I haven't heard a word from either of my kids since last week when I was taking care of Taliah and driving Dan back and forth to work.. I always always called my parents daily to catch up and see how they were doing.. Ugh..7 -

Barbie: Thanks for keeping us going. I’m maintaining routine despite the changed times. Self isolating, but with the garden, and living in a pleasant quiet ares, we can walk outdoors and work on our garden.
Did a 35 minute HIIT session before breakfast, then a walk with hubby round the neighbourhood. It’s showery today so we did get a little wet. The sun is out now so I will transplant the lettuce that I sowed a fortnight ago and sowing some more.
For all those essential workers still going out there....
🙏🏻 Thank you for your service 🙏🏻
Everyone else, please stay home!!!

What is it with this lockdown I normally do my exercise routine every morning no problem Lately looking for excuses not to do them This morning looked at my YouTube stuff and did a half hour line dancing session. Might do some more this afternoon burn a few more calories.
Rang my DB earlier, they seem to be coping well, able to get out for walk everyday. They live near Llandudno in Wales where the goats are running around LOL
Scared to get on the scale, too much cake and gin I don’t normally drink at home but what the heck this situation is unprecedented LOL
DH has planted seeds which are sprouting
There is a lot of community help in our area, Liverpool is renowned for its friendly helpful people.
I haven’t been out much but DH goes for his newspaper every day, I wish he wouldn’t but he goes very early in the car, meets nobody and washes his hands as soon as he comes in, I wipe door handles light switches taps etc every day with bleach solution.
About to watch the news keep safe everyone

Viv in the UK - happy birthday!Lisa went to the website but no near councils came up for our zip code 97415?
Notes in the spoiler:Barbara - you can always put in 72212 - the zip of my council. I assume you went to the cookie page? Apparently your nearest council is headquartered in Seattle! It doesn't matter which zipcode you choose, unless you happen to want to help out a troop or council near you. They can ship right to your door.
Michele - if you want to be nice to your hubby (who I know is a Girl Scout cookie freak), you can go to https://www.girlscouts.org/en/cookie-care.html and order some for him.
For anyone - if you don't want cookies to come to your house, you can also donate cookies to troops overseas through that same portal.
Hopefully MFP won't ding me for it, since it's a nonprofit, but oh well... haven't had my hand slapped for more than a year. If I disappear, it was in a good cause...
Done with the elliptical, cooling down. Am taking tomorrow off because it's my birthday. I will be 60. I burst into tears yesterday because for some reason it hit me that I'll now be in the coronavirus endangered range. I'm aware that's not actually true--I'm incredibly healthy, no risk factors except my age. I did not think it would bother me, no birthday since my 25th has. I know it's all wound up with my husband being 50, and the gap seems wider, and it's exactly what it's always been. I'm apparently a goober under all this equanimity. Who knew?
Later, y'all,
Love,

Yesterday morning
We made great progress!

Karen enjoyed Coldplay tune and choir thank you!
SuzieQ agree with what you said in your spoiler. It has felt like that to me too.
This is the first world wide epidemic in our lifetime. The Spanish flu was about 100 years ago. I wish I had thought to talk to my aunts about it. My mom being a baby had no memory of it.3 -
Hair ... fortunately my style lasts me a long, long time. I usually get it cut about once a year, maybe twice if it is annoying me a bit. I got it cut just before things started closing down here. And I home dye it ... I bought more dye just before things started closing down too, so I'm all set whenever I want to do that.PS: Many here are new to remote working and are still adapting. Here are some suggestions for making it an easier transition.
- Dedicate a spot in your home for work. This helps to distinguish between your work life and your home life. If you cannot dedicate a spot - turn off the laptop and put it away. If you are using a desktop find a sheet or box to put over it at the end of your work day.
- Stick to your routines. Eventually we will all (G willing) go back to our places of employment. Get up at your normal time and complete all of the normal things you would do in the morning.
- If you are normally on the road for 30 minutes use the 30 minutes to do something. Eventually you will be commuting again. You do not want to have a week or two of adjusting back to a commute schedule.
- Get dressed. One does not have to wear a standard work uniform. Changing out of yoga pants back in to yoga pants does not assist with transitioning from home to work life. I live in Florida where summer is on its way. My remote uniform is a pair of shorts and shirt (and, yes, a bra - well, maybe 3 days a week - LOL!).
I think I mentioned that I've got half the table set up for home and half for work. At the end of my work day, I turn off my work computer.
If all goes well, I'd prefer to keep working from home and not have to commute 1.5 hours a day. I like spending an extra 30 minutes sleeping! I like being home in daylight. I like being able to go out for a walk to the beach at lunch.
But I do have to make my presence known at roughly my usual time in the morning and converse via email etc. on and off throughout the day ... so that part of my routine is relatively normal.
I do get dressed ... from pyjamas to my usual at-home attire: stretchy pants and a tank top ... and back again. I'm not putting on a dress! I also change from stretchy pants and tank top to exercise wear when I go downstairs to run/walk, row or ride the bicycle and sometimes when I go outside to walk too. And I've got tops handy if I am going to be zooming, skyping etc. So I've got 3 or more outfits on the go!
However, it has been a bit of an adjustment. It is a little bit distracting at home. My husband forgets that I'm working ... and there's a kitty.
Amber, Tere, Karen and Allie ... so sorry about the people in your lives who have passed away.

7 pages already! You'd think that with being home and having a little extra time in my day (due to no commute) that I'd be able to keep caught up, but I'm still way behind. I have to say though, it feels like I'm doing more work at home than I ever did at the office. Some of that is just because things take a little longer to do working at a small desk on a 15" laptop as compared to a large desk with a desktop computer and multiple screens at the office. And some of it is actual extra work. Had a rough day yesterday trying to do some quarterly reports that I've never done before (part of my additional duties with the new position). I was trying to work from some written procedures but they were incomplete and very hard to follow. I'll be updating those as soon as I get a chance - adding it to my list of things to do.
I've been able to stay mostly back on track with logging, exercising and eating as best as possible. The grocery stores here are starting to be limited on some things so we've been making do with what we can find. So far we're all still healthy though DH and DD are still going in to work every day, which concerns me a little.
Need to get some work done - hoping today will be an easier day.

OK, I did Number 9 on March 29 ...And this is similar to our Gratitude Calendar that we've done in Novembers.
Coping Calendar: Keep Calm. Stay Wise. Be Kind.1. Make a plan to help you keep calm and stay in contact.
Part of my plan is to stay home more days each week. I'm getting stuff done, spending time with my husband, and avoiding the crowds.
Today I'm particularly happy because I've been able to spend the whole day at home getting a bit of extra rest, listening to classical music on ABC, and working on my uni homework while my husband has been busy doing stuff in the kitchen.
In a hour and a half or so, I'll go downstairs to exercise. We would go outside, but it has been a rainy day so we've been cozy inside.
2. Enjoy washing your hands. Remember all they do for you.
They do a lot of typing ...which reminds me that I should also wipe down my keyboard more regularly. But I do actually like washing my hands. With my hot flashes, and with exercise, my hands are often quite damp. Washing with soap dries them up a little.
Last weekend I also did my nails with 5 different pastel colours of gel nailpolish.
3. Write down 10 things you feel grateful for and why.
10 Things
1. My comfortable home with its garden and view of the bay.
2. My husband and the fact that, despite the severity of his brain injury, he has made a "remarkable recovery".
3. The support of my parents even over long distances.
4. University ... which is keeping me occupied.
5. Work ... which is keeping me occupied.
6. Cycling ... which keeps me fit.
7. Music ... which I've been listening to a lot.
8. Internet ... with which I keep connected.
9. New audio visual system which is keeping us entertained.
10. God ... who is still in control.
4. Stay hydrated, eat healthy food, and boost your immune system.
I have to drink a lot of water to keep my kidneys in good shape. I do try to eat a fairly healthy diet as well.
5. Get active. Even if you're stuck indoors, move and stretch.
Absolutely!! Every day! On that note, I'm up to 352 flights of stairs in March. Each flight is 20 stairs.
6. Contact a neighbour or friend and offer to help them.
We don't see much of our neighbours, but do kind of watch out for one.
And right now my work colleagues (and friends) and I are helping each other move home.
7. Share what you are feeling and be willing to ask for help.
What am I feeling. It's a real mix. I'm happy I'm working from home and taking uni online. But this week I've been fighting back tears from time to time. Moving home made it real.
Our lives have changed and the changes will keep coming for months ahead.
Also, the beginning of the week (Mar 22) was the 2-year anniversary of my husband's accident so ... memories.
8. Take 5 minutes to sit and breathe. Repeat regularly.
I'll do that tomorrow, I think.
It's Friday night and this week has been a little overwhelming. Last weekend I was madly working on an assignment. Submitted it on Monday + intense week at work.
A good night's sleep and I'll be able to breathe a little bit more in the morning.
9. Call a loved one to catch up and really listen to them.
I'm not good at calling people ... a little bit of a phone phobia. But I email lots!
March 30
10. Get good sleep. No screens?? Well some nights I read a paper book. I am working on getting more sleep and better sleep, but lately I've been tense at night again.
March 31
11. Notice 5 things that are beautiful in the world around me. That's easy!!- Rhody
- Roses ... and BTW, Rhody is the Greek word for Rose
- The beach
- The waves crashing against the rocks
- Green ... nature
April 1
12. Immerse yourself in a new book, TV show or podcast.
I don't do podcasts and the TV shows I watch are "old" ... but I have started a new-to-me book.
April 2
13. Respond positively to everyone you interact with.
Today has been a good day for that. We nipped out to get a few things this afternoon and talked pleasantly to the checkout people.

Stew ,tea with freash oranges in it.’c y unknown snack tonight. Exercise y cleaning. My house now smells permanently of bleach.
Wipe with bleach water let it air dry to kill the virus they say. Hubby plopped stuff from outside world on my kitchen cabinets y he took a shower so was a big job since it had a grass trail too for some reason lol 😆.
6.6million file for unemployment many in this boat around the world. Many company owners cannot file for it most areas (not sure about other cities to states). Hard times for all. They really need to do a world wide stop on paying rent y mortgages without it ever be penalized or collected later. It’s what they did in the past in certain countries in such a distant past it may be lost in a book in the garbage heap or a museum storage room. Looks like this is what’s needed that y ration cards if this hours on past May. Electric y water needs to be temporarily free with the government paying the workers .

Barbara, I gave serious consideration to creating a line dance class on Zoom and decided against it. First, I don't have a camera in my computer so I'd have to buy a webcam and figure out how to install and use it. Second, I'd have to pay for a Zoom account since the free one kicks you out after 40 minutes. Third, I am enjoying the freedom of a schedule that is more flexible. Fourth, my husband is enjoying the fact that I am home and available to him except for morning dog walking. Only four people have suggested an online line dance class--you, two others on this thread who are not dancers, and one of my students who just returned from the winter in Arizona and didn't dance all winter. That's not exactly a groundswell of demand.
I have not lost sight of how fortunate and privileged I am. My husband is alive and well in spite of being in the extreme high risk demographic. He is good company and takes constant stock of his actions and makes amends when he is snippy with me. We have a modest pension that is paying for all our essentials. We live in a community that allows me to walk as much as I want. I live in a town that has grocery stores that are being restocked with the supplies we need. I have access to all the books I could possibly want via my library's online resources for e books and audio books and PaperBack Swap for getting print books (I have three books coming to me, two coming to my walking friend, and I've mailed two books to others who have requested them from me). I am able to connect with groups of friends locally and away via Zoom meetings that are being facilitated by them. I have hobbies that keep me occupied for more hours than I have available for them. I have long had a spiritual practice and set of spiritual tools that provide me with means to stay calm in this time when so many are afraid.
Ii love my opportunity to be connected to all of you every day. Thank you for being here.

Had a long and lovely chat with my yoga friend.
My DDIL said that Edie is finding it hardest to deal with this situation. She is sad. She is the people person out of the three.
Just waiting for my Spinach and Feta Pie to come out of the oven. I've done some potatoes for DH in the IP and I'm going to make some coleslaw with leftover veggies.
Must do some rowing for my bonus calories. AF today.

Hi! You may remember me from last year! I am back on track hopefully! I have been reading the posts and am caught up!
Amber My husband and I are retired and on a fixed income. We rent our house out to supplement our income. We really need our renter in order to pay our bills! It’s bad enough that the government ordered no eviction for people who don’t pay rent! What about us, we have bills related to the house they are renting...11 -
Terewilliams & Felicia: I cut my own bangs the other day. It isn’t as good as my hair dresser could do, but I can see out from under them and they look okay. Beauty shops here in OR are closed for now, by order of the Governor. :ohwell:
Heather: I think that you and I are very close to the same age. I don’t consider either of us elderly yet. I’ll admit to being elderly when I’m past 90 and disabled.
Viv: So happy that your friend was able to wish you Happy Birthday and left a package for you.
Terri: Good to see your post. I envy your garden. Mine is very tiny, but loved by me. The blueberries are leafing out and I haven’t planted beans yet.
Margaret: You are right that this is the first world wide epidemic of our lifetimes. I hope it goes away and doesn’t return. :noway:
Barbie: I am happy to be connected with this group on a daily basis. You make each new month an accessible reality. Thank you!!!
Rori: Thinking of you and sending good wishes your way.
My plan today is to walk the dog and read. I’ll touch bases here, too. It is currently overcast but not raining. I want to get our terratryke (recumbent tricycle) set onto the trainer so that we can burn calories in the comfort of our garage. It will require some effort to declutter and get things set up.

Katla I think it depends how we handle it and what we learn from it. I just learned this morning. 10 million trees are used to make that scarce TP. Made me stop and think. South Korea are doing a better job this time because they learned from SARS.
I learned this on Mysteries at the Museum during WWl the signal the soldiers used to put on their gas masks was a soldier was in charge of watching a small group of slugs. The slugs would react to the gas and when the soldier saw this he would give the signal to put on the gas masks. As is now wearing these masks constantly unless you are working as a doctor in the thick of it is not practical. Someone said and they are right it is not easy to breathe through the N-95 masks.
My point in telling this story is perhaps it is time to pay more attention to nature. 10 Million trees something seems wrong with this picture to me.
These are some of the lessons I think we need to learn.5 -
Hello Peeps!
Barbie - your post touched me. I feel much the same as you. We are at peace with everything happening right now, we have done the best we can to weather this, come what may. We are blessed beyond expectation.
Barbara - your comment about your local farm vendors made me realize why I like our farmer's markets so much. It's not just the produce - I always look forward to socializing a little with the vendors if they have time and usually run into people I haven't seen for a while. Hopefully it will continue this summer, we can do do some social distancing and still gab in the parking lot!
Rebecca - your meal looked yummy!! So glad OMAD is working for you! These days I'm doing the best I can to maintain 12:12, some days are easier than others. Can still fit in my favorite pants which is a victory.
Regarding hugs - I've been reminiscing about some of the best hugs of my life. Many of the folks aren't around anymore (parents, grandparents) or live far away. It's been rewarding revisiting those memories and feelings. And there's DH and the dogs of course.
Regarding haircuts - I've been blessed/cursed with naturally curly hair and 3 or 4 cowlicks, lol. I was always re-cutting it when I'd get home from the salon. I finally decided to just do it myself, having watched the professionals for years and taking note of the good ones. DH runs the clippers over his head and trims his own beard/mustache once a month, has done so for years.
Regarding senior shopping hours - After my experience a few weeks ago at our local Safeway when senior shopping hours meant packed parking lot and packed store with the most vulnerable jammed together like the day before Thanksgiving, I called our Grocery Outlet to inquire if they had "senior shopping". So I could avoid the store during that time. The gal at the store said they decided against it for the reason I mentioned (no ability to social distance) and recommended coming between 9 and 10 when there were few people in the store if I had concerns.
Regarding others offering to shop for us - being elderly Heather and Katla - yep, we aren't elderly. 90+ and/or disabled are elderly in my book as well. We have lots of young people offering to shop for us - I've told them we are OK, if quarantined for some reason then we'll take them up on it. Will make my quick trip to town tomorrow morning before most of the population wakes up.
Make it a great day, dear ones. Get some fresh air if you can.

Katla - Over 70s are at much higher risk of serious complications and death from COVID19 than younger people. The graph goes up like a rocket! However, a lot of over 70s have other risk factors, which currently I do not. I am hopeful I would not have it seriously. Nevertheless I count as vulnerable. But not extremely vulnerable, according to the government. That's why I can't get a supermarket delivery at the moment as they are reserved for those on the government's list.
Just done my bonus rowing and biking. Total, 900 calories for the day.
I had a good day. I wrote, I spoke to my yoga friend, I cooked a savoury pie and I got my bonus calories done. I also enjoyed all your posts. I ordered the grandchildren 's Easter present from Amazon - a globe that lights up at night to show constellations. Plus a picture book about the stars.
Rori - I think about you such a lot. I have no words really. Just hugs.

We are so fortunate to be isolated during the CoVid outbreak here at the park. No need to go stir crazy inside.

Sarah - That’s why they need to stop mortgages, electric, gas,y water bills so you y me as renters don’t have those costs either! The food ration tickets would be for food to tp for us .Right now my hubby can’t find regular work our tenants either they cannot pay us we have a mortgage they are good tenants who normally would pay on time even in advance. When this is over we don’t want them or us to be in debt cause we both wouldn’t be able to pay 💰 the penalties, interest,or missed payments! Can’t be just 1 of what I listed it needs to be ALL that I listed so no one gets screwed. We’re going without our meds tenants can’t pay y works dried up so if temporary debt forgiveness with ration cards was implemented with zero bank penalties or reposition we’d be in a better boat than we are now. It’s actually been done in the pasta to save the economy y people during pandemics of the past in some countries. Amber Tx

Like some here I gained 1.2 pounds during the month of March. I came across this on FB this morning. If I had a printer I would stick it on my refrigerator.
SuziQ who is getting back on track! I must put me before all even this darn virus! Covid19 has derailed us enough, I'm not going to let it derail my progess.9 -

Am I joined by typing a comment here? I'm from Iowa. Still working, apparently insurance is critical. My husband is laid off. My gym like most everything is closed. So I am walking outside a mile and walking inside a mile with air squats and pushups and occasional elyptical instead of walking. I find with the stress of all I am wanting carbs all the time. Starting today getting them back under 50 and then down to 30 or so. Those are my goals. Reading your goals will hopefully help keep me motivated. My motto: my body will achieve what my mind believes9
