.
Amber I'm loving the little video's you have been posting. Parenting through the ages Yikes some of the things they did. Also the kids trying different lunches - so funny.
Not sure how the drive in testing for corona virus is working, I'll maybe have to look it up, wonder if it's like a drive through at McDonalds (going from one window to another getting tested)
Still catching up, take care everyone.

"Get to do"s and "chose well"sChose well: BB&B, gas, post office, Freddie’s, post dog group flyer, follow up with Doug for iCloud for Win10.Managed to stay within CI<CO, barely, at shared March birthdays dinner with friends. Having raw veggies and hummus for a late lunch before, holding the wine down to one glass helped. One gal had a peanut butter chocolate cheesecake (made in house) and shared bites. Estimated my one tiny bite at 75 calories and wow was it good, but I sure didn’t need any more!
Bonus: card for Doris, puppy DVD start chapter 2, birthday dinner with Carol and Tracie.
Get to do: invest 10 mins cleaning Living Rm, carry over 10 m ins cleaning Master Bth, board meeting minutes, bake something for Joe, veg prep, line dance class, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, Reward: inventory seeds, plan garden, order replenishments.
Happy Birthday Machka!
Karen in VA, the Tonight Dough was yummy but if B&J ever issue a NY Super Fudge Chunk pint slice, I’m doomed! What you said to Kylia. Something does sound off there. Perhaps Kylia could approach her from Barbie’s position of love and ask her if she’s ok or struggling?
SuziQ “take a picture of the plate before and after I eat. When taking the picture I make sure my hand is in it as a guide.” Great tip, thanks!
Heather, share others’ concerns, but guess it will be a challenge to get DH in to be checked. The SIL of a friend had a horrible bout of intestinal distress, passed out and fell off the toilet, got wedged between the bowl and the wall. Something about the vagus nerve sends a signal to divert all the energy available from elsewhere (including the brain) to power the straining. It took some number of paramedics to get her out, (they ended up removing the toilet, so she must have been really wedged in there.) Sending healing hopes to your DH.
Lisa thank you so much for posting those pics, was gonna poke you pretty soon
Lanette the only microwave we have is one salvaged from the camper. It sits on Joe’s workbench in the garage and is only used (in desperation) for microwave popcorn Have a toaster oven in the kitchen for rewarming pizza and oatmeal, if the tea in the thermos cools too much, I reheat it in a saucepan on the stove. Microwave is one of the conveniences we’ve done without since moving here, the other is an automatic icemaker in the fridge. Back to cube trays and a bin. BUT have been giving some thought to starting to use the dishwasher, currently its mere plasticware storage. I seem to be squandering a lot of time hand washing dishes… Sorry to hear about Sophie’s stomach, Shadow too here. I’m on the verge of thawing out some of my frozen pumpkin puree. All I can say is thank Goodness for puppy pads.
Katla ditto on the white rice and chicken. If trouble persists 2 days, or is accompanied with vomiting, we try withholding food for 24 hours. So sorry your parent’s ends were so horrible. You must have felt so helpless and angry. And the nerve of the driver who backed in to you wanting to sue you for damages ! SMH. :noway:
Amber, Happy birthday JR!
Annie agree traveling by plane you could catch and bring the virus to your parents. Trust they’ll understand if you postpone until this all dies down.
Flea wow, at Israel’s two week self-quarantine requirement for inbound travelers. What SuziQ said.
Sharon so good to hear from you. Con VERY gratulations on achieving goal! Brava! ((hugs)) and hoping the surgery hospital stays COVID19-free . How old are her kids?
NYKaren the profile pic story.
Michele Jiminy Cricket!
Kim believe your abstaining from the flu information panic overload, “glass almost full” attitude, healthy lifestyle and lots of fresh air are the very best preventatives!
Rebecca a landscape of which to be proud. Well done!
Viv ((hugs)) to you and your mum. Sciatica pain is so wearing.
Have no outside commitments tomorrow 'til line dance class at 6. Instead of slogging around in my bathrobe will get dressed-to-the-shoes early in case Joe suggests taking the dogs to the beach…

DH and I walked around the neighborhood discussing the back fence that our neighbor wants to put in, we think it is a good idea but are going to wait and see what the estimate and our share would actually be before we decide to go all in. The spring time weather, the tulip bulbs sprouting, the later sun set time, all have been my focus to staying positive and confident. It is key to functioning for me, that and my DH and I use humor to refocus our worries.....I also suggest finding one reliable source for news and medical directives and ignore the rest. I have agency over my feelings, staying mindful

Wrote a lot on my response to the world woes, chose to delete it. Let's just say I, too, have been skimming here because it's something I cannot change. Perhaps I have finally found that bit of wisdom, though I doubt it.
Still spring cleaning and decluttering today with my daughter... which is quite intermittent with a four-year-old (nearly five, Gramily!) and a two month old... but we made it through the bathroom yesterday, and today is the kitchen!
Love y'all,
Lisa

Thank you all for the birthday greetings ... my 2-day birthday is almost over.
Lots of work but also a very nice little cruise.

I have decided not to go up to London this week after all. I am developing a cold and can't bear the thought of sitting in a railway carriage trying not to sniffle or cough with everyone glaring at me. Ditto the theatre. There's nothing like trying to suppress sneezing or coughing for it to feel so much worse. I had to move upstairs at 5 a m because I needed to blow my nose. Quite relieved actually, as I was going out of loyalty, rather than desire. My difficult friend is just getting over a really bad cough, so I don't want to give this to her. She has respiratory problems and heart troubles.
So relief!!!!!
NYKAREN - The only problem with January is that the sea is more likely to be rough and DH is not a great sailor, but storms can happen at any time of year. We picked this Norway trip because it was the right time of year for us, but we have been to Norway many times now. My Norwegian is quite proficient! I did want to visit Ålesund and I'm sure the whole thing would have been delightful, but I've kind of let it go in my head already, even if we haven't actually rescheduled yet. Keeping an ear open for government decisions, because we would prefer a refund, or to reschedule for later 2021.
We have visited Morocco for extended visits several times and loved it. Casablanca and Agadir are ports we haven't visited, so it would be different. Neither of us have been to the Canaries. It is on my bucket list to go to Lanzarote, and there are other islands, including the Gomera national park. The ship also calls at Madeira, where we have spent 10 days in the past, and Lisbon, which is as familiar to me as Paris as I have a friend who lives there. It is an attractive option even though, so we are seriously interested.
DH is on good form. We are singing this afternoon and I will sit well away from the others so I don't sneeze over them.
Veal escalopes for dinner, with garlicky haricot beans and broccoli.

Good Tuesday,
Massage was wonderful! Went to grocery. The produce was slim picking. I did get berries so I am happy again. I didn't get home until 830. Had yogurt with berries for dinner(I was starving). Put groceries away. Forgot to close food diary last night. Curled up with magazine in bed a little after 9. I actually got 7.5 hours of sleep!
If I knew my friend better I would probably approach. She is an introvert (that much I know). Her socializing is only good for a max of about 60 minutes, then she gets shut off. I just know that if I go out again with them that I have something to entertain with afterwards😎
Michelle- LOVE Jiminy cricket. You just settle back in wherever you are!
Amber- it sounds like JR had a great birthday.
Sharon- prayers for your daughter. Congratulations on reaching goal!
News- grumble.....It is overwhelming....I briefly listen in the morning. My husband just asked me about toilet paper! I guess stores are running low. Just how much toilet paper can even a family of 4 go through if they had to stay home for 2 weeks? SMH! One more thing for my anxiety ridden friends to stress about. A friend who is a manager at a local drug store says no one is buying regular soap, spray lysol, or liquid bleach. They only want hand sanitizer and powdered bleach. It is like everyone got allergic to water or something. I personally am not a fan of hand sanitizer. I find it sticky and smelly. I get sometimes it is the only option, but give me soap and water. As for the virus......I get my flu shot, I try to stay healthy, wash my hands, and keep pens out of my mouth. The rest is what it is. I refuse to add that fear into my life.
I am struggling with a few feelings right now. First, my MIL. She has slowly but surely pulled herself from all her friends, she has sold all her properties (one still up for sale), she isn't sleeping(I hear a lot of that), she isn't eating well. None of this is new, but is getting worse. She won't wear her hearing aids and can't hear. She goes to doctor, but won't take meds. I am MAD at her!!! I am MAD that she is stressing out her son! I am MAD that she won't change things that might help her. I don't know what to do......suggestions?
The second is work. This is probably just the "contolling" side of me. My sister in law half does things. She helps me by totalling invoices, but only some. She puts prices on some of the invoices for me to figure estimates. She calls some invoices. Grumble. Now......probably Just in my head.......I feel like she is judging why I have a hard time getting them done.....As I said....probably just in my head. I don't have the luxury of ignoring the customers while I am totalling bills. I get that the customers want to talk to me. I do know my mowers. It isn't going to change so just need to change my attitude. She left at 2 yesterday. We are going into Spring one mechanic short and I need help at front counter. This will be an interesting Spring.......attitude change is all that I can change. Husband concerned about a new shop in town. I said they spend a lot on advertising. They do things with the community. All i can do is make sure to treat all my customers fairly and ensure their units go out correctly repaired. I can't make changes to advertising or community involvement. Changes in attitude! I have y'all to help me with that.
Machka- I am trying to figure out how to get 8/8/8. I am excited to get 7.5 hrs sleep. I am working including transit 10 hrs most days. They didn't leave time for cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc. It would be utopia if we could manage 8/8/8.
Changes in attitude. Changes in latitude. (A little Jimmy Buffet)

I think people are preparing for the 2 months those in China have been in quarantine. If one family member gets sick, the illness goes for 2-3 weeks, then that person has to remain in quarantine for 14 days after the last symptom to make sure it's completely gone. Meanwhile another member of the family has to go into quarantine for 14 days until that member of the family gets it, the illness runs its course for 2-3 weeks, and that person has to remain in quarantine 14 days. By the time it's all done, a couple months have passed.
How much toilet paper would a family of 4 go through in 2 months?

Did Denise Austin Power Zone DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to take the water aerobics class.
Have a dentist appt to get started on the crown.
Rebecca – great chart. Really helps you see the trends
Kylia – (((HUGS))) I wish I had advice for you, but I don’t. Elderly people can be obstinate sometimes. I guess they feel life should be like it was. But everything changes.
Guess I’d better go finish breakfast and then go to the dentist. Not that I’m really looking forward to it.
Personally, I thought Jiminy Cricket came out pretty good, too

I have 2 DVD's that I be willing to sell to anyone for the price of the postage (in the US a little under $3). The first is Denise Austin Power Zone Vol. 1 and the other is Denise Austin Power Zone Vol II. The reason I'm selling them is because I didn't realize it, but these are a reissue of the original Denise Austin Power Zone DVD that I have. The one I have has both of these workouts together. I didn't realize that until I opened them.
Just PM me if you are interested.
