Evelyn Tough working out with DH not doing well! I pulled up your weather and it is not cooperating at all! A week of cold and rain doesn’t make it easier to get out and enjoy your bicycle. It’s hard to imagine what “getting out” in other areas is like. Being in a small town, I don’t think we feel the restrictions as severely as some in large cities. I can’t picture what Vancouver is like at this point (even though I have been there, it was so many years ago…) but it seems as though it was dense city surrounded by mountains. I enjoyed dancing in the living room yesterday. I guess the new normal is to find things to do inside.
Tere So sorry for the loss of your friend! This virus becomes more real with each person who passes. Also, your situation of not being able to have a funeral, makes it tougher to grieve. Sending prayers to you and his family!
Tracey Still looks like winter in Edmonton! We are getting much warmer here and snow is almost nonexistent with global warming. We used to have a few good snowstorms in winter, now we have a couple of inches which don’t stick around more than a couple of days.
Kylia Your butterfly coloring is beautiful! It put a smile on my face! The fridge sign is perfect!! I want to eat all day long…ugh! I know it is just too convenient. Also, I have more snack foods on hand to keep from running out of food.
Heather Your comment about washing hair and putting on makeup for skyping made me think. I have been doing my usual routine as if I were out and about (hair, makeup, getting dressed). I think there is some mental health benefit from continuing those practices as we go through this. Whatever little things we can do to make life seem more normal might help keep us from getting as stressed or depressed during this time!
Karen I love seeing how musicians are spending their spare time. The Vivaldi was great!
Machka March comic – LOL!
My crazy DH has been feeding the squirrels dear corn. He says, “You never know…we might need them for dinner one day.” Ick!
Hope everyone is doing okay and staying safe and healthy!!!

Well, finally charted my weight and the bad news is I'm up 1.6 lbs in March. sigh. On the bright side, given my lack of activity and my snacking, I'm only up 1.6 lbs for March! lol Today is the first day of a new month and I plan on turning that around. I can't go to the gym, but I shall be going for at least one walk every day, with or without hubby.
Luci, I'm not in Vancouver, I'm on Vancouver Island. I live in a "bedroom" community of Victoria, we're part of the greater Victoria area, but we are not in as densely populated an area as downtown, for instance. There is a recreational/commuter trail that we can access just a few blocks from our home so that is usually where we walk. It's well used, but people really do seem to be respecting the social distance thing. When I bike to work I am able to ride on it most of the way, which is great, I would not be able to ride on the roads! Your granddaughter is adorable!
Love the 2020 Easter basket!
Am truly enjoying the photos of babies, both furry and non, the scenery (Machka, your beach photos make me so envious!) and the funnies! Oh my, the funnies! Must print out the social distancing from the fridge one (close the f******g door!) The social distancing cat also cracked me up!
Tere, so sorry to hear about your friend.
Amber, so sorry to hear about your aunt.
Somebody had a concern about a dress they ordered for a granddaughter as it was packed in plastic and made in China. It should be fine, you've already let it sit for a considerable length of time, but if you are still concerned, carefully take it out of the plastic (preferably over the washer) and put it in with a load of laundry. The virus is fat based, this is why so much emphasis is placed on washing your hands with soap and water. The soap, be it on our hands or in the laundry, will break up the virus and basically kill it.
I was feeling kind of bummed as I wanted to get some wool and make a blanket for my grandson and hubby has asked for one too. Going to Michaels really seemed like a frivolous plan and then it occurred to me that I can order wool online! It was a bit of a smh moment! lol And I was able to find just what I wanted for dgs, I was looking for a variegated blue, Michaels had some, but just not quite what I had in mind, but Mary Maxim had just what I was looking for. Probably could have gotten something for hubby at Michaels but since I was ordering online anyway.... Was getting a little worried as I hadn't had a notice from them that it had been shipped, but I got that yesterday, it will take from 1 - 11 days to get here. And that's as close a timeline as I can get for right now. Oh well, I am embroidering a birth announcement for our granddaughter and as she will be a year old in May, I really need to get on it! I've been lax with it, but the last few days have been putting in a few solid hours and am really happy with the progress. It's going to be so cute when it's done!
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to any newbies.

Michele - Salt for the pool get it it falls under cleaning supplies which falls under for your safety category. A pool without the proper care can spread the virus. Get that Salt!
When I helped clean churches we wipes pews to cribs down back in the day. I went to some mega churches I said WOW how do you wipe so many peas? They laughed said they don’t. No need. So yeah I wonder how safe they are. One church that’s mega only 1 they cleaned the seats ,but admitted not the babies nursery!! Scares me this is why those practices aren’t old fashion y unnecessary like many have deemed over the decades. I applaud the churches who still wipe all they can down try to not leave any stone unturned.

I was excited to see I only had 25 posts to read then realized that I was still in March. There were 4 pages in April.
I did not weigh the entire month of March. I decided I’d better face the music today since two weeks of SIP wreaked havoc with my sugar fast. I actually lost over 4 lbs in March!
My son’s workplace finally shut down for two weeks.
I have never ever cut my own bangs or colored my own hair. I experimented yoday with blowing my bangs to the side. I may discover I like the no bangs look.
Michelle, there are lots of people who rely on takeout for meals, especially in cities where may may live in a room or apartment with no working fridge or stove. I consider myself privileged to have a big freezer and nice fridge where i can stock up. We are trying to limit our grocery trips to every two weeks.6 -
Had to go to the post office, then Vince used the ATM at the bank then went to WalMart. I swear, Vince must love the way I shop now. He’s the one who always wants to just go in, get what he wants, and go out. I was always the person who browsed, check prices, etc. Not now. I’m running down the aisles, grabbing what I need, many times grabbing two or three of something whereas before I would only have gotten one. SCORE! Vince found this liquid in the pool department called Chlorinated something that has the exact same formulation as bleach, no minimum. People aren’t buying it because they don’t realize that it’s bleach. It does have a higher concentration of this one ingredient, but we’re always looking for 8%. Most bleaches are only 6%. This is 10%. So we got 3 gallons of it. It’s even less expensive than the 8%.
Amber – we got four bags of the salt and three gallons of the bleach. So I think we should be fine as long as there isn’t any other problem with the pump
Found this recipe for ranch chicken bacon pasta. I’m going to try making it, maybe tomorrow. Hopefully, Jess and Vince will eat it and I can give them that instead of potatoes, etc. I try to think of something different, rather than plain old potatoes all the time
Drkatie – I didn’t think there was any place that DIDN’T have a fridge or stove! That is, unless you’re living in someone’s basement. But in that case, the person you’re renting from would have a fridge and stove.

Michele - I’m curious, what are the rules right now regarding parties where Denise lives? Here in Alberta you can have no gatherings over 15, even privately in your home. I expect that to change again this week. We seem to be a few days behind New Brunswick which has gone down to 5.
Canada has also restricted travelling from province to province. I could choose to go to the next province, but if I was planning on staying there I would need to self isolate for 14 days.
I have to go get groceries today. It’s been over a week since I was able to go and I wasn’t able to get everything then. I need to get things for my lunches because as of yesterday we are no longer allowed to order in. We can’t accept any items for our residents so it makes sense that we can’t accept items for ourselves. Since our girls have moved out we have gotten into the habit of deciding what is for supper each day and I would just stop and get what I needed that day. It’s worked for us and saved a lot of money as we were wasting too much before that. Now it is hard to decide what to buy in a weekly trip again.
Last night I watched the National news on our CTV station. They ended it in prayer, a priest and a rabbi wrote the prayer together and recited it standing 6 feet apart. They showed several photos of people doing window visits and such throughout the prayer. It was beautiful and eerie all at the same time.

Kedgeree was delicious! DH said it was even better than my son's. 525 calories though, but I've burnt 950 on exercise today. AF day for me . Hooray! I'm drinking AF pink wine. Low in calories.
I'm getting a big delivery of AF beer and a bit of wine tomorrow, so hope to stick to it a bit more often.

Still working on my 20 for 20. Met 85% of goals in March. Total for first quarter of the year is 84% met. One of the goals will be at 0% because of CoVid. I happy if I average over 75% of my goals each month!!

I planned this last night before I fell asleep.💖. Left over spaghetti sauce , 2 small meatballs cut up, 3 sliced tomatoes, fresh spinach leaves cut up, drizzled shiitake mushroom dressing, 2 slices of pepper jack cheese, all on 3 small street taco sized tortillas. I put olive oil on a pan, and got each side of the tortillas crisp in a 400' oven. Put fork holes in the tortillas so they wouldn't just bubble. It was magical! I ate a bunch of cucumbers in some saved pickle juice and shiitake mushroom dressing, to open my window.
I had planned one of those mug desserts, that Betty Crocker puts out. But not today! I am full, content, and will nurse my coffee instead.👍
Hugs all!

Tracey – Denise’s rules? As far as I know, it’s a stay at home order, no groups of 10 or more. Denise isn’t following that. I saw pictures that she posted on Facebook of a baby shower she went to and there were more than 10 people there. I’m surprised she is going to have it, since Maria has scleroderma and therefore a compromised immune system. I wouldn’t think she’d go. Oh well.. What do you mean “order in”? What’s the alternative? Are you supposed to only go into the stores? Does this mean like a pizza delivery?
Well, today’s goal met. Got the dusting done. I dusted things that I don’t think I’ve EVER dusted, like the top of our grandfather clock. Yes, I am BTD (bored to death)
Gonna go work on the last Diamond Dotz that I was going to do.

APRIL FOOLS' DAY CHEESEBURGER CAKE
1
(18 ounce) box white cake mix
3
egg whites (or as called for by your cake mix)
1⁄3
cup oil (or as called for by your cake mix)
1 1⁄3
cups water (or as called for by your cake mix)
1
(18 ounce) box brownie mix
1⁄4
cup water (or as called for by your brownie mix)
1⁄2
cup oil (or as called for by your brownie mix)
2
eggs (or as called for by your brownie mix)
5
sugar cookies (4 inches wide)
1
(16 ounce) can vanilla frosting
red food coloring
yellow food coloring
10
spearmint candy leaves
1⁄4
cup granulated sugar
1
(16 ounce) can milk chocolate frosting
DIRECTIONS
Heat oven to 350°F
Grease 2 8-inch layer cake pan.
Prepare the box of white cake mix and bake according to the recipe.
Cool on wire racks.
Invert cakes on rack after 15 minutes and let cool completely.
Prepare the box of brownie mix, and bake as directed in the 8 inch layer cake pan.
Cool for 15 minutes in pan, then invert and let cool completely.
"Tomato Slices" Place plain cookies on a wire rack set over wax paper.
Put about 1/2 cup vanilla frosting in a small saucepan.
Stir over low heat until melted and smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in red food coloring (and a bit of yellow if needed) until frosting is tomato colored.
Brush or spoon on top and sides of cookies.
Let stand at least 30 minutes until firm to the touch.
"Cheese" Spoon another 1/2 cup of vanilla frosting into a small bowl.
Stir in yellow food coloring (and a drop of red if needed) until cheese colored.
Cover to prevent drying.
"Lettuce" Sprinkle granulated sugar on a large sheet of wax paper.
Working with 1 at a time, place spearmint leaves on the sugar and fold wax paper over, so the candy is sandwiched between the sugar and the wax paper.
Roll with a rolling pin until flattened and edges are jagged.
The candy will become very sticky, but the sugar should help it release from the wax paper.
“Buns” Put remaining vanilla frosting in a medium sized bowl.
Stir in milk chocolate frosting and red and yellow food coloring, little by little, until frosting is the color of a hamburger bun.
Place one cake layer on a serving plate.
If well-rounded, best to cut off the hump, then put it upside down for the flat top.
Cover with frosting.
Arrange spearmint leaf "lettuce" on top and around edges of the bottom "hamburger bun".
Place brownie cake on top of the “lettuce” using spatulas.
Spoon "cheese" about 1 inch from edge of top of burger, letting some run down the sides.
Top with "tomato" slices.
If needed, now is the time to insert toothpicks through the brownie layer (leaving at least ¼” above the tomato cookies) to keep the cake layers from sliding off!
Take the cake layer that rose the most for the top “bun”.
Place cake on wax paper and frost with remaining bun colored frosting.
Lift onto tomato topped burger.
I would think that some rice krispies or crushed cookies would also make good "sesame seed"
I told you I was BTD

Michele - it must be hard knowing that Denise is not paying attention to the rules. Ordering in, a bunch of us at work use Skip the Dishes and have lunch delivered quite regularly because we only get a 1/2 hour lunch break.

Luci in WNC: I love the 2020 Easter Basket.
Peachy: Thanks for sharing “Caring common sense from a respiratory specialist.” You are absolutely right that we have to help one another.
DH[ got a phone call from his MS doctor today. I’ve always liked Dr. S, but this was exceptional in my experience. It is time for DH to have a check-up, but since that isn’t a good idea, his doctor called him. I’ve always had respect for this doctor but this call from him was unexpected and amazing.
I am rereading favorite books from my own shelves. Reading keeps me from snacking and gives me something to do.

We are not allowed to visit another household at all. Even family. No meetings of more than 2 people outside from different households and you have to stand 6 feet apart. No gatherings of any kind. No travelling to exercise, only locally. No playgrounds open.
For us it's fine, because we have a large house, plus a garden and quiet tree lined streets with the sea nearby. Our lives are much the same, minus the grandkids. We have local shops with fresh vegetables and artisan bread. I'm actually eating better than ever!
I know how hard it is for a great many, crammed into small areas with children and people they may not get on with. Or being completely isolated. There is a lot of concern about domestic violence. The homeless.
My personal worry is my younger son's finances, with their jobs cut in half, or worse, and an absolutely huge mortgage. I'm sure it keeps them awake at night. My son works in the restaurant and pub industry, which is teetering on disaster.
This is the same for everyone, everywhere. No one will come out of this unscathed.
On the good side, the sun is shining in Hove and our weather is set to warm up at the weekend. I will write tomorrow, I will exercise tomorrow, I will eat healthy food tomorrow, I will tell people I love them tomorrow. I will be thankful I am not leading the country.

Luci I got another Facebook request from you. I know it is not you. Thought you should know.1

Hello all: Sounds like everyone is making adjustments to this new way of life and I am sure things will continue to change. I am grateful that I live with DD on 10 acres so social distancing is pretty easy for us. I get to go outside 3 times per day to feed horses and goats. Our old horse has a hoof abscess so we have been spending time soaking her foot in Epsom salt solution twice a day. We will have to go out soon as we are almost out of senior feed for her.
We can call the co-op and they will have our order ready and put it in the truck so no need to go in.
We are doing our part for those on the front lines by providing housing for a traveling nurse who is working at Evergreen hospital in Kirkland. We have a small guest cabin on the other side of the barn that we renovated and she is staying there when not working. She is working lots of hours and we are glad to give her a quiet place to rest and relax. We don't see her often but when we do we stay on opposite sides of the driveway. She does work with COVID patients but is very safety conscious.
Amber and Tere - So sorry for your losses.
Amber - That choir where so many got sick is just about an hour away from us.
Karen in VA - Loved that Vivaldi video. What fun!
Margaret - Did you see the video of the priest in St. Paul giving communion to people in cars? He was going from one to another without changing gloves.
Michelle - We have a small one-room guest cabin that we rent out. I has a small fridge but no stove. There is however a microwave and a toaster oven. Also coffee pot and small crockpot.
Weeping cherry next to our driveway.
everyone take care, Sue in WA

Lisa: Thanks for the homemade bread recipe. I’m hoping to get some yeast on Friday (fingers crossed).
Karen: It feels so good to know that I have a Pal so close to me. I live in North Chesterfield right off of Providence Road. The Canterbury Rehab situation makes me sad. How awful to be leaving this world without your loved ones being able to be with you.
Kylia: You are right! “We are STRONG, CARING, SUPPORTIVE, and BEAUTIFUL women!”
Machka: Loved the Loc Nes Monster!
Heather: I know for sure that I have a mental list of all the things I would do if I could just stay home long enough. Well, I am at home and I still have a mental list of all the things I would do if…… I am dreading anybody wanting to Skype with me! My hair is a big mess! DH called his barber last night and asked him what he (the barber) was going to do about cutting his hair. They both had a great laugh as nobody knows when the barber will be open again or when our restrictions will be over.
SuziQ – Thank you for your positive thoughts! You are absolutely right! You are right on it about getting dressed. I find that I am not productive until I am fully dressed – bra and all- with my cup of coffee sitting at my dining room table with 2 laptops, 2 cell phones, 1 monitor, and 1 docking station. I’ve almost recreated my office. The only thing I have not done is incorporate my lunch break. I am just so thankful that I am able to telework.
Michele: You asked a great question regarding the letter. I am going to ask DH if I can see his. I had the same thought about what if you get stopped going to the grocery or drug store. I have a coworker whose spouse is a police officer. He said he is not going to be stopping people because it means he will need to go to court plus he has to stay 6’ away from everybody. So that means a little less than a mid size car length – go figure. Really would love to see a picture of the Aprils Fool Cake.
Luci: Your DH is right! At the rate things are going we really might be looking more to the good ole days! We are going to be vegetarians though.
Rita: I’d never seen a soft shell turtle. Thanks for the picture.

Still here. Coping by focusing on the present. One. Minute. At. A. Time.
Barbie: Thank you for getting us started for April. I'm glad you have the opportunity to dance at home.
SuziQ: I thank you for your daily gratitudes. So often you take the words out of my mind.
Karen in VA: Congrats on the new position. You will rock it.
Machka: Welcome to Rhody! Hearing Mr. Mars purr next to my head on the pillow every night in bed is one of my most cherished therapies.
Amber: Condolences to you. And also thanks for the Chris Mann You-Tube. His "My Corona" video has been shared with my friends and family.
Tere: Sorry for your loss.
My brother has spent last 6 nights in a hotel. He has a productive cough, no energy and high anxiety interfering with his sleep. He came back for about 8 hours yesterday. DH got ugly (he was just hangry), and DH bolted out the door. I was beyond depressed. I'm ready for this crazy train to reach the terminal.
DH has more good days than bad, but the bad dementia days are so emotionally draining, that it takes me a full day to recover. I have been reading "From Here to Eternity" a book that chronicles funerals around the world. Giving me a lot to think about.
Stay well friends. We can do this. Love you all.

"Right now I'm more inclined to go to a farmer's market for fruit and veg than a grocery store. At least a farmer's market is out in the open, spread out, not well attended (not like a grocery store), and fewer people are likely to have handled things. " I always squeeze the fruits and veges
But don’t you have to go to the grocery store anyway?
Michele NC
No, I don't go to the grocery store. Or I should say ... rarely. We get our groceries delivered and have done for almost 2 years now.
But we do go to a fresh fruit and veg shop or the little shop at the end of our road ... both are about half fresh fruit and veg + a few other things. They have much better fruit and veg than the main grocery stores. There's a market once a week nearby and we may end up going there as well.
