Well, this week was not the best for me goal wise. I don't know if this whole situation is like the stages of grief or what, but I was just really annoyed and angry this week. I also think I'm PMSing which would explain those feelings also along with my constant hunger. I'm also super bloated - fun! Ha ha. I think my weight will go down once I finally start.
Anyway, sorry I haven't kept up with this thread. Or tracking my daily food intake really. Work is busy and this week flew by. I kind of feel like I'm just in this monotonous survival mode right now. Nothing fun to look forward to on the weekends, but at least the weather is nice so I'll get more long walks in with my pup.
Take care and stay healthy, everyone!10 -
Hey everyone. Weighing in has been so depressing- something weird is going on as I weighed 200.3 (!) last Friday, and now I apparently weigh 204. I've just been at this for months now and have seen no progress whatsoever, I know I haven't been perfect but I've made so many positive changes that I thought might be reflected on the scale (running 4x a week, cutting out alcohol).
Oh well. I know by now how hard this is for me- I have struggled greatly with weight loss since having kids, the things that worked for me so successfully don't seem to work anymore. Sitting around the house isn't helping either. Although I'm lucky to remain active since we have a horse farm and I also have a treadmill at home, I am spending a lot more time in the house with my kids as I try to telecommute- the kitchen is always open and I feel as if everyone is snacking more. Also- fresh foods are a bit scarcer in our household since we are minimizing trips to the grocery store. This results in eating more junky carby type of snacks.
I guess I am glad I am still here even if I'm not losing weight. This experience could be a lot worse for weight gain if I wasn't here - logging my food and remaining committed to exercise.
I'm going to take it day by day. Today- I will do yoga and get a run in. I will log my food and avoid junky snacks. I've got a grocery pickup planned, so there should be lots of healthier food available.11 -
I was sure I wouldn’t make my mini-goal because I was 2.2 lbs heavier yesterday morning than this morning, but I did - I am at 184.6 this morning, which makes me “overweight” rather than “obese” for BMI purposes as I turn 49(!!) 30 more lbs to go for a “healthy” BMI which is my tentative goal.
Weight loss has definitely slowed and been more sporadic over the past few months. Partly my choices and stress but also certain things that worked before are not working as well. I was excited to have a little victory during this period to keep me excited about the next 6 months, which is how long I anticipate the next 30 lbs to take.
Posting a comparison shot for September 2019 and April 2020. I feel so much better!! And am so grateful for this group. Monthly goals,
weekly check-ins, support and your friendship is what made this time different. Hugs to you all!!

Good morning Happy Friday! Welcome to all the new people! Warning - long post
@aliciap0116 wow! Just wow! Amazing transformation! I am so glad the scale went down for you! Great Job! So inspiring! I have been wanting to get an air popper for popcorn! Send me a message on which one you got! So many choices for them.
@sharpdust welcome back! You have a good plan in place, but be kind to yourself during this time!
@orangequilt prelogging is a great tool! I create a daily plan and log the food. It really helps to have it in there already and I am less likely to fall off plan. Don't get me wrong, these last few weeks have been rough and I have gone off the plan quite often but I think it would have been worse if I didn't create the plan first.
@KeriA hope your daughters interview went well. I would love to have a freezer to store meat! Sorry it broke, but it sounds like it was positive for your meals this week! Kittens on a leash...sounds cute!
@Erica122093 that is a great non scale victory...hearing someone say they can tell I lost weight is the best! And clothes fitting better is just a great motivator..great job! 13 lbs lost is awesome!
@lilann1961 I hear ya on the alcohol...I have had several friends call me while "wining" lol It is tempting and I have had a couple here and there, but I just keep telling myself it's not necessary to get through this and try to find other things to do when I have the urge! Please vent away!
@changeforeverlj I know it is tough right now. I am not getting much sleep either and it just weighs you down literally. Hang in there!
@MuttiNM looks like you are doing all the right things...it will show up soon on the scale!
@torihudson6 way to go to saying no to a snack you would turn to! It's really a big thing to say no, you should be proud. Late night snacking is a difficult thing to tame. Just like @AlexandraFindsHerself1971 does, I designate some calories for a nighttime snack. Popcorn is a great filler upper! I also put lemon pepper on mine like @speyerj!
@CupcakeCrusoe you are very positive about your journey and living your life! I love the bike rides with the baby! I went for bike ride with my 12 yr old and thought I was going to die lol!
@Tarzan37 I hear ya! My emotions are all over the place during this thing. I am in menopause so no PMsing but the hormones are all over the place! Hang in there!
@shorepine I know you are so frustrated about the scale. But my goodness you are exercising and working so hard so don't stop! It will show up some day...it has to! Do your best to be kind to your self and continue to be proud that you do work hard and you are handling a lot right now!
Today is my weigh in day. I did have a small loss and I am happy with it! I have been staying in calories for the most part, but not eating the greatest...lots of snacking and bread lol I usually include bread anyway...but have been going a little over board with it and other snacks.
I have walked everyday but one this week which I am happy with. I have not been using my workout room and hope to get in there more next week. The walks have been therapeutic for me so I am happy to just get that in if anything. I listen to a podcast (mostly phit and phat) while I walk and I feel refreshed when I return with new ideas to stay on track and get my mind straight!

You look great Alicia! I love that you are wearing the same outfit in both pics! Congratulations on being overweight! It's an arbitrary designation and yet one that's really meaningful too.
And congratulations Margie on losing 40 pounds! That's great!5 -
Hey everyone, I joined last night and just finished reading through the whole thread. Your attitudes are definitely inspiring and I’m looking forward to being a part of this community! I’m going to go through and add y’all as friends, because the more support the better, but if you see this before I add you (or if I miss someone!) please add me! 😃14

@Svm569 Yes I want my head in the game too. I am in the healthy game but I need to get in the weight loss and fitness game more. If not now when else am I going to have a chance to do it. I miss aquafit.
@CucpakeCrusoe I finally gave in and got some candy in the house for Easter.
@Erica122093 a good physical is something to feel good about. Nice!
@Tarzan37 I wish a very nice weekend for you.
@shorepine I like that being disappointed with weigh in day didn’t keep you from some good healthy plans for the day!
@aliciap0116 Congrats on making your mini goal but going from obese to overweight isn’t mini. Very nice! You do not look overweight in your picture either.
@mmccloy I decided that 2 Easter kittens are better than 1 Easter bunny. Glad you had a loss this week and losing 40 lbs in all!
@Lasmartchika Yay!
I almost went to Starbuck's drive thru today. We used to have a special Fridays breakfast when we were working. However I haven't quite gotten used to wearing a mask and decided to just have a stupid fruit and nut bar with coffee. Any way I got over it. Today I pushed it as long as I could on my Gazelle, only 15 minutes. I listened to a phit_n_phat blog. I was going to make my homemade spaghetti sauce but we had to do some errands (I got used to the mask) instead so we had leftovers. We decided we are going to have steak for Easter dinner. It is only the 3 of us. My husband makes the best pan fried steak so I do not have to cook. My weight is down but not lower than my last low yet.
I realize I am starting to miss that feeling of accomplishment that my job gave me. I have to rest in the idea that by staying home and helping my family to stay home I am doing more than it feels like I am doing - keeping them and others safer and healthier.
I went through the whole week exercising at least 15 minutes a day which was the goal I was focusing on. However I think I am going to want to take some walks this weekend with the wonderful weather we are having. Last week I started the exercise on Wednesday so it was only 3 days.

@aliciap0116 Great pics!! You have worked really hard, well done! Logging in for the long haul is really the answer!

@KeriA: My boyfriend is working on setting up databases for COVID-19 researchers, and I remind myself that by staying home I am doing my part, even if it doesn't feel like very much at all. I've had to pull back hard from media coverage of it, because that makes me feel sad and depressed, and remind myself that everyone I love is healthy and we will get through this, and someday there will be date nights at the Symphony, and family meals at the Mexican place near our house, and visits to my mother and sons, and a trip to the jewelry store to ring-shop, and life will go on.
At least as I lose weight I know my former engagement and wedding rings fit again, so that's something. That way I don't have to get the new set resized; I was a six for about fifteen years before the weight piled on.6 -
@aliciap0116 amazing pics! what a difference. Thanks for posting, it's inspiring to me because I more or less look like your before pic and I want to look like your current pic!6

Hello everyone! I'm new to this group. I'm a bit late to the party but here I go. I have had a big weight gain during college that I'm ready to shred but I know I'll need a bit of motivation. My main goal is to to change my eating habits. I'm a big emotional/ bored eater. I want to focus on eating when I'm actually hungry! I would also like to add movement into my daily routine, any movement, just getting off the couch. Good luck everyone and be safe!

Welcome!! This is a great group and very supportive. Good Luck5 -
Today I packed up my size 18 jeans. They bag too much in the seat and crotch to be comfortable, and the thighs are too loose. Makes me feel a little sad, because they've barely been worn. Honestly, if anyone is on the verge of sizing down out of a 20 and wants some jeans, message me and I'll send them. I hate to just get rid of them. They're GV Amanda jeans in a dark wash.
The more I move, the better I feel. That's hard because of the depression's inertia, but I'm going to try to push back against that. I'm finishing up some laundry and then I'll set the sewing room to look like there's a quilt in progress, and shut the door against the kitties til Tuesday morning when that bedroom gets photographed.
Tonight is going to be chicken-fried steak, sausage gravy, biscuits, fried potatoes, and eggs. On occasion, it's all right and I plan to eat a sensible portion.9 -

Goals for April:
Lose 100 pounds from Starting Weight - Only 1.6 pounds to go!
Run 4x/week - Done!
Get comfortable with a 5 mile run - Working on increasing speed. I'd like to get below 10:30 pace
Increase highest mileage to 8 miles - 8 mile run scheduled in 2 weeks
Accurately log my food - This is part of my way of life now.
Stay well - Whole family is still well and I am so grateful for that
Welcome to all the newbies who joined this month. If I can impart any wisdom: this is what has worked for me:
1. Weigh your food
2. Log everything you eat.
3. There are no bad foods just bad logging
4. Introduce 1 new healthy habit at a time. Practice is for a month, then add another.
5. Make sure those healthy habits you are introducing are ones you can live with - you are in it for the long haul - this is not a temporary thing.
6. You will slip up. That's normal. When you slip up, it's because you didn't yet know how to prepare for what threw you for a loop. Your job is to learn how to be better prepared next time. Beating yourself up and thinking you lack willpower is not helpful. Strategy will get your further than willpower, every time.
7. Supporting others in your struggle will make it easier to sustain yourself through this journey.
8. Love yourself and your imperfect body. Be proud of your amazingly strong body, no matter what its size.

@speyerj You are my #GoalModel
I’m feeling really frustrated because I’ve hit a plateau for the first time in my weight loss journey. I’m just going to keep going. It’s disheartening not to see the numbers drop but I’ve lost inches which is just as good?
Have a terrific weekend❣️10 -
