January 31 more medical papers . Yup my Doctor told me about it back then even. Our city a military city we took in case 1 case back in January.

Neither of these show it has been in San Antonio for 3 months... in fact, the first link from the San Antonio Health Department specifically says that it first was brought to the U.S. to Washington on 1/15 (less than 3 months ago still), and that the test was done 1/20, case confirmed on 1/21. Even if San Antonio was in Washington, it is still a bit shy of 3 months.

Lynn January 15th in Seattle not 19th. I’m counting the next week in my head then . Almost 3months we took in a case they found after discovering that one for Doctors to try figure this stuff out at a medical military facility here. They were doing great at containing it until more cases were being delivered in large numbers to the base.

We should do the same=we should come out of "stay at home"?

Also, I don't get the 3 month claim and the idea we can assume San Antonio has "had it already" or early or otherwise has herd immunity. Today=April 7. 3 months ago=Jan 7.

Timeline of known coronavirus cases in the US (and related news):

(1) Jan 20: The first confirmed cases outside mainland China occurred in Japan, South Korea and Thailand, according to the World Health Organization’s first situation report. The first confirmed case in the United States came the next day in Washington State, where a man in his 30s developed symptoms after returning from a trip to Wuhan.

(2) Jan 26: There were 5 known coronavirus cases in the US, all who had traveled to Wuhan during the outbreak. They were in (1) LA, (2) Maricopa Co., AZ, (3) WA, (4) Orange Co, CA, and (5) Chicago.

(3) Jan 30: First known human-to-human transmission in the US occurred, woman who had been to Wuhan to husband in Chicago, IL. At the time, there were 6 confirmed cases in the US, 92 additional people were being tested, and 68 people tested due to connections to the known cases had tested negative (including 21 in IL).

(4) Feb 1: Quarantine of US soldiers being withdrawn from high risk areas began, including in San Antonio, BUT "Feb. 8: None of the 91 people quarantined at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland had shown signs of the novel coronavirus since their arrival, according to U.S. Rep. Will Hurd who tweeted out an update."

(5) Feb 5: Diamond Princess quarantine begins (not in US, but involving some US citizens).

(6) Feb 9: US reports 9th coronavirus case (none in San Antonio).

(7) Feb 12: Positive test from one of those under quarantine in San Antonio (note: under quarantine, what did not happen with most or perhaps any US travelers to China or Italy, even when they were being required to return due to fear that the location they were in was having an outbreak).

(8) Feb 14: France announces first coronavirus death in Europe (of Chinese tourist).

(9) Feb 17: A bunch of quarantined patients from the Diamond Princess joined the quarantine in San Antonio.

(10) Feb 19: People believed to be unaffected (not ones sharing cabins with positive testing people) were permitted to leave the Diamond Princess.

(11) Feb 20: 90 Diamond Princess quantinees in San Antonio permitted to leave (to go all over the US) on the basis they had been medically cleared. Some others remained (again, in quarantine, and eventually tested positive).

(12) Feb 21: Known US cases increase to 35, with return of at least 18 known positive Diamond Princess passengers. CDC said no known community spread yet.

(13) Feb 23: Italy sees major surge in coronavirus cases and starts to lockdown towns.

(14) Feb 29: US has first known coronavirus death (in Seattle). Also outbreak in nursing home near Seattle becomes known and WA declares state of emergency.

(15) March 2: First case in New Rochelle, NY discovered.

(16) March 5: NY cases at 22.

(17) March 8: NY at 105 cases

(18) March 9: Chicago gets first case that looks like possible community spread.

(19) March 10: 108 cases in New Rochelle, NY identified, more than half connected to the person identified on 3/2.

(20) March 11: At least in Chicago metro, everything starts being cancelled, including theater performances, conferences, the St Patrick's Day Parade (Europe was a bit ahead of us, including Ireland).

(21) March 15: CDC recommends no gatherings of more than 50 in US.

(22) March 18: Rumor in Chicago that stay at home order is expected begins, and then Oak Park, IL announces plans for stay at home order. Stay at home order is announced on March 20.

(23) March 23: San Antonio has 57 cases, and 16 believed to be community spread. The first death in San Antonio was announced on 3/22. Mayor issues stay at home order.

(23) April 1: TX has almost 4000 cases and 58 deaths, gov relents and issues stay at home order.

I hope by "we should do the same" you mean continue with physical distancing etc once wherever you are is at a point where spread is under control, not that you think that stay at home orders should end now.

Yeah, going to disagree with you there. Some things should be carried forward, in terms of hygiene practices. Like, now that we all finally know how to wash our hands properly, sneeze and cough into elbows, etc. But as far as I'm aware (did not read the article you linked), China aren't advocating that people maintain a 6 foot distance from each other for the rest of eternity, because, well, that's absurd. Those things need to be in place until such point that there is a vaccine, and enough people have received said vaccine, that we're not going to see another flare up of COVID-19. That's essentially the approach New Zealand will also be taking until a vaccine is available - tight border controls, distancing, etc. It's a no brainer that that will be necessary for any country/region that doesn't want to repeat the cycle all over again.

Yes, there are currently over 503 cases in Bexar County. Not sure why you think (if you do) that that's inconsistent with my timeline.

Recall the prior claim, which you seemed to be supporting, was that the novel coronavirus had been running rampant in the US from Jan or before, so we probably (or areas with low tests probably) had herd immunity. The stats in San Antonio (or in Chicago, where I live) don't suggest herd immunity to me.

From the SA Express-News today:

"6:15 p.m. | Confirmed COVID-19 cases shot up, with a total of 503 San Antonio area residents testing positive for the virus, Mayor Ron Nirenberg said at Tuesday’s briefing. Of those, 150 patients were infected by community transmission, while 179 cases were attributed to “close contact,” such as catching the virus from a family member. Travel-related cases totaled 124, while 50 cases remain under investigation, meaning the source of infection hasn’t been determined. On Tuesday, 88 were hospitalized. Of those patients, 51 remained in intensive care, while 40 were on ventilators.

2:30 p.m. | Five more residents of Southeast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center have died after contracting coronavirus, bringing the total there to eight, city officials said Tuesday. One other person separately died of complications from the virus, bringing the city’s overall death toll to 18....

4:00 a.m. | City and Bexar County hospital officials are gearing up to care for an increasing number of COVID-19 patients. Tents and trailers have been placed outside emergency rooms, staffers are being trained and reassigned from their normal duties, and facilities are being overhauled for COVID-19 patients. At Freeman Coliseum, a space normally used for concerts and events, hundreds of cots await possible overflow from hospital."

So no, I don't see evidence that people think the community has been affected already and has herd immunity. Nor do the deaths or hospitalizations to date support that.

I never said theirs herd immunity not sure where you got that from. We do have cases that are community spread but that’s not herd immunity. I don’t believe you can have herd immunity with this strain even with a vaccine. I think we had deaths that got labeled wrong to cases that may have had mild or fewer symptoms even ones that tested negative but had it slipped through the cracks..that’s not herd immunity we wouldn’t have New York with such high numbers if there was herd immunity possibilities.

I didn’t know about the Coliseum having cots. My husband did work on one of the hospitals recently to add another X-ray room.

I got a question the kids are all doing the computer classes will that even count to their grades or graduation even? Hearing conflicting stuff each article contradicts another in it.

If we had heard immunity we wouldn’t have so many plus one of our grocery store
H-E-B their workers are being diagnosed with it at an alarming rate

If there was herd immunity why would I be at home stay before the Govenor issued it for over a month now. I have immune deficiencies y health problems I’m the reason you guys are staying home to protect .Thankyou to everyone who is staying home it’s saving folks like me y my baby 👶

This seemed to be suggesting that San Antonio had had CV-19 since Jan 7 and had herd immunity (the post you were saying "Very possible" to suggested there was no need to stay at home in their town since they had all had it in Jan (which is exceptionally unlikely, especially given the location and even given your location, which was the point of my timeline).

My English isn’t perfect neither is my spellings. I try my best tho. Thankyou for helping me Lemur so I understand now why I got misunderstood.I was waiting for Daughter to text back to tell me why I wasn’t being understood.

My Son Emilio only just turned 3yrs old in March /Daughter is 20 on a Base in California a month ago when I texted her that I was isolating she wrote back the base already gave them orders not to leave at all. February 24th we went to a Chuckie Cheese I did see hazmat suits at apartments on the way back. Lots of military off base live in it. I isolated immediately that afternoon have only came out 1x for groceries when hubby hurt his back . I texted her she said they couldn’t leave base except a very select few for classes only. She got a mask finally yesterday hand sewn for her Star spangles on it. Not sure how safe it is seen things saying cloth masks are good others say it isn’t but it’s all she has. I worry cause her areas hit hard outside of the base. I do not understand hooked up but I know she has a mask a nurse gave it to her who gets food with her.

Kriss Thankyou- Half of what daughter says I can’t understand she says letter or weird words instead of what I know gets aggravating .I told her to wear a mask!

I told her Coronovirus like all of them spreads similar you cough or sneeze 🤧 without a mask everyone gets a strain of it from a this one to colds even flus. But no she no listens my father no listens.My whole family except for hubby no listens to my warning to wear a mask cause the tv said not to they believe it over Mom! I told her no cell phone except in her quarters but no she ignores me texted from the NEX base store!
