Penny - YES. I would apply to you as a funder in a heartbeat! One of my favorite sites (https://nonprofitaf.com/) calls the grant writer's holy grail "MYGOD" Multi-Year General Operating Dollars . One of the funnier nonprofit-oriented sites I've ever found. He seems to be a really good guy. I have hopes that something good may come out of this whole mess, with the foundations loosening up their purse strings - and if the economy survives in reasonable shape, they might. If we do fade into a recession, my job will instantly be like pulling chicken's teeth... I do know that people need the basics first, food, shelter, employment--but Girl Scouts is the "then what" that comes after.

I am totally with you about the media citing misleading statistics when reporting how many are affected by the virus.
Also, disheartened by this video about the Bad Fairy Corona Dust emanating from infected people's mouths and noses whether sneezing or not:I was spitting mad yesterday about George Stephanopolus. "Oh, look at me. No symptoms, but I got a test
-- and probably results in 24 hours -- and look, I tested positive. But I feel great!!" Well bully for you, buddy. Shut up about it! Stop gloating. Did you have to wait in line for a test, for hours? Did you have to line up at midnight to secure your place in line? Did you have to wait 10 days to get the results of your "no symptom" test? I get it. His wife has the virus. But none of the rest of us would get a test because of that. We would just be told, perhaps rightly because of the shortage of tests, to act as if we have it, stay home, and stay safe. (I am getting sick of hearing that, too.) My son is a socialist (not a democratic socialist), and in this he and I agree. The class system in this country is absolutely making me livid.
So pseudo celebrities who can get a test for no good reason, when we have people dying in their homes because they are afraid to go to the hospital -- or better -- go to the hospital, and are sent home because they aren't sick enough, just shut up about it. I don't want to hear about it anymore. Get your test. Then be quiet. Don't rub it in our faces. OMG I am so mad. Pink addressed it, but even that angered me. "Oh, you should be angry, but don't be angry with me. It's not my fault." Well, it sure is. Not completely; but you share in the fault. You agreed to be tested and get results quickly, when you know the rest of us peons either can't get a test or have to wait 7-10 days to get results. Check your privilege, girl.
I was so mad last night. I put a glass in a bag, went outside, and smashed it twice -- once on the ground and once against the garbage can. I did feel better. But I am furious.
And I'm mad at myself that I believed the president when he said we could get a test if we wanted it. That drive in testing would be across the country, in the parking lots of Walmart, Walgreens, RiteAid, where ever -- remember those executives he paraded out, and applauded for their generosity in donating spaces in their parking lots. That makes me cry now, literally. That I believed that.
I want this to just be over.

On other news --
My 13 year old is finally in online school. He has five hours on Tuesday and Thursdays, for 10 weeks, I think. He is excited to be doing something after four weeks off.
I am thankful that hubby and I are able to keep working. My heart hurts for those who have lost their jobs -- 15 at my institution, alone. We are trying to plan for the fall, but it is nearly impossible since no one knows what the world will look like by then.
Sunny today. I am happy for that, but I woke up not feeling well. Overslept by two hours, which is not like me. Low-grade fever. Headache. Sore throat. Just feeling off. I am still in my pjs and working from bed. I was going to go into the office today, but I decided driving was not a good idea in this condition. I am hoping it passes quickly.
Hubby and I are watching Schitt$ Creek. One 30 minute episode an evening has been good therapy.
As for news, I allow myself to read CNN online -- mostly just headlines -- The Chronicle of Higher Education --because it puts the virus in context for my work -- I try to watch Rachel every evening because I love her indepth story telling, although she is a ranter -- I check into Fox every few days just to get inside their bubble a little, for a reality check. But often during the day my mom or husband will say/type "Did you hear . . ." And I just say no. I'm not reading the news right now. I can't maintain it as a steady diet. I get too angry -- and you can read my rant/rage to see that you wouldn't like it if I get angry -- to quote the Hulk.
Much love to all.

A lot of rules are looser now, you might be able to get a prescription after a phone call to your doctor instead of a visit. Likewise counseling is now by phone or online. Take care of yourself like you would with any illness.

I’m already on meds. I get like this periodically. Thanks for thinking of me!

Heather: I love the “kettle.” It looks quite a bit like my DDIL’s coffee pot.
(((Felicia))): We all want the same thing. I hope the contagious part of this mess is over soon. I have no respect for “he who must not be named.” :grumble:
Rita: Your chard looks healthy and yummy. Container gardening is a delight. My containers have chives and parsley.
Allie: Good luck with your unemployment benefits appeal.
(((Rita))) Take Vitamin D3, the sunshine vitamin. I buy the capsules in the pharmacy section of grocery stores, and places like Walmart & Walgreens that sell vitamins. It might help with easing your depression. Vitamin D can be found in sunshine, but also in leafy green veggies like spinach, chard, and broccoli. Good luck. :flowerforyou:

Katla, thank you! Its been years since I colored my hair. Noticing as I get older my hair is darker in spots, and of course more gray in spots!😁. I like that my grays behave with my other hair!
Commissary shopping started at 8:10 am in line outside until 9:00 am when it opened. Got out at 11:00am $300 poorer. Shopping for 2weeks when you have to buy every darn ingredient is expensive. When we got back to the car, her battery was dead! So we hemmed and hawed for a bit, called son but husband was able to ask someone for a jump. We got it started, and drove to a tire/battery place. The dang attendant took husband's battery specifics, we waited for 30 min, with the car running only to be told they don't carry it. Jeez attendant, could you not have told us before? We were able to drive to the other base for my prescription though. Husband kept the car ON. 👍 We have an appointment with the dealership when they get it in stock. Turns out no one carries a Chevy Spark battery! Son has jumper cables and some sort of power thingy.
I ate roasted chicken in the car while we were waiting. I was in fasting mode going into the commissary. Ate toast with jam last night, so hoping that would help, but wearing a mask for a couple of hours took its toll! I had the warm roast chicken up front because even though its in a pretty sturdy plastic bag, I am always afraid it might leak. So ready protein, and I was getting a serious headache! Husband took the car hiccup in stride. The battery is 8 years old so it is time for a new one.
Well I texted my middle sister yesterday. The one with no empathy button? I asked her how she was doing, and we texted polite like, and we texted for 5+minutes when she types " going to play with my grand kids"! I just wish for once she'd ask how I was. Maybe that's just asking too much from her. I told her she cou!d help the grand kids draw pictures for their cousin Owain, (my youngest Navy son in Japan). She texts back, "what's his address again"? Jeez sis, I have given it to you a dozen times! (I didn't text that). I wanted to type, " and I am fine, in case you wondered". I am glad I have friends that ask how I am doing because my sis is a no show on being accountable for anything.
Take care ladies!

Did the Jari Love Get Extremely Ripped Boot Camp DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Cardio Core DVD
As expected, Denise never called yesterday. Yes, I am extremely sad.
You know, more and more I’m finding that things are more expensive on Amazon. Admitted, they do have good customer service if you have a problem. Plus free shipping. But it makes you wonder if it’s truly worth it.
Lisa – let me add to your rant that if someone goes to the hosp for a heart attack but they tested positive for the virus, should they die the cause of death is listed as “complications from the coronavirus” when in fact they died of a heart attack. I’ve pretty muchly gotten to the point where if I get an email about the virus, I just hit “delete”. It’s said that people who obsessed about 9/11 had a higher incidence of anxiety. I let people just give me the highlights of all this virus media.
Am making Jess some M&M cookies (since the mini M&M’s were on sale after the holiday). She complained yesterday that we didn’t have any cookies (why she couldn’t have the brownies or chocolate cake is beyond me).
I’m thinking that tomorrow I’d like Jess to go with me to Sam’s so maybe I can get an idea of things that she’d like. One thing about Sam’s is I’ve found that a lot of their prepared foods are high in spices. I like some spice but not where my mouth is burning.
Allie – I’m so sorry
I have this old Christmas tree skirt. Over time the white has discolored with age. Someone suggested to me that I use oxi-clean and let it sit in the sun. I remember a while ago I had a x-stitch that had mold on it. I soaked it in PineSol and put it out in the sunshine. It did take a few weeks, but the mold did disappear. So I’m hoping the same thing will happen with this tree skirt. Does anyone else have any suggestions for getting the yellow with age out and the skirt back to white?
Cleaned the inside of the microwave this morning.
Sheila – welcome back! How wonderful that you’re cancer free for so long
Vince goes to the cardiologist tomorrow at 9:45

Wow! Canada adopted its maple leaf on its flag in 1967! I thought for sure it had to be before then, but I was wrong.

This time of shelter at home has helped me once again to clarify my values. As much as I like to buy things on sale and find bargains, right now staying at home is more important and venturing out to shop is something I want to do very sparingly. I have purchased two items on Amazon in the last five weeks. Both were items that would have required my going to an additional store when I wanted to limit my shopping to only two stores. I paid for shipping to buy the yarn I wanted from another store so I wouldn't have to go to WalMart just for yarn where I might not even find the colors I wanted. I purchased cat food at the grocery store at a slightly higher price, just to avoid going to another store. I won't be buying the bark I usually buy for my yard because Jake wants to avoid having someone come to our house to deliver it.
Jake has been diligent about keeping track of the foods and other items that he uses so he can add them to the shopping list knowing that I won't venture out for single items that he forgot to mention.
